Hey! Earlier this April, an exciting new book came out in Portuguese about the queercore music genre, written by Rui Eduardo Paes and published by Chili Com Carne. The book has illustrations and design by several different artists, including me and @astromanta. The idea was to capture some of the “zinesque”, DIY feel of queercore’s scene and artistic output, so each artist got a chapter and was free to do with it as they pleased… It was an especially cool and gratifying task researching for this one! Above, you can see some of my contributions and, if you’re curious, you can check it out and get it here. :)

Call For Submissions!

Hey you, I’m creating a zine called Miss Identity. Miss Identity is a feminist mag/whatever zine you want it to be! We are going to make this thing together. Miss Identity if for girls who feel like they don’t or can’t find an aesthetic they fit into or know who they are yet. This will be a digital zine, posted to issuu when it’s done.

Our first issue deals directly with the concept of finding yourself. I’m looking for essays,poetry, and photos to be submitted to the zine. Some topics you could write about are:

Finding Yourself

Aesthetics

Feeling confident in your own skin

Breaking the mold of society

What do you identify with?

What is something that defines you?

If you could steal someone else’s identity, like a celebrity’s, who would it be?

Have you ever been in an identity crisis? 

But please feel free to send anything in!

If we don’t get enough submissions the whole thing will be thrown out and I will just make a zine with my own work.
