This hoodie designed by Eduardo Recife was sold at shows during the Nothing Rhymes With Circus tour. It wasn't added to FBR's webstore afterwards. Instead, there was a custom cut/sewn limited edition version available on the webstore after the tour ended that looked like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Only 500 of those were made, so it's more rare than the striped one that's currently reselling on ebay for like $400–600. Speaking of that striped one... that was a similar situation where there was one version of the hoodie for sale during a tour, which then "inspired" a new/different version that got added to the webstore after the tour ended. So here's the version that was for sale at the Honda Civic Tour:
Tumblr media
And then here's the custom printed webstore version that looked like it got coffee spilled on it (jk):
Tumblr media
similar, but still different.

forever obsessed with this musical.
update: you can listen to it on Forgive Durden's youtube channel! Brendon was only in that. This musical sadly didn’t get the type of live production it deserved.

… just in case you want to pretend it’s 2006 and put Brendon in a bunch of ugly clothes he (mostly) never even wore.
here’s the earlier version too because one is clearly not enough

BLESS THE P!ATD FAN WHO WORKED ON THE LORAX:
Ok so everyone knows how the Onceler looks like Ryan Ross (I am not typing “Once-ler” that looks dumb sorry) but I swear this will never get old. I watched The Lorax again last night and neeeeed to break this down even further because WHOEVER WORKED ON CHARACTER DESIGN WAS THE ACTUAL BIGGEST PANIC! AT THE DISCO FAN. IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY. So bear with me through this recap I just spent a whole quarantined day editing…
let’s start with Brendon – not only does Ted’s character wear the same striped red shirt that Brendon wore a ton in 2008, but he also has dark jeans and the same exact shoes as well:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And fine, maybe that’s a coincidence. But then look at Ted’s one other outfit change:
Tumblr media
EXCUSE YOU WAHT
Tumblr media
Brendon’s pants on the right did have pinstripes as well, promise. And I know lots of other stuff could be a coincidence (like how Ted’s crush is named AUDREY of all things) so I’ll just move onto the Onceler Ryan Ross…
So Ryan was really well known for his stage makeup, right?
Tumblr media
The red stripe was arguably his most iconic look. And THIS IS THE ONCELER’S ACTUAL INTRO that crossfades into his memory of the past:
Tumblr media
I’m sorry but that is iNTENTIONAL.
Tumblr media
Ryan was also pretty well known for wearing endless combinations of vests, scarves, and that dang hat during 2008. I won’t go through every basic Onceler outfit comparison since those have been done so many times, but here’s my recap of Ryan’s general style:
Tumblr media
…and then we get this guitar-playing Onceler who’s even wearing the same kind of pointy shoes?
Tumblr media
side note: the Onceler’s guitar looks like they maybe took the surf green stratocaster most people associate with 2008 Ryan and made it the color of the guitar he played at some other shows in 2007/08 like the VMAs & Stubb’s BBQ? but idk – dude had a ton of guitars and I suppose it doesn’t really matter.
Tumblr media
They even have the same Jack Skellington “beanpole” build (the lorax’s word – not mine):
Tumblr media
And not only are the outfits below scarily similar, but the actual layout of the shots also feels too close to be a coincidence:
Tumblr media
I mean, look at the background staging with the square shape behind both of them, the vertical trees or poles, the line the shelf makes, the general angle of the room, and so many other blocks of color and shapes. Even the cuffs on their sleeves and the darker bands on their hats are the same.
Aaaand now I’m not saying Ryan invented scarves or anything, but that is a very memorable look of his:
Tumblr media
sure, the sunglasses could be a coincidence…
Tumblr media
and maybe the pink floral apron wasn’t a nod to one of Ryan’s better-known late 2008 stage outfits:
Tumblr media
update: this part felt more like I was reaching too hard because Ryan didn’t wear these pants as much, but who knows – maybe it still served as inspiration for that curtain lol…
Tumblr media
BUT. what about the Onceler outfit everyone seems to know best? this one…
Tumblr media
THAT GREEN GENTLEMAN.
!!!   he’s even wearing black slacks with accentuating off-white pinstripes. (everything goes according to plan, I’m the new cancer, never looked better…) ok honestly the lyrics for That Green Gentleman could also fit the Onceler’s story if you try hard enough.
So, no, this outfit isn’t a direct reference to anything specific Ryan ever wore (although the shoulders, chain, & striped tie feel like a blend of some of his Fever-era styles). But I think it does feel like that iconic look Brendon wore in the IWSNT music video where he played a character who was essentially the groom’s alter ego or subconscious.
Tumblr media
…and that groom is technically Ryan if you know the story behind the lyrics he wrote. (Also, in the Fever era Brendon was sometimes seen as Ryan’s puppet/alter ego onstage, so the imagery is there).
So to sum that up: at this specific point in the movie’s plot the Onceler is dressed in an outfit that’s a mix of a song Ryan wrote about changing + a visual reference to being RYAN’S ALTER EGO.
Tumblr media
Fine, fine. Maybe I’m reading too far into everything. But as long as I’m grasping at straws for connections to Panic! at the Disco song names, let me present:
Tumblr media
MAD AS RABBITS! ha.
Ok there are other things I wanted to turn into connections, buuut I’ll stop before this goes too far into conspiracy theory mode. I just wanted to gather all of this into a single post for once so I could officially say that the sneaky Panic! at the Disco fan who worked for Universal is totally my hero…

again, the fandom was just having fun in 2008... Ryden was not meant to be taken so seriously.

