I thought I'd make an official post about this while I'm here--

Basically, for those that don't know, the mod of this blog is a system! We've recently had a host change, and he is vastly different from the rest of us. We all blend in really well together, but our new host has completely different interests. I intend to come back at some point, but it probably won't be for a while.

In the meantime though, we're working on an original project called By Candlelight! It's a horror story, and please feel free to, if you're interested, send asks about it! Here or the main blog works, we're not particularly choosy. Thank you for your patience!

Hey, I've seen you've been inactive here, and I was wondering if you were doing OK? Don't mean to pressure you!

I'm fine, don't worry!! I'm just in a bit of a rut, creativity-wise. I don't have a special interest, and when I'm not Super Into one thing, I can't divert creative energy into other things I also enjoy haha

I'm rereading Homestuck to see if that'll do something for me?? But if you or anyone has any suggestions for things I could get into, I'd be happy to hear em!!

And don't worry-- I'll come back! Hopefully soon; but I don't want to force myself to write and send out something I'm not proud of.

Soooo, what would be the best way to befriend the mastus and Totoko? Where would be easy to meet and know them?

Ooooooh okay okay. Again, sorry, no readmore because I’m on mobile!!

The best way to meet Osomatsu is probably at a bar, or maybe even Chibita’s stand. He’s a little tipsy, but that just means he’s in a good mood! You’d also have to catch him by himself, because he’s really at his worst around his brothers. He might try to flirt a bit, but he’s really all about having a good time— and it’s not that hard to change the topic of conversation. I think that, if everything goes perfectly, he forgets that he was trying to flirt with you at all!

Getting to know him would probably be easiest on walks around the park. He doesn’t have money, so he probably doesn’t like to go out properly (except to pachinko, but honestly, that seems like a really boring place to go with a group of people; and as for the horse races, that’s hardly a good place to sit and talk with someone). He’s happy to walk laps around the park just talking, until all of a sudden the sun has set and you should both head home. ☆

As for Karamatsu, you might find him at the local fishing spot! You might only be able to talk to him after whoever is with him leaves (even for a second), because as long as someone is with him, they’re likely making fun of him. Your first meeting is probably not that long, but you think he’s joking around with his cool persona and hit it off.

He’s not a hard person to get to know, because he’s pretty aware of how he’s treated. He acknowledges that he doesn’t like it, but that he’d still do anything for his brothers. When you respond with, “You don’t need to put up with that,” he quiets. And smiles. And he seems like a different, quieter person. Honestly, I see Karamatsu as one of the quietest (second, or maybe even tied, with Ichimatsu) of the six— getting to know him probably involves a lot of silent communication and reading between the lines. ☆

To make friends with Choromatsu, you have to catch him when he is in no perceived position of power. Meaning, maybe he’s out with Osomatsu, or maybe he just failed a job interview (is that something you fail?)— he’s a bit entitled, so meeting him when he knows he’s not his best actually helps with this first impression. I don’t know the details of where, necessarily, but I think it might have to almost be in passing. Maybe he gets your contact information from someone else?

Letting him be vulnerable and honest is the best way to get to know him. He’s always talking about getting a job and becoming “proper” and living a life, but he already knows the reason that hasn’t happened is because he doesn’t want it to. When you’re getting to know him, you have to prompt him to be honest about what he wants— not just in life in general, but right in that moment. And you have to offer a similar honesty in return. ☆

There is a quick and easy way to meet Ichimatsu, and it’s by volunteering at the local animal shelter or by working at a cat cafe or something of the like. Anywhere there are cats, he will be there. He’s really not friendly, so I can’t imagine a particularly good first impression with him no matter what, but watching him engage with the cats assures you that he’s not a bad person.

