We also were shy of meeting our goals for the last two months so our surplus is dwindling. 
The Simulation Marathon - Small Event Idea currently on the table. A 12-24 Hour marathon with a small fundraising goal for charity. Please start gathering ideas for simulation games, particularly indie ones. 
Writers - We still need you! Game News, Game Reviews, Movie discussions, Mod Reviews, Kickstarter Spotlights, and more. We need your ideas and your fine pens! There's no real red tape, you just need to write something, maybe get a graphic for it and we'll post it! (our new site will make this easier to do in the future). The Qubetubers modded server legacy continues with the New Dawn mod-pack. Everyone previously white-listed on our modded server is invited back to experience the New Dawn with us!
Our previous mod packs were attempts at balancing a modpack, and thus allowing for a more linear and prolonged gameplay, but we've learned that, that is a virtually impossible task, so this time around, we're all about the mods, having fun, trying it all, and not having anything be more tedious than was intended by the mod creator.
This wasn't an easy choice, as we would have loved to actually have some sort of end game in minecraft overall, but with most modded servers, there are a few main mods that are hard to ignore, and a lot of those make resources gathering more or less trivial. So it is impossible to prolong the experience that way. Instead we hope that the range and variety of mods in the pack will keep people playing for a long time. Not because it takes months to “complete” a mod, but because of the variety, and the desire to then try some of the other mods in the pack.
Curious newcomers are more than welcome to leave a little application on our forums.
We will process them as fast as our procrastinating human bodies will allow.

Any modded server is of course made possible by the amazingly creative and idea spouting mod devs that the minecraft community benefits so greatly from, and this server is no exception.
We hope to see old players returning and new players as well. We are both a PG-13 and mature community most of the time, banter is not frowned upon, and we can get rowdy, but we're also a great place for parents to unload their kids and know that they're in good hands..

Super Mario Bros: The Movie - Review by Star_Fists
New York City. A torrent of rain hammers the pavement filling the night air with an eerie sense. A cloaked women dashes across the street with a bundle in her arms. She drops the bundle off at the top of stairs of an orphanage. But as she places the bundle down the blanket falls away revealing a large oval metal capsule shimmering in the faint street light. The women scuttles off before a group of Nuns answer the door. The nuns take the capsule inside the orphanage and place it upon an altar, causing the capsule to open and reveal what looks to be a dinosaur egg. The nuns jump in surprise as they hear inside the egg a faint clicking sound. They all step backwards their faces stricken with fear, the egg hatches open to reveal a newborn baby girl covered in pale green slime.

Based off the Mario video game franchise by Nintendo, Super Mario Bros. attempts to create a believable world infused with the lore of the Mario universe. I was honestly surprised to find out many famous actors played roles in this film. I would have figured that their careers would have ended with this movie. But actors such as Bob Hoskins who played Mario -known for acting in Who framed Roger Rabbit and Hook- and Samantha Mathis starring as Daisy -acted in American Psycho and Broken Arrow- took part in the film and probably saved what little the movie put forth.
As previously stated the movie begins in New York City, where Daisy -the girl who hatched from an egg- is on a construction site digging up fossils. Where in a roundabout way meets up with Mario and Luigi after some of the construction companies thugs threaten to disband the excavation. But Luigi protects her. But the thugs have none of that and sabotage the site by breaking pipes and flood the area. But the dig site is saved by Mario and Luigi who happen to be plumbers. But in the process of fixing the leak Daisy is captured by two random bumbling thugs who jump through a stone wall -similar to that of Platform 9 ¾ from the Harry Potter Series-. Sound crazy yet? Mario and Luigi follow after thugs only to find on the other side of the stone wall an entire city teeming with life. What we find out most of the way through the movie is that the city is actually another world which is ruled by the ancestors of the Dinosaurs. The way the movie explained it was the meteor that we thought killed the dinosaurs actually created two different world. One on which humans thrived and the other one containing dinosaurs. But their world is dying off quickly since they have stripped the entire planet of plants and minerals. So the master of the city known as Koopa wishes to connect the worlds into one, and invade our earth and take our resources.
The entire movie makes everything really awkward, especially if you have ever played or heard of a Mario game. In the games the creatures are cute and seemingly harmless, but the movie turns them into dark depressing psychopaths. Along with that the Mario series is aimed mainly at children, but the movie makes random scenes oddly and unnecessarily sexual. For example a character named Big Bertha runs a club and Mario has to dance with her in order to obtain a necklace. Mario ends up trying to bite the necklace off of her which looks wrong in this circumstance.