Tumblr glitched while I was trying to answer this, but thankfully I took a screenshot of everything before refreshing because I legit cannot find that draft or question anywhere now, sorry. So here we go again...
I'll link to the post here. (btw any annoyance that might seep into my tone in my recent answers is NOT directed at the actual people asking... y'all are lovely). So that post is done in a very similar tone to the Ryden primers that the pre-split fandom posted, but I'm getting the sense that this is very very different... like that person seems to actually believe the content that they're posting is straight up facts (and even if they don't, the fact that you're referring to it as "infamous" probably implies that other people are at least treating it as real facts, so I'm still going to address it like the tone is serious). Here's an explanation of how the majority of the fandom used to view Ryden.
A lot of their pictures no longer show up, so I'm going to leave a wayback screen recording here for reference:
I'll just comment as I go through it if I have something to add:
I suppose that the tone of someone's comments is open to interpretation, so idc as much about whether those are misread or not.
That supposed AIM convo was shared as a myspace bulletin by Brent's brother Blake during the summer 2006 season when he was trying to stir up shit and was busy posting other inaccurate info too. I'm just saying to take it with a grain of salt.
Ryan’s lj post on 9/27/05 was about the release of AFYCSO that day. He talked a lot in interviews that season about how it was weird for him to see so many fans singing his lyrics back to him.
uhh most of the pictures that this person lists "from this era" of 2004/2005 are actually from 2006. so they definitely know what they're talking about here lol.
they list one of Ryan's livejournal posts and then say "I'm not sure of the exact date, but I know it was some time in 06." It was from June 24, 2006.
lol Audrey.
re: the Myrtle Beach theory
why is the part where Ryan called Brendon a golden god in late 2006 any different than when Brendon said this about Spencer that same season?
re: the 2006 mic-sharing & stage gay
fans would positively scream when Ryan & Brendon approached each other, especially in the last half of 2006. this moment in Munich in October 2006 seemed no different... the guys absolutely knew what they were doing.
the VMA performance just seemed like Ryan was still using Brendon as a safe space to look at so he wouldn't stare at his feet or guitar, but that is still very much something you could turn into a Ryden thing so carry on haha.
about the Rolling Stone interview
I'm laughing at the "squint a little harder" comment about finding Ryden content in 2008. That is so accurate.
re: Dylan's myspace (yes, Keltie ran a myspace for Hobo that anyone could grab pics from).
Ryan absolutely sounds like he's saying dude... also that would be normal.
the picture of the bracelet is normal
I'm just going to link to this post since it addresses many similar inaccurate points about early 2009.
I was about to side eye them so hard for posting the Lana Jade letter as real, but at least they added that she made multiple posts explaining that it wasn't her. And yes, obviously Brendon's best friend was Shane (not Ryan).
omg Ryan's tattoos are not about Brendon. Those are Tom Waits lyrics. Ryan was good friends with Thomas Dutton. About a year before getting the tattoos, Ryan was hanging out with him on tour in the UK and later told Kerrang that “a friend of mine in Forgive Durden turned me on to Tom Waits when we were in the UK… I’ve been listening to him ever since. His voice is so rough and dark. I’d never really heard anything like that.”
the sharing beds idea was misunderstood in the Billboard interview... all 4 guys slept on bunkbeds in the same room when they were recording AFYCSO. That's what Brendon's referring to.
re: the Bishop Gorman tshirt… Ryan was hardly that size in high school. But Brent went to Bishop Gorman too (and so did Paulina, who was also friends with Brendon). Brendon did borrow some of Brent’s stuff in 2004/2005 (like money for food while they were first touring). Just saying… it's def interesting, but it’s not an automatic Ryden connection.
I didn't read Spencer's tone in that out.com interview the same way... there's some relevant bits in this post.

