Tried my hand at making a dunmeshi oc teehee. This is Waard.

They’re a half-orc half-elf with punk-ish tendencies. Their dad is a Canary and met their mom while inspecting a dungeon and they fell in love and quickly had Waard. Their dad was able to spend a few years with them but was eventually forced to leave, but promised he would return someday. But elf senses of time meant it was 30+ years before he was able to, and in that time Waard’s mother had passed of old age.

Their dad ended up taking them back to the west with him and they found it just as if not more difficult to fit in in elf society. Being raised with orcs in a dungeon meant teasing and bullying for being physically frail (for an orc) and they were always interested in reading whatever old books on magic they could find or pilfer from adventurers. Going to live above ground among elves meant getting to learn much more magic than they could before but it also meant being mistreated for being too orc-like instead. Their plan is to get the fuck out of there and back into a dungeon as soon as they finish studying and as far away from their dad as possible (who they despise for abandoning them and their mom, even though they know it’s not that simple). Also they’re piggey 🐖

Wasting Star Pokemon

Evolves from Mareanie starting at level 38 when HP is 25% or lower

An increase in global oceanic temperatures and the presence of pollutants have caused some populations of Mareanie to become susceptible to a deadly virus, mirroring the fate of their preferred prey species, Corsola, in the Galar region. This virus weakens the Pokémon, stunting development and preventing evolution into Toxapex. Some members of the dwindling population are able to evolve into the rare Phantopex, the Wasting Star Pokémon.

The body of a Phantopex is weak and frail, with much of its tissues having wasted away to nothing. It forms new arms from otherworldly energy, and crawls along the sea floor in search of prey to drain the life essence from. If it finds a hapless victim, it will ensnare it by enveloping them in its many ectoplasmic arms, twisting in on itself to keep them in place until the deed is done. Divers know to keep an eye out for dark sludge on the sea floor, as a trail of the substance suggests a prowling Phantopex may be just out of sight.

Based on sea star wasting disease, a condition that’s caused populations of certain species of sea stars (particularly of note Pycnopodia helianthoides, the sunflower star) to rapidly decline in recent years. The way I have most often heard the progression of the illness described is the sea star appears to be “melting.” They will also twist and contort their bodies to rip their own arms off.

Bonus

Some Thistle in-recovery hcs (because I am Coping until the end of time)

He falls back asleep after the end of the manga and is unresponsive so a lot of ppl’s efforts wrt are focused around trying to figure out how to get him to wake up

Speaking of. There’s lots of fighting over whether or not they should just give his body over to the elves to execute with different characters on different sides of the debate

Yaad (as “Delgal”) tries talking to him several times to see if anything happens but it doesn’t (gee I wonder why)

Senshi and Laios team up to try and find something that he actually wants to eat and it gets more elaborate and frightening until eventually someone (probably Kabru or Marcille) forces them to stop

Marcille makes a habit of visiting him every day and ends up rambling to him a lot about various things bc obviously he doesn’t respond. He hears all of it, though :)

Falin also visits regularly but she instead just sits with him and sometimes reads him books. She swears that sometimes he opens his eyes to look at her but no one believes it!
