When Bruno, Pepa, and Julieta were younger, after Bruno got his gift, he used to dip into all sorts of future-seeing acts - horoscopes, tarot cards, and palm readings of all kinds of cultural backgrounds. He would give his sisters readings at every chance he could, as the three of them had fun while doing so. It was a lovely way to bond.
Years later - today - they are brought back together in Casita's living room, reminiscing of those days. Sharing all of their fondest memories and their favorites of Bruno's predictions.
Though Pepa and Julieta had no future-seer, third-eye-open abilities, they'd always been interested in the little rituals Bruno did. It seemed like something they could do as well. If they so pleased, they could study his decks of tarot cards or the lines of his hand.
Which brings us to where we are now.
Bruno, Pepa, and Julieta were sitting on the floor facing each other, Bruno leaning up against the wall comfortably. The topic of predictions had come up, and they ran with the conversation of Bruno's past of readings.
"You should teach us how to read palms," Julieta said. "How often do you let someone else predict your future?"
"Heh. Not too often. Not at all, actually," Bruno said. "Yeah, I could teach you the basics. It's pretty easy to grasp."
Pepa and Julieta gave their attention to their brother-turned-teacher as he rubbed his hands together in preparation.
"So, to start, look at your hands." To demonstrate, Bruno held out one of his hands facing up. Pepa and Julieta followed suit, holding out their hands and watching as he point at his own. "The shape of your hands can give you a look into your personality. Your personality type corresponds with an element. Like, I have what are called "air hands" because my palms are short and my fingers are long."
He took one of Pepa's hands. "And yours?" He studied it for a moment. "Both your fingers and palms are long and narrow, so you have water hands. This means you tend to be creative, emotional, and perceptive." He smiled as he saw Pepa's face light up with recognition.
"That does sound like you!" Julieta agreed. She looked back to her own hand, observing the shape. "My palms are long and I have short fingers. What does that mean for me?"
"You have fire hands. You're extroverted, bold, and optimistic," Bruno said. Julieta nodded attentively.
"This is a little like astrology, is it?" she asked.
"Uhh... well, not quite. Think of it more like a tarot reading," Bruno said, "except you're the cards. Astrology and palm reading both have something to do with the elements, but they aren't exactly connected."
"Ah, okay," Julieta said. She glanced to Pepa, who was waiting eagerly for Bruno to continue.
Pepa reached over to take Bruno's left hand, holding it palm up in her own hand. "Now. How do you start to actually read a palm?"
Julieta scooted in a little bit closer as Bruno began to explain. "It's all in the lines. There's four main lines: life, heart, head, and fate. The heart line is the prominent line near the top."
"This one?" Pepa used her free hand to lightly trace a finger along the mentioned line in Bruno's palm. Immediately, he snatched his hand away.
Both Julieta and Pepa looked up at Bruno in confusion, and their expression was met with a look of shock from the latter. He was holding his hand in a fist close to his chest. The three of them sat in silence for a few moments before it was broken by Pepa.
"Could I have that back, please?"
"Uh! Yes! Yeah, of course!" Trying not to appear too hesitant, Bruno thrusted his hand back out into Pepa's, letting her take hold of it again. He was avoiding eye contact, meaning he missed the knowing look that his sisters shared. "J-Just um... Actually nevermind don't worry about it. Anyway-"
"What does this line tell you, Bruno?" Pepa traced a fingertip along the line just below the heart line. Bruno's fingers twitched, but he kept his hand in place. Julieta bit back a smirk; she knew what Pepa was trying to do now.
"T-That's the- the head line," Bruno stammered. It proved to be quite difficult to focus on teaching something with that light, tingly feeling running through his hand. "I-It- it represents your brain. Yeah. Pepa, stop-"
"How about this one?" Julieta used one hand to hold the fingers of Bruno's hand open, and she dragged her fingertip along the line that curved down towards his wrist. Pepa was also gripping his hand from the back of it, successfully keeping him from yanking it away again.
"Waitwahait!" Bruno yelped, caught between trying to keep still and trying to pull away. He settled for awkwardly jerking his arm while keeping it in place. Julieta lifted her finger off of his hand, meeting his eyes with a smirk.
"What is it?" Pepa said with a chuckle. A warm, bright beam of sun shone in the background; she was enjoying herself. "We're trying to learn something here. Why are you squirming?" she teased gently.