here's my general tag for Ryden stuff

the sun/moon theory doesn’t actually make sense
The pictures above are from 9/23/06, which was the only time that Ryan wore blue makeup at the same time that Brendon wore yellow makeup. The guys weren’t the ones who came up with their look, either. That makeup came from Pieter M van Hattem’s heavily styled photoshoot earlier that day and then the band wore the leftover makeup to the Boost Mobile RockCorps performance.
Now fast forward almost a year to when they were working on Pretty. Odd. songs...
The Pretty. Odd. lyrics had a lot of weather references because the band wrote most of the album while sitting in Ryan’s backyard on drugs and looking at clouds or whatever you see at night in the desert. Brendon told the Boston Globe that “I’m sure if the weather was really horrible, [the new album] might’ve sounded different. It definitely needed to be what it was for us to write those songs.” Brendon also said:
“We spent a lot of time outside when we were writing the record. We wrote it in the hottest month of the year in Las Vegas. We had a weird sleeping schedule, too. We pretty much stayed up all night and slept during the day just because it is so hot there. So we spent a lot of time looking at the stars and enjoying and experiencing the weather so I think that had a very direct influence on us.”
Then weather and clouds and nature became part of the Pretty. Odd. era’s early theme that the band talked about (also look at the custom car they designed, or the set design for the Honda Civic Tour where Ryan said they wanted to make it feel like the show was happening outdoors). Flowers, weather, the sun & moon, and nature in general were part of that era because that’s what influenced the band while they were writing the songs (and also Jon Walker exists lol. he had a major influence on that album). A big theme with their songwriting in summer 2007 was to keep things simple & lighthearted.
WTDMTN was one of the early songs that they wrote that summer (the band played it for the first time on August 5th). Their interviews made it sound like the guys just watched night meet day a lot that summer, took some drugs, and wrote a cute story. Jon seemed so happy with that song’s fairy tale quality too! He said “We had this idea that the day and the night met each other… it’s basically a fairytale story about two times a day falling in love with each other and the world being day & night at the same time consecutively somehow.” Ryan said this song was like a kid’s story. He had also spent over half a year working on the cabin album’s fairytale-esque storyline (with Spencer’s help) and it had become so elaborate that he was considering writing an accompanying book. Just because they scrapped the cabin album and majorly switched directions for their second album doesn’t mean they lost all of their previous interests... it made sense that they might still gravitate towards a fairy-tale quality a bit.
I think the idea that anything on Pretty. Odd. could actually have some Ryden subtext comes from people who weren’t closely observing the season when the band wrote those lyrics. Brendon & Ryan were not that close in the last half of 2007. Ryan was way better friends with Jon by that summer... they talked about living together, watching movies or writing songs together in the middle of the night, going bowling or to see movies, etc. They were definitely close. There were pictures of them hanging out offstage. Ryan hung out with a lot of other Vegas friends throughout 2007 too. Meanwhile, Brendon talked about hanging out with Spencer and Shane that fall. Brendon & Ryan were together when they had to do band-related events (but even a few of those moments showed a shifting dynamic between the two guys). The guys were definitely still friends! But it’s a stretch when you try to paint a picture where they were in love & obsessed with each other this season to the point of writing lyrics about each other.
The only part of all the sun/moon conspiracy stuff that even slightly works is the idea that Jon Walker might have used the reference as a code in his post-split lyrics to get his own point across (ex: then his lyrics would imply that he doesn’t need Ryan & Brendon to tell him what to do). That doesn’t mean anything beyond the fact that Jon had always been super aware of what the fandom was saying and knew how to communicate on our level. Seriously, he followed the talk online in 2006-2007 SO closely and would even leave subtle references in his journal entries to things the fandom was talking about. Sometimes he was just messing with us (example at the bottom of this post). Some fans had actual “hi Jon” icons on lj towards the end of the Fever era because most people knew he was watching. In October 2006 the PATD livejournal got set to private for a short time and Jon posted on the band’s website “whats with the live journal being down, someone fix it :(” because now he couldn’t properly creep on that particular fan community while the band was on tour lol.
Tumblr media
He shared SO much of his photography with fans (including in the band’s album and his picturesatthedisco photobucket) and was just way more involved with us than the other 3 guys. So any sun/moon reference that Jon might have made in his own lyrics later on doesn’t exactly prove anything about the whole Ryden sun/moon conspiracy. It only proves that Jon was still in touch with his fanbase and could use their references.

I loved how 2006 ended with intense levels of fame, touring, & media attention for P!ATD and then Spencer & Jon proceeded to do very normal things with their girlfriends in spring 2007.

omg hi its me again sooo, i was looking thru ur old posts (specifically this https://www.tumblr.com/prettyoddfever/642133017465389056/the-early-panic-nicknames) and I just wanted to ask if u remember the reasoning of why fans used to call Spencer "Grandpa".😭😭😭 was there like some fan lore or smth? Bc as far as I know he was the youngest, so i know it wasn't an age thing
lol ok I feel like I need to explain a few factors first...
the fandom was really bored in early 2007 because we were used to literally nonstop news & events for the whole Fever era. Everything kept escalating and then it just abruptly stopped.
Panic's main fan base in the last half of the Fevera era was seriously obnoxious online.
Fans did occasional dumb edits on Wikipedia in 2006 to entertain themselves, but it really escalated into a group effort around the start of February 2007. The spam edits got to the point where all of the band member’s Wikipedia pages became locked/protected… you couldn’t make an edit if you didn’t have an account or if your account had been created recently. Here’s a separate post with some of the screenshots.
So basically, one girl made a Wikipedia edit that said Spencer is her grandpa. That's literally it. That's where the nickname came from. People started repeating "Spencer is my grandpa" like an inside joke and making grandpa jokes & variations of the nickname. And it sort of just took on a life of its own.
