The Masked Singer Season 5 Costumes Overview/Rating

Hello my fellow Masked Singer peeps! I am back woohoo for Ana’s Masked Singer recap. First, I gotta start this out with a huge apology that I haven’t done recaps for The Masked Dancer’s Season 1 Costumes/Competition. I was so busy with school and all that, and I completely forgot to post recaps but I am back baby (on a semi regular basis because I am still in college and it is proving to be crazy but I will not abandon you guys and I will do what I do best which is recap The Masked Singer). Anyways, The Masked Dancer was great and all, I really enjoyed it, but honestly I am glad The Masked Singer is back, it’s so much more exciting. So, yeah SEASON 5 WHAT?! How insane, I can’t believe we are at 5 seasons, and things are about to change (according to articles I have heard about what will happen this upcoming season).

1. The format is gonna be different= there are 10 main contestants and probably 3-5 wildcards that will apparently replace the second to last ranked contestant (like someone gets eliminated and then the person with the least votes after that person goes I guess)

2. Since Nick Cannon tested positive for COVID in the beginning of shooting the show, Neicy Nash is taking his place temporarily as guest host.

3. There’s an 11th mask that will be delivering the clues (who I will get into when I talk about the costumes)

4. And apparently like all the damn promos and that song that they put in the background of the promos says: IT’S A GAME CHANGER (whatever that means, they say it A LOT)

Anyways, having said that, let’s get into the costumes woohoo (just the 10 main ones and that random 11th one because we don’t know what the wildcards are just yet):

1. The “Clue-da-doo” or as I call it a freaking Rooster 🐓

[Tumblr gave me a limit of 10 photos so I can’t place it here, but you guys can Google it since I didn’t wanna split this into 2 parts]

Rating: 8/10

Ok so this is that random 11th mask that I spoke about that will be delivering the clues, I honestly don’t know what to make of that concept and I have a lot of questions about how this will play out, but I am not judging it until I see the first episode. However, judging on the costume, it’s cool I like it, I feel like it should be a contestant and not whatever it is now, I really don’t understand it very well, but whatever I guess we can’t all have what we want. Also, this costume looks exactly like Gallo from the Mexican Masked Singer aka Quien es la mascara (and I don’t usually point these things out because I don’t know any other international MS shows except for maybe UK and Australia... but I know the Mexican one very well (don’t ask, I love Mexican telenovelas, but that’s not the point)... but with this one, I was like hmmm I have seen this before and I searched it up and BAM identical) and I honestly don’t know what to make of it. I docked it a point for it ngl because they could have been more creative with it. Oh and also, that name?! Clue-da-doo?! What is that?! I ain’t calling it that... it’s a freaking Rooster 🐔, nobody come at me for that.

2. Piglet 🐷

Rating: 10/10

This one is so cute, I love it so much, it gives me Winnie the Pooh vibes even with the name. I really wanted a pig mask on the show so this one is Ana approved for sure. I really love it and also I saw a sneak peak of him singing and I also really love it!

The Masked Singer Season 5 Episode 1 Recap: The “Game Changing” Premiere, Let’s Meet Group A (Commentary & Guesses)

Hello my fellow Masked Singer friends! Welcome (or welcome back) to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every episode of the Masked Singer! Woohoo, the first one of Season 5 and I am so excited wow! Season 5 was off to an amazing start, with Group A performing for the first time. I really enjoyed this one, so let’s get into the recap:

Ok, so to start, we have a new host aka Neicy Nash, and I really liked her, she was like the female version of Nick Cannon. I enjoyed her banter with Ken too so it was great I liked it a lot.

Also, let’s talk about the infamous cluedadoo or how I am gonna call him the freaking “Rooster” 🐓🐔 who is not really an actual contestant competing but he is feeding us the clues (hehe see what I did there?) ...

He was kind of mysterious and I am intrigued honestly, but I still have so many questions, will he have clues? He did say that we have to guess who he is as well so how will this work? Anyways having said that, let’s get into the main 5 of Group A which are Snail 🐌, Seashell 🐚, Russian Dolls 🪆, Raccoon 🦝, and Robopine 🦔.

Let’s start with the eliminated contestant who was

The Snail 🐌

Commentary: He sang You Make My Dreams by Hall & Oats and it was good, nothing amazing or mind blowing (we’ll get to those performances later), but I didn’t expect him to go home first (I’ll explain who I expected later too). I really enjoyed it personally, the song is well known and catchy, I was bopping my head. It was a solid performance. I would give it a rating of a 7/10. I kind of felt the same way about Baby Alien last season that I felt about Snail going home.

Anyways, having said that, he was revealed to be (to my surprise)...

The Masked Singer Season 5 Episode 4 Recap: Group B once again with a wildcard (Commentary & Guesses)

Hi everybody! Welcome or welcome back to Ana’s Masked Singer recap where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. We’re back with Group B and this time we have a surprise wildcard which stay tuned until the end for that one. So yeah let’s get into that, starting with the *sigh* eliminated contestant (oof this one is gonna be um interesting to say the least because I have a lot of opinions and probably so do you so here we are... let’s do this)

Grandpa Monster 👹 👴🏻

Commentary: Am I surprised? Not in the slightest bit. He was honestly the weakest link of Group B, even though he didn’t suck, he was actually pretty ok (I am not gonna say good, ok is the best word I will use) , but he really ruined it with this performance of Bad Reputation by Joan Jett. It was like he was thinking who cares if I sound good, I am just gonna throw caution into the wind (is that how the saying goes? Idk). It kind of had the same energy as Sarah Pailin aka the bear in season 3 singing Baby Got Back. It wasn’t awful, just meh at best.

So yeah, he was revealed to be (as I unfortunately expected/guessed)...

Masked Singer Season 5 Episode 3 Recap: Group A Returns With a Wildcard (Commentary & Guesses)

Hi guys! Welcome or welcome back to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. Ok, so I'm on time this time I swear (I try to do these the weekend after the show airs or Friday), and now we are starting to get the wildcards which was super exciting and Joel Mchale was guest judging so it was a very fun episode to watch! We’re back onto Group A but this time someone new joins the group, so stay tuned until the end to talk about that someone. Anyways, let’s get into it, starting with the eliminated contestant:

Commentary: honestly, I am not even the slightest bit surprised that he got eliminated... he should have gone home earlier but that’s neither here nor there, the Masked Singer likes to do that to us so whatever. But like honestly this is gonna sound mean, and look, not everyone is a singer, and he gave it the good old college try and I respect the hell out of that, but omg all I gotta say about his performance of Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash is yikes. That’s it, that’s all I gotta say about that... anyways, let’s reveal this rodent or mammal, idk man who told you guys I was an animal expert?!

The Masked Singer Season 5 Episode 12 aka the last one of the season: THE FINALE BABY... we be done! (Commentary & Everyone’s Unmasked so Guessing No More)

Hello everyone! Welcome or welcome back to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. This is the last one for a while until season 6 comes out (I might be doing other pop culture stuff on this blog... I feel like it is turning into just a Masked Singer blog lol but I promise this time between seasons I will 100% be doing more dynamic stuff... I mean AGT is coming on Tuesday so who knows? I don’t wanna make promises, but we’ll see what I get ideas wise) and the finale didn’t disappoint (well, it kinda did, but we’ll talk about it in a min). 3 people got unmasked and we are gonna go in reverse place wonder (as in 3rd then 2nd then 1st place) so yeah let’s get into it...

Alright so firstly, the mask who came in 3rd place is...

Who was revealed to be (as I and a lot of others suspected)

Wiz Khalifa

Commentary: Yeah, I mean this doesn’t surprise me one bit (both who he was and that he was 3rd), this so reminds me of season 3 when it ended. He sang Gangsta’s Paradise by Coolio and it was good, nothing different to his other performances. He is a great rapper y’all, he’s Wiz freaking Khalifa (he said people might think he is too cool for this show, because he legit is too cool for this show), but yeah I just feel like the other 2 are better SINGERS and this is the Masked SINGER so like a rapper who doesn’t sing (because T-Pain is a rapper who could sing and he won season 1) winning really doesn’t make sense tbh. I knew this one tho, so we are at 12 out of the 13 revealed so far that I guessed correctly.

Now onto our runner-up who was...

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episodes 9 and 10: Group A & B Finals (Recap/Commentary)

Hello everyone! Long time no see, it’s been a crazy past couple of weeks ending the semester in college, you know finals and such, but I am back! This one’s gonna be quick and easy recap of the 2 episodes I missed, which are the finals for both groups individually… so here we go, starting with Group A:

Group A was Bull vs Skunk, they each performed twice, once alone and once in a duet with a celebrity

Starting off with the eliminated contestant aka Skunk 🦨

Solo Performance: she sang I Never Loved a Man by Aretha Franklin, and wow yeah like all of her performances, this was insanely strong. Her voice is insane, she is such a soul diva, it’s amazing! Her voice is just so classic and enjoyable to hear. (Tbh this round was to me the most difficult in terms of who is staying/who’s going)

Then, she got to do a duet with the one and only Micheal Bolton, singing Ain’t No Mountain High Enough

Duet Performance: This is where I feel Bull edged her out a tiny bit… their voices are insanely strong like wow it’s freaking Micheal Bolton, he’s a legend for real. The man’s older and he still has a pristine voice, he can SANGGGG and so can she, but their voices don’t really go together as well as opposed to Bull’s celebrity duet (which I will talk ab later).

Anyways, she was revealed to be (as I guessed prob 100 times):

Ms. Faith Evans herself

Yeah, well, I knew it! We’re at I believe 11.5/12 correct at this moment. However, this one was a super close call and it was hard seeing her leave.

Now, onto the winner of Group A, The Bull!*

*(Aka Todrick Hall just in case you don’t know my guess for him)

Solo Performance: He sang Straight Up by Paula Abdul and the man pulled every single trick in the book and it was impressive. He really did all the Broadway things that will make an audience’s jaw drop… whistle tones, splits, a trust fall onto a group of dancers, kicks, spins, the raspy rock n roll thing people do I guess idk what to call it, even ending it with a back bend on the ground. Like WHAT?! This guy can put on a show!

Then, his celeb duet performance was with the one and only Turtle himself, Mr. Jesse McCartney, singing Breakeven by The Script

Duet Performance: Whoever picked this song needs a prize man! This was perfect for these two guys, like it showed their falsetto and their range and they harmonized amazingly. It also made both of their voices shine and gave Bull a chance to show a softer and emotional side than what he showed in the other performance, which I feel gave him the edge over Skunk. He showed he is a versatile performer, and Jesse was an amazing addition!

