Any belly/burp head canons for ryuji?

Ryuji (Persona 5)

Ryuji’s the most exuberant and hyperactive of all the Phantom Thieves, and it’s completely in-character for him to be an immense glutton. He’s the type who isn’t picky about what he eats, so long as he gets to stuff his face with as freakin’ much of it as humanly possible. Morgana always gets on his face for being such a pig, ol’ Skull is always waaaaaay too busy cramming his craw with as much meat as he can to care. :P

With what a glutton he is, I imagine Ryuji can pack away enough to the point where he’s left rocking a serious melon-belly. He’s the type to get a really round and tight bloat. The sort that feels taut as a boulder. He’s got one helluva metabolism, so he doesn’t gain weight, especially since he’s so active and hyper all the time. But his belly can seriously weigh him down when he’s stuffed to the brim. Not that it matters. He’s the type who would kick back with a hefty belch and slap his belly with sheer satisfaction.

With how much Ryuji eats and how much of a dolt he is, it stems to reason he’s pretty prone to giving himself stomachaches. Most often, it’s not because Ryuji eats too much, though he HAS overstuffed himself often. No, rather, it’s usually that he eats a lot and is only a little bloated after, but cramps up when he tries doing stuff. On multiple occasions, the Thieves have had to delay jobs because Skull’s stomach won’t stop grumbling and giving him grief because the idiot tried to run around on a full gut. And when he does that, he tends to burp a lot, which can also ruin any stealth missions they’ve got in the works. Anne’s typically the one who rubs Ryuji’s belly to help settle it the hell down, which leaves him as putty in her hands. And even despite the situations, she can’t help but smile every time Ryuji gets all dopey and smiley from tummy rubs.

Ryuji’s a big eater through and through, but I can see him doing macro vore, either to troll his fellow thieves or to down one of the smaller or shrunken Shadows. He’s the type who wouldn’t think ahead at how swallowing one of these damn demons might not agree with his stomach, because hey, at least it’s dealt with. If his prey is banging around in his gut, Ryuji will get a lil burpy, but if he’s being a troll, he’ll hold in any burps that creep up and swallow ‘em down to pelt his prey in the face like a douchebag. XD

We saw canonically that Ryuji chugs soda like a champ. He downs that beverage in-game so heartily that we can hear genuinely loud and wet gulps erupting from his throat. So it’s a safe bet that Ryuji’s favorite drink is soda. It’s bubbly, full of sugar, and makes him burp. In short, it’s every bit as gloriously obnoxious as he is. :P

We saw canonically that Ryuji can burp. In fact, he literally belched to break the tension among his friends and got scolded for it. So I like to imagine that Ryuji is a belching champ. He’s the type who knows how to burp on cue but prefers to get soda in his gut to get some ‘extra fuel’ if he wants to make them even louder, longer or just wants more residual gas to troll any of his pals. He’s the type who will burp and annoy one of his friends, and when they tell him to stop, he’ll grin cheekily, then creep up behind them and burp right in their ears. If Anne or Morgana tell him to excuse himself, Ryuji will concede and literally belch out the words, “EX-CUUUUUUUSE...MMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEE-EEEEEUUUUURRRPH!!!!!” And after they glare daggers at him, he’ll just grin innocently and say, “Hey, ya told me t’excuse myself! Ya didn’t specify HOW!” Ryuji’s the type who can not only burp-talk but can even belch out entire sentences, but tends to get winded since his stomach’s so thin. When he’s stuffed, Ryuji tends to belch a lot more frequently out of necessity. His stomach always tries to make as much room as possible, and when it gets bloated, the extra stomach capacity causes his burps to get really deep and loud.

Ryuji’s cheeky enough to get pretty lewd if someone specifically asks for it. For instance, if he’s in a relationship and his partner has a belly kink, Ryuji will tease them to high heaven. He’ll always slump back in his chair and whine about being hungry. If he’s full, he’ll lift his shirt up and make it a point to rub his belly in an extra show-y fashion for his partner. And of course, he’ll indulge their kinks plenty, letting them rub his belly whether it’s full to the brim or empty and hungry. He’ll lay in bed and let his partner grope his gut for as long as they want. And if they have a burp kink, he’ll make it a point to belch as loud as he possibly can around them, and to embarrass them further, he’ll pat his stomach and call ‘em out completely even in public like some giant kinkshaming troll. And if they’re in private, he’ll burp in their face, let out a muffled burp right in their ears or burp their names. He’ll bloat himself up with as much soda as possible and burp as frequently as his partner wants but usually ends up making himself sick if he does that too much because, again...kiiiind of a dumbass. XD

