In case you gals haven't noticed, positivityforlesbians isn't an advice blog anymore. Since a few weeks ago - and it's not decided if this is for the long run or just momentary - this blog will focus on positivity as I cannot find the time anymore to answer all the questions I've received. I may answer the ones still numerous in my askbox but it's uncertain, as I have so many of them while having difficulty both answering to everyone in details (I cannot do otherwise), with little time on my hands, and encountering people who clearly don't understand that lesbians are solely attracted to the same sex. Right now the lesbian community needs positivity more than anything, to be understood, to find community. Positivityforlesbians have been and will stay a safe space for us all as lesbians and I want you to know that, in case you feel alone and in despair.
If you really urgently need advices, like searching for community with other lesbians or because you are in a very dark place mentally, positivityforlesbians' direct messages are still an option, as long I'm available, and of course you can send positive messages in the usual askbox. Life can sometimes make it difficult to have the same level of involvement in projects you had and spaces you were active in, but know that this is a simple change and absolutely not the end of this blog that I know has played an important part in the journey of many followers towards acceptance, lesbian community, activism, and even love. We continue this journey together. Sending you all my affection, stay strong and stay together, always. 💕 💕

Tbh young lesbians need to know that there are women who have never dated men and have exclusively dated women their entire lives. There are women who have never had sex with men and never experimented with men. There are women who have known that they were lesbians for their entire lives and have never doubted that. It’s so important to hear these voices in a world where heterosexuality seems inescapable for so many young women.

idk if others feel the same way but I love the term "butch bait" because it feels like such an open acknowledgment of the fact that so many butches feel predatory for their attraction, especially if that attraction is explicitly sexual and not just softly romantic, and most importantly it's a gesture that seeks to transform rather than reduce feelings of being a predator. like, yeah, being assured that we're not scary or monsters for having sexual desires is nice, but it doesn't work if we're not willing to believe it. "Butch bait" says "I want all of you, including the claws and the teeth and all the other parts of you that you think are scary" and I think that's something every butch deserves to hear

This pride month and every other pride months everyone needs to realise that LGBT people aren’t functioning as a hive mind and aren’t a monolith. If someone who is same-sex attracted or identifies as trans doesn’t have the same political opinions as yours or doesn’t exactly think like you it doesn’t make them any less LGBT. This is what everyone needs to understand instead of pretending we are anything else than LGBT, that some of us in the community do not belong at pride, that they should be excluded, etc. This is a celebration of love, of the fact that same-sex attraction is beautiful as it is, that we are normal and deserving of respect just like anybody else, and no matter how much I dislike, say, conservative people, LGBTs who are conservative are still LGBTs and still have their place at pride. This is how it works and how it has always worked. We are not making a choice being same-sex attracted, it’s not political in itself, it’s simply who we are and it’s unchangeable. 🌈

Incredible how some people nowadays will act as if they’re progressive all the while thinking “love is love” or “gay is good” are not slogans enough worthy nowadays. These are basic yes, but still needed. Not everyone lives in a big city with completely positive friends and family around them. Not everyone is yet fully accepting their own homosexuality or bisexuality and when that is the case then the most simple sentences of acceptance and love toward who we are are the best way to finally begin to not only love ourselves but for others to understand us. ✨
LOVE IS LOVE. 💖
GAY IS GOOD. 💖

Never stop fighting lesbophobia, no matter how it presents itself. And within our community we should find peace, sisterhood, love, mutual understanding. It’s there, always has been there. Happy Pride gaydies ! 😊💖🌈
Pride month starts in a couple of days and as we're well aware for the past 6 years or so it's been absolutely abysmal for lesbians on here so before it officially starts I want to wish all of my beloved lesbian mutuals and followers a happy pride month I love all of you!!

Almost Pride Month and it's so obvious how corporations push the "progressive" pride flag on us all, as if the rainbow pride flag was not progressive already. It's not normal to impose on our community something that we never asked for, it really isn't. It doesn't feel natural because it's not, it feels cold and distant, "corporate" is the word. The fact that there's in it a black stripe to represent the past present and future impact of AIDS is deranging and not quite talked about either. As if those who died from it were excluded from the pride flag. The arrow pointing to the right to symbolise the work there is still to do when it comes to progress is metaphorically not intelligent either since it's the imagery of the rainbow that's losing ground in the whole design.
Remember even if you personally like that flag that the way brands and companies use this very recent design is so they can better sell us their products, their insurances, etc. It's not about listening to us or making us feel good. It's implying that the pride flag has something inherently problematic to it, it gives negative implications to it retroactively, which will never be tolerable. The pride flag had unanimous praise, was accepted and loved by everyone in the community because it made us all feel seen, it wasn't made after a city (Philadelphia) ordered an artist to design a "more progressive flag", there's a history behind it. It's okay to feel weird about the fairly new flag, it's okay if you use the pride flag instead, you're not a bigot, transphobic or racist, for that. The pride flag is already powerful, already progressive, already revolutionary, already us ! 💖💖

Why do you think you speak for all lesbians and get to dictate the "correct" definition?
If a person feels that "lesbian" is the correct definition for how they identify then guess what?
They're a lesbian! 💖
The world has enough hate right now against members of the LGBT community, ESPECIALLY trans folk, don't fight your own kin, accept everyone.
I don’t know exactly when this was sent to positivityforlesbians but no I do not “dictate the correct definition”, I simply repeat the definition and do not care to entertain recent changes just because some people would prefer it. What makes you think lesbians would let anyone disrespect our community and history ? Some realities about people just don’t fit lesbianism, for example being into penises automatically excludes them from the lesbian sexual orientation. That is not an act of rejection and hate, it’s simply knowing that someone like that just doesn’t fit the definition.

Hi! What do you think about lesbian communities that accept trans women that identify as lesbians in their community but don't accept bi women?
We have so much more in common with bi women than we do with people who as children were boys congratulated for their natural attraction to girls.

I had my first kiss this week at age 24. Sharing this to give people hope that if it doesn't happen early, it doesn't mean it won't happen ever.
Thank you for sharing this just to reassure some people who might need it, indeed there’s no time where it would be too late. 😊✨
