“ALERIONS”: CHAPTER 4

After a short conversation, L Faba looked at Daphne with undisguised surprise.

- You are saying there are no parents of wizards? - the sage squinted skeptically.

-This is the first time I hear about this place. Of course I have no wizards in my family. - answered Daphne.

The mentor came closer to the girl, burning her with a piercing gaze. From such attention, for a split second, Daphne thought that she had forgotten how to breathe. Either having seen enough or noticing her indignation, Al stepped back a couple of steps.

- If you're lying to me, I’ll find it out in a few minutes. - concluded the mentor.

- What? What are you talking about? - Daphne asked embarrassedly.

Considering the question is rhetorical, L moved a few meters away from the girl, easily waving the sleeves of her dress. A moment later, a bright glow appeared in her palm. Seeing the use of magic for the first time in her life, Daphne began to think about trying to hide in the portal from the sage. As if reading her thoughts, L directed the light in her palms at the girl. The shapeless light began to take on the faint shape of a ball and began to spin rapidly around its axis.

-Do you know that using any defeat spell can kill an ordinary person?... - L was in no hurry to explain, despite the fact that the uninitiated looked frankly scared. - However, even dark magic will not do harm to a witch or sorcerer, since the magic inside him will not allow damage to his vessel.

«Do I have the chance to escape while she is fascinated by her story? » - Daphne nervously looked around, searching for the way out. And so, when she finally got the courage to make a throw to the side, L anticipating her actions, sent the ball right in the direction of the girl. A flood of unknown force made Daphne's body fly above the ground.

- You mortals are so predictable, even if you managed to escape, you could only do this because I let you. - L squeezed her fingers a little tighter, and magical energy wrapped her arms around the girl even more. Trapped Daphne knew that she was powerless.

- Why do you need me? - She asked, almost desperate. - You already realized that I was just a useless person.

- If this was really true, you would not even be able to see the portal. However, you are here, alive and unharmed ... well, relatively. - A grin appeared on the lips of the sage. Without waiting for the girl's answer, L created another shining ball and instantly directed its strength towards the immobilized Daphne.

And then a sharp flash illuminated the top floor of the Academy. L blinded for a moment, slowly opening her eyes, getting used to the bright light. The picture she saw made her usually serious mentor smile. Daphne, shrouded in bright light, restrained the flow of magic directed at her. Her body was trembling from unusual actions, and it was clear that the girl supported the spell rather involuntarily than intentionally.

However, L, removing her spell, seemed pleased with the result. The magical radiance around Daphne disappeared, and the girl sank to the cold floor.

- Just a useless person, you are saying? - repeated L Faba, smiling. - Doesn't matter. Daphne, remember, from this day on you are my student. - with these words, the mentor went to the exit, leaving the newly-made sorceress in confusion and loneliness
