PROFSYCAMORE IS CLOSING

Hey guys! I hope you all are staying safe and well. I figured it’s time to make an update post after thinking for a few months. Unfortunately I am closing giveaways for good. I thought hard about this decision and honestly I just can’t do em anymore.

I really enjoyed running this blog. I had lots of good times, I made some really good friends and I made a ton of people happy by giving out shiny Pokemon. I don’t regret it for one bit. However I can’t gen Pokemon anymore and there’s no point in moving older gen Pokemon over to give away.

When I started this blog, I was in a completely different state of mind. I was working at home and I had way more free time to run giveaways. To be honest I hated my job at the time and I was neglecting a lot of things in my life which wasn’t good. Since moving here 3 years ago, I’ve found a better job that I love, I started exercising on a regular basis, I started petsitting again and I started drawing more. Unfortunately covid messed a lot of that up but we’re slowly getting back to it.  I guess what I’m saying is that the person from when I started this blog 5 years ago is completely different than the person I am now. Even if I was able to gen on the Switch I just don’t have the free time! Which is good and bad.

I’m sad to close this blog but it’s not a decision I made lightly, and really I can’t gen anymore anyways which defeats the purpose. I know most people dropped off a long time ago so I was just dragging my heels hoping I’d change my mind or something. I won’t be deleting this blog! It’ll still remain up as an archive. It’s attached to my Pokemon sideblog anyways which I go on regularly so I’ll still be on here, just not posting or reblogging.

If any of my US mutuals or followers find themselves needing a mask for when they go out -

With it now being heavily recommend that everyone wears a mask when they go out because of COVID 19, and there being a total shortage of masks, I want to make y’all an offer -

If you’re a follower who lives in the states and needs a mask, and can pay the $2-$3 to cover shipping, I will sew and mail you a mask for free. They’re 100% cotton and will have either elastic or fabric ties (when I run out of elastic) and are made to cover the nose and under the chin, like shown below:

I have a sewing machine as well as a decent amount of spare fabric. These aren’t difficult or take a long time to make, so it’s not a big task for me. I know a lot of people (like me) are scared right now, and I want to help in any way I can.

If you have access to a sewing machine or have a basic knowledge of hand sewing, call your local Joanns craft store. They are currently offering free mask kits that contain enough fabric for 5 or so masks, thread, elastic, a pattern, and instructions to make your own masks. They will bring the kit out to you if you are outside of their store/building.

4/1/20: Hey guys! Is Wonder Trade Wednesday still a thing?! I know it’s not called Wonder Trade anymore but old habits are hard to break. Anyways until I can figure out what I wanna do for giveaways, I’ll be on Surprise Trade trading away some shiny Sylveons!

A lot of people still do giveaways but it moved mostly to Discord! the most notable I can think of is r/morebreedingdittos’s discord server. I do a lot of GA there using the gen 7 to gen 8 transfer stuff there.

naviwing: I also stopped doing giveaways and dexhelpers because so much work went into them, and next to no one participated. Super thankful for the people who did, and it was great to help! But I also had other things to do. Right now, I can't figure out for the life of me what goes on the GTS. I have no concept of what's popular and in-demand. Like, people loved Galarian Ponyta, but I've had one up for a Caterpie for three days and it went nowhere!

I don’t wanna sound like a grandma but like figuring out transfers from gens 6/7 to 8 made my head hurt. I have so much shit in bank that like thinking about transferring it makes me wanna cry LOL I haven’t even had time to do research on Home and tbh with the amount of Pokemon they cut out of gen 8 it’s like.....I don’t know what’s popular anymore either or even what I can give out .___.

Hey everyone! Just checking in, I hope everyone’s doing well.

It’s been a while, I finished playing through Sword and I finally got Pokemon Home and am figuring out how to use it. I don’t have any way of modding my Switch for gen 8 giveaways so unfortunately those are out.

I had the fleeting thought of maybe. MAYBE still operating from gens 6 and 7 and transferring the mons to gen 8 but it sounds like quite the hassle. Are people even still doing giveaways anymore??? I’ve been so out of the loop.

In addition, I’ve been really busy (for reals). I work at my full time job, and I petsit as a second job, and I’ve been doing a ton more zine art pieces which is kind of like a third job on top of it all.

I stopped doing giveaways for a few reasons: 1) I got super busy 2) They take a lot of time and effort and most importantly 3) No one was participating anymore. It took hours to prepare the mons, create the graphics and distribute the Pokemon and it was worth it when I was actually giving Pokemon out but at the end....nobody was participating. Which sucked. Normally I’m not like, a person who requires people to take part but when you’re busy on TOP of running giveaways and spending a lot of time...it was disheartening.

I guess what I’m saying here is I might be continuing giveaways and I might not. If I do end up continuing them, I might do them weekly/biweekly/monthly or figure out some kind of alternate schedule. I can’t go back to doing them every day/every few days. I literally don’t have the hours in the day to do so. I’m lucky that for most of my time doing giveaways I was working at home and had more free time, but I don’t now which sucks but such is life.

I’ll be thinking about it but in the mean time thanks for continuing to follow me! This blog hit its 5th anniversary at the beginning of the month too, and I can’t believe it’s been 5 whole freaking years. Lol. If yall have any comments or suggestions, feel free to send em my way!

As a sidenote, I have closed Pokemon commissions indefinitely. Just don’t have the time to do em anymore. Thanks to everyone who purchased from me :)