The way to get close to him is through something he likes. You’d probably have to get to know him through things he mumbles to the cats when he thinks you can’t hear him, and then use that information, later. For example, “Mm... Mom peeled pears for me yesterday... you wouldn’t know how good that is, because you’re just a cat.” And then when he comes by the next day, you just so happened to have packed peeled pears for your lunch... and you just so happen to be on your lunch break. You’re willing to share! And, like a cat, if you come on too strong, that will put him off. After these little gestures, you have to let him come to you. Once he feels comfortable enough, seemingly out of the blue, he’ll say, “Hey... I know this place... If your shift ends soon, you could come with me.” ☆

Meeting Jyushimatsu is not the hard part. He frequents parks, and the cliffs, and pretty much anywhere he can swing a baseball bat. He’s similar to Ichimatsu in that you have to let him go to you, but for a different reason— there is no way you’re on his level. Trying to chat with him on your terms will be fruitless, so he has to chat with you on his. This is a little different if he’s around his brothers, but for the most part, meeting any sextuplet while around the others is challenging.

It’s surprising how good he is in public, though— so getting to know him probably takes place in a public area. Almost always outside, but still somewhere there are a lot of people in the background. While getting to know him, it’s good to have someone to translate his nonsense; bringing a more laid-back sextuplet along could help with this! ☆

Finding Todomatsu is easy. Getting to a place where he wants to keep talking to you is hard. But meeting him at a mixer is probably your best bet. It’s obvious right away that he’s not interested in meeting friends at these things— but picture that scene in Aggretsuko with Retsuko and Resasuke where they happen upon each other at a mixer, and then spend the whole night texting while the others grow louder. I think that’s how your first meeting would have to go— he’s striking out entirely, and you happen to not be very involved in the discussion, either.

I think that he’s a very honest texter. I think that he can’t say out loud what he thinks and feels— he’s not thinking about it at the time, or he just can’t find the words in the moment. So getting to know him probably comes in late nights in the comforts of your respective homes; he tells you about his hopes and dreams. And when he’s just comfortable enough, he listens to yours. ☆

Honestly, I think a great place to meet Totoko would be at one of her concerts! I haven’t seen all of S3, so to the best of my knowledge, she still really isn’t all that popular. So the area is nearly empty, save the sextuplets. Then she sees that there’s a new face in the crowd! After the show, she starts asking all kinds of questions, fishing for compliments (hahaha I didn’t do that on purpose, but it’s still kinda funny).

She probably sees you as just a fan for a really long time, assuming you keep going to her concerts. But she always notices you in the crowd and waves hello. She approaches you all the time after concerts, asking for a detailed review— and not the spineless ass kissery the sextuplets usually offer! I mean, don’t get me wrong— she doesn’t want to hear any bad things, but when she isn’t being drooled over, it’s a little bit easier to slide in an objective opinion. Before long, she seeks you out before concerts. And then she invites you out after concerts. And then you’re just hanging out, as friends! ☆

Totoko:

I think she was a little bit awkward about it at first— that is, until you explained that it’s just something you like to do with friends

“Huh? Best friends can just hold hands? I had no idea!” And then she took it, and you continued the conversation you’d been having before like you’d never been interrupted in the first place.

I think you’d have to ease your way into cuddling— go from touching shoulder-to-shoulder, then leaning your head against her shoulder, adjust a bit... next thing she knows, you’ve got your arms wrapped around each other

She’s not the most physically affectionate person, so I think she’d get a little overwhelmed if you were to just lie down on her out of nowhere?

And if you ask her, she’ll let you lay your head in her lap or something of the like

I’m not 100% sure what you’re asking me here. So I understand that you want headcanons of Osomatsu in the hero AU (where his hero name is Charisma Red), and that you want these headcanons revolving around him being seriously angry. I also understand that you’d like the other five to be worried about this, but I’m not sure what to do with this information. If you could give me a bit more— like maybe a catalyst/triggering event for these emotions, I’d be happy to fill this!! :>

But Kara and Oso are closer since the S2! You can see that Kara want Oso to lean on him while also wanting him to be a better big brother. Kara have his nii chan! His only nii san (I get super emotional over Kara having only Oso as a big brother 🥺)

Oh no for sure!! That is absolutely true-- their relationship is very complex, which is not something I’d really explore in a reader-insert headcanon list; I was thinking about how, specifically, childhood bonds are formed; namely with siblings. And with larger groups of siblings, I know that they tend to gravitate towards smaller groups; usually the older kids will band with each other, and the younger kids with them.

