Chapter Ten

As soon as they arrived at Max’s place, Marinette couldn’t help but feel nervous seeing how almost the gang completed. Even the boys were serious talking about something.

“Guys? What’s going on here?” Marinette checked out the people in the living room. “Where’s Nino and Alya?

“They’re on Max’s room,” Alix answered, pointing to the room that is partially opened. She then patted Marinette’s shoulder. “I know you aren’t that kind of woman, Mari.”

Marinette could feel her heart beating faster. She immediately rushed towards the room. She was followed by Adrien, who was still silent ever since they arrived.

“Luka?” Marinette’s eyes were pinned to Luka, who was busy staring at the screen of Max’s computer. “What’s going on?”

“This isn’t us.” Luka blurted out of nowhere. His eyes were piercing to the screen, making Marinette lean forward and gaze her eyes on the monitor.

“100 percent. The clip is not Marinette.” Markov, floating above the screen, announced, making everyone breath in relaxation, except for Marinette.

“That wasn’t me.” Marinette’s eyes were full of confusion and fright. “W-why? W-who would do this to me. That wasn’t me!”

“Marinette. Calm down. We know it wasn’t you,” Alya whispered, hushing her panic down, but it seems like Marinette couldn’t hear anything.

Marinette’s fear had her slowly walking backward. She didn’t think someone could make a scandal out of her. She didn’t do anything bad, as far as she remembers.

Luka supported Marinette’s shoulder after realizing that she’s trembling on her knees. He looked at Adrien, who was silent and just blankly staring in shock.

“It’s probably Lila. That liar.”

Chloe suddenly appeared in the doorway, holding a familiar thing in her hand.

“It’s Lila’s phone,” Adrien blurted out as if he just come back from his senses. “How did you get a hold of that?”

“She accidently left it in our room.” Sabrina appeared behind Chloe. “We came here after that clip was sent in all the university students. We followed you here.”

Chloe handed the phone to Max. “There’s a full length video in that thing. They edited Dupain-Cheng’s face so ugly. That Lila’s scheme is so ridiculous...utterly—”

“Ridiculous. We know Chloe. Thanks for the info by the way.” Alya interrupted. She looked at Max and nod. “You know what you got to do.”

“Sure thing. Leave it to me.” Max’s fingers were busy tapping his keyboard and doing something.

After few more hours, Max had gotten rid of the 3-second clip surfacing online. However, he could not delete the copy if people save it for themselves.

“I had her phone? How did she—”

“Duh? She had copies obviously. Seriously Sabrina, use your brain sometimes,” Chloe mockingly interrupted Sabrina. “We need to go. We’ll just leave the phone here. It wasn’t mine anyway. I believe Dupain-Cheng won’t dare to do such thing.”

Adrien just stared at Marinette, being comforted by Luka. He didn’t realize it back then. How did he even believe Lila about Marinette and Luka’s scandal? Marinette is not that kind of girl.

Maybe he just thought it was possible because the guy is Luka.

He knows that these past few years, Marinette and Luka have gotten closer. He thought they were probably dating. He just felt like they were. The way Luka hugged her tight, securing her like she’s a treasure forever kept. He can’t be like that.

“Why are you looking like that dude?” Nino asked him, making him feel uncomfortable and obviously nervous. “Do you know about this? You’re Lila’s boyfriend, aren’t you?”

Adrien can sense the disappointment in Nino’s voice. He didn’t answer but just looked away. He’s used to be lying, but this time around, not a single lie came out of his mouth. He just can’t lie in front of Marinette’s face.

“You knew!” Alya shouted and almost pounced at him, but Nino, fortunately, dragged her back to calm her down. “Did you actually think that it was her?! You didn’t tell anyone cause you believe it?! How could you!

Everyone outside the room heard Alya’s voice. Their other friends immediately peak at them.

“What’s going on? We saw Chloe left. Did she say something wrong again?” Mylene panicky asked everyone in the room.

“What’s happening here?”

“Leave, Adrien.” Alya held her temples, trying to suppress her anger. She glared at him, making him guilty even more. “Leave!”

“Alya.” Marinette finally gained the courage to speak. “Adrien might have some explanations.”

“Seriously Mari?! Are you really that dumb for him?”

“I’ll just leave.” Adrien cannot bear to see a friendship crumbling because of him. Marinette treasures her friends. He can’t let Marinette choose between him and Alya.

His head hung low, disappointed to himself, and he was on his way out when Marinette called him.

“Adrien.” Marinette looked at Adrien with hope in her eyes. “Explain to me when you’re ready.”

