Hi all! My artwork “New Perspectives” is up for auction in the 14th Annual UPwithART fundraiser supporting Unity Project London and Museum London here in Ontario!
You can view this piece in-person at the Museum's exhibition from April 26 to May 3 – free admission. Save the date for the arty-party on May 4 and get your tickets and/or donate now at UPwithART.ca !
This event will help support the unhoused members of our community access shelter and move to permanent housing as quickly as possible. Support would mean a lot for this cause. :)

Hi people with chronic dandruff, psoriasis, eczema or any other skin conditions which cause dryness and flaking. I hope you’re having nice, low pain or pain free days. Know that you don’t have to access treatment you don’t want or that doesn’t benefit you for the sake of other people’s comfort. You are amazing.

fairy shrimp and clam shrimp have specialized diets and small mouths so it's funny that with the triops I can literally just hand them food objects straight from the kitchen like a parrot

some of y'all need to learn how to accept hospitality. stop assuming people are only offering to look after you out of twisted obligation that they don't actually want to do. when you assume that, you are often denying someone the opportunity to genuinely show a friend or stranger love. even if you don't really care about what they're offering, it's respectful of their desire to be kind to accept it anyways.
i had a bunch of girls i've never met over for a women's group. every single one of them denied my offer to make them tea (despite already making myself a mug anyways), get them water, a scone, etc.
i can tell when people refuse to let me be a good host because they "don't want to be a bother". like no!! please be a bother!!! i want to serve you and make you comfortable in my home!
not to be like "we live in a society" but really do live in a modern culture than emphasizes individualism to the point where people will reflexively deny any help or kindness from others for fear of treading on their independence. newsflash: dependence on each other is what makes a community. next time someone offers you kindness, accept it instead of making excuses for why you don't need it. otherwise you've robbed both yourself of being loved and someone else from showing love.

the phrase ‘this is my first time being alive’ has done wonders for me recently. Yeah, I don’t know how to navigate this situation! It’s brand new to me and I’m learning on the fly, aren’t humans such wonderfully adaptive creatures?

unironically love the phrase “but I’m being so brave about it” because truly, like, what other choice do we have in this wretched existence? what a beautiful way to remind yourself to keep going, even if only out of spite

im not able to diy much because it takes a lot of energy, but something i found through experience is that tablecloths are really versatile. i like to buy them from thrift shops and pop ups around halloween. they're big enough to make long skirts and shawls, and if you get the right fabrics, they can be used easily for patches. same with thin blankets or thick bedsheets, you really just have to get creative. and its much cheaper than buying fabric from a craft store.

I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but intrusive thoughts are basically your brain’s (sometimes very upsetting) way of saying “If there were two guys on the moon and one of them killed the other with a rock would that be fucked up or what?”
I’ve personally found that adding the “would that be fucked or what?” part in myself really helps put the more disturbing thoughts we sometimes get into perspective. Helps me say “yeah thar sure would be fucked up” and move on with my day.
It’s not a secret desire, it’s not something that only occurs to you because you’re a bad person. It’s just your brain deciding to process the fact that it knows an uncomfortable thing exists in the world by feeding it to you in an absurd “what if” with you as the main character.

[ID: a symmetrical illustration of a red, orange, and yellow moth with colorful patterned wings. It is on a mottled blue and green background with stylized leaves. End.]
Atlas moth. After their metamorphosis, the adult moths have no functional mouthparts - they search for a mate, lay their eggs, and die within around two weeks.

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged or liked something from you.
My friends and loved ones.
Warm sunny days.
Getting to discuss and talk about things I’m interested in.
Watching my friends grow as people and achieve wonderful things (I’m so proud of them for all of it, the large and the small).
Being part of old communal human activities like singing and dancing, cooking together, taking care of children, making art, sitting together.

Recently (relatively) I got into a QPR situation with a friend and it has helped me realise how fuzzy and dumb the rules around sex, intimacy and relationships are when we’re raised
Like, the rule that you can’t kiss people you aren’t romantically interested in, or really, involved with romantically? Why? Kissing is fun for me, and my friend, why can’t we?
Putting aside the redundancy of labelling specific forms of intimacy as platonic, romantic or sexual, I genuinely think that people being more able to have sexual and romantic intimacy in platonic relationships openly and being given the same respect as people in romantic relationships would be a benefit to literally everyone

There was a free event on my college campus to paint tiny terracotta pots. Tomorrow there will be succulents to put in them. I stood at a table with total strangers from around the world sharing in the very human act of creating art. Everyone there was happy.
A man from Saudi Arabia taught me how to make the paint smooth. He was painting a tiny purple pot that matched his purple shirt. It’s his favorite color. I passed those tips on to a woman from Malaysia. She told me she liked the flowers on my pot. It’s blue and matches my blue shirt- because blue is my favorite color.
This is what humans are. Everything else is just obstruction.
