the way K-drama descriptions can be so serious like "He's caught in a political web, and he will do anything to get out"
And the most serious descriptions will actually end up being the most tender romance about true love beating the odds with a nice dash of angst and a surprisingly funny script.
or it will sound super ridiculous and off-the-wall like "After school she works at a chicken shop, until one day she meets a boy in a band who secretly collects pens and they get sent to the future."
And the craziest, most random descriptions will end up being the most heart-breaking story about separation and loss and acceptance and found family that makes you cry in episode one.
While the most cliche ones will be like "A CEO is sad about something, and a woman dreams of something more" or something super cliche,
And it will be the most melodramatic, craziest plot with amnesia and fate and archenemies.
THEY NEVER ADVERTISE THE GOOD STUFF ON THE FRONT. YOU JUST HAVE TO TRUST IT.

taejin ao3 event
gearing up for our first mini-event of 2024, and we were originally planning a "midsummer magic"... thing, but i've had interest from several writers in doing a taejin movie au theme.
which do you prefer?

i want to coin a phrase that's the opposite of writer's block. call it the muse's fire hydrant. thirty thousand story ideas are being beamed directly into your brain and if you don't write them all at once you will die.

Person: what are you doing?
Me: not reading the work of a stranger on the internet interpreting the relationship between the protagonists of an established media series by thrusting them into unrealistic situations in which they for some unknown reason have intense gay sex that’s for certain

Something that's been knocking around in my head for a while: I think a lot of new writers get thrown off by their assumption that writing will be anything like reading. Reading is a dreamy, passive experience--scenes, dialogue, and description flow over you as you are taken under the writer's spell. Writing, on the other hand (with the exception, sometimes, of the first draft), is the laborious, almost mechanical-like task of putting narrative elements together so that the reader can lose themselves in your story. In short, reading and writing are very different experiences, and the assumption that they will be, or even should be, the same, is cause for much angst among new and experienced writers alike. It's a frustrating thing, because a love of reading is usually what gets people interested in writing in the first place. I've been writing for several decades and I still feel confounded by this clash--it's part of why I don't read much when I'm deep into my writing, and vice versa. And when I am writing, I constantly have to remind myself: Writing is not watching a magic show. Writing is figuring out how to smuggle the rabbit into the hat.

FOUND family??? you think i just found them like this??? babes this is FORGED family. Me & the bros were scrap metal in a junkyard (very valuable, very sharp, very dangerous, uncared for) and we GOT IN THE FUCKING FIRE TOGETHER. WE did this. we said I AM NOT LEAVING YOU and melted into each other for better or for worse (it’s for better) and we are A FUNCTIONAL UNIT now. DO NOT SEPARATE. BATTERIES FUCKING INCLUDED. FOUND family my ass, we built this non-nuclear family unit from the ground up, don’t devalue this!!! it was is and will be a labour of love!!!
