9 No-Skip Albums

@pseudotsugas tagged me in this and I think it's super fun! About 3 years ago now I transitioned my music library all to physical media so I listen to a lot of albums all the way through. I tend to buy Greatest Hits type albums so I don't have to swap the CD after one song, but that's cheating so this list won't include any of those)

Brothers In Arms - Dire Straits. Tell me there's a song on this album you don't like. You'll sound nuts.

Tunnel of Love - Bruce Springsteen. Of course the Boss was going to be on here. This album is the only one I'm a vinyl snob for... you need real speakers to hear the throbby bass synth behind the whole thing. (I was contemplating Born in the USA but chose this over it on account of BitUSA is a little overplayed).

Getting Into Knives - the Mountain Goats. I wanted to limit myself to only one tmg album and Songs for Pierre Chuvin has The Wooded Hills Along the Black Sea.

Hozier - Hozier. I also really like Wasteland Baby but I have yet to find it on CD.

Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance. Gun to my head I'm skipping the title track.

Day and Age - The Killers. Every time I listen through this album I say "oh shit that's right this song is on this album!" And them I say it every song.

Oral Fixation - Shakira. Now we're getting into albums that I'm not skipping anything on, but I'm not truly listening through either. Till now if any of these songs came on shuffle I'd blast it but there's songs from this tax evader that I'd only really listen to in the context of the album.

Quelqu'un m'a dit - Carla Bruni. Je sais que c'est 'basic' mais c'est bon. Voici.

The Best of John Denver Live - John Denver. I know this is cheating but he does a little medley of Leaving on a Jetplane and Goodbye Again that makes me shit myself crying.

To anyone who believes fairy tale romances never happen in real life, may I remind you that JRR and Edith Tolkien met and experienced a forbidden love in their youth, and then were separated for five whole years because of his guardian’s rules that he could not date till he was 21, and she got engaged to someone else only because she assumed he’d forgotten her and lost hope that she could ever be with him, but then on his 21st birthday, he wrote her a letter saying he still loved her and wanted to marry her, she responded basically saying ‘if I’d known you hadn’t left me on the shelf, I would never have said yes to anyone else,’ then a week later she greeted him at the train station and then immediately dumped her fiancé, and they got married and she converted to his religion and danced for him in a flowering field far away from the trenches into which he was drafted, which left such an impression that he crafted an entire story about the most beautiful maiden in the world who danced in the woods and made enormous sacrifices to be with the man she loved, and they had four kids and remained faithful to each other and blissfully grew old together and their gravestones are now marked with the names of that same fictional couple that he created, who broke every rule and overcame every possible obstacle to be together and get a happy ending, who only did all that because he based it all on their own real love story.
