pre-tdlr: my mom no longer has a job and wasn't given paid leave. i don't have a way to make money right now, rent is expensive, and we have a lot of kittens to take care of until they can be given away. we need money very very very bad. we are both physically disabled to a degree (severe chronic pain, hers worse than mine). I'm offering art in exchange for donations. okay now here's a detailed rundown

To give a more in depth recounting of the situation for the uninitiated, for the past year and a half, my mother and I have been virtually homeless. We've been temporarily housed by friends and family a few times, but patience with this sort of thing runs thin, so my grandpa (very generously) bought us an RV to stay in. We have a spot to park it, but rent for a PARKING spot for it is 800 a month--And it's over 1k a month in other places. shits fucked

Now, here's the main problem: My mom lost her job. She wasn't fired, but they moved shop, and despite essentially begging for compensation, they have given her nothing. This is with knowledge of our situation, too.

We do qualify for food stamps (thank god) but we desperately need money to help cover rent and cover some other...troubling problems. The RVs tags are expired, and it takes a crapton of money to get them replaced; If we were to move the RV with expired tags, we would get in legal trouble, so I'd really rather not be dealing with that if we get kicked off the property

On top of everything else, we have several kittens and even more cats; The kittens are still weaning on their mother and can't be given away, but we need money to feed them, too. seeing them go hungry would break my already broken heart into a million more broken little pieces

Most of the money would be going toward rent and bills, laundry (we have to go to the laundromat for washing clothes), gas for the car, new tags for the rv, and fees involved with me getting an ID, alongside whatever else comes up, just to help keep us afloat until my mom can land another job.

I will be offering rough-and-dirty commissions in exchange for donations to the gofundme if that gives you any incentive. Please. Please? Pretty please

One of my background processes came back with information. This pertains to the idea “A Slasher Movie With a Trans Woman Final Girl.”

Brief recap, slashers are substantially organized around the construction of sex, masculinity, and femininity. I am interested in a Trans Final Girl because I want to play with those constructs. When you put sex, gender, and trans women under the lens of violence, I think it will make interesting statements.

So this has been running in the background awhile and a minute ago the process notified me that a good template to start with for this is Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Not technically a slasher, but for my purposes I can still use it. It works pretty well generally for a few reasons.

The survivor girl fights through an ordeal which is recognized as traumatic in the text of the film.

The survivor girl is not specifically singled out as “strong” - she’s ordinarily feminine.

In many conventional slashers, the protagonists move from a place of safety to a place that is dangerous to them. This template instead places the protagonists in an environment which starts as indifferent / hostile, and they move into an environment which is openly hostile. Moving between “potentially hostile” to “openly hostile” reflects the trans experience.

Mostly they don’t realize how much danger they are in, an experience which most minorities are probably familiar with around their more privileged friends.

The antagonists don’t perceive the protagonists as human. They are by and large killed out of a mixture of inconvenience, bad luck, and as a food source. Dehumanization is a pretty common trans theme. 

The themes available in TCM have wide application and can be focused down into specific ideas about being a trans woman and a survivor. While it doesn’t give a direct plot, it creates a framework to hang the idea in: A hostile environment, a chance encounter with the dangers of the environment, and the struggle to escape from and survive the peril

Art for my AU Crooked Orchards, and a little info on this version of Michael. In the AU Michael is experimented on (tortured) by a doctor (neither Loomis nor Sartain) in an attempt to make Michael talk. He's most commonly electrocuted but he's gone under multiple other experiments. The electrocution has resulted in him losing vision in his left eye as well as his muscles occasionally locking up, impeding on his killing sprees. His left eye often drifts on its own but he can't see/can't see well out of it.
