Destiny Calling: Chapter Eleven
Tumblr media
Gandalf was once again guiding you all, riding on horseback through the forest. War survivors of Helm Deep rode with you, talking amongst themselves. You shared the horse with Aragorn, sitting behind him. "I wish we didn't have to ride so much." you muttered. "You're only saying that because your horse threw you when you came to Edoras." Legolas said. "Keep it up and I'll throw you." you huffed, earning a chuckle from Aragorn. "So you all thought Merry and Pippin were dead?" You asked, after being explained the story. "Aragorn kicked a helmet at least forty feet." Gimli said. "He did?" You asked, looking over at him. "I was in distress." he admitted. "So you kicked a helmet?" You asked. "Might I add that you do not think logically when in distress?" Aragorn reasoned. You felt more tired as you approached to wherever Gandalf was taking you. Which was odd. This wasn't quite near Mordor, near corruption to make you tired... So why were you feeling this way now?
You heard laughing, looking forward to see your friends sitting on a broken wall smoking from a pipe. "It’s good. Definitely from the Shire. Longbottom Leaf." Merry said. Pippin nodded. "I feel like I’m back at the Green Dragon." Pippin said. "Green Dragon." Merry said, reminiscing of his times in the Shire that seemed so long ago. "A mug of ale in my hand. Putting my feet up on a settle after a hard day’s work." Pippin said. "Only, you’ve never done a hard day’s work." Merry teased, laughter coming from both of them.
Merry smiled at you all. "Welcome, my lord, to Isengard!" Merry greeted. "You young rascals! A merry hunt you’ve led us on, and now we find you, feasting and… smoking!" Gimli huffed. "We are sitting on a field of victory, enjoying a few well-earned comforts. The salted pork is particularly good." Pippin said triumphantly. "Salted pork?" Gimli asked. Gandalf shook his head disapprovingly. "Hobbits." Gandalf sighed. "We’re under orders, from Treebeard, who’s taken over management of Isengard." Merry said.
Pippin finally looked at you. "...I thought you left with Frodo?" He said confused. "I did. I was forced to turn back." you admitted. "Any reason as to why?" Merry asked, recalling that determination he witnessed to keep Frodo safe. "The corruption of the lands was killing her." Gandalf said. You nodded, sweat beading on your brow due to the exact problem that Gandalf was speaking of. "Let's talk to Treebeard shall we?" you said, ignoring the odd exhaustion that was hitting you. Gandalf nodded, though he kept an eye on you.
You rode near Orthanc, Treebeard greeting them. "Young Master Gandalf. I’m glad you’ve come. Wood and water, stock and stone I can master. But there is a Wizard to manage here, locked in his tower." Treebeard said. "Show yourself." Aragorn whispered. You tapped Aragorn's shoulder. "Water. Please." you muttered. He reached for his pack. "no...Mine." you muttered. He rose a brow, lifting your water canteen. It was full of water from a fountain in Rivendell.
Something to know about the water in the elven cities is that it is one of the purest things anyone can drink. How that is so is uncertain, but even your father knew that. Elrond insisted you take it with you in case something like this began to happen. You brought it to your lips, drinking it. It was cold, but revivifying as you closed it. "Thank you." you said, him noticing the sweat on your brow.
"Be careful. Even in defeat, Saruman is dangerous." Gandalf said, cutting Aragorn's attention away from you. "Well, let’s just have his head and be done with it." Gimli said. "No. We need him alive. We need him to talk." Gandalf halted. Éomer looked over, saying nothing to Gandalf about this. "You have fought many wars and slain many men, Théoden King." Saruman revealed himself on top of the tower.  "And made peace afterwards. Can we not take counsel together as we once did, my old friend? Can we not have peace, you and I?" Saruman asked, Théoden coming forward. "We shall have peace. We shall have peace when you answer for the burning of the Westfold and the children that lie dead there! We shall have peace when the lives of the soldiers whose bodies were hewn even as they lay dead against the gates of the Hornburg, are avenged! When you hang from a gibbet for the sport of your own crows, we shall have peace." Théoden said with anger.
"Gibbets and crows? Dotard! What do you want, Gandalf Greyhame? Let me guess. The key of Orthanc. Or perhaps the Keys of Barad-dur itself along with the crowns of the seven kings and the rods of the Five Wizards!" Saruman spat. "Your treachery has already cost many lives. Thousands more are at risk. But you can save them, Saruman. You were deep in the enemy’s counsel." Gandalf said. "So you have come here for information. I have some for you." Saruman sighed. He lifted a dark orb, looking into it. "Something festers in the heart of Middle-Earth. Something that you have failed to see. But the Great Eye has seen it. Even now he presses his advantage. His attack will come soon. You’re all going to die." Saruman said. You frowned.
