I saw someone already notice this on Tiktok but I'm me, so I'm going to put my thoughts into it as well.

There is a scene in the show where Wilhelm is laying in bed and is slightly stroking his back. Many people think it's because he didn't have Simon but I think he was trying to comfort himself as a mother would do. Because later on in episode 5 we see Simon being comforted by Linda on the couch and she is stroking his arm and asking if he's ok. Now Wilhelm craves motherly love because the queen never gave it to him. So I feel like he was trying to give himself comfort.

⚠️CW INTIMACY BETWEEN MINORS!⚠️

Ok I would like to talk about intimacy in Young Royals because of a conversation I had with someone! I told someone that they had an intimacy coordinator for their intimate scenes and they said "They needed someone to choreograph their sex scenes?".

I think that this shows alot. Many people think intimacy is just sex when it is not! Intimacy is moments shared between people that show them being close. I think it is so important that there were many intimate scenes in the show that didn't revolve around sex. Because many people think that relationships, especially queer ones, revolves around the sex. I think personally it's great that it showed you can be intimate with your partner without it having to lead to anything you do not want or feel comfortable with. It blows my mind that people still think like this! I hope you guys understand what I'm saying with this.

Ok it's time to talk about Young Royals some more! So I want to talk about the "We haven't done anything wrong" scene. I think that alot of people, including me, think that it was extremely important to show this in media. It is amazing for younger people and some older to know that it's ok to be different then other people. Simon was reassuring Wilhelm that no matter what his mother said (Queen Kristina) they did absolutely nothing wrong. He also said this to make sure that Wilhelm should never have to apologize for being himself. Simon grew up in an environment where he was always accepted. It's important to alot of people to have someone to lean on about stuff like this. Wilhelm needs the constant reassurance. Wilhelms love language is touch and Simon's is words of affirmation. So Wilhelm confirms with Simon that "no we haven't" because he knew that Simon needed to hear that it wasnt his fault that they fell in love and it wasn't a mistake. Simon is grabbing Wilhelms hands and tightly holding him to make sure he is grounded and to know that he will always be there. It is SO IMPORTANT to show this since Queer love is often represented as wrong and that it should be a secret!!

Let's talk about the Lucia hug. Alot of people think that the only reason Simon hugged Wilhelm was because he didn't want to see him cry. I do not believe that. Wilhelm says "you're the only person here I can talk to" but right before that he says "I just didn't want to lose you". Simon is the only person who understands Wilhelm and can see through the Prince act that Wilhelm has put up. Simon understands that if Wilhelm said it wasn't Alexander and it was him. Then Simon would never be able to have a future. He would be kicked out of school and wouldn't be able to get into another one. Simon loves Wille and both of them let their guards down around eachother. Wilhelm wants what is best for both of them and Simon understands that. Simon isnt used to people taking up for him and he cares about other people. Wilhelm has always been taught to not show emotions. Simon has showed him that it is ok. Wilhelm will protect the people close to him before protecting other people like Alexander. Wilhelm holds onto Simon tight in this hug because the last person who promised to love him and be there died. He never got to say goodbye so what Wilhelm wants is Simon to know that he doesn't want to lose him like he lost Erik.

"Jag Älskar Dig" (I love you), which is what Wilhelm says. He was not looking for Simon to say it back. He said it as a promise that 'I love you and it's not going to change, I will do whatever it takes'. At the very end while Wilhelm is in the car he looks at the camera as Revolution by Elias plays. Now the line that starts when he looks in the camera says "Revolution". Revolution plays when Wilhelm first says he likes Simon and when he says I love you. Now what would start a Revolution? Them.

Maturing is realizing that Simon wasn't asking Wilhelm to come out when he said "I don't want to be anybody's secret". People seem to forget that RIGHT BEFORE that he says "if I'm somebody that you have to hide". Meaning that Simon was not asking Wilhelm to come out. He was simply asking for Wilhelm to not treat him as a dirty secret that he couldn't be seen with.

Hot take about Young Royals from someone who over analyzies: Simon knew DEEP down that Wilhelm was not going to tell the truth. When he said goodbye right before the interview he closed his eyes while connecting his forehead with Wilhelm and kissed him. He knew. He was trying to capture their last moment before it happened. The moment of betrayal when he sees that Wilhelm denied it, you can also see that he closes his eyes in understanding that no matter what Wilhelm said. Their lives would never be the same.
