Honestly, if narumitsu could ever become canon, I would like it the best if it were off screen, and just sneakily implied. Like maybe during a case, a piece of evidence is a tube of toothpaste and Phoenix points out that while all the other tubes of products in the victim's house are squeezed unevenly, only this specific toothpaste isn't, so that means someone that isn't the victim used it - and Edgeworth would say something like 'So you're suggesting the victim had the same barbaric tendencies such as yours, but was involved with someone that didn't' 'A reason to kill indeed' and then Phoenix's animation sweating bullets. ....Or other stuff like that. It would just be both extremely cute and extremely funny to me.

Why didn’t Kristoph press charges against Phoenix and Apollo for presenting fake evidence in Turnabout Trump (4-1)?

So, I stumbled upon an old Reddit thread asking this question, and I really wanna talk about how genius Phoenix’s plan was in subverting Kristoph’s expectations.

The success of the plan relied on one thing: Technically, the bloody card was never officially entered into the court record as official evidence– Phoenix and Apollo just pulled it out as an example of why a killer would want to swap a card. They never said it was related to the case, but Kristoph jumped to conclusions that they would and self incriminated himself on the spot. Kristoph couldn’t press charges bc it was never accepted as evidence, all because of this key dialogue:

What I love about this plan is what it tells us about Phoenix and Kristoph as characters:

1. Phoenix is fucking SMART. The man’s been playing poker nonstop for seven years AND at the same time has been conducting a fake friendship with Kristoph. He’s not only learned how to bluff his way into making someone reveal their hand, but he knows specifically how to press Kristoph’s buttons. He knows Kristoph doesn’t play by the rules and expects Phoenix to react with the same kind of Machiavellian play to get revenge. Kristoph also expects Phoenix to be impulsive– he’s got a reputation for falling off bridges and swallowing poison for a reason, after all. If Kristoph is already entering the case thinking Phoenix is going to do whatever it takes to take him down and is going to rush into hasty plans, it’s easy for Phoenix to get him by subverting his expectations and holding back. Kristoph is so convinced Phoenix is going to finish his sentence with “here’s a card that I found at the scene of the murder” that he cuts him off and self incriminates. Kristoph is actually the impulsive one desiring revenge here, and he can’t hold back from the possibility of getting Phoenix another criminal sentence.

2. Phoenix’s plan shows he cared about Apollo’s career and promise as an up and coming lawyer even though he didn’t even know him at that point. Which is REALLY INTERESTING seeing as Apollo is Kristoph’s protege and by all means COULD be JUST as corrupt as Kristoph. Yet again, despite all evidence pointing to the contrary, Phoenix believes in the innate goodness of others to a fault.
