hey, feel free to ignore this if it's not the kind of thing you do, but I was wondering if you have any advice for me? I've been looking through DID content and using simply plural a lot recentley because it seems comforting and It helps me organize things, but as far as I know im a singlet and fully concious of everything I do. I've kind of been thinking of it as me being a little further along the plurality spectrum than most people, but not to the point of any dissociation diagnosis other than dpdr. What it feels like in our head is almost like I was several parts at one point, but now I'm just one, more or less?? As in I can function completley fine as one person but there are some things that feel amost like remnants of plurality, like the fact that different parts of me have different roles when we talk to each other, or that I sometimes write or talk a little differently when certain topics come out, or that I act a little different in body language/how sensitive I am to misgendering/the way I talk based on the task we have to do. Using terms like "we" and regulating tasks come naturally to us, and feel right, but we still feel like just one guy at the end of the day. I don't know, I've just been feeling like I don't really have a right to be using all these resources or "pretending" when I can easily just forget the whole thing and go back to being one person whos a little confused when he does wierd things. Sorry if this is invalidating in any way! I am on no scale the same kind of patchwork of concious that plural systems are.
I wouldn’t say you’re being invalidating to anyone at all. Your journey is personal and intrinsic to you. It doesn’t say anything about anyone else’s plurality. Furthermore, plurality is a spectrum and for some, it does fluctuate between sometimes being singlet and being plural. In whatever way they define that for themselves is completely valid. And, honestly, at the end of the day - if these resources help you in anyway, no matter what it is, then that’s more than okay! It’s not the people genuinely using the resources that harm the community, it’s those using it to make a joke of other people.
That all being said, I hope everything becomes clear to you in time. You’re in a very unique position where, if it turns out you’re not plural at all, you could be a good ally to the community.
I hope this helps and have a good rest of your day!

Questioning osdd system..
We aren't sure if it is osdd we are dealing with or if it's 'mere' dpdr, but in any case, we are in a lot of denial and panic because of this. We may have just been exposed to a lot of new info too fast which causes us to suppress any ideas of having any fragments or parts. While we do feel extremely confined and kinda restricted by the idea of being a singlet, it feels a lot more 'ordinary' in that we feel more 'whole' ? This is not what we actually believe it's merely what we have internalised, especially with having possible fragments, as they are called.. wondering if we could have some tips or positivity to fight some of this doubt which is causing us a lot of stress
I think it’s good to remember a few things here. First, fragments can be just as “whole” as other members of a system. Whether they start out that way or not.
Second, having fragments isn’t necessarily a bad thing, nor does is have to mean you’re less “whole” than you’d otherwise be. Imagine a machine that’s made up of a million different parts and sections. It may look overly complicated, but all that matters is if it can do the job. For many systems, being able to assign different tasks to different members helps so that no one member is too over worked.
Thirdly, being a singlet may be seem as the norm, but systems/plurals are way more common than we often think. So, you’re not alone and not any less “normal” than any singlet.
I hope this helps!

(mild unreality warning) Hello! Could we please get some positivity? Completely okay if not, but I, a fictive from the book series Arc of the Scythe, am really struggling with current negative memories from reading my POV, and it's messing with my head. I will be alright, but we've heard plenty as to how these are pseudo memories and are fake. I'd just like some reinforcement that it happened, and my feelings towards it are valid, if okay?
Hello! I’m sorry to hear you were having a rough time with some of your memories.
I can’t tell you whether they really happened to you or not, but neither can anyone else. It’s your experience and whether or not they’re “real” memories doesn’t matter as much as the fact you do remember them and they affect you.
However, I can say I understand to some degree. I have exomemories from many of my past lives, including my most recent one before coming here. Obviously, I don’t know what kinds of memories or experiences you went through, but I sometimes find myself in a difficult spot because of trauma that I’ve gotten from past lives.
Along with this, your feelings are absolutely valid! Other people may not understand, but they can never make your feelings and emotions any less true than they are. Because, regardless whether these memories “happened or not,” your reactions to them and how you feel are undeniably real.
I hope this helps!

I don’t know exactly how to word this, but I could use some positivity. I thought I was the original host, but I’ve realized I’m not, and she’s been gone/dormant for almost a decade and a half. I’m conflicted and confused and I know that even if I could find/wake her, I wouldn’t. I feel selfish for it, but my active system mate and I have just started healing from the events that woke us up in the first place. I’m doing the best thing for our system, I think. This whole thing is just a lot to process and I don’t really know where to start.
Hey! It’s understandable that you might not want to wake someone from dormancy for a multitude of reasons.
Especially when you and your active system mate still have things you both need to work on before handling someone else and their issues as well.
There’s no clear road you should travel and no perfect solutions or answers to everything, but what matters is that you’re trying your best for your system so you can all be content and be your best selves!
I& think it sounds like your doing great so far!

I am an alter that I know my origins, and I know that I was created intentionally but I do not consider myself or identify myself as a tulpa (actually I pretty dislike that term for reasons), is there any other term for alter created intentionally but without origin in the tulpamancy?, also, Is there a word or term for systems that were created as a cope mechanism? thank you for your answer.
I know that Paromate was created as an alternative to the term “Tulpa.” There’s also Willogenic which is an alternative to “Tulpamamcy” but I’m not sure what the member term for that is (Willomate maybe?).
I believe both Willogenic and Parogenic covers any reasons for creation, including for coping, but aren’t exclusive to this or similar reasons.
Anyone else is free to add their own terms in comments and reblogs! As long as they’re inclusive terms, that is. ^^

Question, is it possible to be a system and not be able to hear your alters/access the inner world (at least remember being in the inner world)?
Yep, totally possible! Sometimes communication in systems can be hard and amnesiac barriers can be difficult. Plus, not all systems even have headspaces, only a percentage do and all of ours are different from each other.

