Fun Fact

Pressing J while looking at a Tumblr blog or home feed will scroll up on the page, pressing K will scroll down. This is helpful considering a lot of the Tumblrs feature infinite scrolling.

If you feel like you’ve seen this alread, that’s normal. This list of recommendation has been previously posted on my first account @praestantias which has been deleted for some reasons. So here I am, reposting it.

Hating how elitist and eurocentric the dark academia community became, I would truly appreciate that you leave some recommendation of book written by people of color, for I noticed that I am guilty of the eurocentric part, but I am really want to educate myself and read more non-white books.

Thank you for your suggestions!

I spent the day quite productively (as i consider monday a starting, pre game set) - i did the assignments due tomorrow, interpreted the piece of literature we were given. Overall a pretty good day. But… i’ve spent the whole day outside, reading, working and sunbathing (of course both of my arms, legs and face are burnt, but that’s beside the point). Also i enrolled in some courses (which will be the thing i’ll be substituting biology and economy with now - i’m not really sorry about this; i’ve always wanted to grasp art history, religions and beliefs of the far east, ancient philosophies and so forth, so im really glad such an opportunity exists - and it’s completely free, too!). On the whole it was a joyous day filled with prospects, i hope tomorrow will be the same (except for the sunburn part)!
oh gosh, i’m really cheery today. that’s good

spent all day laying in the sun in the garden, just reading. the last time i felt so calm and relaxed was before this whole situation blown up. during the workdays i’ll be studying the self-assigned topics and probably posting notes on them, but i’m not too sure about that. i think i’ll add actually reading through the fundamentals of philosophy (just a summary book) on the curriculum. we’ll see.

Is cross-referencing philosophical books to get the realest version and interpretation of Kant’s philosophy (including his own writing and giving it 2 hours to work wonders inside your own brain) just to cross-reference another piece of literature( just because one thing reminded you of the lines) a perfectly valid thing to do all day? It is now.

So - life decided to vibe check me wholly. I mean I don’t really feel good (fever, sore throat and all that jazz) and couldn’t keep my brain focused enough to do anything productive (I read some though so that’s a good thing!). I’ll catch up with it eventually (maybe even tomorrow since it’s saturday). I’m still disappointed - I wanted to study so much but physically couldn’t. Quite frustrating. I’ll watch some Penny Dreadful, maybe eat something and go back to sleep. I’m so tired.
Lots of love,
H.

I managed to almost do everything I had planned for the day, but life decided to bring me down to earth and i caught a cold and didn’t manage to do bio this time. I haven’t missed much since I know most of it anyways, but still I was kinda disappointed (I didn’t have the time to watch another episode of Penny :(( ). Due to this I’ll be working in a different pattern for a few days and read more books through the day. I’ll post the notes I did on econ tomorrow - gotta sleep sometime too ;) .

Just the front pages of my notes (from yesterday). I’m not really having a great day - the pressure’s so low and I’m soooo tired already (even though it’s just 11am and I’ve drunk like 2 cups of coffee so far). I’ll be continuing the work I’ve assigned myself though (and hopefully get to sleep at a reasonable time).
Lots of love,
H.

A quick update on yesterday’s work - just started reading one of the books on my list (Rousseau’s On the Origin of Language). So far I’ve had to modify the amount of work I have undertaken - trying to do all the assignments and additional work and concepts that are either entirely new to me or really expand my knowledge? Yeah, not possible, ain’t gonna happen this soon in the planning area. I don’t really have that much expertise to be honest. I managed to tackle some basic economic concepts, so if anyone is interested in notes (they aren’t all that pretty, but they at least are functional) - they’re in english, so dw. I’ve been doing further reading and research on basic human physiology - this time focusing on neurons, excitation and the way membrane works (Na, K and all that jazz). Overall, I’m pretty satisfied - I even managed to do some yoga and watch another episode of Penny! Stay tuned!
Lots of love,
H.

P.S - the photos of the notes will be uploaded in the morning - I’m still trying to get my sleep schedule under control

I’ve completed all my set task for the day - ngl, I’m quite pleased with myself. Tomorrow I’ll be tackling some basic economy problems (I’m trying to get ahead of next year’s coursework); I’ll post some notes when I get through the reading (fyi they’re not going to be ‘aesthetic’, that’s not really my area of expertise) I’ve just watched the second episode of Penny Dreadful and I’m absolutely charmed (and my english is improving due to the vocabulary used in the show!!)! As it’s already 11pm I’ll read some more (just leisure this time though) and go to sleep.

This will basically be a self-motivation blog to keep up with my studies, exercise regime and creativity. I’ll be updating photos of my notes, reflections and books only - no need for you to worry about seeing me covered in sweat. If any of you would like to reach out/message me - please do! We can cheer each other on and find new friends in those difficult times.
Lots of love,
H.