Alright, now moving onto the Group B Finals which were similar in format:

Group B was Banana Split vs Queen of Hearts, with 2 performances as well: a solo performance and a duet, but this time with 2 of the panelists

Let’s begin with our eliminated contestants, Banana Split

Solo Performance: they performed Singin’ In the Rain by Arthur Freed and they are just as showmen as Bull is, like she tapped dance for god’s sake. Again, though, this one was also a really close call between the 2, but QOH did edge them out vocally honestly… and we already have a showmen with Bull so I guess it’s ok. I was a bit upset they left because she’s insane and he’s such a genius composer.

For their duet, they got to sing with Robin Thicke Don’t You Worry About a Thing by Stevie Wonder

Duet Performance: This one I actually liked better than the QOH one, because Robin is amazing at harmonizing with whoever he sings with and it sounded fantastic. They really with this song got to have so much fun and show off their falsetto and those high notes were exquisite! Their voices really worked so well together I really loved it!

Anyways, they were revealed to be (again I suspected this 100 times):

David Foster and Katherine McPhee

Yay 12.5/13! This one did upset me, because I was really hoping they can be the first duo to win it all but it’s ok. They did amazing tho, that doesn’t negate that fact.

Ok, now for our Group B winner, Queen of Hearts*:

*aka Jewel, if you didn’t know who my guess is

Solo Performance: She sang Bird Set Free by Sia and it was a great song choice! She did edge Banana Split out with her voice because it was such a huge voice with that song where she really showcased her range instead of being really fun and energetic like the Banana Split. I just wish she did do more energetic performances and moved around a bit more, but I get that the costume is restraining.

Moving on, for her duet, she sang with Nicole Scherzinger Dream On by Aerosmith

Duet Performance: I hate being a negative Nancy, but this one was good and all because Nicole and her are amazing, but this song was not it. Nicole was overpowering QOH and there was not real harmonizing. The huge large note could have been an opportunity for QOH to showcase what she can do but Nicole had to take over and it just felt like 2 voices competing for the main dominance. It was my least favorite duet for sure.

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episode 8: Group B Semifinals, Another Double Elimination in the Cards (Commentary & Guesses)

Hello everyone! Welcome to Ana's Masked Singer recap, where I recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. Last week, four Group B semifinalists performed and there was another double elimination as stated in the title above. Again, I’m very sorry about this being late, I may not include the clues this time around either since they take me the most time. It’s been a super busy week for me with school and work, I am so exhausted mentally. However, thanksgiving is right around the corner, happy thanksgiving to all my American peeps… anyways, having said that, let’s get into the recap (this week there is no episode so I will be back next week):

The Group B performers are Caterpillar 🐛, Banana Split 🍌🍦, Queen of Hearts 🫀, and Mallard 🦆.

Starting off, let's talk about the first elimination of the night, which was…

Mallard 🦆

Performance: So, this result wasn’t surprising to me whatsoever but if you have followed my recaps, you probably already knew that he’s not my cup of tea. He sang Fly by Sugar Ray which ironically is the band that Orca from last year is from. It was a very weak song choice for him, probably one of the worst (besides that Flo Rida song he sang the 2nd time he performed), because his voice only kind of works with country songs and when he goes out of that, you can tell he’s not a pro singer. But again, this is not a show for pro singers even tho the majority of people who have won are pros.

Having said that, he was revealed to be (hehe I knew it)…

Willie Robertson from Duck Dynasty (pun completely intended)

Yayyyyy another one bites the dust! I’m really on a roll this season hehe… right now, we are at 10.5/11 reveals correct thus far! How exciting, I be on a roll woohoo! Anyways, yeah I was not surprised whatsoever by this reveal, but it was a fun one, so u go Willie!

Now onto the next reveal who was…

*DRUMROLL PLEASE*

Caterpillar 🐛

Performance: he sang Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks and it was great don’t get me wrong! He’s one of my favorites person wise this season, but it wasn’t as strong vocally as the other 2 contestants so I guess it makes sense why he left. If there were 3 people in the finals, he would 1000% be there, but that wasn’t the case unfortunately. The song wasn’t his best even though he did do amazing especially for someone who spoiler isn’t a pro singer but does sing like one. I get why he chose this song, but it wasn’t his best song choice wise and I feel his voice kind of lends itself to the boy band type of music.

Having said that, he was revealed to be my mans (I just love this guy)…

Queer Eye’s Interior Designer Extraordinaire Bobby Berk

Yeah, I know I’m playing favorites, but I am a HUGE Queer Eye fan, I adore them so much like this is my types of celebs being revealed, and it has been my favorite reveal thus far this season. First of all, it was funny that Jenny thought he was Jake Gyllenhaal, he didn’t understand her logic neither did I… like huh?! You know, Bobby Berk can say that for the first time in his life he’s being compared to Jake Gyllenhaal to the point she was so confident that she pressed the Take it Off Buzzer and honestly she looked like a 🤡 because you can tell by the way he sings/acts/talks/everything bro that he was not Jake Gyllenhaal of all people?! But anyways, this brings our total to 11.5/12!

Now going onto the finalists of Group B:

1. Banana Split is Katherine McPhee and David Foster

Performance: She sang Poker Face by Lady Gaga and he played the drums this time as well as the piano which was awesome! It’s insane how they kind of make an entire show within their performances and not just singing, they can dance, play instruments, and even compose when some of the background is playing instruments themselves. It felt like a true show you will probably see on Broadway, it was super cool and fun to watch. She of course is an amazing and natural performer both in choreography and singing wise and he’s an insane composer and can play a killer piano/drums. It is super cool to watch and I have a feeling that they will be in the finale.

2. Queen of Hearts 🫀

Performance: So, she sang She’s Got You by Patsy Cline and her voice is incredible. Like wow, it makes sense again I say why she is in the Group B finals. I feel like I am repeating myself with that statement, but this season has been pretty fair in terms of who goes and who stays (except for like 2 times off the top of my head). She really knows how to pick like amazing songs that suit her voice. I can’t wait to see what she does next.

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episode 8: Group A Semifinals, 2 stay and 2 go (Commentary & Guesses)

Hello everybody and welcome to Ana's Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of this show called The Masked Singer. This week we heard the top 4 Group A contestants perform and we had a double elimination so only 2 people went through to the finals.

Our Group A semifinalists were: Skunk 🦨, Bull 🐂, Pepper 🌶, and Jester 🃏.

Let's start off with the double elimination…

The 1st eliminated contestant was:

*Drumroll Please*

Jester 🃏

Performance: he sang I'm a man of constant sorrow and let's just say I'm not surprised one bit that he got eliminated and didn't get into the finals. He was my least favorite performance of the night and the weakest vocal of the entire group. This performance I really disliked more than the first one, because it was just not as good for his voice as his 1st performance coming out as a wildcard was.

He was revealed to be as I suspected:

John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten)

Well, yeah, I expected it honestly. Yay, another one I got correct! That is 8.5/9 correct thus far, which is a personal best for me, I'm really happy about this. A lot of people thought it was Jack Black and I really wanted it to be, because I've wanted him on the show for forever, but there's always next season.

Anyways, having said all of that, the 2nd eliminated contestant was...

*DRUMROLL PLEASE*

Pepper 🌶

Performance: she sang sign of the times by Harry Styles and honestly I feel like it was her weakest performance. Like I saw who got eliminated before I was able to sit down and watch the show since I wasn't able to watch on Wednesday so I was like huh why did she go home, I really liked her?! Then, I saw the performances and did a little compare and contrast action and was like yeah makes total sense, not super surprising. Honestly, this season is full of really good people but the best ones are like fantastic at picking songs which is why they go through, I honestly feel like Bull and skunk were better in that realm because they chose songs that really went with their voices, and not just to tell a specific story like Pepper did (which I totally respect and applaud but sometimes it fell flat)

Anyways, having said that, she was revealed to be as I guessed too many times to count hehe…

Natasha Bedingfield (Ms I got a pocket full of sunshine/unwritten herself)

Was this planned?! Because the 2 Brits who were on the show went home the exact same episode like what are the odds of that?! Anyways, yeah I love her so I was really excited to see her under that mask, she is one of those childhood artists for me, like Jesse McCartney (who is now married like what), Jojo, Jordin Sparks, etc. Also, I'm super happy I got her right, woohoo 2 for 2! 9.5/10 correct so far this season! A personal best for me, this is exciting! Anyways, yup sad to see her go, but really happy to see her face. Oh yeah and Ken pressed the take it off buzzer on her and got her wrong, thinking it's Sara Bareilles, but Nicole did get her right with her 1st impression guess, so she's tied with Ken 1 point each for the Golden Ear trophy.

Anyways, let's talk about our 2 Group A finalists shall we?

1. Skunk 🦨 is Faith Evans I’m sure of it

Performance: she sang At Last by Etta James and wow this one of her strongest performances ever so it completely makes sense why she went through over Pepper. It was as I mentioned before the perfect song for her vocal range and she hit the notes amazingly like it was amazing! Not my favorite performance (yes, Bull did top it) but it was finale worthy for sure (of the group let’s not get too ahead of ourselves there)

Reasoning: I mean idk what else to do to convince you guys, but here I'll put all the clues from my past blogs that got me so sure it's Faith:

Pride got her from saying hi to a loved one and it was the last time she ever saw them= she was talking about her then husband Notorious BIG (Biggie) who passed away in 1997

Time machine clue: pager with 607 code= that means I Miss You, referring to her song about Biggie that she sang with P Diddy, I’ll Be Missing You

Blew a kiss to Pufferfish= collaborated with Puff Daddy in 1998 on the song I’ll Be Missing You which won her first Grammy as a tribute to her late husband The Notorious BIG

Had to cut people off that were closest to her= admitted it in her best selling memoir Keep the Faith

Party Favor was a boom box= her prime as a singer was in the 90s where boom boxes were the main way to listen to music before the Walkman and iPod

Got a full ride scholarship and had to leave due to unexpected circumstances= Faith left Fordham University to have a baby

Forced to take a different path= ended up singing backup in LA and moving there which in turn got her recognized by P Diddy

The vase with a D on it= she was on R&B Divas

She was on a train to Seoul, South Korea= Soul Train! = she was honored with a lifetime achievement award in 2018 by Soul Train

Duality/yin and yang of the Skunk= she has a song that references Ying Yang in the lyrics called Goin’ Out

Her connection to Elvis= she devoted a song to her late husband Biggie called “The King & I” and Elvis is the king of rock and roll

2. The Bull 🐂 is 1000% Todrick Hall

Performance: he sang Rain on Me by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande and this was such a Todrick performance! If you know him at all, you would agree with me, like what I said about his performance of Britney Spears’s Circus, because he does all that stuff, the split, the kicking, all of it. However, I feel like on this show, he sounds 10x better than normal. Dude he hit a whistle tone and I was like omg wow I have never heard Todrick do a whistle town (granted, I only hear him on the YouTubes and not really on Broadway so maybe he does that frequently idk) and he freaking nailed it! The fact he was nervous blows my mind, he was my favorite hands down (but are you really surprised by that?! I feel like I say that every single Group A episode, y’all understand)

Reasoning: it's to the point that the voice modulation doesn’t work for me and I’m like yeah dude that’s Todrick… like I feel the judges should at least guess someone gay and/or black because he’s exposing himself at this point… anyway allow me to convince you with all these clues:

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episode 7: Group B Thanksgiving Episode ft. the last wildcard of the season (Commentary & Guesses)

Hello my fellow Internet peeps! Welcome to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. Last week we had a bit of a break because of the World Series but we are finally back and so is Group B! So, yeah, let’s get started because this episode was a wild ride…

This time around we had the following perform: Banana Split 🍌🍦, Caterpillar 🐛, Queen of Hearts 🫀, Mallard 🦆, and Beach Ball 🏖.

