I'm still trying to overcome the artblock that has been lasting for 6-7 months and completely ruined my social media, thank you for your patience :)

Hello Tumblr and hello Mika fandom! It's nice to see you again :)
I just wanted to thank @love-love-you for reposting my work and quoting it in her post about good music critic :) I was so honoured!
I really enjoyed reading all that she wrote, there's no better thing than feeling understood and somehow appreciated, I guess?!
And I'm also very happy to learn about the technical stuff, I genuinely want to know more to support my thesis better in the future😄.
Seeing such a mature view on Mika's work really made me regain faith in this fandom...I'm just a teen that loves to write stuff on the phone notes but I would love to be a music critic one day or some kind of journalist (it all started with my love for Mika) and I always feel discouraged to post my opinions on the internet.
I have a pretty big fanpage on instagram about him (diariodiunottimistaaccidentale) and I also wrote some negative reviews beside MNIMH (but still being respectful, I would never attack Mika just to be mean) clearly explaining all my thoughts but the audience didn't really get my point and started attacking me.
I said this to reinforce the point that bad music critic isn't about negative or positive reviews, but more about the knowledge of the artist in question and the way you express your opinion.
All that homophobic stuff that she quoted in her original post was simply disgusting. Disliking someone/something doesn't give you any right to be offensive. One of Mika's biggest problems is that he's often misunderstood, people don't get that all the pop-ish colorful world he built has nothing to do with the idea of a childish man they have. And not to talk about the fetishization of his figure by a big part of fans and not, particularly considering that he's a gay man...
His unique style, that hides depth and obscure stories (don't even get me started with Toy Boy!), is his point of strength but also his biggest weakness.
I see what happens here in Italy with his TV career...everybody knows him for his flamboyant clothes and nothing else. Old people come to his concerts just to dance.
But maybe...maybe he wants to be seen this way? Maybe he wants his music to be accessible, even if maybe not everyone gets all the work behind it? Guess I'll never know...
Anyway sorry, I'm rambling again.
I just wanted to say that I'm glad to find people that want to share what they've found in his art.
It's a great way to end this day xx

I know that Mika is having an hard time so I'm sharing these doodles I did at the start of the Revelation Tour. I don't have the originals anymore because I gave them to him in Sanremo as a gift :)

Some Araki's style studies I did when I was still at school. He's surely my favourite artist ever and reading Jojo's manga and copying his drawings helped me a lot to develop my personal style. I think that you can see traces of his work in mine 😊