(TW death/dormancy) Someone in our system recently passed away... We think he might have just gone dormant (whether permanently or not we don't know) but we experienced it inside as an actual violent death and it was deeply hurtful to some of our members, especially one specific member who was very close to him. It has been devastating to all of us but we don't know what to do since no one irl knows we're a system and we don't feel comfy in most traumagenic spaces... positivity/advice for us?
Good evening! I’m sorry to hear something like that happened to a member of yours. I& offer my& condolences.
I’m not sure what type of advice to give, but I& hope things are looking up now (as I’m sure this was sent in a while ago).
Getting over the lost of a loved one, whether in system or outside the system is always rough and we all deal with it differently. If it were us, we’d probably make somethings in headspace to dedicate to them in someway. Maybe we’d put on some happy music and remember the good times. Whatever works for your system, I hope you’ve had the time to put towards doing such things!
I& hope they aren’t gone permanently, but know that things will be okay even if they are.

nevermind ghngnh i just remembered a key aspect of osdd and did is the alters fronting sorry im very tired, you can ignore my messages (im the psychotic person who feels like two people) so if my head-voice doesnt front at all that means its just an internal hallucination from psychosis i believe, sorry for sending so many messages hgnn
(Saw this after answering the other asks).
Not all systems have members who can front, actually! Either way, I hope you’re able to figure things out for sure!

okay wait im the person who just sent an ask about feeling like two people, i just remembered every once in a while i kinda have someone else in my head talk? like i have someone else in there thinking their own thoughts (and they are MEAN) but im not sure if its like... an alter or a psychosis-head-voice,, how do you tell the difference? how do people tell if they have psychosis and are hearing a voice in their head or if they have osdd and its an alter talking??
I’m not exactly sure how to phrase it really. Well, I& can tell we’re a system because we have an expansive headspace and can interact with each other. Not all systems are like this though and they all have their own ways of figuring that out. For us, it’s just something we sort of know. Like, I (Minister Tom) know when another system member is talking to me vs my own intrusive thoughts because the latter is often phrased to me like I’m thinking that about myself. As if I’m telling myself these things. When it’s another member of the system, I know it’s them because the experience is different and it’s usually easy for me to tell “oh hey that’s Nixe speaking!” I know it’s not exactly a clear cut answer, but I hope it helps!

hey i have kind of a uh, weird question, but im not sure where else to ask, so.... i dont think im a system but i feel like im two people but also one person? ive always felt like i was a twin and like i was two people but fused together into one in the womb, i dont have like an alter who i talk to or anything i just kinda feel like im two halves of two people fused into one person, so i was just wondering if this is anything you've heard about or if its a delusion (i have psychosis) or what
Well, there’s always median systems, which I believe are or can be similar to this in a way! Obviously, I can’t see into your mind or anything so I can’t tell you exactly what it is you’re experiencing, but looking into median systems might help. Either by ruling it out or seeing how some median experiences might overlap with yours. I hope this helps and good luck!

Do you have any tips on giving up the front because all of my headmates are all very sentient and very pissed off that none of us know how to switch control of the body so it's just ME 24/7 not taking care of it when depressive episodes hit and by god they are getting frequent
The way I (Minister Tom) achieved giving up front was by creating an autopilot of sorts. It was meant to just make the front control panel able to take care of the body without me there but ended up becoming sentient.
However, we have an intensive and detailed headspace and work very spiritual and metaphysically. Therefore, that might not be the most helpful for many systems.
I’ll be asking and looking around for some resources and post any I come across that seem helpful and not overly exclusive in anyway!

Is there any way to sort of "coax" a headmate out of dormancy?
I’m not sure in all fairness. We have a couple members here who can “wake up” members from dormancy at their leisure, but not all systems have anyone like this. I suppose you can always try to surround yourself(es) with all their favourite things and see if that works.
Sorry that this isn’t very helpful.

Any advice you'd give to a stressed out questioning system? I have a headmate but he's been dormant for a while and I worry I might be accused of faking it because of this. I'm seeking guidance from my therapist (and from her guidance my psych too), and I'm just not sure what to do or what to think. Sorry if this is sort of weird or out of nowhere, I just need some general advice, I guess? I worry I'm invalid because I don't know my systems origin
Unfortunately, I’m not sure how to help dormant members, but just know that origins aren’t everything! What’s far more important is working with your system and getting to a place where you can all be happy.
Origins don’t say anything about a system itself, it’s just the formation. It’s not the end all be all of system validity.
Hope this helps!

Alright update,, I finally got in contact with other systems and I think I might be a median system so that's pretty epic. Sorry for sending all these asks XD - (no longer quite as) confused anon
This is so late (we’re getting to the backlog of asks). But, I’m glad you were able to figure it out in the end!

Hey. Don't support The Crowded Room. I don't care if Tom Holland is involved or not, Dissociative Identity Disorder (otherwise known as Multiple Personality Disorder, although that's an old diagnosis that doesn't even exist anymore) is a highly stigmitised mental disorder that is heavily linked to trauma, and media villianising the disorder is extremely harmful for systems everywhere. Don't give it your attention, don't give it your money. We do not need another Split.
Edit: Singlets (non-systems) have no right to talk over me, a system, here. Doing that will result in being blocked. You all may interact, but don't comment on it

Hey!! I just made something called The Plural Code, which was inspired a lot by the multiple code/MuC. I wanted to make something similar, but more simplified, and with emojis :3
Feel free to spread this around! :D
