Hc that after everyone’s kingdoms are rebuilt Rowan and Manon become a brotp. Whenever Rowaelin comes to Rifthold he and Manon will spar together, trade work out tips, and gossip about the ridiculous antics of Aelin and Dorian. And one day when they’re chatting Aelin and Dorian hear them laughing and start eavesdropping only burst in outraged when they figure out what they’re talking about. “WHAT IS THIS??????” And Rowan and Manon just look over at them and casually say “Support group” Thoughts?
Tumblr media
Lmao this is great!!
Especially since Rowan and Manon probably wouldnt be into the book club vibe of Dorian and Aelin. They enjoy reading but they’re not obsessive about it.
Same thing with clothes. As time passes Dorian gets back into his old habits of Dressing Well. Aelin never really fell out of the habit. Leaving Manon and Rowan to commiserate over giant closets filled with extravagant clothing instead of the weaponry they’d prefer.
One time when Manon and Dorian visit Orynth, Elide and Lorcan are there. Lorcan gives it his best shot but eventually sneaks away to leave Elide with Aelin and Dorian to argue over the end of a book series. (he taught Elide to read and she devours every book she gets her hands on)
Eventually he finds Manon and Rowan. They salute him with their glasses of wine and welcome him to the club.
They collectively agree that they are too old for this shit.
They also collectively agree that they wouldn’t change a thing about their spouses! ❤️

The Elorcan Smut from Kingdom of Ash we Didn’t Get but We Deserve
Elide loses her virginity, okay? I feel like collectively we all needed this. This continues on literally from that chapter, but no fade to black this time folks. Nope. To set the scene, we join a very shirtless Elide and Lorcan bout to do the deed. And I’ll be damned if I ain’t here for it.
(find my masterlist here if you’d like to see the other shameless SJM fan fiction I’ve written)

-Elide virginity smut-
Elide kissed him again and said, “Show me everything.”
His answering growl sent shocks through her body, right to her core. He kissed her neck again, her lips, and as his eyes made contact with hers she could see the unspoken question.
Are you sure?

I just saw your post KOA ask meme and I seriously need to read a fic/hc where Aedion summons Gavriel's spirit and he's just holding his toddler who can shift like his g-pa, i.e. a lion cub, and he's just like, "FUcking hELP!" And Gavriel is like, "PFFFFT!" While also crying tears of joy.
AHHHH YOU DID THAT, YOU KILLED ME @robbydiamond
omg I love it. So here goes, I’m just gonna flesh this out a little.
Aedion and Lysandra have their first child. It doesn’t take long after they marry.
They aren’t really sure what to expect from a child born of a shapeshifter and a demi-fae.
Human? Shifter powers? Fae powers?
It isn’t until their first boy is about 3 years old that they begin to suspect something is going on.
They keep waking up to get him in the morning and finding him in odd places.
Curled up by the fire.
Tucked into the corner of his toybox, the toys removed.
One time they find him on the kitchen counter.
They brush it off, thinking maybe kids are just like that?
Lysandra has a baby girl to think of, so she is trying to keep her chill.
Aedion is the first one who walks in on a baby tiger cub in his son’s room.
He loses his shit, and his son freaks out and shifts back to his human form and starts WAILING.
The boy has no idea why his daddy is yelling.
Evangeline comes in and comforts the boy, like the good big sister she is.
When Aedion calms down, he tells Lysandra.
She has never raised a shifter before. All she remembers is what her mother did to her when she found out.
Lysandra suggests that they contact Gavriel. Surely, he could say something helpful?
Even if Gavriel didn’t raise him, he would know what it’s like to grow up with this power.
It takes Aedion a couple of tries to summon him, not because he can’t do it, but because he’s not sure if he wants to.
Gavriel finally shows up, and Aedion has his son with him. Aedion Jr. is so excited to see his grandfather that he shifts into his lion (cub) form.
Aedion is completely mortified that he now has to look so incompetent to his dad, but it’s probably better than having to actually say it.
Gavriel is smiling so widely.
Aedion could swear a tear is coming to his eye, but maybe that’s just what apparitions look like.
“So,” he starts. “I don’t know what to do.”
“Clearly.”
Gavriel starts making cooing noises, and lion-baby grabs his favorite toy from his chest and sets it in front of him.
Aedion feels completely left out.
Gavriel tilts his head, and Aedion Jr. shifts back to his 3-year-old human self.
Aedion Jr. lets out a little grrrr to Gavriel and runs off.
Aedion: So ummmm… is he always going to be little like this?
Gavriel: Well you know Aedion, children grow up. *Grins.*
Aedion: I don’t know what I’m doing!
Gavriel: You said that already.
Aedion: Don’t you have wisdom from being super old?
They spent the rest of the evening talking about Gavriel’s childhood and training, which ends up being about much more than just learning how to raise Aedion’s son.