So, this episode, our eliminated contestant was…

*DRUMROLL PLEASE*

Beach Ball 🏖

Performance: This result I expected, if they weren't eliminated, it would be a crime against music. Like, damn, they were bad… sorry lemme be nicer… they were um… let’s just say they are absolutely not professional singers whatsoever, and their talent lays elsewhere (yeah, let’s go with that, does that sound nice?). I legit was trying to watch their performance to refresh my memory and write this correctly and I couldn’t even sit through the whole thing. They sang Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus, which song choice kinda gave away her age there (or at least one of their ages… oh wait I didn’t even mention, it’s a duo!). Yup there’s 2 voices under there and I was sure was young for sure.

Anyways, having said that, they were revealed to be…

Honey Boo Boo and Mama June

It wasn’t the performance nor the clues that made me guess them, it was their accents under that voice modulation, and I was like wait a minute… that’s Honey Boo Boo and her mama, I know their talking voices pretty well but never heard them sing a day in my life. So, yeah, I’m glad that mom and daughter are together again and mom is sober 2 years 👏, but they gotta go sorry ladies.

Anyways, onto the remaining contestants and their performances (this time around I don’t wanna be repetitive so I’m just gonna tell you who I think it is and what I think of their performances, boom, no explanation/clues because the clues take forever and I’m trying to make this snappy):

1. Caterpillar is Bobby Berk from Queer Eye

Performance: He sang It’s Gonna Be Me by *NSYNC and it was really great wow the guy has vocal chops, idk Bobby can sing like that I’m really impressed. I learned he used to be in a Christian rock group, so you know my mans if home renovating/interior designing doesn’t work out, you got chops, com dour with a boy band rock album. I would buy it in a heartbeat! Anyways, I wanted to touch on Jenny almost pressing the Take it off Buzzer for him and thinking it’s a member of *NSYNC, JC Chasez singing a song by *NSYNC like come on girl. Everybody hated that guess, even Ken, but I kind of wanted to know what would have happened if she did press it and got it wrong… would the person still stay? Thank God she didn’t though because I really didn’t want him to go home.

2. Banana Split is David Foster and Katherine McPhee I’m so sure

Performance: So, the picture above is them with like the cool looking piano 50s car thing, which shoutout to the design team on Masked Singer because wow that thing is beautiful I couldn’t stop staring at it. Anyways, they sang Let er Rip by The Chicks and the vibe was very 50s/60s. Even though vocally it wasn’t their best performance, it was their most fun and it was explosive/memorable. She really showed up and out with the choreography and I absolutely loved it. Probably my favorite performance of the night!

3. Queen of Hearts is Ms. Jewel!

Performance: She sang River by Bishop Briggs and that’s a big song and she delivered in a huge way! She’s got an amazing voice, like she doesn’t have to do too much choreography wise and she kills it every time. I really think it is between her and Banana Split at the Group B Finals. I really think she’s Jewel, like the voice matching is spot on, I’m really excited to see what she does next.

4. Mallard is Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson

Performance: he sang Play Something Country by Brooks and Dunn, and again much better suited for his voice but he did kind of choke up on his words in a few places. Honestly, I’m not a big Duck Dynasty fan nor a redneck country girl… like I ain’t from Texas, Louisiana, or any of those places where country like that is the thing. It’s just not my type of music, some country I do like but the type he sings isn’t my jam. I’m more of a soul, pop, R&B, Latin pop, Broadway music kinda girl. So, he was for me my least favorite besides Beach Ball (nobody can beat Beach Ball for the worst spot).

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episode 6 Recap: Going Back in Time with Group A and their last wildcard (Commentary & Guesses)

Hello everybody and welcome to Ana's Masked Singer recap, where I recap every single episode of The Masked Singer! This week's episode features Group A again (which at this point is mostly wildcards and 2 OG Group A members) with their last wildcard introduced. The episode's theme is all about throwbacks and the time warp with the clues matching the theme. The on-stage clue is all about traveling back in time, using an item from a “time machine.”

The contestants who performed this episode are Bull 🐂, Skunk 🦨, Pepper 🌶, Hamster 🐹, and Jester 🃏.

Let's begin with our eliminated contestant who was...

*DRUMROLL PLEASE*

Hamster 🐹

Performance: he sang Sabor a Mi by Luis Miguel because his wife is Latina and he made this whole thing about how his wife met all these celebs at an afterparty for a Luis Miguel concert and the only one she was starstruck by is Luis Miguel so he wanted to channel that for her. I think that’s super impressive him not speaking Spanish well (or at least that’s what he says) and attempting to sing a Spanish song. He did a pretty good job ngl, it was ballsy, it unfortunately didn’t pay off nor was it the strongest performance (because he does have stiff competition in his defense) but he did it and it was great, he should be proud!

He was revealed to be (as I guessed)...

Rob Schneider

I knew it ahhhh! I’m so happy I figured it out, 6.5/7 correct thus far!! Woohoo! Anyways, here are the clues you might have missed if you didn’t know it was the “You Can Do It” guy:

Latin Wife= yup, he’s married to a Mexican TV producer, Patricia Azarcoya since 2011

Saturday circled with party written on it= he was on SNL which is how he started his comedy career

Time machine clue: old school TV 📺= again he was on Saturday Night Live on cable TV (NBC to be exact)

Now onto our remaining contestants:

1. Skunk 🦨

Performance: She sang Square Biz by Teena Marie and it was the most upbeat performance she has done so far, it made me want to get up and dance. I was jamming in my seat to her performance, it was really strong! It’s an amazing song choice when it comes to something upbeat that goes amazingly with her voice and shows it off. I really enjoyed it a lot!

Ok, so my guess, it’s getting repetitive but I am sticking with it:

Faith Evans!

I feel pretty good about this guess, seeing how she sings and just her life as it relates to the clue packages. Speaking of them, this new set of clues completely convinced me:

Pride got her from saying hi to a loved one and it was the last time she ever saw them= she was talking about her then husband Notorious BIG (Biggie) who passed away in 1997

Time machine clue: pager with 607 code= that means I Miss You, referring to her song about Biggie that she sang with P Diddy, I’ll Be Missing You

2. Bull 🐂

Performance: he sang Make You Feel My Love by Bob Dylan and man his vocals on this show are on point, he’s my absolute favorite of the group! He’s got such a beautiful voice, and has shown everything it can do in the competition, from upbeat to this one which was just stripped down, only him and his voice. Not many voices can stand alone like that and you feel the emotion through the mask, but his does it! It’s so good! Legit he will be making the finals I am so sure of it!

Ok, guess wise, again repetitive but the clues ain’t so for the new peeps, I think this is

Todrick Hall

At this point, I can legit hear his voice speaking through the modulation, that’s how sure I am, nobody can change my mind. I am locking it in until forever and ever. Someone on Twitter was like no that’s Vincent, and I didn’t budge, it’s 10000000000% Todrick. The clues might convince you guys too (hopefully):

Performance: she sang No Tears Left to Cry by Ariana Grande, which was an um interesting choice for her voice. There were parts where she didn’t sing it because she either forgot the lyrics or she was out of breath. She also seemed like she was trying to do high notes by force into the song where it didn’t fit honestly. I preferred her first performance of Jealous more than this one, not the best song choice here!

Having said that, I am still going to stick with my guess as

Natasha Bedingfield

Ok, I’m still sticking with Ms. Bedingfield herself because of that voice, it sounds so much like her and I would know since I grew up on Unwritten and Pocketful of Sunshine. You can’t fool me, but here are the clues to convince you even more:

When she got big at first, she was pulled in a million different directions, from red carpets to interviews to award shows= she got big early 2000s (like 2004-2007) with her first 2 albums and that pulled her in many different directions for sure

Greek and Roman mythology statues= she has a lot of those references in her song Unwritten

Celebrity Bestie is Courtney Cox aka Monica from Friends= she did a video with Courtney and her daughter where Natasha sang and Courtney played the piano with her daughter

Time travel clue: iPod= well she got big in the early 2000s and that’s when her biggest hits came out (2004 and 2007) so a lot of people heard them in iPods

4. Introducing the last Group A wildcard: Jester 🃏

Performance: ok, so he sang School’s Out by Alice Cooper and it was my least favorite performance of the night. I feel like he should have gone home over Hamster tbh. I’m not a fan of his voice, it’s not my cup of tea. Also, that costume is creepy af. The voice is just a lot, yeah no I hope he goes home next.

Alright, idk who this is but of the guesses I’ve seen I am gonna go with…

John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten (formerly from the Sex Pistols)

Idk man, some people said it’s Jack Black, and honestly the clues don’t match up with Jack Black (even tho I would die for him on this show… please Jack Black do it pretty please), and he is someone else I see frequently which kinda matches the accent and the clue that he’s really hated but wants to show that he isn’t a bad guy kinda thing (everyone loves Jack Black so that makes no sense). Anyways here are the clues:

An icon who changed history= lead singer of Sex Pistols known for his outspoken personality and rebellious image, so yup

Been on 100 Most Influential People list= Sex Pistols as a band has been on Rolling Stone’s list landing on #58

Has offended heads of state= yup, he’s very politically, um how do I say this in a nice way?, outspoken… yup outspoken… so much so that there’s a whole section on his Wikipedia about all of his political and social criticism (most of which I don’t agree with by any means, but again this is not a political show so who cares what I think?), but he has been critical of the Pope, the British royalty/Parliament, and George W. Bush to name a few. One of the songs (God Save the Queen) even got banned from BBC and the UK for offending the royal family

Banned from venues= yup he was banned from gigging in Scotland and Dundee with the Sex Pistols

Time machine clue: Plaid Blazer from 1975= that’s the year he joined Sex Pistols.

