I am walking around and talking into my voice memo app to free associate and it’s working~ I think I made some break throughs today. I was listening to the POOG podcast by Kate Berlant and Jacqeuline Novak and they said their trick to getting out of depressions is caring about TINY details of their life like skincare or smoothies etc, and it hit me that MY coping mechanism was just to “zoom out” as I call it and completely detach myself from my life and its details. 

I’ve been noticing it as 1. an insecurity of me being ‘empty’ or void of personality and 2. as a weakness when listening to friends CARE SO MUCH about tiny problems in their lives and im always like ok and? Of course I would give good feedback and I listen but I could never ACTUALLY care that much about something that small. 

This may be depersonalization or derealization but it’s like that “ROY” game in Rick and Morty, where some point in the bit we forget Morty is playing Roy. In my life, I’m usually aware that I’m PLAYING someone in a game of life I’m too scared to quit playing. 

And then once you realize you’ve been distancing your awareness from yourself, all the relationship problems with lovers and friends etc become clear. ex) I’m always underwhelmed by my choice of friends because it feels like they never actually know me but how could they? I was acting like a husk lol. 

Long story short: You can’t zoom out from your life as a coping mechanism lmao.

UPDATE 

We broke up lmaoooo! I got my stuff from his place, gave him his key back, and he’s PERFECTLY FINE! He talked to me for 30 minutes about how he’s started golfing lmao and I just smiled and nodded and was so thankful I followed my gut. 

skipped friendship stage

I love my bf but we’ve been really on and off again because he (scorpio venus) smothers me with devotion and love and I (libra venus) feel like he’s the perfect guy but our communication isnt the same. If he could just “yes-and” me sometimes, like if only we had the same sense of humor this would be perfect but I feel like sometimes he cant even focus on what I’m saying. We have different 1st languages so maybe its literally a time delay but also simple things like I wish I could send him memes I die from but he just wouldnt GET IT. This seems shallow but Im serious! Humor is my love language and he I’m afraid he’s in love with the stability we give each other and not how we’re friends. I regret skipping the friendship stage tbh.

Realistic Powers

The whole point of powers being used in media is to have a metaphorical outlet for certain feelings right? I WISH I could punch this guy through this wall etc etc. But I’m exploring the idea of powers that we could literally use... I think that could make for 1. easier identification with the characters and 2. MUCH more creative fight scenes. 

Like what if you could see 2 seconds into the future? There’s no superhero title that comes with that, but it would help a normal person tremendously if they needed to accomplish their task. And that person could evolve from an impulsive personality into a planner and thinker. A 180 would be a cautious overthinker getting serendipity powers- the powers to alter chance JUST ENOUGH in their favor if only they become brave enough to be decisive.
