I think I can speak for every other Christian blogger on here when I say:
This blog may make it look like everything is perfect, but I war with my flesh and stumble into sin so often. I am deeply, deeply flawed and have many things I’m still working on overcoming. I struggle with sin daily.
One of the things I always feared in having a Christian blog was unintentionally creating a “perfect Christian” image.
I’m anything but.

"Wow, you religious types are very dogmatic. Who are you to say what or who God is? You can't put God in a box!"
Unlike New Age or "spiritual" types who just make stuff up, everything that I say about God is (or should be) weighed against over 3000 years of God's self-revelation and 2,000 years of interpretation of that revelation by the infallible teaching authority of a Church he founded. You can't put God in a box, but you can say God loves us enough to tell us something about himself, that once said, can't be contradicted.

Emotional about how important friendships are in the Bible.
"Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay."
"Behold, I am with you heart and soul."
Paul weeping with the believers in Acts.
There's such love, such loyalty, woven into Scripture.

Tell me about God suffering.
Tell me about the God who knew that we would break his heart, yet chose to create us anyway. Who saw Adam, fashioned in his own image, and said “It is very good.”
Tell me about the God who said, “my heart, my bowels, my inner parts weep like a lyre for the suffering of my people.” Who watched his loved ones worship idols and fall into sin, who knew all the blackest desires of their hearts. Who faithfully wounded them, sent them into exile, let them die, and said “How can I give you up, O Ephraim? My heart recoils within me.”
Tell me about a God who fashioned us from dust in the full knowledge that in order to keep us, he would see his son scourged and dying on the cross. Who knew that one day he would turn his face away. About a Jesus who said, “here am I, send me.” Who set his face towards Golgotha even in the halls of eternity.
Tell me about a God who became small and frail. Who endured headaches and hangnails and long nights without sleep. Who was anxious and afraid, embarrassed and misunderstood. Who was tempted. Who saw his friends sad and sick and dying. Who wept with the sound of a horse before battle.
Tell me about Jesus weeping and sweating blood in Gethsemane. Tell me about the cross. Tell me about “my God, my God, why have you forsaken me” and the agony of unanswered prayer.
Tell me about the Father and the Spirit, cut off from the Son for the first time in history. The Son, begotten and abandoned. The Spirit, proceeding from nowhere. Tell me about the death of one you have loved from eternity.
Tell me about the Spirit, who intercedes for us before the Father in groans too deep for words. Who understands our deepest pains that well.
People say that to love at all is to suffer, but that isn’t true. God loved and was loved in perfect Trinity before he created us. To love what is fallen is to suffer.
Tell me about the God who chose suffering.

“The heart wants what the heart wants.”
the heart longs to be loved
it cries out to be needed
it breaks to be desired
it aches to be wanted
and when it is found, secured, collected
set in its place
within the heart of God
it is at home, for it is in Love Himself.

When Jesus died on the cross, the veil between the people and God in the temple literally, physically tore in two.
We don’t tear it ourselves. It didn’t tear partially when Jesus died so that we could continue to tear it work-by-work and hope that we’d bring it down completely one day.
Jesus said “It is finished.”
We don’t work for our salvation. Jesus paid it all, Jesus finished the work for all of time.
Our debt is paid completely and the veil is removed completely the moment we trust in Jesus’ sacrifice.
Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” —Acts 16: 30-31 (ESV)
Trust in Jesus’ perfect, completely sufficient sacrifice. Rest in his perfect provision.
Simply trust. It is finished.

“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.” -Job 12:7-10 ESV

“This event in the Bible can be explained through a particular scientific phenomenon! That means we know what REALLY happened, and it wasn’t because of some sky daddy floating around in the sky!”
Why do people like this seem to operate under the assumption that Christians and Jews believe God is just some random, supernatural force who’s disconnected from the universe? That he’s just chilling there, making ~magic tricks~ happen without any possible natural explanation? You guys do realize we believe God created everything, right? He created the universe, which means that any incredible thing that happens and has a scientific explanation to go with it...is because it’s within God’s worldly design. People are really taking a look at a piece of art and declaring that the artist doesn’t exist just because they can determine the technique that went into the art.

If you’re a new Christian and no one has told you this yet: Welcome home!! Welcome to your new family!! Welcome to the arms of a Savior whose love for you is so beyond our comprehension that we can hardly even explain it!! Welcome to grace without bounds!! The angels rejoiced the moment you came home, and we are rejoicing, too!! I can’t explain how happy I am that you’re here with us, and if you need anything, don’t hesitate to reach out! Welcome!!