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episode 5 Recap: Date Night with Group B + Their First Wildcard (Commentary & Guesses)

Hello everyone and welcome to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I recap every episode of The Masked Singer! So, this week, we had Group B come back for their first wildcard round and the theme of the episode is date night! So yeah, let’s get started:

The masked contestants who performed this episode were: Mallard 🦆, Cupcake 🧁, Banana Split 🍌🍦, Queen of Hearts 🫀, and the wildcard, Caterpillar 🐛. Now, let’s begin with our eliminated contestant who was…

The Cupcake 🧁

Performance: She sang Finesse by Bruno Mars and Cardi B, and it wasn’t the best for her type of voice. I preferred her first performance over this one, it kind of reminded me of the mistake Tori Kelly made season 4 that got her kicked off. It did not show her range at all but with this song I was sure who it was because of how she spoke to the judges

Anyways, she was revealed to be (by no surprise of mine at all)…

*ANOTHER DRUMROLL PLEASE*

Ruth Pointer (of the Pointer Sisters)

Her first performance kind of confused me if it was a man or woman, but with the clues this time around I was positive it was Ruth of the Pointer Sisters (I know them from the song I’m so Excited):

Had many husbands= yup, was married 4 times

Needle and Thread= reference again to her surname Pointer

Speed dating clue: would connect the most with Nick because both have “double trouble”= both of them have kids who are twins (Nick has 2 sets of twins, while Ruth has 1 set)

Jane Fonda as her friend= they recently have had dinner together

Now onto the remaining Group B contestants still masked and my guesses for them:

1. Mallard 🦆

Performance: he sang My House by Flo Rida and it again didn’t suit his voice, was probably the weakest performance of the episode. His voice suits Country songs like the last one, and he tried to rap which doesn’t go with him just to throw the panel off. It didn’t throw me off I am still sure of who it is

I am certain (again sticking with this guess) that this is…

Willie Robertson (Duck Dynasty)

Yup, still sticking with it and the clues emphasize my point:

Met his wife in 4th grade= yup, when she was in 3rd and he was in 4th grade, in summer camp

Sweet tea, accent= he’s from Louisiana, was born there and is from there too

Speed Dating Clue: would pick Jenny because “we can sit on the coach and get on the same wavelength”= both Wahlburgers and Duck Dynasty are on the same channel, A&E

2. Queen of Hearts 🫀

Performance: her performance of Le Vie en Rose by Edith Pilaf was amazing especially for the fact that she doesn’t sing French, it sounds like she’s fluent in French songs. It was so much stronger than her last performance, but since I already saw it in the sneak peak episode I expected it, even though I was shocked when she said nope I never sing French. It was one of the strongest vocal performances of the episode.

Again, I am sticking with that this is…

Jewel

I am still so sure it’s her, nothing made me think anyone else. Here are the clues that made me lock it in:

She’s surprisingly shy= she has admitted that when she’s not on stage, she’s a very shy person

Unlucky in love= has been married once and divorced in 2014

Speed Dating Clue: pick Ken because they will have a “roasting hot first date”= Ken does a lot of roasts in Comedy Central and she has done too of Rob Lowe

3. Banana Split 🍌🍦

Performance: they performed Cry Me a River by Michael Buble, which was the version Banana (spoiler: David Foster) helped compose. He started the song with a suspenseful piano solo which really set the mood for the song, it was amazing on his part. She, on the other hand, has a stunning voice that can fill up a room. Her voice, in my opinion, on its own is the strongest one of everyone in this group! My favorites for sure!

I am super positive that they are husband and wife duo:

David Foster and Katherine McPhee

I’m still sticking with them, I have never been for sure when it comes to them and Todrick… here are the clues that prove my point:

Plate with the word Nothing on it= she sang I Have Nothing on American Idol which was one of his biggest producing hits

Smashing the heart= she was on the show Smash

Fantasy, Pain, Reality and then she says no reality, instead heart as the ingredients for love= Foster said no to being on a reality show nor turning their marriage into one

Speed Dating Clue: Split picking Nicole to date because they “have a ball together”= they attended the 2nd annual bliss ball together (both women) in 2013

4. Introducing our wildcard: Caterpillar 🐛

Performance: He sang If I Were a Boy by Beyoncé and it was really great! You could tell this one has a musical background because his voice is really amazing. He’s a natural on stage, I really enjoyed it a lot. At the end when he called out Ken, that was also really funny. This wildcard came out swinging! He’s gonna make it far I’m sure of it.

I’m not 100% sure about this but after hearing it a second time and going online to look up the clues, I think it might be..

Bobby Berk (from the new Queer Eye)

This sounds off the wall, but Bobby used to be in a Christian rock band as a kid so it isn’t super strange that he has a great voice. Here are the clues that convinced me:

Life all about metamorphosis= Queer Eye is all about transformation

Left home at a young age, was homeless, started stealing to make ends meet, parents told him he would be in jail and was right= when he came out as gay, his really religious parents kicked him out at age 15 leaving him homeless and he went to jail a few times because he was stealing

Taylor Swift knows him= he was featured in her You Need to Calm Down music video with the rest of the Fab Five

Great Lakes, basketball, stage of Michigan= Queer Eye group is called Fab Five which is also the name of the basketball team from University of Michigan

Speed Dating Clue: pick Robin because won’t “take his eyes off his printed patterns”= he’s a home designer and prints do catch their eyes… reference to what he does on Queer Eye and his home renovation line which features many prints

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episode 4 Recap: Group A (again) plus One Wildcard Crashes the Houseparty! (Commentary & Guesses)

Hello, hello, humans of the internet! Welcome to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every episode of The Masked Singer. I’m so sorry this is going up so late, legit this episode happened last week and here I am posting it after the next episode came out. It’s just been a super chaotic week for me with work and school, but also I was feeling a bit under the weather this weekend, so I couldn’t really do this when I usually do, but whatever I’m back and I promise (hopefully) I will try to get back to the swing of things aka posting these the Fri, Sat, or Sun after the show and not the Wednesday of the next episode like damn. Anyways, I’m babbling, let’s get into this acid trip of an episode (that’s the only way I can explain it):

Alright, so in this episode, we had our remaining 4 Group A peeps perform (Baby 👶🏼, Hamster 🐹, Skunk 🦨, and Bull 🐂) plus a new wildcard Pepper 🌶. It was an interesting one so let’s get into it, starting with the eliminated contestant…

So, the person who left and was revealed this episode was…

Baby 👶🏼

Performance Commentary: This performance is one I will never forget, I can say that with utmost confidence. It made me question a tiny bit why I watch this show and do these recaps in like a " wow this is a weird show" kind of way. He sang the Flinstones theme song, yup and that wasn't even the weirdest part. The weird part was that it was actually pretty good, like who would've known?! He has a pretty great singing voice for someone who doesn't sing professionally. He sang it like operatically which made it weirder wow.

Having said that, he was revealed to be (as I guessed)...

Larry the Cable Guy

I knew it!! Side note: his head is so small compared to the baby’s limbs and costume when he was on masked omg. Anyways, this is 4.5/5 correct this season (the half was Mother Nature) for me. Anyways, here are the clues (he’s said to be the most recognizable voice of our generation and I completely recognized that voice in the first performance):

Baby Book with Tooth= he was in Tooth Fairy 2

Road clue= reference to his role in Disney’s Cars (there were many references of cars, roads, etc)

Party Favor was a cooler and a grill (still the life of the tailgate even with a little grease on the grill)= the grease again is a reference to Cars where he played Tow Mater and the grill is because he had a Holiday Grilling Set and a Tailgate portable disposable grill

Micheal Straham as his friend= Larry was on The Chew with him and Straham interviewed him too

Now onto our remaining contestants including the newest wildcard:

1. Hamster 🐹

Performance: he sang Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen with the same Elvis impression he did in his first performance. If you have heard him sing with his daughter Elle King (who’s a famous singer in her own right), he does this singing impression all the time, because he is a huge Elvis fan (sorry I’m spoiling who I think it is… but I already said it in the last performance of his). I feel like he could be next to go, because he was the weakest performance of Group A. I liked it, but not wowed by it.

Having said that, I’m sticking with I think this hamster is (locking this answer in)…

Rob Schneider

Clues:

In his 20s living in a huge city working with his pals= hired in SNL (NY) as a writer then graduated to full cast member, working with Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Chris Farley, and David Spade (they still work together over the years)… also reference to the movie Grown Ups

Bassett Hound (“I’m a party animal”)= reference to the movie The Animal he was in, where his character is donated the organs of various animals including a Bassett Hound

Not being famous and then being famous= SNL made him famous

Party Favor was a beer helmet with 2 water bottles in it (“I like to stay hydrated”)= he was in The Waterboy and wore a beer helmet in that movie

2. Skunk 🦨

Performance: She sang Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Knight & The Pips, and I really loved it, I feel like it was her best performance yet! She showed so much emotion in this song and you can hear it through the mask, because she lived what the song it says. She really added some runs and made the song her own, which was my favorite part of this performance. Super strong!

I’m sticking with the Skunk being…

Faith Evans

Clues:

Blew a kiss to Pufferfish= collaborated with Puff Daddy in 1998 on the song I’ll Be Missing You which won her first Grammy as a tribute to her late husband The Notorious BIG

Had to cut people off that were closest to her= admitted it in her best selling memoir Keep the Faith

Party Favor was a boom box= her prime as a singer was in the 90s where boom boxes were the main way to listen to music before the Walkman and iPod

3. Bull 🐂

Performance: He sang Circus by Britney Spears, and this is the most Todrick performance ever, from how he walks to his dance moves to saying “Free Britney” in the middle of the song. He even did a split! Like wow this performance was amazing but it kind of exposed that who I think it is is the correct answer.

I’m locking this in, I am so sure that the Bull is…

Todrick Hall

Clues:

Scrubs= he has a song called Mask, Gloves, Soap, Scrubs where he parodied his own song at the start of the pandemic

Carnegie Hall= his last name is Hall (also why the Disney concert hall was shown last time, many halls to represent his surname)

No stranger to a house party (notorious for rave music and everybody dancing)= in 2019, he released a trilogy of EPs called Haus Party

4. Our new wildcard: Pepper 🌶

Performance: She sang Jealous by Labyrinth and it was such a beautiful performance! Her voice is immensely strong (I’ve never heard her sing like this, and it’s amazing) and you can feel the emotion she is singing through the mask, it was fantastic. I knew she was gonna make it far as soon as she opened her mouth to sing the first note, amazing voice wow! This one did wow me.

This is just a hunch I have because of her singing voice and the fact that she did go viral on Tik Tok for one of her older songs… I’m not 100% on this but I feel confident from this first performance it could be her, here are the clues that convinced me:

Slight accent in the start of the clue package= she is English (idk that honestly, I had to Google it)

Something she did went viral & Xs and Os (Tic Tak Toe)= she has a Tik Tok account where she posts regularly, but a Tik Tok dance for her older song Unwritten became viral, and the song is a hit sound on the app.