Manorian thoughts on KoA - Affection
WARNING: SPOILERS
I find it so SO interesting that throughout Kingdom of Ash, it hadn’t been Dorian who showed affection between him and Manon as I (and I’m sure all of us) expected him to be.
It was Manon who’d come striding to his tent unannounced and disturb him even if it’s just to sit next to him in the dark (and eventually lead to something more). It was Manon who initiated an explanation about sharing a tent between the two of them, as if it needed one. It was Manon who complimented Dorian and asked him for advice with court intrigue and scheming in regards to their precarious situation with the Crochans. It was Manon who slid over him and initiated first contact when they knew it was time to stop talking and move on to more pleasurable things. It was Manon who INITIATED THEIR MOST INTIMATE AND VULNERABLE hand-holding moment and CUDDLED with him after (!!!!). I could go on and on!
Dorian was so convinced that he didn’t deserve to care for Manon, let alone love her, that he kept trying to find ways to see Manon as nothing but a present, pleasurable connection; a wild “release” that he needed whilst everyone around him was dying and/or progressing in their journeys.
And I think that’s why he wasn’t the one to approach her or to initiate the showing of affection. He was afraid that his strong feelings for Manon, his growing love for her is a “betrayal” to the memory of Sorscha, of Adarlan, and of his mission to right his wrongs. Lines to note specifically:
“Gods above, she was beautiful. He wondered when it would stop feeling like a betrayal to think so.”
“But the hours in this tent hadn’t yielded any sort of intimacy. Only blessed distraction. For both of them. He was glad of it, he told himself.” - here we see Dorian trying to convince himself that he was glad that it was just a distraction when clearly, in the first half of the book, it wasn’t.
Throughout this time, we can see that Manon’s growing to care for Dorian more and more, hence, the affection, or the physical manifestation of such care and love for him through these moments. She’s always aware of him, just as much as he is (the book was riddled with such and I wanted to scream every time!).
It’s interesting to note his conversation with Maeve as well regarding their supposed marriage alliance. Maeve’s only information about Manon and Dorian’s relationship is through Cyrene (correct me if I’m wrong here). But already, Maeve knows Manon’s importance in his life and vice versa…and she tries to use it against him.
“But that is neither here nor there. Cyrene is dead, and you are a long way from the arms of Manon Blackbeak.”
“And Manon Blackbeak? What of your promises to her?” “I have made her no promises regarding my throne, and she wants nothing to do with them, anyway.” He didn’t hide the bitterness as he shrugged again. “Marriages have been built on far more volatile foundations than this one.” - IMPORTANT. Even after the most intimate and vulnerable of moments they shared before he left, Dorian has let himself believe that Manon doesn’t actually care for him as he thought or wanted her to be. Manon gave him his heart just before this, for crying out loud! Was willing to give up her freedom for him and yet, he was blinded by his resolution that he did not deserve it. That to be loved by someone that deeply that they would give up everything for him, cannot be possible after all that he has done. Hence, his bitterness about it. About the actual truth that their alliance/their MARRIAGE would not have been built in a volatile foundation, but of actual love, respect, care, and admiration for each other.
Dorian’s emotional baggage has blinded him from the love that he could have right then and there with Manon. It’s no wonder that he felt jealous of the physical affection between Chaol and Yrene and how he deeply yearned for it, wanted it, and who invades his thoughts while looking at them? Manon!! Because he wants her, because he loves her, and because he wished they could share that same casual intimacy his best friend had. And knowing, deep inside, that he could have, if he just let himself love her and be loved in return.
For Sorscha. He kept repeating to himself the entire time. Not because he didn’t love her (he did!) but because he wanted to make things right. He wanted to finish his mission, to rid the world of Erawan and Maeve and the darkness, so he could be at peace that Sorscha has been vindicated and therefore, he can love another (Manon) and have her “remain by his side for all his days”. Which is what he’s wanted all along. He was “selfish” and “greedy enough” for her that he wanted her, always have.
But he couldn’t act on it, not until he’s done what he has to do, even at the cost of his life.
WOW this is long! But I’m glad that both Manon and Dorian’s arcs showed precisely how reflective they are of each other, how “she was already his equal, his match, his mirror in so many ways.”
So, in short, though Manon showed most of the physical affection (and I 100% LOVED IT BEYOND MEASURE), we can be assured just how much Dorian would’ve done so if he hadn’t been in such a dark place at that time (i.e. pulling her tight against him during their last night together, and approaching her and pulling her into a hug himself after the final battle when she needed the comfort).
Manorian delivered in KoA. And I’m so excited that their journey as two people with the burden of their crowns and their kingdoms, can now do so together.

