Dried Fruits and Rice, from The Official Wakanda Cookbook. I don’t think it’s really an advanced difficulty dish, as the prep wasn’t that complex.
The rice had good flavor from soaking in turmeric and the dried fruit added bits of sweetness. I didn’t care so much for the crunchy layer, but the soft grains were enjoyable.

Even though I’m not the biggest fan of A Girl For All Time, I went on Target’s website the other day to see if they still carry the brand (they don’t). Then while looking for Matilda’s extra outfits on eBay, I came across an auction for Clementine NIB. The price was decent and I ended up being the only bidder.

Her face mold is probably my least favorite of the three AGFAT dolls I have, but her outfit is adorable.

Diana, by Mary Francis Shura. Being about the Lewis and Clark Expedition, I really want to like this book. Unfortunately, the timeline of the Expedition proves to be a disadvantage to the plot.
Neither love interest starts off strong. One proclaims love at first sight, while the other calls Diana brainless. In the end Diana is the problematic one, leaving both men hanging for over two years because she’s too young to make a commitment.
Man number two should have been a throwaway. Despite what Diana thinks, they really don’t have much in common. She doesn’t understand the difference between spending leisure time outside and roughing it in the wilderness.
The first man would have been a far better choice. Not only is he from a more comprable social background to Diana, but he is a kind and empathetic person. Diana’s ultimate rejection of him feels contrived, involving a random plot twist followed by an entire year passing within a few pages.

Years ago when I first made my Agent Carter costume, I bought makeup to go with it. It was a mix of items inspired by the show, and ones that Hayley Atwell mentioned using as Peggy.
The only missing piece was the 1940 perfume from Bésame’s Decades of Fragrance line. At the time I skipped it because perfume isn’t visible on the body, and the Agent Carter makeup was very expensive on eBay.
A few days ago I saw that Bésame was having a sale, so I decided to try 1940 out. The scent definitely reminds me of Chanel No. 5 and other old fashioned perfumes. It’s not the sort of thing I would wear on a daily basis (especially since work is fragrance free), but I can see myself using it for special occasions. Luckily it’s just the right size for my Steggy shelf.

It’s so nice to have everyone out of their winter clothes and bright for spring. There are four new dolls and one new bear. (Two dolls are swap-outs of ones I already owned).
New since last time: Kaya’s pow wow outfit, Josefina’s feast day finery and heirlooms, Kirsten’s birthday outfit and two tone boots, Addy doll and Sunday best, Samantha doll, birthday outfit and party slippers, Miss AG Bear and jumper outfit, Truly Me 69 and Love Shack Fancy dress & shoes, Tiana’s work outfit, Molly doll and victory garden dress, Maryellen’s strawberry outfit, Julie’s birthday outfit, 2001 denim jumper, Mem doll and Cinderella’s ballgown, Felicity’s rose garden dress, meet accessories and birthday outfit, Nellie’s spring party outfit.
Whew, that’s a lot! Which is your favorite? It’s a tough choice, but I really like how Abigail looks in Felicity’s birthday outfit.

Braised Lamb Stew, from The Official Wakanda Cookbook. It says advanced difficulty level, but wasn’t really that hard to make. I think the most challenging part was finding the ras el hanout, which is like a Middle Eastern allspice. We couldn’t find it at the grocery store so we purchased tandoori masala, which has a lot of the same ingredients. Then my mom happened to spot ras el hanout at Cost Plus World Market, so we were able to use it after all.
Very flavorful, but didn’t get the typical stew thickness. Luckily rice soaked most of the liquid up.

After long consideration, I’ve made my first doll swap. I got Samantha years ago at Costco, but for a while I haven’t felt as much joy from her as I have from other dolls. There was a listing on Facebook for a PC Samantha, and when I messaged the seller they said that they had a booth at a local vintage mall. I went, and the doll was in good shape overall, so I bought her because she was reasonably priced. The biggest downside is that her stockings (which were the only piece I didn’t already have) are ripped.

Here is she is after a gentle cleaning and hair brush. I’ve gone ahead and dressed her for the next couple of months as well.
My Beforever Samantha is now listed for sale along with a few other dolls and lots of other items. The doll herself is in excellent shape and I did my best to list any flaws I found with her outfit. **If you purchase a doll, send me a message with code AGTUMBLR and I will throw in a Plymor 18” doll stand for free. Offer valid until stands run out.**

Meet my mini me! I’ve had a My Twinn doll since 1999, but never spent much time with her. These days she doesn’t resemble me very closely, so I wanted to look for a AG Truly Me that reflects my adult appearance. It was a toss-up between 55 and 69 as they both have wavy dark brown hair. The advantage to 55 would have been her freckles, but I decided that 69’s brown eyes were more important.
She arrived in mostly great shape. Her legs are on the loose side and her tag was cut off, so I might send her to the hospital for a limb and torso replacement.
I’m not 100% settled on a name yet, but am leaning towards Pearl. My name is Meghan which is derived from Margaret, and Margaret comes from the Greek word for Pearl. As a June baby, it is also my birthstone. Finally, one of my great-grandmothers was named Edna Pearl.

Sabrina, by Candice F. Ransom. During my first read-through of the series a decade ago, this was one of my favorites. But now I’m not as enthralled. Sabrina is a very passive character, which is admittedly a nice change from some of the other protagonists who are too headstrong for their own good. But she just lets things happen to her, and is absolutely terrible at espionage.
There is one glaring inaccuracy throughout the text. It frequently refers to the city that Sabrina lives in as Charleston, however that spelling was not adopted until shortly after the war. In 1780 it would have still been Charles Towne.
In this book both love interests are tolerable. One is a Tory, but that doesn’t seem to matter at all despite Sabrina and her family being staunch Patriots. The other man is more compatible with her, but their relationship is stilted for a long time. In the end the deciding factor is who is more committed to South Carolina.

I recently learned that Juli Lynne Charlot, the original creator of the poodle skirt, passed away this month. Maryellen decided to honor her memory by dressing up, dreaming of the day when she will be old enough to attend sock hops (and maybe even make an appearance on American Bandstand).

Cassie, by Vivian Schurfranz. I can’t help but compare this book to the Dear America diary Standing in the Light. One of the biggest differences is that Cassie had been captured as a toddler, while Caty had been captured as a teen. Both girls experience a culture shock when they return to their birth communities, but in different ways.
Cassie is consistently in love with a man who keeps her in the friend zone, as he doesn’t think his lifestyle is compatible with marriage. The other man makes his romantic intentions clear from the start, but has zero tolerance for her past with the Mohawk. There’s really only one choice that could make her feel free to be herself.
Later on when events lead Cassie to visit the Mohawk village, the plot becomes unbelievable. Despite obtaining multiple injuries, Cassie attempts to run and ride across rugged terrain, and always gets caught. She never learns her lesson.

Give Me A Beet Hummus, from The Burn Cookbook. My mom is the only person in the house who likes beets, so I didn’t particularly enjoy the smell of preparation. But with the lemon juice and tahini, the taste was masked.
It took a long time to get the ingredients blended together, as the chickpeas absorbed a lot of moisture. It made a large batch that lasted for several days.

Hi! Love your historical CC! Just wondered - have you thought about converting all your American Girl nightgowns for teen-elders? There's a serious lack of historical pajamas for women, and I think these would be perfect!
This question would be better directed at my simblr @historicalfictionsims, as I have not used my main blog for CC in the past few years.
Child to adult conversions are a little more complicated than the other way around, but I have done it before so it's a possibility. Maybe I'll add it to my list of conversion ideas.
Thank you!