"You're-! I'm! Not trying to!" Bruno gave Pepa and Julieta a pleading look, though judging by the mischievous smiles on each of their faces, he had a lot more coming.
"You know," Julieta hummed, "I think I actually get this now!" Her fingertips returned to Bruno's palm, skittering over the surface slowly. In response, he immediately falls into giggles, biting his lip and lowering his head.
"I think..." Julieta said, giving a wink to Pepa, who replied with a nod, "...I see lots of laughter in your future."
Bruno's head shot back up. "That's not how that- wooorksohmygod!" Without warning, Pepa had let go of his left hand to let Julieta take over. She grabbed his right hand the same way she'd been holding the left one to draw little spirals onto his palm with a fingertip. Julieta continued her skittering along the hand she was holding.
Bruno did his best to retract his hands, but each of his wrists was being held by each sister on his each of his sides. All he could do was giggle and squirm in place, even if that didn't exactly help him.
"Well, then how come Julieta was right?" Pepa grinned. "Her prophecy came true almost immediately! She's almost as good as you. How dare you laugh at her excellence?"
"Ihit tickles!"
"Oohh! It does?" Julieta said as though she was surprised. She kept her hold on Bruno's hand, using her free hand to reach forward and wiggle her fingers against his side. This drew another yelp out of him as he jumped away from her devious fingers.
"Come back here!" she giggled, her hand chasing after its spot on Bruno's side. She nudged Pepa, indicating for her to join in; she gladly took the invitation. Pepa's hand found his other side, pinching at it gently, earning a snort and another twitch away. Having a hand at each of his sides made it impossible to decide which direction to squirm in — either way he went meant tickles. He fell back against the wall, figuring his best line of action would be to sit there and take it.
"Thank you," Julieta said with a smug lilt. Her fingertips crawled along Bruno's side to his stomach. At this point, Pepa had let go of his wrist and joined her now-available hand with the other to poke rapidly at his hips. Bruno's legs and freed arm curled up reflexively, his laughs becoming just a bit more squeaky.
Pepa and Julieta shared another fond, knowing look. "You're too easy, Brunito," Julieta smiled. Through his frantic giggles he made an inquisitive, almost defensive sound. Pepa couldn't help but laugh to herself as well.
"You could be fighting," she pointed out, "but you aren't!" The observation brought a slight pink blush to his cheeks.
"Y-You aharen't gohoing to stohohap!" Bruno countered.
Pepa hummed in consideration, looking to Julieta before nodding. "You're probably right. Was that another vision of yours?"
"Nohohope!"
"Well, it's still coming true."
Bruno groaned through laughter. "Yohou're the wohohorst!"
Pepa and Julieta both gasped dramatically, Pepa retracting a hand to place over her heart. The room became noticeably darker. "The nerve you have!" she said exasperatedly. That hand returned to Bruno's hip, kneading up his side until she reached his ribs. The further she went up, the more panicked he sounded.
"Ohno- oh nononono nohohooo!" Bruno tried twisting away from the two of them, but Julieta had an arm around his shoulders, keeping him in a side hug as she fluttered her fingertips down his side. He wriggled around in her grip, but she was strong, and there was no way for him to slip out without having to get by Pepa. He dropped his head against Julieta's shoulder, burying his face into her as he squirmed weakly.
"Aw, come on," Pepa said, "don't hide, let's see that smile!"
Bruno shook his head. Pepa hmphed. She latched her fingers onto his ribs, giving a satisfied giggle at his surprised screech. He flailed, somehow managing to avoid hitting either of his sisters, which they both noticed and individually appreciated.
"You better watch what you're doing with your limbs," Julieta warned. "If either of us gets hurt, it'll only get worse~!"
"W-Wohohooorse?!"
"Worse," Pepa nodded in confirmation. "Maybe a little bit like... this?" She poked around to find Bruno's lowest rib, giving it a pinch when she found it. "Let's see... one..."
Bruno gasped. "No! Pleheeaase!"
"Yes, please!" Pepa echoed his tone. "Julieta, would you mind getting that other side for me?"
Julieta hummed. "Yes, of course." She wiggled a finger around Bruno's side to find the lowest rib on her side. Bruno kicked a leg out, being as careful as he could not to kick either of them — how could it get worse than this?
"I-I hhh-hahahave all ohof my rihihiiibs! Noho cohohounting!" he pleaded.
"There's nothing wrong with a second opinion," Pepa shrugged. She shot a smirk to Julieta. "Or a third opinion."
