Getting Back Into Your Practice
Tumblr media
Sometimes life is shitty and your spiritual practice doesn't take priority. Thats okay. Here are some tips for how to get back into your practice once you're feeling up for it.
Cleanse and Clean Your Space This is defiantly the first think you should focus your energy on. This can take as long as needed and as intensive as you want or feel is needed. Spiritual and physically cleanse your space. Pick up items, open windows and start your cleansing method of choice.
Redo Wards and Protections Once you've cleansed its important to redo your protection. Cleanse to get rid of, protect to keep it away. Even if nothing has *hit* your protections and wards, its important to keep up to date on them being energized.
Keep Actives Low on Spoons Now that you've done the basics, stick to low spoon actives and slowly build from there. Even if you feel super energized and ready to get into it- you want to take things slow. This'll help you from losing steam..
Slowly Add Back In Your Daily Practice This is totally unique person to person, but dont expect to be back into your multi step daily routine right away. Add in each step one at a time, or slowly so you wont feel overwhelmed.
Come Up with a Ritual Youre EXCITED About You want to focus on the parts of witchcraft you love. Do something you've always wanted to try, something you always love doing, or anything that will make you excited for the working.
Pick a New Topic, Not an Older One Getting into your practice and going to an older topic might feel disheartening. Pick a new topic like astrology, plants, or an aspect of witchcraft you havent gotten too into before. Then go back to the older topic you left on.
Do Some Divination on What You Need Right Now Spend time with your spirit team, deities or ancestors and figure out what you should be focusing in on right now. Maybe you need more rest, maybe theres a ritual they want you to work on.
Remember You Dont Have To Do Magic Daily Dont put too much stress into doing something every single day. Take breaks. Youre still a witch.
I hope these helped. Remember to take things slow and dont let the pressure of getting back into it weigh you down. Magic is suppose to help not hinder.

You know what I love about Witchcraft, is that as soon as you realize Witches of old used what they had to do what they need, things just start to click into place. They used cauldron’s because that’s what was in their kitchen, they made a great deal of things, because that was cheaper then buying ready made, they wrote in those big ole leather bound books because that’s what they had. And if you ever stressed about not being a real Witch because you don’t have any of these things that goes right away. (I mean it still would be nice to own a nice cauldron but i don’t need to have one!)
It’s just beautiful everything is beautiful and nothing is wrong, your path, your tools, your methods are valid.

Hey folks, if you're looking for a generalized term to use in place of "shaman," a number of academic folks have been using the term "ritual specialist."
(If anyone needs an explanation why you ought to use a different term, one is over here.)

Limestone, in particular, has long been a geology of burial–in part because it is so common globally, in part because its erosive tendencies create so many natural crypts into which bodies may be laid, and in part because limestone is itself, geologically speaking, a cemetery. Limestone is usually formed of the compressed bodies of marine organisms–crinoids and coccolithophores, ammonites, belemnites and foraminifera–that died in waters of ancient seas and then settled in their trillions on those seabeds.