He went into his car and drove it off near Seine River. He went out and leaned on the hood, trying to calm himself, thinking what he’ll do next. He put a cap on his head so that people won’t recognize him easily.

He sighed, looking at the calm river. These things happened because of Lila.

He gritted his teeth with that realization, and as if on cue, he heard a familiar voice from behind.

“Adrien!”

Some passerby recognized him and took pictures of him. He doesn’t care about that right now.

“Lila.” He could only mumble her name and pretend to smile. He’s a public figure, and he can’t make a fuss. “What the hell did you just do?” He hissed as soon as she stood in front of him.

“I did what?” Lila smiled teasingly. She clung her arm over Adrien’s and acted like she’s the one being oppressed. “What makes you think about that?”

“That 3 sec clip. You edited them all too well. Too well, that I just want to hit you so bad.” He clenched his fist and pushed her. “I’m so done with this, Lila. Now that I know the truth, I no longer have reason to be with you. We are done.”

As he opened his door, Lila started chuckling as if a demon-possessed her.

“Do you really think that’s all I could do to her?” Lila went back to Adrien’s arms. “I have so many ways to make her life miserable even more. So, choose, me or her?”

Adrien was caught off guard. He knew with Lila’s massive connection; she could ruin Marinette. If she says she’ll have many ways to ruin Marinette, she definitely had some other plans to do so.

His grip tightened on the door. Lila left him with no choice. He’ll rather choose Marinette to hate her than the world hating on Marinette. Marinette could barely even handle the thing earlier. How much more for the future Lila could do?

Chapter Nine

Marinette and Luka arrived at the Seine river prior to her request. She glanced at her photo with Adrien in the bar. This time she wasn't focused to her moment with Adrien. Something was also caught on the picture that only until now that she noticed.

"What was it that you want to talk about, Marinette?"

They sat and watched the flow of the Seine river. Marinette didn't utter a word trying to figure out words she wanted to ask him. It's a sudden realization that made her lost in words to ask.

She handed him the phone that shows a photo of her and Adrien kissing in the bar without saying anything. Well, it's just her initiating the kiss.

Luka's eyes widened seeing the photo. He was hoping that Marinette wouldn't ask her about that.

"Do you know what happened in that photo?"

"Kind of. You've just confessed to Adrien." Luka chuckled, making Marinette looked away. He realized Marinette's reaction. "What's wrong? Isn't it a good thing that you finally confessed?"

"I know, but not like this. Also, Luka?" Marinette looked straight into his eyes and was hoping for his answer. "Do you like me?"

Luka flinched hearing her question. That's the question he wished she didn't ask.

Upon seeing Luka's reaction, Marinette felt guilty.

"I know this look, Luka." Marinette grabbed her phone and stared at the photo where Luka also caught. "I once looked someone like this."

The way his eyes reacted upon seeing her and Adrien was the same eyes she had a few years ago. The way she looked at Adrien and Kagami dating a few years back then. The look of pain, regret, and happiness at the same time.

"I'm sorry, Luka. I didn't know."

"It's okay, Mari. It's not our fault that we fell in love with someone who doesn't love us back. Well, not to your case, I guess."

"What do you mean? Adrien doesn't like me. He dated Kagami, almost dated Chloe, and now he's dating Lila. Where in that aspect could we tell that he likes me?"

Luka patted her head and chuckled. "Let's just say guy instincts."

Silence prevailed them while watching the river as the sun goes down. It wasn't until dark they decided to go home.

Marinette thinks that if she finds it hard to notice Luka's feelings for her, Adrien most probably doesn't see hers until the day of her unexpected confession.

Her group chat notification continuously keeps on beeping as she was about to go to bed. She decided to check it out, and the girls' gossips bombarded her group chat.

Alya: Looked at this girl. Grr. I'll gonna expose her lies real soon.

Mylene: I thought she was in Italy?

Rose: Did Lila just lie?

Juleka: She's with Adrien.

Alya: @Rose, obviously she is, as always. @Juleka, she probably forced Adrien to go with her.

Alix: @Alya, you need to calm down. They're just on the train together. There's nothing terrible at it. Besides, they're dating.

Marinette sighed and started scrolling past the conversation to find the photo they are talking about. She finally saw the picture.

It was a photo of Lila and Adrien on the train to London for Adrien's shoot with other European models. Lucky for Lila, she got to see supermodels and spend time with Adrien.

Lila has ever told one of the rarest truths, and that is she took photos with other male models in London during the shoot. She's bragging it to their class before the discussion even has started.