"Pehepahahaaaa!"
"Hmm... two, three, four..." Pepa continued counting, creeping her fingers up his ribs, much to Bruno's ticklish dismay. "How many do you have on that side, Juli?"
"I don't know, he's moving an awful lot. I haven't even gotten past the first one!" Julieta said. Bruno would have groaned had he not been in the middle of a string of squeaky, bubbly laughter. "Here's two..."
Bruno yelped as Julieta poked at his second-to-lowest rib. That seemed to be a particularly sensitive spot. He jerked away, landing himself closer to Pepa's direction.
"Oh, thank you!" she said. "I was going to ask you to move closer. You're being so helpful!"
"Threee... There's four..." Julieta kept going, counting separately from Pepa.
"Aahahahhaa-! Nononohoohahaha!"
"Bruno, stop squirming so much!" Pepa teased. Promptly, Bruno flung himself in Julieta's direction, earning an oof! and a giggle from the two of them. "I said stop squirming, not squirm more."
"Sohohorry!" he apologized, his laughs growing breathless. "Cahahan't stohop!"
Julieta gave up the rib-counting act, just digging her fingers into his upper ribs without any real pattern. Bruno let out a snort worthy of an aww.
"There's my favorite sound," Pepa cooed. "Do it again!" She joined Julieta in wiggling her fingers against his ribs, earning another snort from him. Once again, aww-worthy.
"Thank you so much, Brunito. That was adorable." Pepa looked up at Julieta, waving a hand at her to call it quits. Julieta nodded, slowing her hands until they were completely stopped. They each moved their hands to place them on his shoulders as he curled completely up.
Bruno leaned his head back against the wall, taking a moment to catch his breath. "Ahh-... You know..." he said, "...I was in the middle of trying to do something for you two there."
They each had a laugh. Pepa and Julieta moved to sit beside Bruno, leaning up against the wall as well. "We had more important matters to, shall I say, hand-le?" Julieta said.
Bruno gave her a half-hearted smile. "Good one," he deadpanned.
Julieta giggled and gave his shoulder a light shove. "You love me and we both know it."
Bruno nodded. "I can't argue with that. I love both of you." He chuckled bashfully, rubbing at the back of his neck. "And... Thanks."
"For what," Pepa grinned, "tickling you?"
Bruno nodded again.
"Well, we're more than happy to do it again whenever you'd like. You're pretty fun to tickle," Pepa said with a wink. Then, it was Bruno's turn to give her a light shove.
"Clearly. You do it so often, I kinda got that impression." Bruno glared at her, but there was no real spite behind it.
"It's not like you have a problem with it, right?" Julieta chimed in.
Bruno turned his glare from one sister to the other. Julieta smiled innocently.
"I know, I'm right," she continued, answering her own question.
"You two aren't going to get away with this," Bruno said. He shifted so he was kneeling. "In fact, you may want to start planning your escape now."
Julieta and Pepa recognized the gleam of a challenge in his eyes. They gave each other one last glance before currying to their feet and hurrying in different directions, wide smiles painting their lips.
This was going to be a fun chase.

Bruno was happy to finally be a part of the family again. He was happy to be a part of his nieces’ and nephews’ lives, which he had missed so much of.
Part of his bonding was taking days and dedicating them to one of the kids - letting them show him their favorite hobbies, music, food, games, you name it, Bruno was up for it!
On the day he spent withLuisa she taught him how to use some of the gym equipment in her room, which proved to be pretty funny, considering Bruno doesn’t have a fraction of the upper body strength of Luisa. Though he was able to do a lot of the leg exercises, thanks to the hundreds of stairs he had to climb every day in his tower
On Isabela’s day, the two spent the hours planting and harvesting from her veggie garden and helping Julieta turn the vegetables into meals. Bruno didnt have much of a green thumb, which was no problem for Isa, who could easily fix his mistakes with a flick of her wrist.
The day before today was Dolores’s day, which was spent in her room meditating, drinking tea, and just having quiet conversations.
And today, it was Mirabel’s day!
Bruno stepped out of his room and headed down the balcony hall, greeting family members as they passed by.
With a sudden thud, he collided with someone who was moving quite swiftly, going in the opposite direction.
“Oof- Oh! Good morning Mirabel!” Bruno smiled, helping his niece stand back up straight.
“Oh! Good morning tio!! I’ve been looking all around casita for you!”