12) What did you think of the sex scenes in KoA (since they are always the topic of discourse)?SOOOO there’s a lot to unpack here, so I’m going to start with my feelings on SJM’s use of sex generally before I move on to KoA’s scenes specifically because there is a lot of ControversyTM around the sex scenes beyond light-hearted shipping and I want to fully explain myself. To put it simply: the sex content in ToG (and ACoTAR for that matter) has never bothered me. In fact, I usually quite enjoy it! However, I am a twenty-something adult lady; I enjoy seeing character relationships explored through sex and find it to be an interesting layer to relationships. So I do have to remind myself where her books (specifically, the Throne of Glass series) sit in the market. Which is in YA. Which includes very young readers (13-18 year olds more or less). With that in mind, I can see why people have a problem with the level of explicit detail she includes. I personally think EoS was toeing the line pretty closely with some of the scenes. I think it is GREAT to include sex positive content for younger readers, especially if it portrays sexual relationships in realistic and healthy ways and goes beyond just alluding to sex to actually like, showing how it works? If that makes sense? But a lot of SJM’s stylistic choices around sex scenes meander into the erotica realm, so I get why people might find this slightly off the mark for younger readers.
It became pretty apparent in KoA that she toned it down slightly and while there was certainly still plenty of sex, it wasn’t quite so…in your face? Idk. Again, I love me a good smut scene so I’m cool with it but it really comes down to what is appropriate in context.
Now, for my main complaint in KoA:I would have LOVED to see an extended version of Elide and Lorcan’s ~dangerous bath time~ and sorta felt….cheated that all we got was some light making out and a fade to black? To me, they were the most compelling side character romance and they had SO much build up only to gloss over like that? I can’t lie: I was disappointed we didn’t get a bit more. Beyond that, I can’t really think of any other scenes that stuck out to me. Rowaelin was hot/cute, but sort of business as usual? Sometime I wish SJM would mix up her language use with her fae sex scenes, they all sort of start to blend together sometimes SORRY but it’s impossible to unsee.
13) What was your least favorite scene in KoA?Okay, so full confession: I hardcore skim over plot-y and/or battle scenes. So I ended up really becoming lost towards the end when we got to the lock forging/Nameless is my Price shenanigans (my own fault, of course). I also baaaarely paid attention to the Aedion chapters because I find it hard to care about the battle stuff. I’M SORRY IM A FAKE FAN. I try to get into those scenes but unless they involve a very direct conflict (ie Elide’s horseback rescue of Lorcan) I find it hard to stay focused. 14) Name your top three BROTPs coming out of KoA.- Well Evangeline and Darrow bonding was fucking adorable??!!! who the HECK would have seen that coming (not me)- Yrene and Elide teaming up with the healing was 10/10- Also I was lowkey really into the weird ass Maeve/Dorian scenes. Felt super out of the blue but I sort of loved watching them interact? Am I strange? I feel dirty? What is wrong with me?

In the Quiet After - elorcan fanfic 1/2
Summary
Elide and Lorcan journey home to Perranth, where he helps her deal with what has become of her former home.
AO3 | tags - fluff, angst, post-KoA so SPOILERS | 1.2k | For my elorcan trash babies @theyretheirthere @rayonfrozenwings
*****
Elide stayed in Orynth long enough for Aelin to officially transfer the title of Lady of Perranth to her, though a few weeks went by before she felt completely ready to go home. Home had been an idea rather than a place for so long, she wasn’t sure she could get there, even with that map and muscle memory guiding her. The title transferred, Elide found herself the ruler of a territory that had been gutted and then left to waste in the years since the King of Adarlan wrecked their lives. Whatever she found when she returned, it certainly wouldn’t be the warm halls of her childhood.
At least she wasn’t going alone. Elide wasn’t quite used to being addressed as Lady, especially when the word came from Lorcan’s mouth. While he said it to get a rise out of her more often than not, that didn’t account for the times he used it with sincerity. She wasn’t sure if he was still trying to atone for what happened on that beach in Eyllwe or if he was used to love looking like this; like servitude and obedience, blind trust and stepping around eggshells.
Returning to Perranth was a longer journey than Elide remembered, partly because Lorcan was busy taking it in as if it were heaven. And, she supposed, in a way it was. He’d never been anywhere he wasn’t commanded to go, had never visited a place for anything as simple as his own pleasure. Elide had long ago learned to look at the world as a threat, and so to her, too, those rolling hills were suddenly disarming in their quiet peace.