Marinette was annoyed with that fact. It's just the first day of the week, and that liar's presence literally pisses her. However, she knew it wasn't only her being annoyed with Lila.

After class, she glanced at Chloe and Sabrina, who was sitting across her seat. She caught Chloe rolling her eyes from watching Lila bragging again. Marinette and Chloe didn't get along that well, but this time they share the same thoughts about Lila.

"I'm sorry, friends, but I got to go. MY BOYFRIEND..." Marinette noticed the emphasis on Lila's voice getting her attention. "...my boyfriend is waiting for me."

"How lucky. She's dating Adrien Agreste. Seriously? An Adrien Agreste?! Like wow. Lila really got it all."

Marinette had enough of people complimenting Lila on her lies. She immediately left as soon as Lila leave their room.

"That Dupain-Cheng's so obvious," Chloe complained to Sabrina as they head to their room. She caught that Sabrina's attention is not with her. "Hey! Sabrina!"

Sabrina crouched on the floor and picked the white phone lying in the doorway.

"Whose phone was this?" Chloe grabs the phone from Sabrina and turns it on. Her lips formed a grin after realizing whose its owner. "So it's hers."

Chloe immediately puts it in her bag after Marinette suddenly appeared in front of her.

"Why are you here?"

"I forgot something." Marinette heads back to her chair and grabs the book left under her desk. "We have quizzes tomorrow."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever."

Marinette did not mind Chloe's tone. She just had to go home.

She was walking outside the campus absent-mindedly when a horn honked out of nowhere. She was startled that she ends up letting go of the book she was holding.

The driver of the car immediately gets out, almost panicking to go near her.

"I'm sorry, Mari. I didn't mean to startle you." Adrien helped her stood up, but she ended up being clumsy even more and tripped on onto him. "Marinette?"

"Oh! I'm sorry!" Marinette immediately stood properly and faced Adrien. "Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to sent Lila home?"

"Lila? We haven't talked since we went back yesterday?"

Marinette frowned upon hearing those words from Adrien. She absolutely heard from Lila that he was picking her. Was it another lie to intimidate her?

"So why are you here then?" Marinette asked in confusion. Based on Adrien's suit and make-up, he probably just rushed out from a photoshoot.

"I.." Adrien hesitated, just sighed. "I came here to talk with you. Can I bring you out somewhere else?"

Marinette could almost hear her heart pounding loudly upon Adrien's request. What could possibly Adrien want from her?

They get in the car, and Adrien just started driving.

"I was actually worried about you passing out that night, Mari." Adrien blurted all of a sudden, making her quite dazed.

"I—I'm sorry. I—I just had so much fun that night, that's all." Marinette answered, panicking. She was hoping Adrien won't ask her the question again.

Before Adrien could speak again, his phone rang. He noticed it was Alya, so he asked Marinette to answer it for him.

"Hello? Alya?"

"Adri—wait. Marinette?! Where's Adrien? You're with him?!" Alya's voice was panicking, and in the background, she could hear their friends arguing. "Nevermind. Give the phone to him quick!"

"He's driving."

"Then park! This is an important issue. Tell him!"

She didn't have a choice but to ask Adrien to park aside and answer the phone.

Adrien's reaction changes the longer he talked with Alya on the phone. Not long after, he angrily grasped his phone and threw it to his dashboard. He grips the stirring wheel tightly as his firm expression evidently showing in his face making Marinette confused and somehow scared.

"Don't open your phone, Marinette. We're going to Max's place."

Marinette hadn't had time to follow Adrien's sudden changes. She has no idea what they were doing. All she felt right now was fright and nervousness into something that is about to come.

This was soooo funny idk.

So gorilla had a miraculous idk what was it but it works just like the peacock and butterfly miraculouses. So he made us the villain versions of ourselves. It works like the Zombizou episode where ms. Bustier was zombizou then when the other person touches the other they'll be zombies (if u know what i mean haha) so Juleka tap my shoulder and in an instant my clothes change (like a traditional chinese clothing, I'm not even chinese) and I called myself "Princess Justice" (like wtf I ain't even Marinette in that dream, so yeah there's someone who adores me so much he's like the main person who was the source of why we turned out like this (like ms.bustier in zombizou)

I jump/flew to a traditional rich ancient chinese building one after another and found myself in the roof staring to a man i his traditional chinese clothing surrounding with concubines like wtf. (I was playing Legend of Phoenix before I sleep so maybe that's the reference HAHAHA)
