I’ve been getting into Dungeon Meshi lately. I wasn’t really sold when I was told the initial concept but after watching one episode I was super into it. It’s really cute and clever!

Oh what's the tea with hazbin animation?

So this is a big point of contention with me because it’s not really just the animation that I had beef with. They clearly put their whole ass into the A shots and a lot of them were beautifully done but that consistency was sorely lacking and you could see a clear divide between the A/senior shots and the junior shots as a result. There was also a lot of choppy animation that didn’t feel intentional.

This problem was exacerbated by the composition and framing of some of the shots. A lot of the time the editing was not good, and cuts were unmotivated or sloppy. Also there would be cuts that had the same character and inbetween shots the characters model would change drastically. (A good example of this that immediately comes to mind for me is in the hells greatest dad song there is a bit where Alastair is playing the piano and it cuts to a different angle and all of a sudden he’s like 2 feet taller and his arms are longer and he’s in a completely different position. This shit is so noticeable.)

Also when it comes to editing, this show has a major problem with its camera. It won’t stay the fuck still. I thought I was gunna throw up from motion sickness half the time.

You can blame a lot the animation problems on the designs of the character or budget/time constraints. Almost every animator friend I have thinks this show is ugly and the animation is hard to watch at points. I only gave it a chance because I liked the music and I’m a huge fan of musicals. I also think that even if you don’t like the show (don’t discourse with me I will start blocking people) that it is a big W for the animation industry right now. The industry is a flaming dumpster fire and this is kind of a highlight of success. Sorry to ramble.

Wait, you’re an actual TV show pitch person??? Were those ‘Ace Attorney’ clips part of a pitch too: is that why they were so absurdly high quality?

I'm not a pitch person, I'm just an animator who participated in some pitch competitions. The animations were just for fun. The only one that was for the competition was the Breakfast Guild Clip.

I watched Hazbin Hotel. As an animator, I initially wasn't going to, but as a musical fan it seemed right up my alley. The vocal performances were the best part, and the animation ranged from noticabley terrible to stunning. Overall, it was fun.

I didn't know The Breakfast Guild was originally a webcomic! Do you have a place to read it online?

On the last page of the pitch there is a website that is where I put all of the comics. Unfortunately I don’t really update it anymore because it ended up being too much work for me. There are four chapters that are the old version of the comic and one chapter of the new version. Both a pretty old now though.

This is the pitch packet I submitted both Pitch THIS! and TAAFI's Big Pitch. I made it to the top two in both competitions. It was put together with the help of my boyfriend, who rewrote the character profiles and initial summary. I wanted to share it.

It was always my dream to pitch my own show, and last year I got the opportunity to do it twice. Even though nothing really came of it, it was a huge accomplishment for me. This was put together very quickly and is slap-dash as a result, but if I can do it, anyone can.

I feel like I don't draw my characters enough. I've been pretty down for a bit and so I just drew this for myself. (About the dragon, it's a side character from a short story I wrote, originally intended to be a comic. It's a coffee dragon who has a horde of novelty mugs, later adopted by Pancakes.)

So my favourite Ace Attorney thing is when they give characters with a mentor/mentee (or a familial) relationship matching sprites. I don't know, Iris and Sholmes' matching sprites are just really cute.

I've been working on a few of these mini comics since the christmas holidays. Lots of Breakfast Guild and some Ace Attorney comics. I wanted to do a lot of comics that showed the downtime with my characters when they're not doing the main story and adventuring. It's a lot easier than drawing the main story.

A lot of these comic ideas were inspired by playing Baldurs Gate 3 and really getting into the Dungeons and Dragons vibes.

You've seen Maya McFey, here's her cousin Pearly McFey. This will probably be the last Ace Attorney pic I do in the TGAMM art style. That part of my life has been over for months now and now that the season 2 finale is coming out, I think it might be time to move on for me.

After I made my pitch demo video for The Breakfast Guild, a lot of people said that my designs were too brown. I wanted to give Pancakes some fruit based outfit variations to add more colours.