The most impressive aspect of the movie is probably the living world that was created; the city feels like a city. The different people that Mario and Luigi run into could have been real people. They make the city feel what people would expect New York to be like, thieves around every corner, dark, and dirty. One of the aspects that really stood out were the cars, they followed the trolley type, where they get power from the lines above. Since Fossil fuels don’t exist on this planet. But because of the dingy destroyed world the motors have been modified to accept electricity and because of that they shoot sparks everywhere.
There are two type of people who I believe would love to watch this movie, those who have played any Mario games, or people who love watching terrible movies. The movie is filled with subpar acting, more than often terrible dialogue, and awful representation of beloved video game characters. I personally had a great laugh watching the movie, and watching it with my family made the experience that much better when we ragged on it. Super Mario Bros can give many people a good laugh.

Sir, You are being Hunted - Early Assessment by Star_Fists

Sir, I regret to inform you that you have been trapped on an island. The experiment went a bit wonky and teleported sir out of my range of power. So sir unfortunately we must postpone our dinner plans indefinitely. But all hope is not lost sir, you can get off the island. There are giant stone pillars where parts of the experiment can be placed to teleport you back. The parts of said experiment sir are scattered across the surrounding islands and are still quite hot from the explosion. So if you would follow the smoke. Oh and Sir, you are being hunted.

This game is all high class and terror. Never thought I would be scared of a top hat wearing robot, or a teleporting scarecrow. Sir, You Are Being Hunted is one of those games that throws you on the edge of your seat and makes hold your breath in fear as you crouch in the grass when you hear even the slightest metallic beep. The game barely gives you any means of taking on your predators. I was only ever able to obtain bottles and rocks which you were able to throw to distract the enemies and send them in the other direction.
Sir, You are being Hunted could be an excellent game, but in it’s current state it barely offers enough for one play through. I found after about 15mins of crouching around that the fear wore off and I just sprinted around to the stones and hide when the need arises. All credit to them the scarecrow robot messed me up good. As soon as they brought that thing out I went back into hiding for another 15mins.

The atmosphere in the game is terrifying you can only hear yourself breath, footsteps, and the faint beeping of machinery. The art style just adds to that creepy vibe you get from the audio. The robots are very cartoony and light hearted, but have just enough of the threat/creepy factor for you to stay as far away as you can. The environment is huge spanning across five different islands, giving the player a sense of being alone.
But unfortunately the game really only has a one time play through at the current time, and as I said earlier you lose the scare factor very fast. I struggled to keep playing, there was no sense of achievement throughout the entire process. Just a little blue circle telling you how far you’ve gotten. I found the enjoyment of the game lasted maybe 40 minutes? Again I want to stress this is in Alpha and as with all early assessments things are bound to change. Hopefully for the better.

Qubetubers New Minecraft server is LIVE !

It has been a long wait, and lots of people have abandoned the server, but we’re finally ready, and we’re hoping that you’ll all come check it out, and give us a chance to show you that both the reset and the wait were not in vain.
Some people, and going by votes that would be the majority, wanted a fresh started. We of course hope that you were sincere about that, and chose to come play on the Qubetubers SMP again. As for the people that didn’t like the idea of a reset, I know we swayed some of you after explaining the pros and cons to doing this, and we’re all looking forward to playing with you guys.
The people that were deeply against the reset and fresh start, I am/was one of them, I still haven’t completely made up my mind about how I feel about it all, BUT I had a lot of unfinished things, I had a lot of things that I could do better, be it with new blocks, or just me getting better at building over the years, but dreading tearing stuff down to rebuild it, I am looking forward to starting over on those things. I’ll miss my hoarded items, but I’ll enjoy mining and gathering it all again. Thinking back, mining was what I did most, and I enjoyed it. Till that point in time where you would never need to mine again, so I didn’t. And I probably do miss needing to.
I had everything, and so did a lot of other people, I still did things, but it might have been less exciting. And I may still be sad about it, but I am now excited about starting over, starting over with new blocks, new features, new ways of doing things.
From the days of Central City that we all thought was awesome, to a guy who can now see how, not utter crap at building, because it was not bad, but we can just do so much better now, now that we’ve had years to improve, and have new blocks to play with. I really hope that we see you guys, the people really against the reset, back on the server, come explore the new things in minecraft, the new people that hopefully will find our server, and stick around. Come tell us the tales of your first diamond pickaxe and the shit enchant that you end up with on it =)