“Have you?? A-am I really that late..?” Bruno swerved his head around to a nearby clock, noticing he was in fact, 15 minutes late.
“O-oh gosh! I didn’t realize it was so behind schedule!! Go on, go on, lead the way! I don’t wanna waste any more of your time!!” He spun Mirabel around and patted her shoulder, signaling her to start moving.
— — —
“Ok tio, come pick what fabric you want to use-” Mirabel gestured to the corner of her room, where a large basket stood carrying rolls of multicolored fabrics neatly wound and standing straight.
“Pick some fabric..?” Bruno asked, hesitantly walking over to the basket, still unsure of what they would be doing for the day. “Yeah!! Pick some fabric! I’m gonna teach you how to embroider today!” Mirabel swiveled around in her chair, offering her uncle a pleasant smile.
Bruno wasn’t really one for finer arts like embroidery, but he was absolutely willing to give it a go, especially if it was something his niece enjoyed. He returned Mirabel’s smile, then turned back to the basket of fabric.
Something immediately to his left caught his eye, however, and he smiled, picking up the blue fabric laid over a dresser.
“How about this one-?” Bruno walked over to the table Mirabel sat at and placed the material down in front of her.
“ My… skirt..? You want to embroider something on my skirt?” Mira couldn’t help but smile-
She had something to represent every member of the family on her skirt… all except Bruno… so why not let him make a symbol for himself?
“I-if its okay with you of course- I- uh- sorry- I can just pick a fabric scrap- I wouldnt want to ruin your skir-” Mirabel raised a hand “I’d be more than happy to let you make a pattern on my skirt!”
She took the garment from her uncle and laid it out on the table.
“Ok, come here and watch close, I’m gonna teach you how to thread the machine.” She directed as she grabbed a spool of green thread from a small box off to the side.
Bruno shuffled right up behind where Mirabel was sitting, leaning down over her shoulder to get a good look at exactly what she was going to do, and lazily resting his chin on her shoulder,
“Ok, so fihIHIRST-” Mirabel suddenly shouted, tensing up- Bruno’s eyes widened, but he stayed in place, almost frozen.
“A-are you okay?! What was that?!” he asked with a twinge of concern in his voice
The vibrations of his words made Mirabel snort and scrunch up her shoulders, dropping the thread onto the table. “Tihihihio!! yohou’re tihickling mehe!”
Bruno stood up with a puzzled look. “I- I was..?” he touched his face with his fingers, brushing over his chin. Then it clicked ‘oh- my,,, my beard-’ he thought, a smile growing on his face.
“I’m sorry Mira, I didn’t mean to! I was just trying to get a better view! See?!” Bruno resumed his position leaning on Mirabel’s shoulder. “Now go on! Go on! What’s step one?” he asked innocently.
Mirabel’s laughter restarted as every vibration of Bruno’s speech sent a ticklish wave through her body.
“I cahahan’t! Ihihi cahahan’t fohOHOCUS!!” Her laughter pitched up at the feeling of something against her side.
“Oh, my bad! There was some scrap thread on your shirt-” Bruno lied, poking at the girl’s ribs “Stop moving! I cahan’t grab ihit!”
“THEHEHERE ISN’T AHANYTHING THEHEHERE! AHAHA!” Mirabel doubled over on herself and kicked her legs under the table.
“There is! I’m sure of it! But I just can’t grab it while you’re moving!” Bruno laughed along with his niece, pretending to pick something off her shirt.
“TIHIHIO PLEHEHEASE!” Mirabel threw her head back, bubbly laughter spilling out as Bruno switched to scribbling along his niece’s sides, dropping the act, and just having fun.
It had been a long time since he was able to see Mirabel- any of his nieces and nephews- laugh like this. He felt a little closer to them every time they felt safe enough to just let go.
“I don’t remember you ever being this ticklish! Not when you were little at least-” He commented, slowing down enough to give Mirabel a chance to breathe. “I wahahasn’t! I don’t know what happened! I guess I’ve just never been tickled much since then.” She said with a slight flush on her face.
“Well I think it adds to your…whimsical-ness! Is that even a word-?” Bruno stood up and adjusted Mirabel’s glasses on her nose, to which she offered a shrug an a giggle.
“Nevermind! Let’s get this sewing lesson going!” The prophet rolled a nearby stool over to the table and sat down, hands in his lap, ready to listen.