Ryuji’s also very prone to hiccups. He eats too fast or drinks too fast (canonical), so things tend to go down the wrong pipe. And as a result, he gets the long-lasting hiccups. The kinds that last him half an hour with him hiccuping again and again and growing miserable as his throat starts to burn. The hiccuping often turns to those wet “hic-urrrrps!” and jostles his stomach around that they tend to roll into deeper belches unwittingly. Ryuji hates the hiccups and always tries in vein to snuff them out, but can never seem to get anything done about it besides letting it ride. I’d feel sorry for him but admit it, we all love seeing this lovable dope suffer for our sins. ;)

1. Oldest OC

Aidan:

Aidan isn’t my oldest OC in GENERAL. But for tumblr, he was the first, and initially a character I just came up with for kink purposes before deciding to actually make into a character. Bit of a fiery d-bag, but that’s part of the fun. :P

2. Newest OC

Roark, as seen below here:

Roark’s an earth mage, and one of the main supporting characters I came up with for Aidan’s own original adventure series I’ll be working on at some point. Still figuring out his personality. But I imagine he’s a bit of a rock brain on top of being a bit of a hothead. He’s someone who loves rumbling and getting into fights to prove he’s the toughest around. AND he’s got an appetite to spare. ;)

3. Favorite OC

Hakari & Cadmus:

For two different reasons. Both characters changed the most since when I first made them. Initially, Hakari was just an assassin, but I kept playing with the idea and he somehow became a freakin’ cinnamon bun who just happens to be a badass, but someone who doesn’t take life and cares deeply for animals. He became a lot more endearing than I expected he would be, and has become a bit of a fan favorite.

Cadmus, on the other hand, I didn’t know WHAT the hell I expected when I made him. Initially, he was just a bad boy pred, hence the tongue piercing. But the thing to bare in mind is that I don’t just make OC’s for the characters sake. I make them to be part of a story. And somehow, some way, Cadmus ended up becoming, in my opinion at least, my most compelling character. He’s an absolutely vicious villain with extreme intellect and strategic planning on top of being a highly skilled combatant. But it’s what made him the way he is and what his ultimate endgame and WHY that makes him such a fascinating character, to the point where he’s the one I have the most fun planning out. I know how his story will play out and it can still surprise me and go in places I may not currently have planned.

But he’s the character I’m most excited to share once I get to his time in the sun for HISS. He’s a character who will be fun to watch, but will also bring some serious devastation to Hakari’s world, acting as the ultimate “reality check” for the lad, and his primary foil throughout “HISS”.

4. Favorite OC Design

I’m gonna tentatively go with Cadmus because I like how it’s simple but still has style whilst maintaining a “mercenary” look. That, and his tight-fitting shirt gives us a nice glimpse at those abs. ;)

5. Main Reason For Making Your OC’s

Because I’m making a written series I plan to polish up when done and turn into a couple of different books that I can publish online. Runo, I plan to do the same with, but he was made purely with kink on the brain. Hence his shaved head. Way easier to draw on multiple occasions. ‘XD

6. Describe Your Character Creation Process

I’ll give a very specific example; Straymaker:

When I first came up with him, it was a simple idea; create a human equivalent of ‘The Predator’. Someone who was actively hunting down Nara’s crew with a HUGE assortment of really unique and deadly weapons. His trademark being a high caliber rifle that also acts as an axe. He’s big, he’s silent, and he’s incredibly dangerous. But then, I started thinking, “Okay, but then, if Deimos is hunting Saurians, how is this guy any different?” So to help inspire what his character might be like, I listened for what I thought might be a fitting “boss theme” for the guy. For HISS, I turn to Killer Instinct’s soundtrack often, along with various pieces from Mick Gordon and Celldweller.

Then, I happened upon this theme, which sounded like a perfect fit for a human arsenal. A huge showdown between Nara and Straymaker, with bullets, explosives and heavy slashes with his axe galore:

But it was around 3:20 that the song quiets down. And in the heat of all the chaos and bombast from the track, the song slows down and something almost sad begins to play, albeit for a brief moment. And I thought more and more about what that sadness could be and how that could tie into Nara, her crew and why this guy is targeting them. Literally, just in that minute beat between 3:20 to 4:20, a very specific scene started playing in my head between Straymaker and Nara, and just like that, I knew exactly who this character was, why he was doing what he was doing, and eventually, found a way to very organically fit him into the story, as well as figure out what the overall role he’d be playing was, as well as how his story would end.

Generally, music really is a HUGE part of how characters change for me. Cadmus was another great example. Because I initially didn’t create him to be, basically, Hakari’s MAIN antagonist, but when I happened upon this theme, which just worked perfectly for some kind of “final boss fight” against Cadmus:

It was 3:55 and onward that helped me figure him out too. That he wasn’t just an evil mirror to Hakari, but someone Hakari needed to CONQUER; his ultimate challenge, as well as someone who, arguably, will bring the most pain in Hakari’s life, making their rivalry the most personal one I have planned out.