A hot take: Rejecting the morals of Christianity because they are “old” and “traditional” does not make you intellectually superior. A moral idea or concept doesn’t lose its merit because of its antiquity. Similarly, newer moral ideas and concepts are not inherently better simply because they are new.

But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”
And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.”
Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”
God said to Moses, “I AM who I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
Exodus 3:11-14

I'm a Christian and I support LGBTQ rights
I have seen this phrase an awful lot lately. Can homosexuality and Christianity actually co-exist? Let’s see what the Bible has to say regarding some common views on the LGBTQ movement. “The Bible never mentions homosexuality.” The Bible mentions homosexuality multiplies times. Leviticus 18:22, 20:13; Romans 1:26-28; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; and 1 Timothy 1:9-10 are just a few of the passages that deal with homosexuality and plainly depict it as vile, sinful behavior. “The New Testament never mentions homosexuality.” As per the previous answer, you’ll note that the majority listed (those from Romans, 1 Corinthians, and 1 Timothy) are in the New Testament. “If you say homosexuality is a sin, then you can’t eat pork either.” Certain laws applied specifically to the Jews, as they were set apart as God’s chosen people. He had a special purpose for them. Homosexuality, on the other hand, is a sin to all. Additionally, it is mentioned in the New Testament after Christ had already come and fulfilled the requirements of the law, meaning it is still completely applicable. There are a LOT of instances similar to this, and truly we could spend a good long while refuting them all, but the short of it is that context is key. You cannot overlook the context in which these instructions were given or it will lead to misinterpretation, and that is exactly what has occurred when people use such passages in an attempt to justify sin. “The Bible was mistranslated.” The Bible is the most authenticated ancient text we have by an enormous margin. If you discredit the authenticity of the Bible, you must then disregard the credibility of every other ancient text. [x] “The Bible was written by biased men.” 2 Timothy 2:15 says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” The word “inspiration” literally means “God-breathed”. Every word of scripture came directly from God, men were simply the instruments He used to record those words. “Jesus never mentions homosexuality.” Jesus says, in John 10:30, “I and my Father are one.” Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit exist as the trinity - three persons in one. Jesus IS God, and since every word of scripture is directly from God, Jesus has indeed said that homosexuality is a sin. “Times change, it wasn’t culturally acceptable back then like it is now.” The ideals of men change, but God’s Word does not. His character does not change and His statutes remain. Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” “Christianity is about love. God is love.” God is love, but He is also just. A good judge does not let wrong go unpunished. God is so completely holy and perfect that even the smallest sin is abhorrent to Him and He cannot abide by it. Lying, stealing, hate (which God calls murder of the heart), lust (which God calls adultery of the heart), are just some of the sins that separate us from God. “But God demonstrates His own love towards us in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). God’s love is shown by the fact that He, in His justice, sent His son to take the punishment for sins we committed. Christianity is about how I am a sinner, damned to Hell by my own actions, incapable of saving myself, but Christ died so that, by putting my trust in Him, I am saved from an eternity in Hell. “Homosexuals can’t help the way they were born.” Guess what, we are ALL born that way. The Bible says that we are ALL born sinners, but through Christ we are born anew. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) “I can change the Bible to fit my lifestyle.” By deciding what God is and is not based on your own desires, you are making a god of your own choosing. You are creating a god that is not Christ. That breaks the very first commandment where God says, “You shall have no other gods before me”. Additionally, Proverbs 30:5-6 says, “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” “I don’t believe God would say that’s a sin.” The Bible clearly says that sexual perversion of any kind, especially homosexuality, is a sin. Just because you don’t understand, or you don’t like it, doesn’t mean it is not true. God says it’s a sin, so it is. The question then becomes do you trust that God knows best? God has never failed before, He has never let you down, He has never stopped offering His hand to guide and help you. In every imaginable way, throughout the entirety of history, He has offered His love and mercy right alongside His justice and righteousness. The Bible is proof of that. If you say, “I don’t believe God would say homosexuality is a sin,” then you have said, “I don’t believe God.” The Bible says that there is ONLY one way to Heaven, only one way we can be saved from the punishment we deserve for our sins: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31). If you choose not to believe God, it is your rejection of His Word that will lead you to Hell because we are completely and depravedly incapable of atoning for our sins by our own merits. Salvation comes by grace through faith in Christ alone. You cannot reconcile homosexuality and Christ.