intelligence of the signs
people tend to say gemini is an information hoarder, virgo is a hermione granger knockoff, sagittarius is wise, etc and there's something to all this, but all the signs have their own form of genius. you can tap into your innate brilliance, especially by looking at your mercury, jupiter, and sun signs (but as always, any signs that are very strong energies for you.)
aries: there's a stereotype here of impulsivity and a quick temper. impulses can be an instinctive knowledge of how to act, even if it is wise to think them over first. any anger issues are the knowledge of injustice and how to fix it.
taurus: freakishly wise about money and possessions, and how to use resources without deprivation. can be frugal yet luxurious at the same time. typically a green thumb, maybe can talk to animals.
gemini: great with sorting through huge amounts of info. internet, gossip, news. in ye olden days, poring over books although monastic life wouldn't have much suited.
cancerians: always knows when something's up even if someone insists everything is fine. also spookily great with money. not as luxurious about it as taurus, but you can stretch a dollar to feed your family for sure. you'll know the cheapest yet most nourishing solution for anything.
leo: so much social intelligence. leos know how to read a room, know how to dress and style themselves, know the right facial expressions for a given situation.
virgo: superhuman eye for detail. sometimes you might miss the forest for the trees, but you sure do know the trees, inside and out and better than anyone. it can lead to people finding virgoans overly critical, but you see every flaw AND how to fix it.
libra: while everyone has a close link between smells and memories, librans are practically psychometric about smells. they smell something and know where it's been, what it's done, and there's no fooling them or lying to them about it. their sharp eye for aesthetics, discernment, and justice also serve as forms of intelligence that can be very useful.
scorpio: they just know everything, especially about topics (people) they care about or are interested in. any active research is ten times more fruitful for scorpio people, and sometimes they just know things, the truth, without having to prove it by research. they use the piercing gaze to see into your soul.
sagittarius: this sign has a reputation for being off gallivanting when they'd be better off where you want them. but better off for whom? they really know where to go and when to be there, even if it makes no sense to anyone else. they also have a knack for coaxing honesty out of other people.
capricorn: on the one hand this is some shrewd businessperson or lawyer poring over notes, the devoted med student, maybe a lifelong librarian. there is a lot of traditional intelligence. on the other hand, capricorn has ties to the god pan, and there is also the intelligence that you only get from *really* letting loose and letting it come to you.
aquarius: underrated for their genius, aquarians are mad scientist, absentminded professor, eccentric vibes all around. the ideas and insights cannot be forced but when they occur they are superhuman.
pisces: this is the sign with the greatest connection to All That Is. therefore pisceans can know things they should otherwise have no business knowing, as they have been, are, and will be everything and everyone else, and have, on some level, those same experiences, although they may sometimes be hard to remember.

having a libra moon and/or venus in a composite chart with someone does indicate that you are able to take each other into consideration within the connection, there is a level of reciprocation, and that there is a prioritizing of peace because you don't want to have problems with them. buuuuut it also means you can have a hard time being shamelessly honest with each other and there is a tendency to brush things under the rug

Replying after this post on Pluto in Aquarius & fame
@luciddownloading said:
Great post! Something I wanted to add about the opposing signs is that my studies have shown me that the sign opposite from Pluto dictates a lot about the culture. It's no shock that throughout Pluto in Capricorn, there has actually been a more sensitive approach to social issues, a desire for more "accessible" celebs and an obsession with remaking films/shows from the past. All Cancer vibes So, continuing that theory, I actually think Pluto in Aquarius will make society and pop culture more Leo-like in many ways. Hopefully, more of a focus on individuality and not needing to look like everyone on IG, more actual creativity in Hollywood, etc. I think I will do a post on this in a day or so because I love this subject, too.
I didn't think of that! You're so right! And I have heard that before, too, that big planet transits can't be messing in one sign without dragging on the opposite sign, too. @corvoidea mentioned that Pluto in Cancer era was also really about the end of WWI, which makes a lot of sense bringing in what you said about the opposite sign affecting culture. Government and welfare, emphasis on the roles of family, etc. Those are absolutely way more Capricorn things than Cancer things.
Re: Leo-Aquarius axis part, that is so fascinating! And so true, too. Aquarius and Leo are outcasts and oriented around watching and being watched. Leo wants to express its authenticity and specialness, which absolutely matches the glitz and glamour of the period. But you're so right that we have been made to take those images as examples to model, reach for, and emulate, which is totally Aquarian. We're needing the shock to the system!
Like I said in my original post, I've been watching what's been happening to the idea of "celebrity" and trying to find patterns, but you've already got a hypothesis! Have you noticed anything so far that is inching towards what you've hypothesized? (If you wrote this in a post I hope I can find it on your blog, I'm scrolling but I may have missed it.)
Something comes to mind for me. I've heard talk about how AI could eliminate the need for actors, for example. It would be able to superimpose images of yourself and others of your choosing onto any frame and tell a story with your own face on the hero. Personally I don't think that would ever become commonplace. But I do wonder about how that affects story, and the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves, and our capacity for change (Scorpio things, which would be square in Pluto in Aquarius). This kind of thing may be very Leo.