7. Do You Ship Your OC’s With Someone Else’s?

@pspmaniac818‘s OC Chris and Aidan. PSPM has commissioned several stories with those two together, and I love the idea that, once upon a time, Aidan and Chris were involved. But it was far more casual and physical. Aidan’s an asshole, so I imagine he’s not someone Chris would probably be able to be more tender with…buuuuut he’ll “rock his world,” and tease every last one of Chris’ kinks. ;)

8. Fav OC Ship?

Hakari x Nara - I love the drastic shift in personalities. Nara’s a bit more bombastic, rowdy and far more intense in combat, given that she doesn’t shy away from ending the other guy if she has to. Whereas Hakari is far more subdued, stoic (on the surface) and non-lethal. But he’s also someone who gets flustered shockingly easily, and their relationship can be really cute together…not to mention hilarious, since Nara’s also a massive troll and Hakari, bless his soul, is kind of an easy target. :P

9. Weirdest OC?

Jian Akibo, definitely.

Here’s a middle aged ex-monk who doesn’t act or sound even remotely monk-like, but demonstrates some serious martial arts mastery, and can take on a bunch of baddies at once without breaking a sweat. All the while, trolling bad guys AND good guys around him and often speaking in riddles, almost like an old monk warrior version of the Cheshire Cat. There are reasons for why he’s such an odd-ball, but he’s just a fun, middle aged man who will whack a bandit in the nuts with his staff one minute, then sit down and offer Hakari green tea the next.

11. Would You Consider Yourself Nice To Your OC’s?

There’s a saying in writing.

“Kill your darlings.”

My OC’s are characters of a larger story, and the most compelling part of any story is character growth. And many characters grow through hardship. In HISS, Hakari is gonna get his freakin’ ass kicked and his spirit broken in a number of genuinely heartbreaking ways. A number of the villains became the way they did because some truly horrible things happened to them which changed them for the worst. All of my OC’s go through a ringer, some way more so than others.

BUT!

I’m also not the writer of Pandora Hearts who plans to make you like all these characters then kill them off in depressingly heartbreaking fashion. The endings I have in mind for every single character, both hero and villain alike, is what I think the characters deserve for all they go through. And in the case of certain villains, what they deserve for all they’ve put others through. I don’t want to have characters just suffer and then, at the tail end of their journey, simply kill them off. It’s the same reason I loved that Batman lived at the end of TDKR. For all Batman went through, he deserved to survive and live a happy life. Simply killing him off at the end just makes him a Christ-like martyr who died for our sins but never got to escape the life that had consumed him.

I’d say spoiler alert, but that movie is almost 9 years old so-holy shit, TDKR is almost nine years old… .________.;

12. An OC You’ve Killed Or Plan To Kill

Kasumi

Kasumi is Hakari’s childhood bully. He was another Saurian who always picked on Hakari for being “too weak,” or constantly beat the poor kid up whenever he’d let the chickens loose so they could escape becoming food. He was arrogant and incredibly cocksure of his skills as an assassin. And the instant he was unwittingly sent to go after ‘Seven’, he was literally torn apart while he was still breathing. His death is horrific and, despite being such an asshole, in his final moments, he’s almost like a scared little boy realizing just how outmatched and unprepared he truly was…but was sadly WAY too dead to actually be humbled by his graphic lesson.

But then, Seven reassembled the young Saurian and brought him back to life. His soul was completely corrupted in the process though, to the point where it’s hard to tell if it’s even really Kasumi in that twisted husk anymore. Now, Kasumi serves as Seven’s loyal wraith, who plays a vital role in Seven’s schemes; his mind twisted and corrupted, while that arrogance has become deadlier than ever.

13. Are Any Of Your OC’s Parents?

John

John once had a family; a loving wife and a young daughter. It’s unknown if they left him, if he left them, or if they died tragically. He doesn’t talk about his family or himself at all. Nara used to try and make an effort, but something happened that has caused permanent animosity between the two.

14. Are There Any OC’s That You Find Yourself Neglecting?

And a big part of why is because he’s not part of the HISS story. He just be in his own pocket universe with isolated stories about him, but I’ve kind of just forgotten he even exists a lot of the times. Which is a shame because a friend really helped me in figuring this fella and his design out. But honestly, I don’t know when I’ll get around to doing anything with him. I debated just selling the OC, but figure I can still use him, just not the way I do most of my other OC’s.

15. An OC That’s Difficult To Write / Draw / RP?

Well, I don’t RP, so that’s a non issue.

As for difficult to write and draw? Deimos.

