Keep in mind, all of my AU Butchlander threadfics on Twitter are the unpolished first draft versions of what’ll eventually be polished up into long fics on AO3 under the Shock and Awe series. So you may regard this threadfic as an experimental first prototype and exclusive preview whose contents may or may not be changed in the future final draft version. We’re just loosely playing around with ideas and concepts for now!

A/N: I'd originally planned on putting this threadfic's first reader interactive poll at the end of this update (y'all can influence the plot direction this threadfic goes with each poll this'll have), but ultimately decided nah it'd fit better in the next update.

In this update, notice how the watch came back into play? It'd been foreshadowed in the earlier updates, where Billy wanders around Homelander's suite and fiddles with the leather strap (*cough*almostlikethere'smaybeaSupeproofspycaminside*cough*). And when he'd disappeared momentarily to HL's living room to fetch the water (guess who might have sneakily slipped the watch between the leather sofa cushion seats). It's referencing a CIA manipulation tactic ("bump") where the agent manufactures a reason to orchestrate a second meeting with the target of interest.

I am, by the way, open to ⚠️🔞 reader suggestions~. I make no promises that I’ll write it, but this threadfic is meant as a shameless excuse to write 🔞 butchlander spice, haha, and provide y’all some content during our butchlander drought. I have one reader suggestion thus far, and it involves candle wax. 🕯️

i need more of shy!stolas. the one we got a peak at in ep 7 and now the one we saw in ep 8. the one that's totally smitten with blitzo and stutters and flails to impress and gain his attention.

i need him to express to blitzo just how much he cares, and i need him to grab blitzo by the face and just, "no. NO. you will not put words in my mouth! i love you, blitzo! I have since the first time i saw you swing by all those years ago. when you struggled to make that balloon horse, but never gave up and made me laugh with your joke. you still make me laugh and smile and feel alive. you make me want to be more than i am. i never want to be apart from you but you've always been driven - you're living your dream! i worry every time you leave on a mission, but i know how important your business is to you. you're caring and loving and protective. i love that you care so much for your little family - you're more than a great boss."

“I know that you’re always watching me, Butcher.” Homelander’s eyes were unnervingly blue and piercing, wide open and unblinking the entire time—like a pair of blackholes the viewer couldn’t look away from. “You’ve chased after me this long, hoping for a chance that I’d look back and see you. …Well, tiger, you got your wish. Big day’s coming. I know we’ve had our share of misunderstandings. But it’s time to finally put the past behind us and start brand new. Don’t think I’ve forgotten our promise. Gun Terms for Writers

As someone who writes fics with action sequences and the use of guns, I thought maybe it would be helpful to pass some things on. Even though I’ve done lots of research and talked with family members (I live in WI which is a big hunting state and we have lots of guns), I still catch myself making mistakes with specific terms and their usage. Reading more James Bond fics lately, I catch others making mistakes also. So here is a little guide to help writers. 

A ‘clip’ is something that stores multiple rounds of ammunition. It is not what you would insert into a handgun to load it. Clips make loading into a magazine easier because they simply store the rounds. It helps with organization. 

A magazine is what feeds the ammunition into the barrel. Magazines vary in capacity. They, unlike clips, are spring-loaded, which helps the ammunition move in the gun. So, when you want a character to reload, they would use a pre-loaded magazine, NOT a clip. 

A silencer is really a suppressor. ‘Silencer’ is a word that’s used in media to refer to a suppressor that doesn’t exist in real life. Guns that are suppressed will still be loud and have a sound. This is because compressed air will still leak out of the end of the barrel, you can’t silence a bullet moving extremely fast through the air, and you can’t silence the mechanical parts on a gun. There will be a noise, but it just won’t be as loud or more importantly, alert people in a nearby area that a gun was just fired. SO suppressor is a much more accurate term technically speaking. 

There are different kinds of suppressors. One important kind suppresses the muzzle flash. It’s likely a sniper would use this more than they would want to use a sound suppressor, as the muzzle flash more easily enables you to be spotted when you don’t want to be. These are simply referred to as flash suppressors. 

After a handgun runs out of ammunition, the slide will lock back into place and you will know that it is out. There is no ‘click’ signifying an empty weapon that is so dramatized in movies and tv. A more likely scenario that would prevent a gun from firing would be a jam. Or programming the gun to recognize certain palm prints. 

A great place for writers, in particular fanfic writers, who want information on guns is imfdb. You can find out what guns are used in movies and shows, and what guns characters use. You can also just search for guns. 

If you want to get really specific, check out YouTube. There are users who will post reviews of guns on there, which can be really helpful if you want to see how a particular gun looks or how to shoot it. 

So yeah! Here are just a few basic tips if you want to write a fic where a character uses guns.