Her party favor was roller skates (“because you don’t need a driver’s license”)= she has a song called Roller Skate so it could be a reference to that

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episode 3: Time to meet Group B! (Commentary & Guesses)

Hello fellow humans! Welcome (or welcome back) to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I recap and talk about this show called The Masked Singer if you wanna stick around for that. So, this time around, we get to meet the other group, Group B, who we might not see again for 2 weeks, since we are going to see group A perform again this upcoming week with a new wildcard, Pepper. Anyways, let’s get started with the recap:

Group B was introduced and they consisted of Dalmatian 🐶, Queen of Hearts 🫀, Mallard 🦆, Cupcake 🧁, and Banana Split 🍌🍦. They performed, and one was eliminated unfortunately, let’s start with that…

So the contestant that was eliminated/revealed first in Group B was:

Dalmatian 🐶

Performance Commentary: ok, so I wasn’t super surprised by this elimination honestly, I expected it since he was the weakest vocally of this group. He sang Beautiful by Snoop Dogg ft Pharrell Williams and I gotta give him props for actually singing when most rappers just decide to only rap and not sing at all on this show. However, he did sound a bit like they put way too much of that auto tune stuff on his voice so it sounded like a robot him singing, which kinda made him the weakest link. However, his rapping was awesome (duh because that’s what he does professionally… and btw not spoiling who he is with that comment because when you hear the performance, you’ll know 100% it’s a rapper)

And he was revealed to be…

*DRUMROLL PLEASE*

Tyga

Omg I knew it!! Thank you Twitter for helping me out, y’all are the best. I thought at first it might have been Chance the Rapper but then people started saying Tyga and I was like hmmm lemme see the clues, yup makes sense, well great segue (segway) Ana because imma show you some of the clues you might have missed:

Scream Poster= he was in the Scream series

Cat Doll= play on words because his name is Tyga (like Tiger… man these producers are really into puns, it’s kinda clever tho)

Was discovered by a big player= in 2007, he started doing mixtapes and he was discovered by Travie McCoy who offered him a record deal

Now, that we have that out of the way, let’s get into our remaining contestants (big warning: this group has left me all types of confused when it comes to guesses so I apologize if my arguments aren’t perfect with some of these):

1. Cupcake 🧁

Performance: This performance is so confusing to me. Idk if this is a man or woman, sometimes I think woman with deep voice and other times I am like no that’s a man. So I don’t know about this one, it’s a very good performance of Heat Wave by Martha and the Vandellas but I need to hear more because I am confused. I am in between a specific man or a specific woman but I am not sure so unfortunately for this one I don’t have a guess

Sorry y’all no guess for this one :(… hopefully, next time they perform I will have a better idea*

*(I will say the guess I am leaning towards that a few people have said *just in case the cupcake leaves next* is Ruth Pointer from the Pointer Sisters because there were supposed to be multiple cupcakes and not just one, and in the PKG, cupcake said they were used to being in a group)

2. Banana Split 🍌🍦

Performance: They were 1000% my favorite performance of the night even though only Split/Ice Cream sang A Million Dreams from the Greatest Showman. She is amazing, I absolutely love her, she has that iconic Broadway sound that I absolutely adore. Just her singing this makes me so confident on who she is omg I’m stoked!

Having said that, I am so positive, like way too certain none of y’all will convince me otherwise like Todrick level confidence they are…

Katherine McPhee and David Foster

Ok, so you guys are probably like “Ana, how can you be so sure if the damn banana didn’t even sing a note, he just played the piano?!” Well, my friends, you have a point, but I know who she is and honestly I don’t even care if I am wrong ab him (I won’t know for sure until he sings a note) but HER I am absolutely positive….and they are a married couple and the banana has heart eyes so in my head it makes sense with the clues too, but before I go to the clues, I have a funny story on how I know who Ms. Katherine McPhee is… so like I was watching this performance and was like omg her voice Sound so familiar! Where have I heard her before?! This is driving me nuts… And then I saw people on YouTube saying that it’s them and I was like wait Katherine McPhee that name sounds so familiar. Then I looked her up and I found out that I knew who she was because I randomly watched a show on Netflix called Country Comfort (which side note: LeAnn Rimes or the Sun from Season 4 guest starred on that show and LeAnn’s husband stars in it… so connection there?), which to explain the show briefly it’s literally the Nanny but with country music and in Tennessee instead of NY. Anyways, she sang a lot on that show and it clicked, I was like BINGO OMG THAT IS HER IT CANNOT BE ANYONE ELSE (similar to how I felt about Todrick being the bull when I saw that damn sneak peak performance). Anyway ya, that was unnecessarily long, now onto the clues:

She left school to move to the city= she attended Boston Conservatory for 3 semesters and left to move to LA to try out for TV pilots

Thought she got her big break, but it wasn’t it= she got an MTV soap opera plot but it never made it to air

Collaborator who sticks with me through sweet and sour= they have known each other ever since she was on the 5th season of American Idol in 2006 and their collaboration is that he is a music producer and she sings (on American Idol, he would play the piano while she sang… does this sound familiar to you guys yet? Ringing any bells? If not, rewatch the performance Banana Split did)

3. Queen of Hearts 🫀

Performance: She sang Born This Way by Lady Gaga and I already knew she was going to be good, but this was like Black Swan all over again. This beginning song wasn’t the best for her voice, but she had fun and she did the damn thing. Closest Lady Gaga singing impression I’ve seen, but I am positive it ain’t Lady Gaga. Also, she slayed that ending.

Ok, so I am not too sure about this guess but after a bit of research and voice matching, I think it might be…

Jewel (the singer, not an actual jewel)

Again I say, with a bit of research, I feel like she’s the closest guess I can give you guys especially matching the singing voices, but let’s look at the clues:

Grew up in a house that lacked warmth= she grew up in Alaska (born in Utah)

Tin man from Wizard of Oz= she played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz in Concert: Dreams Come True in 1995

Hilary Swank photo= Swank has a dog named Jewel (when I read this I laughed, wow Masked Singer really?! 😂😂)

4. Mallard 🦆

Performance: This performance was not my cup of tea tbh, it was real deep country which is not my jam at all. The song title says it all: Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) by Big & Rich. Like it was great no lie, but like I just don’t really enjoy that kinda music so it wasn’t for me.

Again, this one is a shot in the dark guess but I am gonna stick with it and it is the one I am leaning towards voice wise:

Willie Robinson (yes the guy from Duck Dynasty)

Ok, so again hear me out, this might sound stupid (and half of me thinks it is) but it kinda makes sense in a strange way especially looking at the clues:

Surrounded by dollar bills= Duck Dynasty merch raised a ton of bills

Photo of Chris Pratt= they worked together and became friends filming Jurassic World in 2014

Platinum Album= Has a certified platinum album “Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas” (I can’t believe this one, I was pretty surprised)

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episode 2 Recap: Group A Wildcards, Back to School Themed, Let’s Meet New Students Baby and Hamster (Commentary & Guesses)

Hello my internet friends and welcome (or welcome back) to Ana's Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. So, this is technically the 2nd part of the premiere episodes’ recaps, since both of these episodes aired on the same week, back to back. So yeah, let's get started, shall we:

Ok so same ones as last time performed (minus the 2 who got eliminated), which were Pufferfish 🐡, Skunk🦨, and Bull 🐂, plus 2 new wildcards, Baby 👶🏼 & Hamster 🐹 and 1 of them was revealed who was...

*DRUMROLL PLEASE*

Ms. Pufferfish 🐡

Performance: So, she stuck with the Tik Tok song theme, and performed Levitating by Dua Lipa and DaBaby (yup, she did rap again), which felt like a repeat of her 1st performance. I feel like she is WAY BETTER than singing these overly played Tik Tok songs and that's why she went home honestly, and I know the internet is up in arms about her leaving this soon, & I get it but I honestly wished she would've chosen a way better song that really showcases her range, like Bull does. Even though he picks songs that a lot of people know, they make sense & actually compliment his voice/showcases so many things he can do vocally, while the songs she chose were too one note for me.

Having said that, she was revealed to be by no one's surprise at all (well maybe the judges but they're always slow):

Toni Braxton (in a mask)

First of all, yeah not surprised... Moving on, she was wearing a mask under the costume's mask wow (because she has lupus so that means her immune system aka the system that tries to keep you from getting sick is weakened because it thinks everything even healthy cells that are part of your normal bodily functions are dangerous so they destroy them... Long story short, covid& lupus are not a good combo so she wears a mask as added protection). The thing about masks when you are singing (which is why most singers take off their masks when they sing), it makes your voice muffled and not as clear sounding no matter what mic you use. So yeah her voice might have sounded a tiny bit muffled but it was great considering. Was it the biggest upset in masked singer history? No, Tori Kelly getting eliminated in season 4 was, but this might be a close 3rd (2nd is a tie between Jesse McCartney not winning season 3 & Jojo not winning season 5). Anyways, let's talk clues:

Now, onto our remaining 4, starting with our OGs and ending with our 1st wildcards of the season:

1. Bull 🐂

Performance: This time around, he sang What Hurts The Most by Rascal Flatts and god damn the man got range, he started the song with a whistle tone run thing idk what’s called but it was punchy and amazing! He used a song a lot of people are super familiar and showcased a ton of rasp and range to his voice, from high to low notes he hit. I’m obsessed with this performance, it was probably my favorite of the night!

For my guess, I am still sticking with (and will fight anyone who disagrees, that’s how sure I am, my mind isn’t changing here):

Todrick Hall, ladies and gents and non-binary folks

Ok, I’ve known about Todrick for years, so much so that I didn’t even need someone to explain to me the clues (usually I do some research on the celebs, because I am not a celeb expert by any means, but he is the one I have done the least research on), like I figured some of them on my own which very rarely happens (if I see another ex Disney or Nick star, it will happen again possibly). Having said that, let’s look at them sweet (almost sweeter than the donut he is holding in that picture) clues that seal the deal for me (which as you can probably tell from the title are back to school themed):

Marched to the beat of his own drum in high school= he was openly gay in high school which was probably a bit rare in Texas

Disney concert hall= 2 things: before Idol, Todrick actually worked as a cast member at Disney World in Hollywood Studios and one of his most viral videos on his YouTube channel (and one of the ways I discovered him online) was called Evolution of Disney, which currently has 13 million views.

Cheerleaders in his locker clue= he actually really was a cheerleader in high school

2. Skunk 🦨

Performance: Ok, so I take back everything I said in my last recap here, because her performance of It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World by James Brown was a total 180 from her last performance! Like this was the kind of performance I was expecting from her, and she delivered in all her soulful, diva goodness! She sang this song to filth, it was the perfect song for her voice because it showcased her range and you can tell she was connected to the song, showcasing emotion from under the mask. It was fantastic and I really hope she sticks to these kinds of songs honestly because she is so good, like I hope they don’t make her sing super current pop songs, because she isn’t pop… anything rock, soul, R&B, or even funk works amazing with her tone. You can tell this isn’t her first rodeo performing so having said all that…

I am going to also stick with my initial guess for Skunk, who is:

Faith Evans

Alright yeah, I’m sticking with it, the voice is so similar (I used this video to voice match) but let’s get started with the clues:

Got a full ride scholarship and had to leave due to unexpected circumstances= yup, Faith left Fordham University to have a baby

Forced to take a different path= ended up singing backup in LA and moving there which in turn got her recognized by P Diddy

The vase with a D on it= she was on R&B Divas

3. Hamster 🐹

Performance: Yay a new wildcard! His first performance was Oh, Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison and you can tell he’s a great singer but he’s putting on an impression (a very good one may I add) but is a comedian like he isn’t a professional singer, he’s a comedian or actor who can sing granted but is trying to do impressions to throw the judges for a loop… but I see through you Mr. Hamster…. NOW I see through you, even though at first you did confuse me as well. He was ok though, nothing insane or shocking, I predict he might go home next in this group (depending on what the new wildcards sound like and/or when the next wildcards will be integrated)

I'm gonna say I think Hamster is...

