boys and men do not instantly become "the man of the house" when an older male disappears, leaves or passes away. there doesn't always need to be "a man of the house"- women and people are not completely defenseless, we do not inherently need men to protect us.

boys should never be responsible for protecting their mothers and parents- they are not suddenly a man because a man disappeared. you realize this shit messes little boys up and traumatizes them beyond repair, right? to force them to grow up in a week, in a day, overnight? to replace an entire adult in their lives? why is that a child's responsibility? it isn't. let boys be boys FIRST, then allow them to GROW into men. we're giving little boys complexes before they even realize why they have them.

was talking to my gf about my fear of dying young for being trans and my mom putting my deadname on my gravestone, and she said "i hope that never happens, but if it does, i will carve your name into your grave myself if i have to." and i think theres something extremely raw about that sentiment and trans community in general. you can kill only our bodies, but you cant kill transsexuality
