- Kaito’s jacket is one of his most prized possessions. It was most likely fairly expensive, and the underside is shiny, so he visually stims using it - he doesn’t like letting other people borrow it because it’s a comfort object. Even so, when it’s cold out and Shuichi isn’t wearing enough layers, he’ll drape it across his sidekick’s shoulders without warning, explanation, or expectation.

- Needless to say, this flusters Shuichi a LOT

- When he’s angry or overworked about something, contact can REALLY help to calm Kaito down. Shuichi discovered this via holding his boyfriend’s hand post-meltdown. It later becomes a staple between the two whenever Kaito becomes emotionally overstimulated.

- When Kaito says he wants Shuichi to lean on him, to use him for emotional support, he fucking MEANS IT. He wants Shuichi to know that he cares about him, to know that he would do anything to see Shuichi smile, that he would do anything to make Shuichi happy. He wants, more than anything in the world, to be Shuichi’s hero.

- It’s such a foreign experience for Shuichi to have, but he deeply, deeply appreciates it. And not only is he grateful and lovesick for his supportive husband, but he wants Kaito to know that the sentiment is mutual; that a sidekick’s role is to pick up whatever slack the hero can’t pick up for themself, that a sidekick is there for the hero to lean on, too. It’s an intimate bond, one that takes getting used to, but neither of them would trade it for anything.

- ya ever think about the fact that, realistically, Kaito would at some point become a full-fledged astronaut and go to space. Can you IMAGINE how simultaneously worried, excited, and lonely Shuichi would feel? Just……the secondhand happiness…….the anxiety over everything that could possibly happen……the emptiness he feels when crawling into their big bed, all alone……..

- Kaito definitely prepares Shuichi for every eventuality, too. It’s not intended to overwhelm him or anything, just little “these are the very real risks of what I’m doing, and I need you to understand and be okay with that.”