Saturn & Jupiter: Saturn guides us through trials and restrictions, forcing us to face our truths and emerge stronger, while Jupiter takes a gentler route, filled with hope and the prospect of rewards. Both represent diverse learning journeys — one marked by discipline, and the other by adventure and happiness.

my astrology-related hot takes
i sure do have some takes. are they hot, tepid, icy? read on to find out, i'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions too <3
i love placidus house system. i know this one is hotly debated and i get it, but for myself, my own chart? i will die on the hill that placidus is the house system for me, and i feel so stiff and awkward when working with whole signs or equal houses in my own chart.
on a similar vein, not everyone agrees with interceptions/duplications (partially due to them not being a thing in some house systems), which, again, i get, but i find them to be fascinating and generally very accurate. trust a libra to be obsessed with chart imbalances, right?
i think it's possible to get lost in all the tiny, interesting pieces of astrology and overlook the basics. i do this myself, especially when i find a new and amazing rabbit hole to go down, but i believe the basics are generally going to be enough for most issues you're looking into, especially if you're looking from a self-reflection/development angle.
sometimes i feel lost as an astrologer in this community because there are many astrologers i follow that appear to have their niche figured out, and write within it so beautifully, while i haven't found my astrological 'calling' yet...
sometimes i'm wary of posts about asteroids because of how hard it can be to find good-quality literature on them. i'm worried i'll be reblogging something that someone just made up (and yes, i know it's all made up by someone, but i mean off the top of their head, without a good deal of knowledge and research behind it).
vedic astrology seems, to me at least, somewhat fatalistic and 'final' compared to western tropical. i'd love to learn more about it but it feels more formal and serious in a way; maybe that's just the articles i've read though..?
i love the astro community here on tumblr but it feels like more of a struggle to get that community feeling now than it did a few years ago. i don't exactly know what the issues are but it's a strange feeling.
i try to be a nice and positive person, but one thing that always ruins my mood is when i see posts or videos that say “(insert placement here) does this extremely toxic thing, like of course they do, they’re (insert placement here)!”. no, actually, being a gemini/eighth house moon/libra rising doesn’t excuse or guarantee awful behaviour. i thought we covered this years ago 🥲

***This is a warning for beginners within paganism and witchcraft.***
-
Sometimes people will use divination to intentionally make you feel like shit. Some people will give you readings - of any kind - to make you doubt your deity relationships, your practice, and yourself. Unfortunately, these sorts of people will especially target others who seem to be struggling in their practice (especially emotionally) or are simply unsure/new. It's fucked up, but this is the trend I've noticed.
I have seen these sorts of deceitful, shitty divination readings fuck with people's emotions and even their deity relationships, simply because they were very new to their practice and believed someone "more experienced" knew better than them. I promise you that some random ass person online does not know your deity relationships better than you do, nor do they dictate what your relationships are like. Trust what you know to be true about your deity relationships first and foremost.
People can be cruel. People can be manipulative. People can project their own feelings about themselves onto you. Always, always, ALWAYS double-check readings that you're given if you can. Never ever take information at face-value, especially if it sounds out of place or directly contradicts information you know to be true for you.
People lie, and unfortunately, people hurt others with these lies. Divination is not the end all, be all of truthful information; trust your own judgement above some random person's reading. Be careful out there.
-
This is not to say every person handing out divination readings is out to get you; I'm specifically referencing people who wish to do others harm by weaponizing divination. Please do not think that every diviner is meaning to do you harm, as that's simply not true.