Gandalf approached the base of Orthanc. "But you know this, don’t you, Gandalf? You cannot think that this Ranger will ever sit upon the throne of Gondor. This exile, crept from the shadows, will never be crowned king. Gandalf does not hesitate to sacrifice those closest to him, those he professes to love. Tell me, what words of comfort did you give the Halfling before you sent him to his doom? The path that you have set him on can only lead to death." Saruman said. "I’ve heard enough!" Gimli muttered. "Shoot him. Stick an arrow in his gob." Gimli encouraged. You wanted the same fate for Saruman at the moment. "No. Come down, Saruman, and your life will be spared." Gandalf said. "Save your pity and your mercy. I have no use for it!" Saruman yelled. Saruman sent a fireball down, attempting to harm Gandalf but failing. "Saruman, your staff is broken." Gandalf said, frowning at the foe that was once his friend.
Saruman's staff broke, many pieces flying from the sudden bust. Grima appeared next to the wizard. "Grima, you need not follow him. You were not always as you are now. You were once a Man of Rohan. Come down." Theoden said. "A Man of Rohan? What is the house of Rohan but a thatched barn where brigands drink in the reek and their brats roll on the floor with the dogs? The victory at Helm’s Deep does not belong to you, Théoden Horse-master. You are a lesser son of greater sires." Saruman said. "Grima, come down. Be free of him." Théoden encouraged. "Free? He will never be free." Saruman spat. "No." Grima said, his voice small as he spoke. "Get down, cur!" Saruman yelled, smacking Grima over. "Saruman! You were deep in the enemy’s counsel. Tell us what you know!" Gandalf interrogated. Grima drew a dagger, looking to the wizard before him in anger. "You withdraw your guard, and I will tell you where your doom will be decided. I will not be held prisoner here." Saruman yelled.
Grima jumped forward, stabbing Saruman before Legolas fired an arrow, killing Grima. Saruman's body fell from the tower, impaling itself onto one of his own mechanisms. You grimaced, looking away from the gruesome sight. "Send word to all our allies, and to every corner of Middle-Earth that still stands free. The enemy moves against us. We need to know where he will strike." Gandalf declared. The spiked wheel turned, Saruman's body falling into the waters. His orb fell from his robes into the water. "The filth of Saruman is washing away. Trees will come back to live here. Young trees. Wild trees." Treebeard said, you smiling at this. "May their young voices fill your forest soon." You said. Treebeard seemed to appreciate hearing this and smiled at you.
Pippin walked through the water, picking up the orb. "Pippin!" Aragorn called. "Bless my bark!" Treebeard gaped. "Peregrin Took! I’ll take that, my lad. Quickly now." Gandalf said. He wrapped the orb in his cloak, the riders finally returning to Edoras.
You held your lover close, both hands hugging him from behind. You were thankful that he had lived through the Battle at Helm's Deep, remembering your fallen friend who was not so lucky. Your men had returned home, bidding you farewell and encouraging you to reach out to nature if you needed them again. You felt strangely okay, being away from home for so long. Perhaps many comments of the road being your home was true. Or maybe you were holding onto what felt like home right now. Aragorn's hand held yours as you rode in silence. No words were needed to voice how thankful you both were for the other's presence.
As you arrived in Edoras, Éowyn stood in the hall, a large crowd behind her. She was holding a cup, bowing to Théoden before handing it to him. "Tonight we remember those who gave their blood to defend this country. Hail the victorious dead!" Théoden said. "Hail!" The crowd yelled back.
You walked but Éowyn halted you. "Mind if I steal her for a moment?" Éowyn asked. Aragorn pressed a kiss to your head before you went off with Éowyn. "What did you need?" You asked. "It is not what I need Lady Y/n, it is what you need." She said with a chuckle. You followed her to a room, her telling you to sit on a bed while she dug through a wardrobe. "Which one?" She asked, holding up to dresses. You grimaced. "Can't I stay in my armor?" You asked. "Your armor needs repairing and is covered in Orc's blood. Come now, they aren't that bad!" She said. You had to admit, the dresses Éowyn were presenting to you were simpler than the ones Arwen made you wear. You sighed, pointing to the green one. She smiled and set it down. "Need help with your armor?" She asked. "If you do not mind." you nodded.
She assisted you in the removal of the major pieces, stopping at the sight of Aragorn's ring around your neck. "What is this?" She asked, knowing damn well what the artifact was. "It is Aragorn's. We parted a few months back... He wanted me to wear it as a reminder that someone was fighting for me outside of where I was going." you explained. She nodded slowly. You removed your clothes. You turned your back to her, her seeing the scars. "You have many scars." She noticed. "I've had many journeys." You said, Éowyn assisting you with the dress. You sighed, brushing it out. "You look lovely!" She said with a smile. You chuckled. "You would get along with my sister." You said. "You have a sister?" She asked as she sat you back down. "And two brothers." you nodded. "Uhm... Lady Éowyn, might I ask what you're doing?" you asked. "Just because you charge with men does not mean you have to share the looks of one." Éowyn said, brushing out your hair.
