I rewatched Midsommar which is a truly fantastic movie and like a lot of great movies it gets richer on rewatches because it's so carefully crafted. At the center of all of this is Florence Pugh, whose work I am always astounded by. In this movie she has one of the more difficult things to pull off which is someone making bad decisions but you both get why and sort of want her to go through with it. I won't get into the weeds of the movie but it is about grief and empathy and support and I don't think essentially joining a cult is a great life decision on her point but given they have shown her radical empathy and share the burden of her grief I get it. The rest of the movie is about her hiding her pain with the fear of burdening others with it, not unfounded since we see other people resenting her because of her grief and the fact that she needs someone to help carry the load. So when someone does with enthusiasm and finally embraces her and helps to share the load, you can't think of anything else she can or should do. In lesser hands this role would be that of a villain but instead it's our protagonist and frankly she's more right than the assholes around her. I know there are bad takes on this movie that would disagree with me but that's my take on it and it's in large part because Florence Pugh is so good on screen. So I am posting her. Today I want to fuck Florence Pugh.

Here is some Anne Hathaway for you all. She did a shoot for V Magazine which is the capstone on why she is here. She's done a bunch of photoshoots recently that have looked great and I cannot for the life of me think of what she's promoting right now. It must be something because it's rare people just do photoshoots for fun. Anyway, it's the capstone but my brain really wanted her because I had a dream she was doing a remake of the Vampire Lovers, which I was excited about. It would actually be a deeply silly idea to remake a movie most people don't know anything about that is just a loose adaptation of Carmilla when you can just make your own loose adaptation of Carmilla. That said, I do think Anne Hathaway as Carmilla would be really rich territory for her. And you know what, I bet I can get one vote for this at least from @kat-eleven who I forced to watch the Vampire Lovers years ago (she didn't much like it, she prefers Twilight where two boys fight over a girl rather than vampire movies where girls kiss). Anyway, none of that is even slightly connected to reality but when I woke up to a new photoshoot I figured it was a sign that I had to post her. Today I want to fuck Anne Hathaway.

The last time I posted Christin I promised more posters featuring the same pose in a different outfit and I like to deliver on my promises. She is facing the other way tho. But the main highlight is definitely consistent. There’s a time for subtlety and there’s a time to just say “I’ve got one of the hottest asses in the world and I’m just gonna lean into it.” I think Christin makes excellent decisions. The last outfit I chose was very for me. Today’s outfit is even more for me. Can’t wait to see which outfit I choose next time! Today’s girlcrushart guardián is Christin Black.

I went to a retrospective on Mario Bava yesterday. It was all work of his I had seen but it was my first chance to see it on the big screen and I was excited for that because the real joy of Bava is that he was a visual master. His movies are just gorgeous to look at. The scene composition, the camera movements, the sets, he was just amazing at in camera special effects and creating beauty with essentially no budget. My favorite Bava movie is Black Sunday and it was one of the movie's shown and wow was it great to see in such high quality. The black and white photography was gorgeous and one of the things that makes the movie so good is Barbara Steele. It's really her introduction to the world just as it was for Bava as well. If you don't know her, she became the queen of Italian Gothic Horror in the 60's, she in so many of these movies and her look is a big part of that. I don't know what to say about her quality as an actress because she often isn't given much to do and some of what she did was over the top but that's not why she's there. She is there because she is striking to look at. Beautiful yes but there is an extra element of presence to her. We have the high cheekbones and so on but there is an ability to look severe and foreboding as well that makes for an extra something that a gothic horror movie needs. She plays a dual role in Black Sunday and part of what makes it work is she is both a 16th century vampire and an 18th century princess and there is a feeling of unease when she first shows up as the princess. Anyway, she looked very good and while 1960's movies are tame there were a few shots of bodice ripping that also worked for me on another level. So here she is. Today I want to fuck Barbara Steele.
