Zeus
Harbinger of lust
Strikes me up in featherbed
To tend the swollen lip
Of a cup overflowing
Which spill out life

I hate parallels
The way they mesh without touching
I hate looking down onto myself
Eyes glazed by pity
And also looking so far up
Into those orbs
That wrinkle differently
The way that the image in a mirror
Will never be the same shape
On either side

Okay guys! COVID19 college updates:
Comcast is offering 2 months of free internet to low income students! I’m not sure if this is specifically for SoCal student but nonetheless I thought it was important to share! Please message me for the link if you’re in that area and need this resource to continue school remotely.

I’ve always had the most inexplicable sadness when it rains
As soon as the sky is overwhelmed by billowing grey watchdogs
I climb into my prison of sheets
When my millions of tears fall through a vortex called the sky
I sleep frightfully
In fact I can’t recall the actual sight of rain
Or at least I can’t recall the still dampness of the world
But I’m familiar with its droning sound on my walls
It echoes in my ears when I drift
And suddenly there are millions of raindrops in my room
Falling through the vortex in my eyes

OKAY the resources and how to use them as campuses change to online classes (these are all things you may or may not already be using) THIS WILL BE LONG
Organization:
Google Calendar - under ‘Other calendars’ you can create a new calendar specifically for school assignments. This also lets you hide your school assignments or personal events on your phone and computer!
Outlook Calendar - use ‘Add Calendar’ to make a personalized school calendar
Notes - actually typing a list of all of your syllabi dates on one document is a great visualizer. It also helps to highlight them as completed (my list has all class assignments on one Google Doc).
Canvas - if your school uses Canvas like mine you can add tasks to your ‘Dashboard’ using the plus sign in the top right-hand corner. Also, it’s important to click on ‘Courses’ and star them so they show up on your dashboard.
Time Management:
Use the ‘Downtime’ and ‘Do Not Disturb’ functions of your phone :)
Follow the syllabus you've been given as closely as possible.
Connecting with the class:
Teachers - please only email your teacher at their preferred email using your school email. Be very precise with your subject line as well, often teachers give a guide in the syllabus: use it! Other emails often get discarded and netiquette is very important in an online class setting.
Students - Hangouts, Skype, and email are great ways to contact classmates without inundating your text messages with schoolwork (when everything is online you need the separation).
Assignments:
G Suite - Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Doc Hub, etc are available to anyone with a gmail
Microsoft Office - online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc are available to anyone with an outlook email
Just some essentials :)
Quizlet - https://quizlet.com/latest
Zotero (search engine addon) - https://www.zotero.org/
Grammarly (spellcheck) - https://www.grammarly.com/signup
Google Scholar (books, article, etc!) - https://scholar.google.com/
Desmos - https://www.desmos.com/
Purdue Owl (MLA & APA) - https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/purdue_owl.html
EasyBib - https://www.easybib.com/
Last and MOST IMPORTANT: look up your school’s health office if you need someone to talk to or need to find the proper services to guide you through this confusing time
Okay! I know I’m a poetry blog but I wanted to give some college students tips for taking online classes because of coronavirus...
I’ve attended the majority of my first 2 years of uni online for health reasons and it’s not a walk in the park!
I want everyone to pass/graduate so keep these things in mind:
You picked your in person class times at an hour that you work efficiently (or whenever it was available lol) so try to get your work done during those hours
If you work better at a different time do your work then (I.e. I take a really long time to wake up so I do online school after 5pm)
Not all teachers will have a strict hour that class will occur or a certain time you need to work so it is up to you to set aside time to learn, study, AND do homework (all three are still important)
A lot of you have been asked to move back home which is a strange learning environment. DO NOT be afraid to ask your family to accommodate your self made learning schedule by turning off the tv or giving you the living room for a hour
DO NOT leave all of your work for the last minute! Create your own self-regulated syllabus and schedule. (I.e. I hate doing schoolwork on the weekends but I have homework do on Sundays so I schedule those assignments for the week)
Put the phone away please.
And most importantly! Talk to your classmates and your professor! Ask for help when you need it.
My inbox is also open if you have questions about online textbooks and study tools :)

Hunting Song
I am the bird you set free
Who never came back
Because she didn’t understand
That you set her free to
Display your love
Thus I was unable to return
To this transmutation of
Feather to claw
What you hadn’t helped me grasp
