Every spring in Christchurch New Zealand thousands of daffodils bloom all over the city. It started as a tradition about 100 years ago and now they are basically a symbol for the city and everyone plants them. They also plant blue bells and snow drops with them because they bloom at the same time.

It's very common to see new parents taking the traditional photos of their baby amongst the daffodils. Everyone born here including me has a set of photos from their daffodil photoshoot.
