As someone who has been reading ShikaTema fanfiction for 18+ years, and who to this day reads it on a daily basis, I realized that I should probably make a fanfic recommendation post. I hope this is helpful to my fellow ShikaTema fans. I have read all of these multiple times over the years. I’ll be organizing them mostly based on setting/arc. Bold titles mean they are my all time favorites. I will place an M for Mature or any Explicit fics. you know what else i really like to think about??? how chouchou and shikadai get raised with two different cultures and how this affects them while growing up.

like imagine chouchou and shikadai having to explain what’s in their bento to other kids because they’re eating something that is not usually made in konoha. celebrating holidays only known in kumo and suna respectively. using slang and practicing customs unknown to konoha children, that usually leads to just some harmless questions but also sometimes teasing as well.

and they have to deal with this in kumo and suna too, when they go on vacations and interact with their family that live there. craving a dish that they cant order because the kumo chef doesnt even know what that is, let alone how to make it. how it takes kankuro and gaara a little bit to get use to shikadai’s accent and understand him the first time around. not to mention the teasing chouchou and shikadai have to endure while in kumo/suna and as well when they return to konoha and their accent is thicker for a week or two.

but also think about how their fighting style is very different from the average konoha/kumo/suna shinobi because they combined techniques. the justus they could potentially create, especially if you count in their kekkei genkai. shikadai plotting strategies that others cant even think of because he’s got the rich history of both konoha and suna backing him up. chouchou serving as an ambassador and helping to keep the political affairs between both countries running smoothly. ALL OF THE DELICIOUS FOOD, FUCK WHAT ANY PRICK HAS TO SAY ABOUT HOW IT LOOKS OR SMELLS.

Had such a fun time cosplaying one of my all time favorite characters, still feels like a dream 💜 I’ve heard people say that cosplay is “a love letter to a character” and this is truly my love letter to my QUEEN. I’ve been obsessed with Temari (+ ShikaTema) since I was 13 years old and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would cosplay her. As I was going through the photos that we took I ended up in tears, it felt surreal to see myself as my all time favorite female character. My friend also ended up cosplaying Hinata and as we were going around taking pictures through this beautiful location, it felt like we were truly them spending time together. It was a day I’ll never forget!
