Hello Mr. Gaiman,

I've always been curious about this kind of thing, so I thought I'd ask, if you're willing to share, how did you become friends with @dianeduane and the other writers around here? Was it before or after you both became authors, before or after you made it big? Through writing or through other things?

I'm a scientist (also a profession where networking is a Skill to be Learned) and aspiring writer - also a big fan of yours and Mz. Duane's work - and I've always wondered how people form these networks of professional/friendly contacts.

I met Diane and her husband Peter (also a writer) about 35 years ago at some convention or other (my brain suggests Liverpool but it might have been anywhere in the UK) with Terry Pratchett, who knew them already. We bonded over J.P. Martin's UNCLE books and ate enormous quantities of Chinese food. We have been friends ever since.

The new season got me out of my year long black butler fan closet tbh😭 but, yea i honestly don't think i ever even watched season two of the anime? The ending they made up was so insane tho. Black butler fans where in the trenches for so long bc you could not admit to liking it without beeing labeled a creep🥲 I'm so happy they're animating the school arc its one of my favourite manga arcs... idk if you mentioned it before but what is your favourite arc?

it's one of my favorite too!!! it's hard to pick one true favorite tho because i haven't reread all of it at once in a long while, my fav when i first started reading the manga was the circus arc, then the murder arc then the campania ect, i love each new arc so much!! (except the bard & lau mission that, huh, didn't like that) each have a different kind of nostalgia attached to it! i read the circus arc when a circus was in town! i got Obsessed with undertaker with the campania and watched the titanic movie for the first time soon after! ect!!! this damn manga has been maybe The One Constance through my life it's ridiculous 😭

but to answer your question my fav arcs would be the campania & public school arcs!!

If people were too mean to you when you were growing up, a newborn animal will materialize inside your brain and it’s so so scared and shivering and it will stay there for years. Decades, even. And whenever you say something kind of weird but true to your heart the animal will tell you “Noo! You can’t say that! If you say that, everyone will hate you!”. The animal means well. It’s so so small and everything is so scary for them and it’s just trying to protect you. But listen to me. Listen to me. Whenever this happens, you can’t do what the animal says. You can’t. If you do, you’ll become as scared as the animal. You have to keep saying weird shit. You have to keep doing things the animal wouldn’t approve of. If you do enough things that scare the animal, maybe one day it’ll go to sleep.