What makes Deimos so tricky is figuring out why he’s such a zealot. I had an idea that maybe he resented Saurians for personal reasons, because there’s a very specific scene that highlights when Saurian and Vanisher tensions explode. But then, he risks basically becoming Scar from FMA, and I wanted the character not to feel like he was aping off of any established characters. Part of me wanted to make it that he just got some sick pleasure from killing Saurians, but that would run contrary to how his story will ultimately end.

What I THINK I’m settling on is that he’s someone who represents remnants of a violent past that can’t be undone. He’s so determined to carry out his mission that he’ll do it even if the other Vanishers won’t support him in the end, because Deimos can’t let go of the old ways or what happened to the Vanishers that day.

16. Tallest and Shortest OC’s?

Tallest - Kentaro

He’s the only OC that’s tall and just large enough that he can straight up swallow a human being whole with very minimal effort.

Shortest OC - Isole

On top of just being a very “chill” cinnamon bun, Isole’s also pretty small. He’s actually slightly shorter than Nara, who I have at around 5′8ft. His small, lean frame is a big part of what makes him so unassuming. He’s the friendliest looking OC, but also one of the most powerful. Much like Todoroki, he’s someone who has pretty much MASTERED his cryomancy, and can flash freeze an evildoer in seconds, subduing them and protecting everyone else like it’s nothing. All without losing that chipper smile of his. ;)

17. Oldest & Youngest OC’s?

Oldest OC is obviously ‘Seven’.

He’s several hundred years old. But the physically oldest character is Jian, who is in his late fifties and looks like he’s in his late fifties. Second oldest would be Straymaker, who’s in his forties.

Youngest OC’s are Hakari and Isole.

Both are the only ones who are still in their late teens, Kasumi would be too, but he’s undead, so age doesn’t really matter

Close second would be Mako and Mauler.

Despite Mako’s appearance, he’s actually quite young and inexperienced, hence his dopey personality. And Mauler, while around Hakari’s age, is just a feral mutant.

18. Do You Dislike Any Of Your OC’s?

Kasumi is definitely the most unlikable. Hakari’s a character I’m very fond of, and Kasumi’s the jerkass who left the poor snake-boi bruised, bloodied and in tears constantly as kids. And it was his arrogance that would cost him his life in the end.

I made him because, I wanted some specter from Hakari’s past to still hang over him and remind him of that vulnerable, “weak” kid he always thought he was. Even as a wraith, Kasumi’s warped mind still has enough of his old personality to talk down at Hakari and remind him what a “loser” he always was and always will be. Only this time, it’s hard for Hakari not to feel sad, not at Kasumi’s words but just seeing what happened to him.

19. Have You Ever Made A Self-Insert?

I do “POV Reader Fics” all the time. That’s as close to “self-insert” as I write.

20. An OC Regret

My earliest designs for Hakari, Aidan, Cadmus and Koloss.

The looks I came up with for them were all incredibly bare-bones and lazy. They were made very clearly with kink on the mind and not character. And as a result, they all looked really bland and unoriginal until I gave everyone an overhaul. And needless to say, I’m a lot happier with their new looks:

I also regret the way I depicted Nara in my first outing with her in that Koloss comic I commissioned. I was still figuring out her character and “prey with a bit of a belly kink” getting eaten by Koloss just ain’t her character at all. She’s the type who, in that same situation, would kick Koloss in the ‘croc eggs’ and bolt. She’d also never trust Koloss for any reason, since they’re kind of primary rivals, Nara being the leader of a mercenary group set on stopping the Blackouts and Koloss being a bandit leader tasked with making them happen.

BUT! That’s the fun of creating characters. You dick around and keep experimenting until you finally settle on personalities, looks and stories that suit the character best.

Remember, Bakugou started off as the nerd of MHA, who was way more meek and in need of protecting, and Kaminari was the original bully of the show. THAT was how those two started. ‘XD

21. An OC You Didn’t Expect To Be Popular

Hakari, because this is tumblr and I thought the sexier, kinkier Aidan would steal the spotlight. But this pure snake-lad has stolen the hearts of many, myself included. XD

Then again, THIS was the first piece I did with him some years back when I first created the character and didn’t know what I was gonna do with him:

22. An OC You Didn’t Expect To Love

Cadmus, because again, his creation and development was the most surprising. He literally just started off as some bad boy predator I just wanted to see get stuffed. Like THIS was the first piece of anything I did with Cadmus some years back when I was still figuring out how the hell to draw. ‘XD

And ^THAT somehow turned into THIS:

A nihilist martial artist with a genius level intellect but is completely dead inside, who gets by through fleeting, momentary pleasures and an endgame that could bring absolute devastation to the world.

Again, the characters you make can surprise the hell out of you. And none surprised me more than Cadmus. I genuinely think he’s one of the most fascinating characters I’ve ever written period. And for the life of me, I don’t actually remember HOW my mind tangled itself enough into creating a character like this. ‘XD