I’m putting this under the cut because I really deconstructed what I was thinking while I was writing those imagines (and depending on the context, what I think about while writing any imagine); I can be a bit long-winded.

Next, I factored in a bit of relationship facts between my own siblings and I. I’m the oldest, my sister is the middlest, and my brother is the youngest. There’s a 2-year age gap between my sister and I, and a 6-year gap between my brother and I. Neither my sister nor me remembers a time without the other, so needless to say, we are very close. My brother and I are less close-- in fact, we never really sat down and had a whole conversation until last year (which is on me).

So, there’s no big age gap between the sextuplets, obviously; but there are a lot of siblings between Osomatsu and Todomatsu. The show places a lot of emphasis on Osomatsu being the oldest, which leads me to believe that the sextuplets put a lot of stock into their birth order and birth position. The four siblings separating the oldest from the youngest is enough to simulate the same age gap between my brother and I, hence Todomatsu does not have an “other”.

Okay, I know, we’re not talking about Todomatsu. But I thought it would be worth it to go over why him and Karamatsu aren’t really a “pair” in the same way the others are! 

Next, we take a look at Osomatsu-kun. I’ve only seen a handful of episodes from the 80s version, and none from the 60s, but osmosis through being in the fandom has informed me that Osomatsu and Choromatsu were once really close. Even though they fought all through high school and are no longer as they were, I firmly believe that you cannot erase the childhood bond you have with your favoured sibling. Osomatsu and Choromatsu will always have their childhood together, and will always have a deeper understanding of the other than the others.

But here’s where it gets interesting! Osomatsu and Choromatsu paired off; Osomatsu, having stolen Ichimatsu’s potential “other”, gets really close with Jyushimatsu; this once again brings us to Todomatsu, alone. There are still three siblings between Karamatsu and Todomatsu, which still simulates the inherent gap. Not to mention that because of the weight on their birth order, there’s further division between the oldest and youngest, which further pushing them away.

When factoring in a reader that is so close to the sextuplets, they think of them as a sibling, I had to establish relationships that they had in their early childhoods in order to fit the reader in properly. I’m not sure how someone from the outside could penetrate such a closely-knit group, but I sure can write about what happens if they did! And part of being close to them is looking at how close they feel to each other; as siblings, these feelings were established in their early childhood. Hence, Osomatsu and Karamatsu are not each other’s “other”. BUT! That doesn’t mean they aren’t close at all! Hopefully this meant something and wasn’t all nonsense hehe

I want headcanon about being friends with the matsu and basically be considered as one of their siblings!

No problem!!! First I want to link you to my last sextuplet platonic headcanons!! This one will be different but I didn’t know if you saw that one :) Also no readmore because I’m on mobile TuT

Osomatsu:

Literally thinks of you as a sibling. He’s surprised if you knock on the front door, and counts you as “one of us” when talking about the sextuplets. He sometimes forgets that you aren’t!

“At least one of us is getting their shit together,” is something he says a lot (assuming you’re getting your shit together)

If you have a job, he shows up and asks for free things, claiming to be your oldest brother. He no longer expects anything to come of this

All of them bother you for loans and treats, but this guy is by far the worst. That being said, he actually owes you the least because when he wins at pachinko, he pays off a little bit. Don’t tell Chibita.

But he IS like an older brother to you. He does his best to protect you if necessary, and gives (shitty) advice if you need it. The good thing about his advice is that if you do the exact opposite of what he says, usually things turn out okay!

Karamatsu:

Because you’re so close to the six of them, there are a lot of times where Karamatsu ends up being the butt of the joke. Sometimes, you’re the one making it, too

But it’s not like he minds all that much! Not when it comes from his brothers, and not when it comes from you. Plus, you always reassure him afterwards that you care about him a lot

Karamatsu probably thinks of you as his “other”— you know, Osomatsu and Choromatsu are close; Ichimatsu and Jyushimatsu are close; Todomatsu outsources, so he’s left all alone

During squabbles, if you side against him, he makes a point of being over-dramatic in a way that assures you he’s not taking it personally. Something like, “[Y/N], how COULD you? Siding with those demons over ME, Karamatsu? Well, I suppose that’s the way of the world... if you change your mind, you can always return to me, my dearest friend.”