Brand new hub system. Our hub is now the central gateway to specific servers, Survival, Creative, PvP, Events.
/spawn is now world specific, while /hub is replacing the more centralized “spawn”
An all new portal system, coded by our very own CyaNox! These portals differ from our old portal plugin, allowing for free-form gate design.
An easy to use teleport system.
Only two commands, /tp and /s.
Teleportation has a 5 second cooldown timer, meaning you can’t cheat yourself out of nasty situations with teleporting.
Jumpads!
An all new land claim system!
Your first claim is as simple as placing a chest in the wilderness.
Available claim sizes grow the longer you are on the *specific server.
Claim sizes are server specific. For example, if you play a whole lot on the survival server, but don’t play much on the creative server, your allowed amount of claimed blocks would be greater than your allowed claim blocks on the creative server!
The new claim system has video tutorials!
Homes are more balanced!
Setting your home in survival requires you to sleep in a bed at night, while setting your home in creative is as simple as /sethome

The Qubetubers SMP has been overhauled, but will at the time of the public launch be no where near completed. A lot of work has been put into getting it off the ground, but is still basically at a bare minimum.
Lots of features are not yet ready. We’re probably hovering around a 20-25% completed project.
At the time of writing, the more notable features that have been planned are listed below.
Now, don’t think that this is going to be the whole server, the features released with the server on release don’t amount to 50% of what’s going to be added later on! Here’s a list of what you can expect as the server progresses.
More worlds! Including a void world, an events world, and by popular demand, a regen world!

The future of the QT SMP spawn is going to be a medieval themed city, we know it’s been done loads of place. but not on our server. We’re including a basic layout in the image below, everything else is up for interpretation as long as it’s within the theme. Nothing has been built yet, as we’d love for it to be done in survival mode. Consistency across the entire area would be really appreciated. Show us what you can do in a creative area, doesn’t have to be anything grand, but we’d love a general idea of your building skills.

Qubetubers Winter-thingy Giveaway!
Want to get steam games, or are in the giving mood since Santa injected you with candy cane dust? Well Qubetubers is hosting a giveaway where you have the chance to do both!

Legend of Dungeon - Review by Star_Fists
Legend of Dungeon is a randomly generated dungeon crawler. In which you have one life to get as far as you can, or hopefully reach the coveted treasure on the 26th floor. The art style reminds me a little bit of Fez, but with an incredible lighting engine. The lighting in is incredible giving the dungeons an eerie vibe and the sense of going deeper and deeper into the dungeons. The soundtrack added to the suspense adding a sense of foreboding as if they are telling you “You will die here.” Which is more than true while playing through I was only ever able to get to level 7.

While I wasn’t busy dying I was trying to prevent so with the games real time battle system. Fighting was lacking in the feedback and power. My little stick arms flailed with a sword back and forth hoping that I would hit the snake that was dealing me hefty damage. The feedback that we were doing damage were flashing particles, and a beeping sound when you dealt out a hit. Just a beep, no clang or swoosh, just a beep. This made me after awhile felt like killing enemies was a chore. Also attacking was extremely difficult due to the angle of the camera. It gave me no depth perception of where the enemy was in relation to me, making me look like an idiot swinging wildly the air.
Speaking of depth perception there were certain “puzzles” I guess you could say where I was required to jump from point A to point B. Since the game has an odd angle I would vainly hope as I jumped that I would land on the platform and not into the lava below. Let’s just say more often than not I would start over in the bar.
The game offers a gigantic selection of droppable items. Which is the games only source of progression. This is probably the games strongest quality, since each run you have new tools at your disposal. Sometimes you get the luck of the draw and get amazing items, or the short end of the and die on the first floor *cough*. With the items you start digging into the games humor, for instance at one point I found a Pharaoh’s headdress and was beating down zombies with a sickle.

As previously stated the games only “progression” I saw was picking up items from fallen enemies. I saw no use for the copious amounts of gold I picked up. Don’t get me wrong you do level up in a flash of rainbow fireworks, which gives you more HP from what I saw. But there was no sense I was getting more powerful. I so desperately wanted to see a menu where you could level up skills, but no such luck. I just wanted to feel like I was indeed doing something worthwhile.
Legend of Dungeon is in that inbetween phase of of good and meh. It’s decent in the sense of the dungeon crawling/roguelike genre. You’ll be doing a lot of crawling, all over your floor cursing that snake. But it’s the little things that draw away from the experience. For me I wanted power in my hits, I want to feel the hit and experience it. Not to mention the camera angle set me back a few lives and I still haven’t got used to it. Also the lack of feeling like I was progressing put me off. If you can indeed get past the issues, then Legend of Dungeon is indeed the game for you.

