Welcome to Earth Prime. Before there was thought, there was this place. One Earth, with a single history. But with the coming of man came the illusion of free will and with that illusion came chaos. With every choice we make, we literally create a world. History branches in two, creating one Earth where we made the choice and second where we didn’t. That’s the secret of the universe, you know. Billions of people making billions of choices, creating infinite earths.

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths (2010)
Midpoint: Owlman explains there are infinite parallel universes, and only one of them contains the prime Earth from which every other Earth derives. Its destruction would cause the end of everything.
“Midpoint: An important scene in the middle of the script, often a reversal of fortune or revelation that changes the direction of the story.” (Syd Field)

“Oh, right.” Owlman looked up to the other man besides him. “To be quite honest with you, I’m not too sure myself.” He finally answered, standing back up again.
“I was supposed to be on a mission. Infiltrate an old base for materials and leave as soon as I came. But obviously something must’ve gone wrong here, because this certainly not what I had in mind.”
owlsandsteeltalons:
“Interesting…” He made the mental note to keep in mind this man was probably a metahuman of sorts– not that he’s unfamiliar with that type of crowd, his entire team consisted of them… But it’s the kind of thing to remember. For his own purposes.
“And to answer your question– No. Not usually. But that’s because most of the corpses I come across where killed thru gunshot wounds, stabbings, the like. I have no interest in a method that’s been done before, and will be replicated again and again by any mindless crook you can come across on the street.”
Shigaraki was one of the metahumans of the world, but he was a special case. One with many quirks at hand, rather than just a single quirk like most of humanity had.
“Ah, so just the boring stuff… Deaths caused by a gun shot or stab wound. Mine are usually much different.. Burned to death.. dusted… eaten alive.. decapitated, and so on…”
The villain took a few steps closer to the stranger. “I don’t think you answered my earlier question. What are you doing here? Surely you didn’t just wander over here for no reason?” Or maybe he did…

“Interesting...” He made the mental note to keep in mind this man was probably a metahuman of sorts-- not that he’s unfamiliar with that type of crowd, his entire team consisted of them... But it’s the kind of thing to remember. For his own purposes.
“And to answer your question-- No. Not usually. But that’s because most of the corpses I come across where killed thru gunshot wounds, stabbings, the like. I have no interest in a method that’s been done before, and will be replicated again and again by any mindless crook you can come across on the street.”
owlsandsteeltalons:
“Mm, right. Rest assured I have no emotional connection to that corpse you’ve got there.” Owlman crouched down to inspect it more closely. “You know, the method used here isn’t that bad. Not one I’d use myself, but it’s certainly not the worst I’ve seen in my years.” He continues, unintentionally yet completely dodging the actual question.
Arms opened a bit, “Usually I dust my enemies. But this one I just didn’t feel like getting my hands dirty, y’know? So I let my shadows do the work. Butchering and taking chunks out of the guy. It wasn’t a pleasant death since he was kicking and screaming until he died,” he said with a grim smile beneath the hand.
“Do you usually study corpses that other’s have killed?”

“Mm, right. Rest assured I have no emotional connection to that corpse you've got there.” Owlman crouched down to inspect it more closely. “You know, the method used here isn’t that bad. Not one I’d use myself, but it’s certainly not the worst I’ve seen in my years.” He continues, unintentionally yet completely dodging the actual question.
owlsandsteeltalons:
“…Me? A hero?” Owlman raised a brow from under his cowl. “I wouldn’t exactly call myself that. Though if my suspicions are correct, that may as well be a good thing.”
“Oh? I always expect those in those kinds of outfits as heroes. It’s what they tend to parade around in,” the villain king mused, folding his arms over his chest. “Yes, if you were a hero, someone here to take revenge for the other hero I just killed, then I would end your life too… So tell me, why are you here?”

@owlsandsteeltalons
“A hero I assume?” the villain asked, cocking his head to the side. “You’re a bit too late if you are one… They’re dead.”

“...Owlyman? That’s... Certainly a new one.” He seems unimpressed despite that.
