Insane to me that there are people who genuinely believe that Noora and William shared a healthy and mutually beneficial relationship. Insane to me that there are people who think it's a good deconstruction of the good girl bad boy trope. Insane to me that there are people who think they are the Darcy and Elizabeth of SKAM. Insane to me that people saw an older boy who had unprotected sex with a young girl, gave her a pregnancy scare, destroyed her self esteem enough to give her an eating disorder, apologized to her in a half assed way because he was promised a date, blackmailed and harassed her female friend into going out with him and they thought "omg so cute this is what young love looks like!" And then they point to nooreva and say it won't work because *checks smudged writing on palm* eva idolizes noora and doesn't see her true self. be fucking for real.

I really think people have forgotten just how bad things were under the Trump Administration. Literally every day there was news about some service being cut or someone terrible appointed somewhere they shouldn't be or what have you. He constantly flirted with WW3 and military dictatorship. It was such a blur of badness that there aren't big standouts for people to point to to make him "the XYZ president." it was everything. all the time. Why do we not remember this.

I will never forgive CinemaSins for how they contributed to the decline in media literacy in the last ten years and you can tell them I said that if you want. Not everything that is unexplained in media is plothole. Not every mistake is worthy of scorn and if a twist is visible prior to it hitting, that is not a bad thing. Your trivial nitpicking has set back the human ability to discuss media at least 30 years

I don't know what 13 year old, or 14 year old, or just any teenager needs to hear this, but I fucking promise, you don't need to watch real life gore videos.
You don't need to watch it to get better at drawing blood/gore. You don't need to watch it because you think it makes you cool. You don't need to watch it to get "desensitized" to the status quo that the internet has set up when it comes to gore footage. You don't need to watch it in general, you shouldn't watch it.
It's not worth it, it's not worth the trauma, paranoia, or other mental ramifications that come from seeing someone die on video. You might think you're fine in that moment, but it comes back to bite you in the ass years down the line.

genuinely one of the worst things that’s happened to television in the last few years (exacerbated by streaming services) is death of Filler. going from 20 episodes to 8 because “we didn’t really need that episode where the main characters went to the beach right? it had no long lasting effect” but we DID!!! we needed to see how they act without the Big Bad Plot and to establish the dynamics between the characters and lay in the sun (do they forget sunscreen? how do they react to a thieving seagull? do they get buried in the sand or do they do the burying?). the plot isn’t everything. the action doesn’t hit as hard without the quiet moments. give us character development and our little scenes back

the story of kfc fucks me up man. the colonel founded this gas station that expanded to restaurant, the chicken at the restaurant gets popular, makes KFC, it gets big and he sells it to a corporation for a lot of money. realizes he got sorta scammed out of the true worth of kfc so tries to get more money and they refuse and the courts side against him. then he starts a new chicken restaurant claiming the corporate people were not making chicken to his standards and kfc sued him because kfc owned the colonel's likeness and the courts agreed. a corporation owned this man's name and appearance. he wasnt allowed to use either, thus legally erasing his reputation making it harder for him to get taken seriously in any food venture. the man, to the day he died, was going into kfc's and throwing fits because the food had fallen into such bad shape he hated it was associated with him. and it's like, whether he's a bad man or a good man or whatever, a corporation owned his identity, stopped him from using his reputation and identity in other businesses, and refused to acknowledge his outrage that they changed his recipes and still attributed it to him. this is literally the obnoxious plot of a jay and silent bob movie, but it was this dude's real life. what the fuck.

Just the fact that so many people talk about "feeling fat" and "looking fat" despite not actually being fat, betrays that it's fucking not all about health. People fear even this perceived proximity to fatness. "I feel fat today" means "I feel ugly and therefore some kind of unworthy". "I look fat in that picture" means "I appear uglier than I consider myself to officially be". Neither of them means "I feel compelled to check my cholesterol" or whatever

**TW for butchphobic rhetoric mention**
I am writing an article for a queer forum in India about butchphobia, particularly among Gen Z heavy online spaces. As my own experiences are limited to my own city and closed circles (trust me, Kolkata isn't a good or safe place for butches and gnc folk), I would like some more voices to chime in. If you identify as butch, stud, masc or gnc, what do you feel about the common and pervasive microaggressions among exclusionary lgbtq spaces that
"butch lesbians are almost always confused closeted trans men because of rejecting femininity"
"sapphics who are singularly attracted to masc/butch/stud lesbians actually do not want to acknowledge their secret attraction to men"
the discourse around the "soft butch" label and what it implies / doesn't imply for other butches, particularly stones
Please rb this with your thoughts in the tags or comments if you feel safe, otherwise, I'm opening my asks (they will not be published publicly), and you are free to dm me if you don't wish to send an ask. Also do let me know if you wish to be credited for your thoughts, or would like to remain anonymous.
Note: Only people identifying as butch/stud/ masc or gnc interact please. Desis are particularly encouraged.
