It’s sad. That unconditional love and loyalty Cassie is looking for in a man is what she had with Maddy. She threw away what she always wanted without even realizing it.

Honestly in my mind, Jon and Martin did survive. But because of everyone hating the archivist like Basira was talking about, they are in hiding. They have new identities and living their best lives. Prove me wrong.

Some of my favorite Laurie and Amy lines from Little Women
‘“He [Laurie] has promised to be very good today, and he can be perfectly elegant if he likes,” Amy returned and gliding away to warn Hercules to beware of the dragon, which warning caused him to haunt the old lady with a devotion that nearly distracted her.’
‘“Good evening Diana!” Said Laurie, with the look of satisfaction she [Amy] liked to see in his eyes when they rested on her. “Good evening Apollo!” She answered, smiling back at him.’
‘“Oh, Laurie, Laurie, I knew you’d come to me!” I think everything was said and settled then, for they stood together quite silent for a moment, with the dark head bent down protectingly over the light one.’
‘Neither had read it, but they knew it was a love story, and each privately wondered if it was half as interesting as their own.’

Lily Elsie
Miss Lily Elsie made her name on the opening night of The Merry Widow, in London, on 8th June 1907. Overnight she had the town at her feet. On the stage Elsie seemed mysteriously beautiful with her perfect Grecian profile, enormous blue eyes, and hauntingly sad smile. Tall, cool, and lily-like, she moved with lyrical gestures in a slow-motion grace. Although her fame and fortune came entirely from public appearances she was painfully shy. After just a few years on the stage she retired to a quite life away from the public eye. She did however leave us with hundreds of pictures, a few gramophone discs, and two films, to remember her by.

You didn’t really love her more than you do me. Cause your goodness and your rightness- you never gave either one of us an inch, ever for what you thought was right! You kept on forgiving us, you never really loved us. I know why you didn’t love me. Cause I’m like my mother. And you never forgave yourself for having loved her.
East of Eden by Elia Kazan (1955)

Even a ruby loses luster beside your lips. It will take a sapphire and an emerald together to match your blue green eyes.

All around the Romans, Charleston Harbor erupted like a Las Vegas fountain putting on a show. When the wall of seawater subsided, the three Romans were in the bay, spluttering and frantically trying to stay afloat in their armor. Percy stood on the dock, holding Annabeth’s dagger.
“You dropped this,” he said, totally poker-faced. (insp.)

THE SONG OF ACHILLES | Chapter by Chapter
                                                                ↳ Chapter One
“This is what a son should be.”
My hands feel empty without the garland. I watch King Peleus embrace his son. I see the boy toss the garland in the air and catch it again. He is laughing, and his face is bright with victory.