Starbound Update Has Hit! Expect Additional Wipes!
Hello QubeTubers!
If you aren't already aware, we do have a Starbound server! Plop in 'qubetubers.com' into your server address  bar in starbound to join us! We're friendly and welcoming and try to keep it PG-13ish. Feel free to also come hangout with us at www.qubetubers.com/chatroom or if you have any questions!
The latest Starbound patch has left many players groaning, given it involved a complete character wipe. I believe in the games current phase, we as a community need to make every effort to be supportive and not hold the developers back by crying about wipes (to them at least!).  I was chilling in on playstarbound.com over the past few days and their forums are a rift with players asking that there be no more wipes for awhile---so that would tie the hands of the developers from making progress, you know? Along with arguments that Windows XP should be an OS that never dies...
So, the update's here aaaand expect ANOTHER character wipe! Prepare yourselves! Screenshot all that you love!
Both on Twitter and Facebook the Dev's have warned that another wipe is incoming...Here's Facebook
The update's out! Characters were wiped. Sorry! We did warn that that would happen during the first stage of beta. Here's the thing, though: Weapon damage was broken somewhere along the way, and the patch we're going to push to fix it is probably also going to have to wipe character saves. Massive apologies for that. Beta problems, yknow? Thank you for your understanding and patience!
So, what's included in the latest update? Here's a few things and you can read the rest in the changelog on your starbound loading screen! (Scroll down!)

Full Mojo Rampage - Early Assessment by Star_Fists
While playing I found the controls to be pretty sound the visuals astounding. But the sounds didn't have oomf. At certain points the entire screen would be exploding and lights flashing but nothing more than a pew pew was heard. I also found that the best wand was the original wand. The other wands were more powerful but ran out very fast. If the devs put more time into the sound design and weapon choices/balance then they will have a fantastic game.

High-expectations from this little known title already by Hellogames, makers of Joe Danger. They're a studio with just 4 developers, but at least one popular title under their belt from what I can see.
If you take the time to visit the games official website, you find nothing but the logo screen and a contact button (their mail service is down upon writing this, according to their twitter). Mysterious!
The game appears to be an exploration game on a massive scale. The video itself is pretty phenomenal and has been said to have stolen the show at the VGX Awards where the above trailer made its debut.

Lumini Early Access Alpha - Review by JennyLeeP

Description
Lumini  - is a 2.5D sidescrolling action/adventure game created by Speelbaars , an Indie company from The Netherlands.  The main character is a swarm or group of cute fish like creatures known as the Lumini.
Lumini are the inhabitants of an alien planet, that they share with all sorts of dangerous and hostile critters. It is your task to guide them through this beautiful, yet harsh, environment and bring them to safety.
During your travels you may painfully lose some of your swarm members, but do not despair. At several points in the game you can breed and possibly get more powerful Lumini, at the mysterious crystals, that seem to attract your sturdy friends.
The end goal is to help the Lumini safely migrate to a new safer world, where  they can thrive.

Features:
Lumini is built on top of the Unity Game engine.
Can be run in many different resolutions in windowed or windowless modes.
Has partial controller support on PC and even recommends the use of a controller.

Thoughts:
The textures and environment are beautiful, well executed for this type of puzzle game.  The music and environmental sounds are again very beautiful adding to the feeling of serenity and peace.  That is until you encounter a red object / creature, where the music can change and become much more dramatic.
The splitting of the swarm for puzzles and challenges is very unique, forcing you to use 2 hands to control the different swarms.  Those that are ambidextrous will have an easier time with this, or a properly setup controller that allows you to use 1 analog stick per swarm.
Platforms and availability:
Lumini is currently in Alpha stages, uncertain yet what platforms this will be available on, but since it is built on top of Unity, that may give a few clues. 
  Final thoughts: 
Keeping in mind that this game is very early on in development, it was still very enjoyable. Character movement is smooth and navigating through the environment was effortless.   In my opinion the challenges could be tougher and less obvious what needs to be avoided.  That or the target age demographic should be for a younger audience.   I do feel this game looks to be a very enjoyable one, and I will be keeping my eyes on it in the future.
Looking forward to what Speelbaars has to offer.
  I am not going to give this game a rating yet, too early in its development.  Though based on looks and sounds, I would give it 9/10 Qubes

Game Dev Story - Review by Star_Fists
I am not one for mobile games. Mostly due to the fact I really don’t have a “smart” phone. I usually enjoy sitting in front of a computer for hours on end for my gaming experience. But while I eat or sit on the toilet is fair game for game developers. Currently that time has been occupied by a game called “Game Dev Story.” Available on iOS and android.
Description:
In Game Dev Story you take control of a small indie studio in hopes to one day make it big in the industry. You are the head of the company deciding what type of games you should make, level up your employees so that they can make better games, and give your employees drugs to keep them awake! You know normal boss behavior…

