And I’ll be picking you up at 2 for your late lunch appointment, as we discussed yesterday so yes, you will indeed see me later”. His face became one of slight worry. “Are you alright? Perhaps you should cut down on caffeine”.

Okay okay we talk a lot about Roland/Isono being a father figure for Seto and/or Mokuba but

What about the other way around?

Because honestly I can’t imagine someone being that devoted unless they really really want to protect those kids at any cost. A 16-year-old and an 11-year-old who have too much danger surrounding them and too many people wanting to harm them because they got so much power.

He puts up with Extra McGee Seto’s weird behavior like throwing expensive ass gadgets at him instead of handing them over like a normal person without complaint, with regularly being put through about 30 near heart attacks at once, but also stays around for them even when Seto is no longer his boss, he takes his role as right hand man in the company seriously and keeps all the secrets, but also supports their passions (like ridiculously big Duel Monsters tournaments) in any way they ask. And of course he nearly collapses when Mokuba is in actual danger.

I’m sure he is some sort of father figure to them, but they most definitely are like his own children or nephews or god-children to him. He most likely is one of the very few people who knows their full history too and just wants to protect them.

When Roland/Isono finally gets married he of course invites the Kaiba brothers. Seto is a little reluctant to go, after all, business and private should be kept apart. Plus, public displays of affection and all that jazz. But Mokuba eventually convinces him they should go, which brings up the question of what to buy for him.

Not a big issue to Mokuba, who knows how to socialise and what is on their wishlist. For Seto, it takes a little more effort.

In between, he overhears against his will, that he and his wife-to-be are expecting a child, although they are not very far along yet. Nothing Seto quite considers his business, but still can’t help remember.

When Seto eventually appears—still shocking and deeply touching Isono—he is holding a relatively small present.

Not expecting much, he opens the present first regardless, and finds what seems to be only a short letter at first. For a second he believes it to be a note letting him know Kaiba Corp is letting him go.

Instead, he finds out that Seto opened a bank account for their future child—and all coming children they might possibly have—with a generous starting amount he will add to over the years, assured that only their children will have access to it for whatever they need it for. May it be a good school/university or a home. This is followed by a short, but (for Kaiba levels) personal note promising to make sure his family is protected just like isono made sure to protect him and Mokuba for years.

While most people consider it a nice, but not too big gesture, considering he is Kaiba, Isono, knowing the full history of the Kaiba brothers, what happened to them, what their own family did to them, is deeply moved to know that Seto’s first instinct was to protect the children from the same harm done to him, should tragedy strike.

Once the child is born Isono for once breaks the rule of keeping work and private life separate, to ask Seto if he wants to be the godfather.

Seto is more touched than he would ever let on, but just as worried that should it come down to it, he would fail the job.

He couldn't help but chuckle. "I suppose it is". Mokuba may be a teen heading into adulthood, but Isono knew that at times, he would still be a child.

His head laid heavily against Isono’s chest, somewhere between being asleep and awake at this point. There were a few mumbles before his words were even coherent. 

“You moved me from my spot and this is your fate now.”

He just blinked before wrapping his arms around the teen. Carefully the bodyguard sat down on the bed, stroking his hair. "Something on your mind, Mokuba-sama?"

No he’s not. Dadsono is going to decently put him to bed. Sleeping like that will give you pains in the morning, Mokuba-sama, and your body is still growing.

Oh wow would you look at that it seems in the short time Isono went to try and properly put him in bed Mokuba had wrapped his arms around the bodyguard. He’s not gonna budge.

Goes to lay on his bed but only really gets half his body on it. The other half just sort of hanging off. This is good enough and he’s gonna sleep like this.

//A small PSA

I am leaving for the UK on the 16th, and I have a convention that weekend and the weekend after. Work has been giving me extra shifts and I have two cosplays to finish before I leave.
