I apologize for my absence. A lot of things hit me since late February but, I have some fun (and angsty) commissions from the kind @pepperedappels and @rianisbeststoneboi

#this is about UniVerse: a dark crystal odyssey#NO PUPPETS#not surprised just disappointed#by disappointed i mean furious#as a contemporary dance work it was great 4 stars#as something supposedly inspired by the dark crystal rubbish 1 star#if i hadn't know it was dark crystal i would never have made the connection#if you want to do a powerful dance work about environment balance and connection you could've done that#what is the point of taking high fantasy inspo to make something about the modern world#urgh

I agree with everything OP said in their tags. I saw the matinee show this afternoon and while I's already heard from people that there was almost no reference at all to the actual Dark Crystal it was still extremely disappointing

Like what was the point of showing the picture of the oil rig that was on fire or the Nasa satellite dishes when they could have easily replaced those images with scenes from the movie? For frick sake they didn't even use any of the music from the movies or had any costuming even resembling the characters (like who approved the brown bodysuits to represent the Mystics and weird black pufferjackets for the skeksis??)

All in all I'm extremely disappointed I traveled *all the way to a different country* to see this show only for it to be the farthest thing from a ballet about the Dark crystal as possible

Mira took the boys home to the highlands in the mountains around Har’ar (Where I like to believe she lived before she came to the castle for guardwork) to meet her mothers, two farmers living an honest hard working life but happy to have each other and a daughter that they’re beyond proud of! And the boys she brought home don’t look too shabby either, she must be keeping good company at the castle. They do look a little nervous though. And … Sweaty.