History:
Game Dev Story was released in Japan in 1997 on PC, and was developed by Kairosoft. They made such other games as The Sushi Spinnery and World Cruise Story. Game Dev Story was ported over in 2010 for both iOS and Android devices. The game was a smash hitting the top 10 list on the iOS store.
Features:
The game is a simulation based game where you take control of a small studio. You must manage funds, employees, and creating the best game you possibly can. You travel through the years creating games for consoles that come out such as the Game Kid, PlayStatus, and the Intrendo DM. The player chooses can choose the genre of game and what the game will be based off of.

Thoughts:
I can’t speak for how factual this game is to running an actual game dev studio. But Game Dev Story is very addicting none the less. It’s one of those games where you can just kick back and mindlessly lose hours of your life, until your butt gets sore from sitting on the toilet too long. The game’s graphics have a certain charm to them I find add to the whole feel of the game. As the sounds and music, they get annoying fast. Especially the constant tune that plays every time you hit a development cycle. Personally I just turned off the tunes and cracked up some of my own music. I found the game genuinely difficult at times. The game itself has a nice curve in difficulty.
Final Thoughts:
Game Dev Story is a great game besides the soundtrack and sound effects. But that’s easily fixed with the mute button. One thing I want to bring to your attention is the end game leaves something to be desired you can continue the game but it just ends after the last console comes out. Leaving much to be desired, like the PC counterpart Game Dev Tycoon you can create your own console.
I give Game Dev Story  7/10 Qubes.

Warning to the Reader: This is an early assessment of Rimworld. This game will destroy your time. If you have loved ones, class, and/or a social life. Please take necessary precautions before you delve into Rimworld. Tell your loved ones goodbye for the next six months, drop out of class, and tell your friends you’re going to go hermit, they’ll understand.

    Rimworld was recently Kickstarted and received over $250,000, the original goal was only $20,000. Needless to say a lot of people are excited about the game. I also being one of those people. Having just downloaded the game today I started playing and before I knew it my ninth settlement was destroyed in a firefight with raiders. At this point I realized I hadn’t eaten lunch and went to get some food only to realize eight hours had passed. I had missed lunch and dinner. The last game that made me skip meals without noticing was Minecraft, and we all know how popular that was.

    The game is based around the expansion of humanity across the universe. You’ve been assigned to create and maintain a settlement on the rim of the universe hence the name Rimworld. But with the expansion of humanity means that space is the wild west. Anything goes so you’ll find yourself being attacked and raid by pirates seeking people or resources. But if you succeed fighting off the enemies you can capture some of them and persuade them into joining the settlement. Having it be easier to build things. But at the risk of being invaded by twice as many bloodthirsty pirates.
    Rimworld is one of those games where you whisper under your breath. “I only need…” and the chain continues. I only need this to get this so I can do this! There is so much you need to do in order to create a working settlement. Each world is randomly generated so each time you have a new story you’ll create.The game draws you nicely starting you off with just enough resources to create a basic camp. Speaking of camp, You can design your base how ever you want. The first few times I played I burrowed into the mountains only to find out that ceilings can collapse. Remember kids support structures like walls can save your life. I then tried to wall myself off in a canyon only to find myself cornered by pirates who had blown up my turrets. My last base was struck by lightning, by the way lightning HUGE problem you need to deal with ASAP. My base caught on fire and spread quickly, when I sent my settlers to deal with the fire one of them caught on fire and began running around like a lunatic. I eventually figured out I could put him out with one of the other settlers. But no one told me if I tried to put the fire out on that guy would the not on fire guy have a chance of catching on fire. Soon my whole base was a flame and my settlers burned to death. Guess stop drop and roll isn’t a thing.

    I don’t want to spoil anymore then that. Truly though the reason this is a short assessment is because I want to go back and play more. This game is going to be amazing. I would say next minecraft but this is a little bit more niche. If you have enjoyed dwarf fortress, prison architect, and FTL(Faster Than Light) you are going to have a blast. If I could rate an early assessment, I would rate this game 10/10 qubes and my double fist of approval. You really need to look into buying this game.

Introducing....Castle Story! I love this game and I've only had it for a few hours now. Its like an RTS meets TD!  It was a kickstarter game, with a goal of 70k I believe but reached over 800k! That was about a year ago and its' currently available as an 'early access' on Steam for 20 bucks.
