#repost • @archrefined CopenHill Energy Plant and Urban Recreation Center is a building located in Copenhagen designed by @big_builds The structure has been opened to the public as a new breed of waste-to-energy plant topped with a ski slope, hiking trail, and climbing wall, embodying the notion of hedonistic sustainability while aligning with Copenhagen’s goal of becoming the world’s first carbon-neutral city by 2025. Covering a total of a 41,000-square-metre area, the building acts as a waste-to-energy plant with an urban recreation center and environmental education hub, turning social infrastructure into an architectural landmark. The internal volumes of the power plant are determined by the precise positioning and organization of its machinery in height order, creating an efficient, sloping rooftop fit for a 9,000-square-metre ski terrain. At the top, experts can glide down the artificial ski slope with the same length as an Olympic half-pipe, test the freestyle park or try the timed slalom course, while beginners and kids practice on the lower slopes. For the four decades and more that we have all variously shared with him, he will be remembered as a colleague and friend, who was gregarious, always completely free of status, always inclusive, always exploring and looking ahead. A man of immense drive and charisma, he was equally a man of civility and integrity, dedicated to the art and science of architecture, of urbanism, the life of the city, of political commitment and positive social change. His love of people, of discussion, the sharing of views, of exploring new paths and of co-operative and creative working, was reflected in the practice he founded, and which continues to espouse and develop those ideals today. Our new project Candid-Tor is a bold intervention on a challenging site in the south of Munich which also preserves 70% of a complex of existing buildings on the site, significantly reducing the amount of embodied carbon generated by the construction of the scheme.⁠ ⁠ The standout element is the design’s two towers, each comprising four stacked blocks of varying sizes that lean towards each other – with the top-most blocks touching each other to create a “gate”. El proyecto residencial ubicado en la ciudad de Santiago alcanzará oficialmente una altura de 103.7 metros, mesura que según la organización Emporis se considera un rascacielos. Sin embargo el Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), define un rascacielos cuando el edificio sobrepasa los 150 metros de su altura arquitectónica, aunque también dice que dependerá del contexto urbano donde se emplace el edificio “no sería lo mismo llamar un edificio de 100 metros rascacielos en Nueva York, que uno de la misma altura en Lisboa”; bajo esta premisa si podríamos considerar el proyecto Halo en la categoría de rascacielos. En comparativa; la torre es casi similar en altura a Citibank “Acrópolis Center” que fue el primer edificio dominicano en sobrepasar los 100 m con sus 115 m. También estaría en el mismo rango de altura que los siguientes edificios residenciales: Punta Sur (113 m), Mar Azul (111 m), Torre Azul (108 m), Torre Uno (101 m) y Torre Da Silva 4 (100 m), todos ubicados en el Distrito Nacional. En su contexto local, sería 29 m más alta que el Monumento de Santiago y 39 m más que el actual edificio habitable más alto de la ciudad. Con su altura total arquitectónica se convertirá en el edificio más alto de la Región Norte y hará historia al ser el primer edificio habitable que sobrepase el Monumento a los Héroes de la Restauración, la actual estructura más alta de la región.