Rob Schneider (better known as Elle King’s dad)

Alright, so again I had to do some voice matching because I have heard of him (mostly as Elle King’s dad haha) but never really heard him sing… if you watch him singing with his daughter, I can hear the tone and he might be putting on an Elvis style impression (which I have heard from a lot of people on the internet that he does those kinds of impressions in his stand up because he is a huge Elvis fan), but let’s look at them clues:

Famous Friends= he was on SNL and has multiple famous comedian friends like Adam Sandler & Chris Rock

Alcatraz Island= he’s from San Francisco, Cali

Locker clue is a baseball bat= hinting at a movie he was in, Benchwarmers

4. Baby 👶🏼

Performance: Ok, so I had to leave the most shocking one one for last, because this one threw me for a loop. At first, he was doing the baby voice and I was like this guy sucks he’s a goner…. and then he Barry Whited me with You’re the First, the Last, My Everything, and my jaw dropped (yes I did use Barry White as a verb, I’m so sorry Barry White, you are amazing, may he Rest In Peace, like no disrespect but it is his song so I tried to do something funny there… might have not worked out how it did in my brain, but I am too far gone now). Like I didn’t expect that voice coming out of that giant creepy thing you see pictured above this unnecessarily long commentary. Even my mom was shocked, and she don’t get shocked a lot…. Anyways, onto my guess:

This might sound like a dumb troll guess, but I genuinely think Baby is...

Larry the Cable Guy

Ok, ok, ok before y’all gang up on me and tell me “Ana, that’s such a Ken guess!,” I am gonna defend myself and say 1. Well Ken is now in the lead for the Golden Ear so anything can happen, and 2. Just hear me out, you’ll understand why when I explain myself. I feel like no other celebrity except Mr. “Get er Done” would put on a giant baby costume that’s borderline creepy, have an accent like that, and sound like Baby Mater from Cars (if you don’t believe it, just watch the performance, I’ll link it here and everything for you). Anyways, here are the clues that convince me and hopefully might convince you guys:

Replaced Arnold Schwarzenegger in a movie= Larry starred in the direct-to-video sequel to one of his comedic hits “Jingle All the Way.”

Locker clue was failing a driver’s ed test/reference to high speed car chases= reference to his success as the voice of Mater from the Disney movie Cars

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episode 1 Recap: Group A Premiere Baby!! (Commentary & Guesses)

Hello everybody and welcome or welcome back to Ana's Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. The time we have been waiting for is here, the season 6 premiere (ooh that rhymes)! If you don't know how these recaps work, pretty much I talk about the reveals first (major spoiler alert by the way ⚠️) and then get into the remaining contestants, what I thought about their performances, guesses to who I think it could be with the clues to back it up the best I can. Anyways, having said that, let's get started with the 1st recap of season 6 (which is covering the Wednesday episode, Thursday's will be covered separately):

In this episode, Group A performed which consisted of Bull 🐂, Skunk 🦨, Octopus 🐙, Pufferfish 🐡, and Mother Nature 🌬 and 2 of them were eliminated, but only one was revealed this episode, damn cliffhangers, and that mask was:

Octopus 🐙

Performance Commentary: I was honestly so sad to see him go this early in the season, because I really enjoyed his performance of Tutti Frutti by Little Richard. He probably wasn't the most technical singer but for (spoiler) a non singer he did pretty great! I would buy his album.

Having said that, he was revealed to be:

*FIRST DRUMROLL OF THE SEASON PLEASE*

🏀Dwight Howard 🏀

Ok I kinda figured it out even though I don't know anything about the sports world... But he is one of the few names I do know in the NBA (my dad's a huge sports guy and I might have seen a meme of him falling so that too). Anyways, can I for one second, point out how tall this guy is?! He makes Nick Cannon look tiny…and Nick is 6 feet! It was so funny… I also was surprised at how funny he was… but yeah Clues, here are some you might have missed or gotten idk:

Survived a hard core fall= yup like he legit fell and hurt himself, which really hurt his game & probably his career

Gold phone= won the 2019-2020 championship with the Lakers

Magic playing card= eight seasons he played for Orlando Magic

Also, I gotta note that Ken got it right and is in the lead for the Golden Ear and that shocked me more.

Next, this mask was also eliminated, but wasn't revealed until episode 2, so I'm just gonna talk about the performance and that was:

Mother Nature 🌬

Performance Commentary: I'm not going to say I didn't see this coming, because her performance of I'm Coming Out by Diana Ross was the weakest one vocally of the night. However I still enjoyed her as a performer/entertainer and that costume is unreal like wow it reminds me of Te Fiti from Moana (look it up if you don’t know what I am talking about)

Anyways, let's get into the remaining 3 and my guesses for them *

*I just want to preface that I knew I wasn't going to have time to do this recap in between the 2 episodes, so I wrote my guess for this one mask down before they were revealed

1. Skunk 🦨

Performance Commentary: The beginning was super cool and so well staged, kudos to the producers on that one, but I was pretty underwhelmed with her performance of Diamonds by Sam Smith. Like, that's a great song, but I don't feel it suits her voice & range of what she's capable of doing. All in all, it was ok, nothing wowing about it, even though I do think her voice is very strong.

As for my guess, I think Shunk is:

Faith Evans

Ok, so this was a guess I got thanks to Twitter, voice matched it, and I am sold honestly… idk who Faith was until now, she was married to Notorious B.I.G, but that’s all I know. Anyways, let’s dive into those clues, shall we:

She was on a train to Seoul, South Korea= Soul Train! = she was honored with a lifetime achievement award in 2018 by Soul Train

Duality/yin and yang of the Skunk= she has a song that references Ying Yang in the lyrics called Goin’ Out

Her connection to Elvis= she devoted a song to her late husband Biggie called “The King & I” and Elvis is the king of rock and roll

2. Pufferfish 🐡

Performance Commentary: She sang Say So by Doja Cat, which I mostly know the entire song due to Tik Tok, so I hope people also use her version because it’s super solid. When I was watching at first, I was thrown off by the rapping, but now watching it back, I embraced it. It wasn’t the best rapping ever but it was dope ngl seeing a woman like that also kill a rap. I really enjoyed tbh more than I did the first time when I thought her voice wasn’t really at its full potential.

My guess for the Pufferfish is:

Toni Braxton

After voice matching Pufferfish with Toni, the voice is uncanny! But you need some clues baby boos so here we go:

Voice stands out, she was different, tried to blend in= no like seriously, because everyone knew it was her because Toni has a super distinct voice no one else has

Disco ball= home girl performed on season 7 of Dancing with the Stars, get it disco ball, mirror ball like the trophy they win

Guitarra= she has a hit song called Spanish Guitar, and guitar in Spanish is you guessed it Guitarra

3. Bull 🐂

Performance Commentary: He sang Drops of Jupiter by Train, and wow HE GOT VOCALS FOR DAYSSS (what he ain’t is shy so stop lying my guy). He is absolutely my favorite of the night, his voice is absolute butter, raspy butter… yes I did just say that but you know what I mean (if you don’t, it’s those nice raspy voices that are so smooth like butter). You could tell he is used to performing and singing, because wow that performance was absolutely fantastic.

Even though he was amazing, he was also super easy to guess because from the first damn note (actually from the first damn sneak peak preview they gave us of him singing), I knew who this was:

Todrick Hall (finally those hours watching YouTube as a teen are paying off lol)

Before I even get to the clues, just so you guys know, I have been watching Todrick since like 2014 on YouTube and I know his voice and his mannerisms and how he performs and that Bull ticks all the boxes… I don’t even need clues but to show you my point in the form of evidence, lemme back myself up with these sweet, sweet clues (side note: I could even hear his voice through the modulation, which was crazy):

Grew up in a small town filled with cows= yes sir, he grew up in Plainview, Texas which is a small farming town with less than 25,000 people living there (and I am sure when he lived there it was smaller than that) and filled with cows which at first I thought was a metaphor but looking into it I find out Plainview has the largest beef processing plant in the country… hence cows lol

Heard no again and again and again= reference to how he was on American Idol and then lost the show

Didn’t give up, became his own boss= that American Idol loss got him to start YouTube hence being his own boss

Hollywood and Forbes took notice= he has appeared in the 30 under 30 successful people list by Forbes in 2014

Astronaut aka Hunter Hayes= he covered Invisible by Hunter Hayes on his YouTube channel (which is my absolute favorite Hunter Hayes song so you go Todrick… but that video was actually recently sent to private so you kinda can’t see it… also that was a bit sus)

The Masked Singer Season 6 Costume Reveals (Predictions and Rankings) Part 2!

Hello everyone! Welcome (or welcome back) to Ana’s Masked Singer, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer, including when they reveal our beloved costumes, which is what I am doing here! Actually, this is part 2 of this revealing costumes saga, so if you wanna see part 1, link is below ⬇️

So yeah, go see that post for the first 10 costumes that were revealed with my thoughts, some predictions/dream casting action, and how I rank them… and now let’s get started with the costumes and more of that action! (Preface= I still don’t know how many costumes are in total, so by the end of this post, I may have a better idea, I’m still not too sure).

* Also, in between this part and the last one, the sneak peak episode was revealed and we got to see the first clues so I will be putting them down for these costumes and updating them for the previous ones!

1. Skunk 🦨

Thoughts: I really like this costume, it is very reminiscent of flapper girls and I feel like someone older & a legendary celebrity is under that mask because it's so poised and elegant kind of like flower from season 2 or bee from season 1.

Predictions: Again, I am gonna predict that this is a legend in the music world, perhaps older & female, similar to Bee (Gladys Knight), Flower (Patti LaBelle), and Mouse (Dionne Warwick). So, for dream casting, I'm going to go between Liza Minelli, Tina Turner, or Diana Ross.

First Clue: Elvis Presley (maybe someone related to him or who knew him or sang one of his songs famously or is also from Memphis)

Ranking: 8/10

2. Caterpillar 🐛

Thoughts: It’s a super cute costume, reminds me a bit of the llama, if it were cuter tbh. The colors are super cute, very nostalgic to like toys from the 90s or early 2000s which I really like. It’s adorable, it has braces and everything, I really like it. Some people say there are 2 people under there, but I don’t think so.

