So how’s Sasha doing in this hypothetical Psychonauts sequel?

do you want something from me about it like is there a problem

with where he's at in his life as a person i think though he might be kind of going through some great tumultuous change. i have partial custody (weekends, every other holiday, one whole post every four to six months,) of an ask blog for him with some girl and we developed a rich vein of events for him to undergo. it was established that the state of his inner world is highly unusual and tantamount to psychic self-mutilation, performed with the goal of micromanaging his thoughts & behaviors. as a result he developed a separate "id" that wanders the far reaches of his mind and routinely attempts to assert its influence over him. it looks and sounds like him but wears revealing women's clothing. we just called it "other sasha" which is also my last.fm username if youre interested

anyway he lives at whispering rock year round and doesnt have a car and cant drive so he can be AROUND but i don't want to see him playing a much larger role in my visions than he did in the first game if he was important id care less

#sasha not being able to drive makes it funnier that he can fly and also it's just real because flying is objectively easier than driving #at any point in his life where he's living in a metropolitan area he's taking the bus. like probably has to shop for groceries in bulk needs #a deep freezer down there. this isn't a huge deal for him because he grew up in post war germany and went hungry frequently as a child so #the internalized food anxiety can manifest in large routine grocery purchases. i doubt there's a food warehouse anywhere reasonably #reachable by bus route from the campground though so he just has to deal with the standard grocery store prices. that's fine though because #he probably has been eating the exact same rotating set of meals since he came to the us

any sashas recently? If no then that is fine (though I highly doubt that).

Recently one of my relatives told me that sasha nein resembled kyle maclachlan and I’m not sure if I agree, so I am additionally asking for your input on what actors you think he or any other psychonauts characters resemble considering how skillfully stylized they all are.

in what little free time I have I've been working on original projects...between that and the events of the last year, I don't have many shareworthy sashas sitting around :( sorry... I miss him too. <- wrote this before I went back into my old art folder and found some lol I might even post these solo someday among others I uncovered. here you go:

I do not see this resemblance your relative sees. But then again I don't usually see resemblances between cartoons and real life. Personally, I feel there are some characters that just don't translate well to real-life visuals and proportions (e.g., Ive never seen a good JTHM cosplay.... no one looks like that). If you have to pick a Twin Peaks guy, David Lynch might make a better sasha since he's got the more blocky jaw and face shape, but even still I don't think they look "similar". The only way I can see someone mildly resembling sasha in the real world is if they had a very columnar facial structure. Such as this guy:

You're welcome. I like petscop a lot. Saying it is "amazing" is an understatement... it is very special to me. But if i'm being honest i preferred tapers in terms of story. petscop had a really fun medium but tony is a really good writer, so even in petscop the strong points are mostly the parts with dialogue, etc.

i should probably mention that neither of the two are really anything i'm interested in participating in the "fandom" of though. they feel like complete, whole works on their own, so making fanart is more like a tribute to the original piece itself as opposed to a reinterpretation or anything similar. i'm not called to or interested in exploring the themes or characters presented, they feel real enough on their own.

good to know that it's been over two years and Tumblr still hasn't fixed the "feature" where if you try to edit a readmore in your drafts while previewing it as a "read more" on your blog it posts automatically when you click the save button

#they add an abundance of useless features to make the site borderline unusable for me and yet they don't do this #this is why I spend my free time browsing reddit now #come back at an unspecified time later for my answers to a backlog of asks beneath a readmore

Hello again…Things have finally aligned such that I feel I am able to start posting again. it's been a really eventful past year+ for me and i'm feeling a bit indulgent, so in the "blogging spirit", here is a little life update from me:

in 2023, I moved across the country to be with my boyfriend! Some of you may already know him. cohabitation has been a delight, but it's also been quite eventful. shortly after moving in together, I was unexpectedly pregnant and had a miscarriage within the first trimester. I don't care to get too personal here, but it was quite a taxing experience both physically and mentally, especially as we had decided to keep the baby.

soon after that we found out that among other things my mother had stolen checks out of my checkbook and cashed out a very significant portion of my savings in an event I probably should have seen coming but did not. such is life.

a lot of my time is now spent working…i don't have as much free time as I used to, but I'm still drawing quite regularly. Dane @myskyperevenge and I have been working on a project together that we are hoping to share with you this fall. It's called "Grief Complex", because that's what it's about. I may post some previews of it here in the next few months.

on another note I also started gardening. don't know if anything will come of it or if I will be good at it, especially since we don't get a lot of sun here… but I guess we'll see :)

Dear Doctor Nein,

I'm a psychic living on the east coast, and I was wondering what exactly your opinion was on things like psychic blockers? I know that Whispering Rock used Geodesic Psychoisolation Chambers for a time within its history, but I've never been sure if that was the best practice, considering the side-effects I've seen floating around. The reason why I ask, mostly, is because I'm trying to cope with huge bursts of power- and I mean huge, huge- while getting a BFA degree.

