Yeah you're right. It WOULD be pretty fucked up if you were a swan but you were raised by ducks and you grew up never seeing another swan or even knowing that such a thing as a swan even existed so you just thought you were a duck with something super wrong with it.

Just stumbled upon this beautifully edited video that showcases the repeating patterns, animation and imagery in Evangelion.

(Contains spoilers for the whole anime and End of Eva. CW for flashing lights, blood, gore, violence, suicide, nudity and sexual themes, just the typical Eva stuff~)

This is another reason why I'm so fascinated with this anime. Even from the very first episode you see things that will repeat themselves much, much later. It also makes rewatching it all very fun cause you notice the repeats more and more.