Predictions: I think this might be a male actor, singer, or Broadway performer…. From the first clue provided, I am gonna dream cast a guess here and it would be Todrick Hall (this is not an official guess just a dream cast one… I haven’t heard it sing just yet)

3. Jester 🃏

Thoughts: This one is probably my least favorite costume of the bunch. I get what they were going with it, like a Joker from a deck of cards, but it is really weird and creepy looking. It also looks like the belly is just a pillow under there, it doesn’t look super thought out, similar to Raccoon from last season. I’m also not a big of fan of like horror movies so it just doesn’t speak to me honestly.

Predictions: I think this might be a male actor or based on the clue, my mind went to someone from the Bachelor. Also, half of me thinks it might be an action star like Danny Trejo last season. Dream cast I would say I would like to see Bruce Willis (since his daughter was on the first season), Arnold Schwarzenegger, or Danny DeVito.

First Clue: A bouquet of roses 🌹

Ranking: 2/10

4. Pepper 🌶

Thoughts: This one reminds me of the Jalapeño from Quien es la Mascara (which is the Mexican version of The Masked Singer) but it’s a female version of it instead, which I kinda like. It is a little haphazard because the head doesn’t go super well with the dress but maybe it’s because I cannot stop thinking about the Mexican male version. Nevertheless, it’s a cool costume, super spicy (ugh now I am doing the pun thing… I promise I’m done)

Predictions: Idk about this one since there weren’t any first clues for her… but I am gonna go off the cuff again and say maybe a YouTuber or another type of influencer, like dream cast wise a Liza Koshy, Maddie Ziegler, or Rosanna Pansino.

Ranking: 9/10

5. Pufferfish 🐡

Thoughts: Woah… I legit just saw this one in the most recent preview for the show. It looks really funny with the lips, like puffer fish, but the lips puff out, I see what you are doing there Masked Singer. I like it though, it is very cartoon like but I think that’s the look they were going for. The arms are a bit weird tho, I can’t tell tho because it spun around and for a split second we saw the costume (this was a screenshot I took of that split second lol).

Predictions: I think this one might be female, for some reason a younger person comes to mind, similar to like Jellyfish or Kitty from previous seasons, someone younger whether it be an influencer, athlete, or artist of some kind (actor or musician or dancer) idk…. they didn’t give us any clues about this costume, but from this photo with them taking a lot of photos of her makes me think influencer or model specifically so that’s where I am gonna go when dream casting. So, dream cast wise, I am gonna go between Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, or Kendall Jenner.

Ranking: 8/10

6. Mother Nature 🌬

Thoughts: Ooh, this one is super cool, they just revealed this one too after the preview. I like it a lot, it’s very realistic looking but also elegant at the same time. Even though the face is a tiny bit scary, the rest looks really cool and I like the idea of a Mother Nature costume.

Predictions: I am gonna go singer for this one, female is my guess. So, dream casting over here, I would like to see Alesia Cara, Jennifer Hudson, or maybe one of the girls from Little Mix/one of the former members of Fifth Harmony.

Ranking: 9/10

The Masked Singer Season 6 Costumes (Ranking & Opinions/Guesses)

Hello everyone! We are back baby! Welcome (or welcome back) to Ana's Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, talk about this not so little show called The Masked Singer, not sure if you have heard of it lol. IT’S SEASON 6 TIME EVERYONE, which means that when a new season is upon us, we gotta rate some costumes (hey, I do make the rules, and that’s a special tradition we do here in case you are new… if you are new, hi, welcome, have a seat, get a cookie, some dinner, whatever you would like, and relax we are about to go on a ride of sorts with costumes). Having said that, let’s get started!

Preface: The show will air September 22 and 23 as a two night premiere and costumes are being revealed little by little at the moment (When I am writing this, idk how many contestants there will be in total so this might be more than 1 part long)

Preface over… introducing the new costumes! *INITATE DRUMROLL PLEASE*

1. Banana Split 🍌🍨

Thoughts: It’s a cute idea ngl…. It kinda makes me sad that there was already a banana costume and an ice cream costume and they just kinda put it together, but it’s still an adorable idea. I love pair costumes on the show, so this is very cute, the cartoon nature of it is super fun.

Prediction: (I am gonna put a prediction on who I think it could be, like whether it’s an athlete, musician, a pair of siblings, a couple, etc.) I think they are a couple, probably married or played a married couple on TV… I am also gonna dream cast this for fun: my dream cast for Banana Split would be either Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard or Fran Drescher and Charles Shaughnessy (who played Fran and Max on The Nanny, who were love interests/a married couple on the show)

First Clue: 3 pair of 🎲 with the numbers adding to 6

Rating: 10/10

2. Hamster 🐹

Thoughts: it’s soooo fluffy and cute omg I love it… I really hope this is a good singer because I just love this costume, it is too cute to be sent home the first week (I’m looking at you Gremlin). Everything about this costume is so cool and whimsical, any child (and me) would go crazy for the hamster.

Prediction: My brain automatically goes to an athlete who can sing (hopefully) but from experience with the show, this seems like an athlete would be under this mask… but another part of me thinks it might be an actor, so I am torn between the 2: actor or athlete (hopefully who can sing ok)… probably male I predict. Dream cast actor wise would be Jack Black and athlete wise I have no idea because I know close to nothing about sports and I don’t wanna embarrass myself here with names

First Clue: A whistle

Rating: 10/10!

3. Cupcake 🧁

Thoughts: This is a costume I have been waiting for a while… I love I so much. It reminds me of the cupcake float from Victorious (if anyone knows that reference I applaud you) and I really love it honestly.

Prediction: An actress or/and singer (female), I low key want it to be like one of the actresses I grew up on like anyone who used to be on Nickelodeon or Disney Channel… so my dream cast would be between Liz Gillies (who played Jade on Victorious), Victoria Justice (Tori also on Victorious) or Sabrina Carpenter (from Girl Meets World on Disney Channel)

First Clue: 🧭 pointing North

Rating: 10/10!

4. Mallard (Duck) 🦆

Thoughts: Wow, this one is really dope and dapper looking, it kind of reminds me of Giraffe from season 4, I really like the look of it. Also, I heard from the preview that he can sing a mean country song, so I’m excited, I hope he’s good, fingers crossed.

Prediction: From what Robin Thicke said in the preview, perhaps a country singer or an actor who can sing country. My dream cast would probably be Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, or LeAnn Rimes’s husband (who was on that Netflix show about country music so I guess he can do a country song idk) Eddie Cibrian

First Clue: Red telephone ☎️

Rating: 10/10

5. Dalmatian 🐶

Thoughts: This one is also pretty cool, I really hope someone in sports isn’t under there because that would be way too predictable… it reminds me of last season’s Bulldog mask which ended up being Nick Cannon… but like cooler for some reason

Prediction: I’m gonna go off the cuff here (since those kind of responses work for this show lol) and I think it might be a rapper of some sort, similar to like Frog or Chameleon. My dream cast for this one would probably be Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg (lolll get it… probably not tho), or Chance the Rapper

First Clue: Eagles 🦅

Rating: 9/10

6. Octopus 🐙

Thoughts: This is my first time seeing the octopus, since it was just revealed today… but I really like the vibe, even though it is a bit of an unconventional twist on an octopus. I like the idea of an octopus for this season since so many international versions have it and the American one really needed it. It’s cool ngl, I was hoping for more of an authentic octopus tentacle thing instead of just the pants but it is cool regardless

Prediction: I think this is a male actor or singer, someone a bit older or someone popular from the 80s or 90s. I am in between like a member of Boyz 2 Men, Ted Danson, or Lance Bass for a dream cast.

First Clue: Cookie 🍪 dunked in milk 🥛

Rating: 8/10

7. Bull 🐂

Thoughts: I really like what Masked Singer did with the bull, making it look like a Spanish matador which is super cool and also ironic in a funny way. It looks really cool, kinda reminds me of the Dragon from season 4. I like it a lot tbh.

Prediction: I think this might be a male actor or musician… I am thinking similar my prediction to Octopus, either older or popular from the 80s-90s. Again, dream cast wise, I would say someone from Boyz 2 Men, AJ McClain from Backstreet Boys, or like a legend like Paul McCartney

First Clue: Lions and Tigers

Rating: 9/10

8. Queen of Hearts 🫀

Thoughts: It’s a dope costume, but the one eye and the mouth is kinda creepy looking tbh. I do like the idea of an actual heart with a crown being the Queen of Hearts instead of like a similar thing to Alice in Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts.

Prediction: Probably a female actress or TV personality (probably from reality TV perhaps), age wise I am not too sure but it might be a shorter girl. Dream cast wise I would say Liza Koshy, Nicole Richie, or Paris Hilton.

First Clue: Horses

Rating: 8/10

9. Baby 👶🏼

Thoughts: Damn, that’s a creepy baby and Masked Singer confirmed on Instagram that it was their biggest costume yet, which their previous biggest one was 7 feet, so a huge baby makes it even more terrifying like wow! However, having said that, part of me is pretty intrigued to see who the hell is under this mask. I’m sure they cannot sing tho…

Prediction: My mind straight goes to an male athlete because that would be so funny and kind of a troll on Masked Singer’s part… and that’s most of the big people we have seen thus far. So, dream cast wise, you are allowed to laugh at me but my mind immediately went to Shaq (Shaquille O’Neal) because he’s huge and if you are gonna go big for someone, it would be for Shaq.

First Clue: "This pacifier sucker never claimed to be classy, especially when I get gassy"

Rating: 6/10

10. Beach Ball 🏖

Thoughts: Yeah, there is no way a human could fit in that thing, but it’s cool regardless… I also saw that it has two faces. That’s super interesting to me honestly, it reminds me of Snail from last season who ended up being a Muppet, so this is a bit reminiscent of that. I like it, this is the most intriguing one thus far.

Prediction: As I kind of hinted at in my thoughts, I feel like this is a Muppet or puppet of some kind, round two! There might be more than one puppet in there because of the two faces, but I am gonna assume one for dream cast reasons, I really want it to be Miss Piggy because it would be funny with Kermit being there last season.

First Clue: 2 band-aids shaped like an X

Rating: 8/10

The Masked Singer Season 5 Episode 12 aka the last one of the season: THE FINALE BABY... we be done! (Commentary & Everyone’s Unmasked so Guessing No More)

Hello everyone! Welcome or welcome back to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. This is the last one for a while until season 6 comes out (I might be doing other pop culture stuff on this blog... I feel like it is turning into just a Masked Singer blog lol but I promise this time between seasons I will 100% be doing more dynamic stuff... I mean AGT is coming on Tuesday so who knows? I don’t wanna make promises, but we’ll see what I get ideas wise) and the finale didn’t disappoint (well, it kinda did, but we’ll talk about it in a min). 3 people got unmasked and we are gonna go in reverse place wonder (as in 3rd then 2nd then 1st place) so yeah let’s get into it...