Mostly it's just been some pipes bursting and excess amounts of rain, but I'm worried that it will get worse if I leave it unchecked, and I don't have the money for proper training because of my schooling taking priority. If you have anything that could help me cope with some of them, I'd really appreciate the advice.

hello! ur posts on the vagus nerve and its connections to digestions have encouraged me to do a lil mini dissertation thingy kinda focused on it/around it, ur big thread on PVT and everything really piqued my interest when i read it and i just held onto it for like a year or smthing until like last week when i started the project. Ik u said recently in one of ur posts i believe that ur not going to post the big dirk PVT post and im not here to be like yo post it because i also think u said that ur kinda moving away from like hs/dirky stuff rn ?? Hello! I’m sorry this reply is coming so late, this ask in particular is very sweet and has stuck out to me.

I’m really happy to have introduced you to PVT, this is something I’ve heard from a few different people on here and it’s very sweet… I did my thesis on it in college and the time really flew by while working on it, things you don't think could possibly attributed to "nerve issues" being nerve issues is always an eye-opener, isn't it? being able to research things that interest you & access information in general really is a privilege in this day and age.

“The topics [I] portray” are very important to me, so it’s heartening when others take interest in spite of the obvious deterrents. A lot of what I love making art about is unpalatable to most, and while I do understand the reasons for that on principle, it can make things feel a little insular. I genuinely believe there’s a lot of value in depicting tableaus of misery.

The last year has brought a lot of very unforeseen changes, and my life is quite different from when I initially made this blog to post about him! That’s also part of why I’ve been so sparse here…though I’m working to change that quite soon. I love sharing my work, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting some truly wonderful people through this website. That said…with where I’m at now, I’m not sure I’ll be posting the Dirk essay anytime soon, I’m afraid.

I’ve undertaken a few ongoing projects, one of which in particular is an original project I plan on sharing publicly here hopefully within the next month or so. I hope it’s something you & anyone else who’s stuck around with me here will enjoy, but failing that, I’ve really enjoyed working on it thus far.

hello sorry if this has been asked before but would it be strange/bad if i printed out a couple of your drawings to stick on my wall? or would that be a steal-y thing to do if i didnt commission it? i am broke as shit but love your stuff a lot, so even though it would be on shitty printer paper i would really like to have a physical copy to just paste up in my bedroom lol (specifically of a couple of the agere dirk drawings). i looked around but didn't see any kind of place you sell prints, just your commission info.

I appreciate you asking, but I don't mind at all. I struggle to understand the concern with people displaying/copying art for personal use since that's the point of posting it, anything I post here I am posting to share. I do not share the art I do not want people to use like this.

At one point I considered selling prints (still might, in the future) and I may open commissions imminently due to personal circumstances, but as it stands if you have a printer or want to drive to the library to use theirs you can do whatever you want with my work. I'm glad it was meaningful to you!

do you have any bands that you like ? favorite songs ? novels ? i’ve been reading and rereading your posts for quite awhile now it comforts me to look at your art it kickstarted me into reading jthm playing psychonauts and rereading homestuck again today . there’s a lot i think would be nice to say but i am not sure how to verbalize it . i do hope you are doing well .

This ask came in much earlier this summer and I thought it was really sweet, but I've had a lot going on and didn't want to put up a half-baked response. Things are winding down for me at the moment and I plan to spend a little more time online, though, and this seems like a fun question to revisit.

I'm a little nitpicky when it comes to recommending things to people, but here's a picture of my bookshelf. I have a heavy preference for nonfiction reading, but most of the fiction I own is here. I don't read as many comics as I used to, but there are a few that have stuck with me......... obviously. Lol

Musically...I've spent this summer listening to the new Uncle Outrage album as well as some of his older works. Big fan of this guy. The albums Thunder, Lightning, Strike and The Scene Between by The Go! Team have also been prominent features. Sparks has some highlights (Girl from Germany & Saccharin and the War come to mind) I've enjoyed, and I'm a longstanding Eminem fan.

I don't really check it anymore but every time I do more changes were made that #make me clutch my head in despair pain and misery. its borderline unusable to me + I never thought i'd say that about tumblr of all places #I tend to not get upset by websites homogenizing but everything happening here is just really sad to me. it's unrecognizable