He invites you to stay the night often. You decline. You’ve tried. Sleeping in a room with six other people is nightmarish.

Choromatsu:

Asks you for job advice, references, etc., a lot, but you have never been contacted once

Just like in the last imagine, he does try to emulate you to a certain degree. He can be something of a yes man, but only if he actually agrees with you

Hangs out with you when you’re hanging out with Osomatsu. It’s nice to have that common ground with him. Obviously, the shenanigans you get into as a trio are incomparable to the shenanigans sokudomatsu got up to back in the day, but it’s still fun

He loosens up a bit around you. It took a while, because at first, you were someone he wanted to impress; now that you’ve basically been adopted into the household, that’s no longer true. You’re not actually related, so he can be a tiny bit more honest with his goals with you. There’s freedom in having someone so close to you that you don’t also have to live with

You watch a lot of movies together, and then bitch about them. Neither of you are sure when this started, but it’s your favourite pastime, now. It usually takes about twice as long to watch the movie because of how often one of you pauses it to complain

He used to invite you to idol shows before you did the movie thing together! Now that you’ve got that, he has his own thing. He still sometimes invites you, though, if he knows you’re a fan of this particular group/person.

Ichimatsu:

It’s hard to discern Ichimatsu’s feelings about you, because he reacts to just about everything in the same way

That being said, if you’re just hanging out by yourself, he’ll find the nearest cat and drop it on you

Ichimatsu’s favourite way to hang out with people is in comfortable silence, so you probably find yourselves doing that for hours at a time. It’s so relaxing to just unwind in the presence of someone else, without feeling any pressure to strike up or hold a conversation

That being said, sometimes you find just the right topic and just the right wavelength and passionately discuss one subject for hours. It’s the kind of conversation that no one else can interject into. Sometimes, this means an argument as you try to force the other to see it from your perspective; but it’s never a fight

He’s the easiest brother to buy gifts for. Just get the guy some cat treats for his cats!

This is the deepest relationship Ichimatsu has, probably. The ability to relax in the presence of someone else is not a pleasure he’s able to have with any of his brothers— the key word here being “relax”.

Jyushimatsu:

Is a huge enigma. You never quite know what you’re getting into with him, or what he’s going to do next

Hanging out with him has taught you to plan around uncontrollable variables, which is a life skill you’ll have forever

At some point, though, you learn to predict his unpredictability. You never know what he’s going to do, but you know when he might!

He can sometimes ask really hard questions. Really existential, really weird; with anyone else, it might send you spiralling, as you think about all the ways you’ve wasted your life; with him, though, it’s all lighthearted. Everything is going to be okay, because these hard questions are followed by a ridiculous example

Yes you have walked him in the dog costume before. Ichimatsu told you it was “an honour— he doesn’t let just anyone do that, you know.” So you did it. You certainly have feelings about it, but... what are they?

Todomatsu:

Also thinks of himself as not having an “other”. Again, Oso & Choro are/were close; Ichi & Jyushi are close; and “Karamatsu’s always been kind of a loner.” So he drags you around a bunch, too

He thinks it’s so great to have someone he’s close to. He brings you to mixers because you both know that you’ll respect (and maybe even help) the other if you’ve made a connection. But even if you don’t, it’s still good to have someone you know around to shittalk all the stuck-up people that are also in that situation. “Look at them, acting like they’re better than us... well, they’re here, too...”

He’s the first person you tell about a job opening at your place of work. You heard he’s had a bit of experience, and honestly, he’s so social he could probably blend in anywhere. He makes you promise not to tell his brothers when he does apply.

He absolutely tries to act like your little brother. Whining, asking for things— and you play your part as the older brother of a twenty-something-year-old: “Totty, what the hell is wrong with you?”

He’s easily spooked. You’re happy to help him through whatever it is that’s getting to him— maybe it’s the dark, or he saw something out of the corner of his eye, or there’s a weird silhouette in the distance that turns out to be one of those big inflatable dudes— either way, you’re on speed dial and he’ll call you for everything like that. Regardless of time.
