We need everyone's help right now to protect the rainforest and Indigenous People

The Amazon Rainforest is under a massive threat. I know you've heard this a million times, but this is different. There is a piece of legislation that will decimate the rights of Indigenous people of Brazil, who have been protecting the rainforest. It's unfathomably bad. It has majority support. And they're voting tomorrow. As reported here, the Bill allows "the Brazilian government to find energy resources, set up military bases, develop strategic roads, and implement commercial agriculture on protected Indigenous tribal lands, without any prior discussion with the affected peoples."

The thing you can do—and I know this sounds overly simple—is sign this petition—and tell your friends to do the same: SIGN HERE.

As reported here, the Bill allows "the Brazilian government to find energy resources, set up military bases, develop strategic roads, and implement commercial agriculture on protected Indigenous tribal lands, without any prior discussion with the affected peoples."

Again, this bill has majority support. You may be wondering, why will a petition signed by people who don't live in Brazil make any difference? Because it will give those opposing it political air cover. It will show the world is with them.

But we need a LOT of signatures.

The Alcott thoughts

The song is beautiful. Overall great. The National rarely disappoint.

Taylor’s additions to The Alcott really are just top tier. They paint this picture of unrelenting and reassuring love. Someone who loves the other person flaws and all and is just waiting for them to get it. It’s like saying I’m still going to see the best in you even if you don’t and I’ll wait for you to come back and let me love you.

Tell me which side are you on, dear? Give me some tips to forget you. Have I become one of your problems? Could it be easy this once? Everything that’s mine is a landmine. Did my love aid and abet you? Why don’t you rain on my parade? Shred my evening gown. Read my sentence out loud. Cause I love this curse on our house.

It’s like a sweeter version of Renegade.

Is it insensitive for me to say get your shit together so I can love you? Is it really your anxiety that stops you from giving me everything or do you just not want to?

You wouldn’t be the first renegade to need somebody.

Labyrinth and The Alcott also feel connected.

The “uh oh, I’m fallin’ in love” gives off the same energy as “it’s the last thing you wanted it’s the first thing I do I tell you that I think I’m falling back in love with you.”

“I thought the plane was goin’ down how’d you turn it right around?” has the same energy as “there you are, sitting as usual with your golden notebook writing something about someone who used to be me” + “I had to do something to break into your golden thinking. How many times will I do this and you’ll still believe.”

“This is the Red era, and the Red album was an album that I was creating when I was 21 and 22, which I don’t know about your experience but for me, it was a fraught age. It was so many things all at once, right? You’re feeling so grown up but you also feel like you have one foot left in childhood. And it’s really kind of I think confusing for a lot of people, because it’s a complicated time, how a lot of the world is treating you like an adult, but a lot of the world is treating you like a kid, and you can’t quite figure out in your own head how you feel about that. And it was an album where I felt really compelled to experiment, right? I was coming from country music, which I love so much. I was so curious about other types of music and was hoping I could just try to learn and grow and evolve. I wondered if fans would embrace that.Over time I’ve learned that trusting you to be open-minded has always been the best thing I could ever do, is trusting that you would accept me trying to do new things. You’ve been so wonderful to me in that regard. It’s the reason why we’re getting to play music for all these albums that are so vastly different, from everything that I’ve [….] you’ve given me the freedom to do that. So I’d like to play my favorite song from that album, if you have an extra 10 minutes?”