Alright so firstly, the mask who came in 3rd place is...

Who was revealed to be (as I and a lot of others suspected)

Wiz Khalifa

Commentary: Yeah, I mean this doesn’t surprise me one bit (both who he was and that he was 3rd), this so reminds me of season 3 when it ended. He sang Gangsta’s Paradise by Coolio and it was good, nothing different to his other performances. He is a great rapper y’all, he’s Wiz freaking Khalifa (he said people might think he is too cool for this show, because he legit is too cool for this show), but yeah I just feel like the other 2 are better SINGERS and this is the Masked SINGER so like a rapper who doesn’t sing (because T-Pain is a rapper who could sing and he won season 1) winning really doesn’t make sense tbh. I knew this one tho, so we are at 12 out of the 13 revealed so far that I guessed correctly.

Now onto our runner-up who was...

Black Swan 🦢🖤

Who was revealed to be... my girl:

Miss Jojo!

Commentary: She sang How am I supposed to live without you by Micheal Bolton, and like OMG YESSSS GIRL SINGGGGG. Like wow this was one of her best performances since the Super 8 Kings of Leon song... like dude she should have won, this was a winning performance. Jojo did get snubbed in my humble opinion, but you know what it’s ok... she’s in very great company with the runner-ups from previous seasons, like Turtle (Jesse McCartney), Rottweiler (Chris Daughtry), Mushroom (Aloe Blacc), and Peacock (Donny Osmand)... that’s an amazing line-up right there, and then add Miss Jojo who is just a queen in her own right and that line-up is just chef’s kiss amazing. Btw her new song, Creature of Habit, is absolutely a bop, y’all should check it out, (as if she needs my freaking promo, but she’s giving us looks and vocals omg). Anyway, another one bites the dust, and bam I got it right again yay! That is 13 out of 14 reveals thus far... only 1 left.

Now, for our season 5 winner, which is...

Nick Lachey

Commentary: Wow, we have a winner ladies and gents. I didn’t honestly expect him to win, my money was honestly on Black Swan, I really wanted to her to win so bad... but I knew if he sang a ballad this finale, he would have a good shot of winning, and that is exactly what he did. He sang Faithfully by Journey and it was one of his strongest performances, so I really knew he had as good of a chance as Black Swan to win. I mean Nick Lachey did a great job, I am not mad by any means (like how I was w Night Angel winning in Season 3) but it wasn’t the result I hoped for. Anyways, congrats Pig! U did it bro!

The Masked Singer Season 5 Episode 11 Recap: The Semifinals, we are almost done wow! (Commentary)

Hello everyone and welcome to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. It’s the semifinals of season 5 which is crazy and means this season is almost over... it has been a season of a lot of highs and a lot of lows, not the show’s best season, but I digress, I know that this is late but I am doing both the final recap and this semifinal one at the same time since this past week has been insane for me. In the semifinals, we had 2 reveals, including our resident clue Chicken...

Alright, so first reveal was the chicken, who was (as I suspected):

*DRUMROLL PLEASE*

Donnie Wahlberg (aka Jenny’s husband)

Commentary: he sang this time, Return of the Mack, and bro he’s a boy bander and you can tell he’s a performer, he did a really great job. It is kind of upsetting he wasn’t a regular contestant, but I understand why he wasn’t since he is technically related to one of the judges. However, yeah he did great, New Kidz on the Block was an iconic boy band of the 90s and he’s a fantastic performer. Yeah, anyways, I got that woohoo! So far, I got 10/11 reveals correct :))).

Now, the mask who finished in 4th place was.... YETI!

Who was revealed to be...

Omarion!

Commentary: I am not gonna lie, this one was pretty upsetting of an elimination. I really was hoping he would make it to the finale since he was one of the most versatile performer ever on the show. He sang Celebrate by Kool and the Gang, and even though it wasn’t his personal best performance, he did an amazing job and I was really upset that he went, he didn’t deserve to leave.

Now, onto our finalists and commentary on their semifinal performances:

1. Piglet 🐷

Commentary: He sang Bruises by Lewis Capaldi and it is such a great song to suit his voice. It is powerful yet still a ballad so it makes an impact and it sounds really great, he can really hit those breathy notes with this song.

2. Black Swan 🖤🦢

Commentary: She sang Tequila by Dan + Shay and I honestly didn’t expect her to sing this, but I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would at the beginning. I really adore her, she is fantastic! She really with this song showcased the angelic part to her voice, but she never abandoned the power she has. Them high notes she kills with grace, she really murdered this song.

3. Chameleon 🦎

Commentary: He rapped Oh Boy by Cam’ron and Juelz Santana (idk this song honestly) and yeah it was a good performance, he’s a great rapper, like he does this for a living so duh he got talent for the rapping, but honestly I feel the same way as I did for Bow Wow, like how did he get this far?! He beat too many amazing singers that should have gone further than him, it doesn’t feel fair.

The Masked Singer Season 5 Episode 10: Quarterfinals! ft the “fiesty five” (Commentary & Guesses... well me reiterating the same guesses but adding a new one yay!)

Hello my fellow Masked Singer fanatics! Welcome or welcome back to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every episode of The Masked Singer excluding those weird sing-a-longs and Road to Finals. If someone goes home and they all sing new songs, then you will most likely see me recap it! And that’s exactly what happened this time... quarterfinals baby! We are almost at the end, only 2 more weeks to go wow! 5 contestants remaining, so let’s start with our 5th place contestant, shall we?

So the person (or should I say people) coming in 5th place and getting eliminated this episode is...

*DRUMROLL PLEASE*

The Russian Dolls 🪆🪆🪆(yes, there are 3 of them)

Commentary: This one really surprised me honestly, I didn’t see this coming. Their performance of I’m Still Standing by Elton John was one of my favorite ones they have done honestly. I really enjoyed it, and even one of them was playing the freaking piano! Like it was super impressive and as always their harmonies are on point and insanely perfect.... that’s the only way I can explain it: perfect. Their voices work together perfectly, it’s like they’re a band of brothers or something (😉😉).

Anyways, they were revealed to be...

*DRUMROLL AGAIN*

Hanson (Wooo!)

Woohoo! Another one bites the dust, I got it correct yay.. 9/10 right so far. This is a new record for me, I usually get 2 wrong in the beginning reveals of previous seasons, so I am kinda proud of this so far yay! However, the reveal itself surprised me, I thought that they would make it at least to the semifinals if not the finale so this elimination I didn’t see coming. Especially after that performance which I think is one of their best. However, I was super nervous that they were gonna send Black Swan home so I was relieved by this ngl...

Anyways, having said that, let’s talk about the remaining 4 semifinalists:

1. Piglet 🐷

Commentary: Ok, so of all the performances this episode, his was the most surprising... because he started off sing OPERA. Honestly, I would have never thought Nick Lachey can sing in Italian and have that strong Operatic voice... the more you know man. However, he actually continued by singing Supertitous by Stevie Wonder which was a bit of a let down.. as I have said multiple times, his best is with ballads and his voice isn’t suited for upbeat songs like this one. In this case, he started at an all time high 📈 and it got me hyped but then it kind of died down 📉 by the middle and end. I did enjoy the performance tho but I wish he would have just sang opera the entire time because it left me wanting to hear more of the opera song.

2. Chameleon 🦎

Commentary: again I say, I am so sorry to people who are rap fans and/or fans of the chameleon/Wiz Khalifa, but I honestly feel like he should have gone home instead of the dolls. His performance of “Drop it like it’s not” by Snoop Dogg was not his best one, and his rapping is getting kinda repetitive at this point,even tho he is very good at it. Also, side note, the judges had the audacity to say that they thought this was Snoop even tho he sang a song by the guy and in the song he legit spelled “S-n-double o-p D-o-double g....” like um if it were Snoop, he wouldn’t be THAT obvious. Anyways, yeah I predict he is next to go.

3. Yeti ❄️☃️

Commentary: Alright, so Yeti is really surprising me honestly, quickly becoming my second favorite after my girl Black Swan. He is such a versatile performer, I never would have expected Omarion to rap, dance, roller skate, do R&B songs, and now sing some country. It made me nervous at first when he said country in the clue package, because I know him as a R&B musician, but I was really pleasantly surprised with his performance of Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts, it was really smooth and unexpectedly great!

4. Black Swan 🖤🦢

Commentary: Speaking of my girl, here she is... omg I love her, please win girl, I beg of you! Her performance of Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran was.... um... interesting.... in the song choice department. It was absolutely not her best performance, but I gotta give her credit that she did make the song her own. However, she has so much range in her voice and she absolutely didn’t showcase it with this song. I really want Jojo in the semifinals to step it up and choose songs that I know she can absolutely crush like songs by female R&B and Soul singers (some of these do mix these genres with pop but u get me) that are still mainstream enough that people know them (i.e. Aretha Franklin, Destiny’s Child/Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, etc.).... even like them pop girlies who have like crazy ranges, y’all know who I am talking about: Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, Celine Dion, Tori Kelly, etc. Please girl give me something with more oomph and that will give me goosebumps, because she can do that stuff but I feel like she is holding back. It’s gonna be the semifinals, I really hope she doesn’t hold back!

Bonus Jonas: Clueluedoo aka the freaking clue chicken...let’s talk about who I think he is (since he will be revealed next week!) 🐓

Commentary: ok like please Masked Singer I beg of you, never give me this character again, who doesn’t even sing but interrupts people with clues or something idk... I didn’t like this concept, it was strange, sometimes he was MIA and sometimes he got annoying... so I really hope next season they don’t bring this back. But at the same time, I kinda understand why they did do it this time based on who I feel like it is

Donnie Wahlberg (aka Jenny’s husband)

Reasoning: ok, you might know him from New Kidz on the Block or because his family is very famous... but he is married to one of the judges, Jenny McCarthy, and I feel like that’s why Masked Singer decided to take the “he doesn’t sing nor get any clues on the show til the end” route but still give him this weird clue route... I get it, I didn’t like it, but I understand it. Anyways, here’s why I think so (only clues imma provide for y’all)

He has never been on the show, as a contestant nor judge= this was on the Masked Singer podcast, and this is true, which rules out another popular guess, Joel McHale

He has a connection with one of the contestants= that would be Nick Lachey, they toured together (New Kidz on the block and 98 degrees did)

He pointed out Ken and Jenny specifically= he’s married to Jenny duh... and Ken is a family friend of theirs, they have dinner at each other’s houses a lot

He’s known in the kitchen (also from the podcast)= yup, he is known for his burgers (Wahlburgers)

Also, in the preview, Jenny is seen freaking out and falling on the floor, probably because that’s her husband and she prob guessed him incorrect but I didn’t so lol am I married to him? No... how did I get it then lmao 😂
