there’s a website where you put in two musicians/artists and it makes a playlist that slowly transitions from one musician’s style of music to the other’s
it’s really fun

I’m noticing an increase in new fic writers on AO3 who…uh…mayy not know how to format their fics correctly..so here is a quick and VERY important tip
Using a random fic of mine as example..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The left example: ✅✅✅
The right example: ❌❌❌
Idk how many times I’ve read a good fic summary and been so excited to read before clicking on it and being met with an ugly wall of text. When I see a huge text brick with zero full line breaks my eyes blur and I just siiiigh bc either I click out immediately or I grin and bear it…it’s insufferable!
If a new character speaks, you need a line break. If you notice a paragraph is becoming too large, go ahead and make a line break and/or maybe reconfigure the paragraph to flow better. I’m not a pro writer or even a huge fic writer but…please…ty…

In the absence of a clear and obvious angle to attack Bushnell’s protest, most likely due to his status as a serviceman that would make outright insulting him or suppressing the news itself scandalous, discussions on Western shores have now taken on the familiar framing of mental illness. In Time Magazine’s write-up of Bushnell’s death, the article finishes with a link to the suicide hotline, and asks readers to contact mental health providers if they are experiencing a “crisis.” Mark Joseph Stern, a writer at Slate, seemingly unasked, also wrote on Twitter/X:
“I strongly oppose valorizing any form of suicide as a noble, principled, or legitimate form of political protest. People suffering mental illness deserve empathy and respect, but it is wildly irresponsible to praise them for using a political justification to take their own life.”
Conviction does not exist to the American. To be willing to die in a selfless act for what they believe in only exists for those outside America's sphere of influence. Many will recall reporting on those who self-immolated in protest in Iran and in Russia for instance where this sort of approach, unwilling to engage with the root of its cause, would not even be entertained, let alone written and published with sincerity. The Arab Spring began with a self-immolation. The self-immolation of Buddhist monks in protest of South Vietnam’s persecution became defining images of the war and its corruption. Within America’s walls however, there is a belief, unspoken and ingrained from birth, that democracy allows for everyone’s voices to be heard and that its representatives are inherently inclined to respond to the people and their widespread wishes.
Desperation at inaction or complicity in terror and atrocity need not apply. Everyone incensed by their government to such an extent must simply have something wrong with them. To be able to go about one’s day knowing that children are screaming from the hunger that is eating their insides and that pregnant women are eating bread made from animal feed, and that the United States is supporting Israel’s creation of this famine, is apparently the real sign of well-adjustment.
Seamus Malekafzali, “The Words Burned Through His Throat: The Sacrifice of Aaron Bushnell,” February 26, 2024.

does hayko/has he ever tried to fight back when nick's hurting him? if so, how does it typically go for him?
Hmm, unfortunately the first few instances Did Not Go Well for him. It typically just made Nick more joyous about hurting him tbh. He would put in his self-defence training, bite, scratch, etc. and the few odd times Nick manhandled him ended up as full-blown brawls. But in recent months, Hayko hasn't really had a reason to fight him off (except of course, the running away arc which-)

i think it would be hilarious combining original highschool nick and hayko with cartel nick and hayko.
i went to school with this guy and he gave me a sexual awakening in the most uncomfortable way possible. i ended up being his parole officer. he kidnapped me and now we're in love kind of.
not to mention all the potential for cute little domestic moments; reminding each other of highschool bullshit, looking at old yearbooks..... the possibilities are endless and it deserves its own au in my heart
Anon... don't do this to me. (It's too late, I'm probably going to write this AU at some point after finishing Original Sin because it has so much potential.)
Also "sexual awakening in the most uncomfortable way possible" should be the new summary for the story. That's literally it. Nick is a weird creepy dude who reads a lot and gives Hayko an awakening with his weird creepiness.
But now I'm imagining them meeting again in a universe where they don't see each other after high school. Nick being like 'omg the jumpy little gay dude from my high school that I tormented' and Hayko being like 'oh cool, my high school crush and tormentor is a murderer now. epic'.

Happy New Year, folks! So, this may come as a surprise, but Hayko and Nick were, in my angsty high-school brain, originally horrible no-good highschoolers. I’ve decided to put it together as a full story and the first two chapters are up now, if you’re interested! New year, new self-indulgent fiction, etc.
Chapters: 2/30 Fandom: Original Work Rating: Mature Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence Relationships: Nick Sinclair/Hayko Grigorian Characters: Nick Sinclair, Hayko Grigorian, Vladimir Smirnov, Harvey Aldridge-Law, Nadia Martin, Emir Suleiman Additional Tags: Enemies to Lovers, High School, LGBTQ Themes, Religious Conflict, Religious Imagery & Symbolism, Homophobia, Psychopath In Love, Enemies to Friends to Lovers, Cultural Differences, Slow Burn, Eventual Smut
Hayko Grigorian is a pious, high-strung, and high-flying pillar of his community. He's also a brooding teenager in the closet.
Nick Sinclair is a privileged sadist, stricken by his suffering, and thinks he could be more.
