Hiatus 💫

Hi, everyone. A couple days ago, I posted to say that I was taking a short break from Tumblr, with the intention of coming back in a few days. Well, I’ve come online to check my dashboard every day since then. 😓 So, while it may just seem like a difference in wording to some people, I think calling it a hiatus will actually help to keep me away.

I don’t want to miss out on your stories and pictures, but I know I’ll be able to enjoy them so much more if I take care of my own mental health first. I love you guys, and I hope you’ll all take good care of yourselves while I’m gone.  <3

What is the main color associated with them? What connections with that color do they share?

I'm not very good at describing the connection that colors have in my brain to traits and things, so I'll leave that bit open to interpretation! I can't turn my character-design brain off while making sims, so the colors that represent them are almost always obvious at a glance -

Augusta: Pink and Black

Xavier: What would you call it ... Dark Goldenrod? Earthy colors, halfway between warm and cold. Sorry that's oddly specific, lol

Brook: Blue and White

6. Which of the four seasons best fits them?

Augusta: Autumn

Xavier: (early) Spring

Brook: Summer

17. What instrument would be used in their leitmotif (essentially their character song in this context)?

(this is a fun one, I actually gave it some thought before when I was making theme songs for the 2.B.A GM characters!!)

Augusta: Violin! That also happens to be one of two instruments she plays, but that's not the only reason I chose it!

Xavier: Y'know, I thought really long and hard on this, and considered a lot of different instruments (guitar, double bass, among others) but I ... couldn't pick one. I wanted to choose before answering this, but I didn't want to pick an unfitting answer just for the sake of answering! So right now, he doesn't have one, but maybe as his character arc progresses it'll become clear to me and then I can answer!

Brook: Synth keyboard! It has that 80s feel - which I often associate with Brook - and a pretty, clear, otherworldly tone imo.

Okay, I know I said I was coming back just a bit ago, so I’m sorry about this 😭 — but I need to take an actual break and not log in for a few days at the very least. The community as it is right now is having a negative impact on me. Thematic OC Questions

Some friends and I have been asking random questions regarding OCs. That got me thinking. Lots of OC question lists that I’ve seen have been about the OCs as people (their life, interests, habits). I want to ask meta questions about them as fictional characters.

These questions focus on the motifs and symbolic associations of a character in a narrative sense. This is more character analysis than character interaction.

What is the main color associated with them? What connections with that color do they share?

Drawing from the language of flowers, what flower would symbolize them?

What real life animal would they be represented by?

What mythical creature would they be represented by?

Which body part are they associated with? (Example: hands/arms symbolize strength.)

Which of the four seasons best fits them?

What time of day are they associated with?

Which of the seven heavenly virtues are they associated with? Do they embody that virtue or are they trying to learn it?

Which of the seven deadly sins are they associated with? Is it a negative trait of theirs or something they actively struggle with?

Are they closer to life or death?

Land, sea, or sky? Of the realms of the world, which one does the character belong to?

Are they the sun, moon, stars or something else in space (black hole, meteor shower, etc)?

Instead of your standard four elements, consider what kind of metal represents your character. (Look here for some ideas.)

Regardless of whether or not they wield any, what kind of weapon do you associate them with?

Pick an article of clothing to represent them. What does it mean?

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and anything between. What kind of dish are they?

What instrument would be used in their leitmotif (essentially their character song in this context)?

Which card would they be from the major arcana of tarot cards? (If you’re more well read in tarot, you could also do minor arcana.)

Which of the four temperaments (sanguine, choleric, melancholic, or phlegmatic) are they?

What word/phrase is central to their character? (It can be something they say or something that summarizes them meta-textually.)

……….

This isn’t a complete list of all possible thematic/symbolic questions that could be asked. Not all these questions could apply to a character. It doesn’t matter if you associate certain things with one symbol and someone else has other ideas.

These are just some questions to get people thinking.

Hi, guys! Sorry I haven’t been around much the past little while — I’m fine, in fact I’ve been missing my sims saves so much, but I haven’t been playing most of them for fear of missing out on important moments because of that stupid pause bug. 🤭 That’s also why I haven’t had much to post, hence haven’t been logging on as often, etc. but I’m still around! I’m hoping that the bug gets fixed in the next patch, but if not, I’ll have to make due and try to come back with some new posts anyway ... the show must go on!

Emilie is helping me finally try out SRWE for screenshots, and wow it definitely makes a difference 😅 I'm not totally used to using it yet, but maybe I'll fiddle with it more in the future!! (Lookbooks, perhaps?)

“That’s the spirit!” Augusta smiled as she headed for the stairwell. “I’ll need some time to pack, so I won’t be leaving just yet. Lucky you, we can still hang out for a while longer!”

“It’s not enough, if you ask me,” Augusta remarked as she got to her feet. Jesse reached out a hand and helped her steady herself before she spoke up again. “I’m glad you think so, though, because I think it’s time I move back to my place.” It was a matter that she and Jesse had gone back and forth on over the past couple of weeks, though Augusta had never really pushed for it. 

“Now?” Jesse asked, temporarily stunned. “Are you sure that’s what you want to do?”

“You said yourself that I’ve made progress, right?”

“Yes, but…”

“I can’t keep hiding here forever, Jesse, and you don’t want me to. If I don’t face my fears, they’ll become too big for me — I think it’s time.” Jesse went quiet for a moment, looking to the floor. Augusta searched his face, trying to devise what he was thinking.  “I know, you’ll miss me terribly,” She said. At this, Jesse glanced back up at her. Augusta almost thought that she saw him smile.

“You alright?” He asked.

“This week.”

“…No.”

Augusta sighed as she pulled her legs in close to her chest.

“Jesse, do you think I’m improving at all?” She asked.

posing in blender confuses me so much, I swear >> I made a pose with 5 sims and everything worked fine in game, BUT my earlier WIP didn’t seem to save properly and this is ... something that’s happened before and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. it’s like it half-saved my work, but certain random parts of it reverted to T-pose. It isn’t in order of what I worked on either so it’s not that I forgot to save after a certain point or anything like that. Like I said, my pose worked perfectly fine in game and I didn’t lose any work because I saved all the poses individually thereafter, but if anyone knows what I did wrong I’d love to know so that I can prevent losing things in the future. 😆 Is it something to do with LocRot? Object mode vs. Pose mode? I’m baffled.