You didn't mind this. It was like a more zen version of Arwen who was usually encouraging to things like this to an absurd degree. "What is life like in... Uhm-" "Rivendell?" you asked. She nodded, taking hair from each side of your head in the front. "It's peaceful. Very calm. Serene." You said. "Sounds like it wasn't the life for you." Éowyn noticed by your tone as she braided your hair. "It really wasn't.." You agreed. "But Aragorn?" She asked, a smile coming onto your lips. "You love that man, I can tell." She said. "Indeed I do Lady Éowyn, indeed I do." you laughed. She smiled as you stood up. "Now, you look beautiful." She said. "Come, let us show the men that we have them bested in one thing." You said. "And what's that?" She asked. "Basic decency." You said, earning a giggle from her as you both walked out.
Aragorn stood against a pillar, watching Legolas (attempt to) play a drinking game. "There you are! And Lady Y/n, you look beautiful!" Théoden said, you smiling at the clearly drunk king. Aragorn looked over, his eyes widening. You waved a small goodbye to Éowyn as you walked over to Aragorn. "What, pray tell, have I done to deserve to see you in such a beautiful manner?" Aragorn asked. "An hour. You get this for one hour." you said. You looked over at your friend.
"What’ll we drink to? Let’s drink to victory! To victory!" A man yelled. Gimli chugged his mug and Legolas carefully sipped it, making you smirk. "You can take the man out of a prince but you cannot take the prince out of a man." you said making Aragorn smile. "Any messages from Elrond?" Aragorn asked. You nodded. "I got one simple one from Haldir when we were on the wall, he said you'd know what it meant." you said. Aragorn rose a brow. "He said 'You do not require the claim any longer, you proved to him on skill alone.'" you recalled, watching the party around you. Aragorn swallowed hard.
This was referring to a conversation the man had with the elf. Elrond told Aragorn that if he was to wed you, he'd have to make a claim for the throne of Gondor. It was a way to "permanently" cut Aragorn off from attempting it again. Elrond assumed that he would never actually make a claim to Gondor, so hearing this made Aragorn surprised. Aragorn had proven to be reliable to you through skill alone, not by status.
"Here, here. It’s the Dwarves that go swimming with little, hairy women." Gimli said, belching right afterwards. You resisted a snort, looking at the dwarf. "Gimli will never change." you said, shaking your head before noticing Aragorn's gaze was locked onto you. "What?" You asked. "Nothing... You're just very beautiful tonight." Aragorn said to you. You chuckled. "Have I mentioned that I do enjoy seeing you have a nice time?" You asked. "Are you trying to get me drunk?" He asked, you laughing. "No, but I encourage you to have fun!" You said. He brushed the already loose strands of hair away from your face. "I am enjoying myself right where I am." He told you. Éowyn offered you a mug. "Only if you drink as well." You told her. She turned around lifting a mug off the table, handing another one to Aragorn. He took it, looking at the two women. "What do we cheer to?" You asked. "Hmm... May we live to see more days as bright as this one!" Éowyn said. You nodded, drinking the ale from the mug. Unlike Legolas you had actually drank ale before. Staying in inns where it was a common drink or occasionally, the only option.
"I feel something. A slight tingle in my fingers. I think it’s affecting me." Legolas said. "What did I say? He can’t hold his liquor." Gimli said before falling back into the floor. Ale almost shot from your nose as you laughed, men helping the poor drunk bastard up. "Game over." Legolas stated in his usually calm demeanor.
Soon Merry and Pippin joined the fun, dancing and singing on a table. "Oh you can search far and wide, You can drink the whole town dry, But you’ll never find a beer so brown, As the one we drink in our hometown." They sang, Gandalf now standing with you and Aragorn. "You can drink your fancy ales, You can drink ‘em by the flagon, But the only brew for the brave and true," Pippin looked over at Gandalf, wavering a little. "Pippin!" Merry said. Pippin looked over at his (clearly drunk) friend. "But the only brew for the brave and true, Comes from The Green Dragon!" They finished, chugging down the drinks as fast as they could. "Thank you! I win!" Merry said, making you chuckle.
You couldn't help but feel... guilty. Knowing that Sam and Frodo were in danger somewhere in the mountains while you all were drinking and dancing. "No news of Frodo?" You asked Gandalf. "No word. Nothing." Gandalf replied. "We have time. Every day, Frodo moves closer to Mordor." Aragorn said. "Do we know that?" Gandalf asked. "What does your heart tell you?" Aragorn asked. "That Frodo is alive. Yes. Yes, he’s alive." a small amount of relief fell over you before you gripped the column. Gandalf rose a brow and Aragorn put a soothing hand to your back.
"Corruption is spreading... Your life is in danger." Your father's voice warned. "How do I stop it?" you asked. "It is not something you can stop... It is up to the ring master to do so." He said. "Then how do I keep illness at bay?" you asked. "Water from the fountains of home" He said before you leaned up. "Y/n?" Aragorn asked. You swallowed, looking at him. "...I should get some air." You said, moving past both men. You stood outside, letting the air flow through you. The voices of nature seemed... Even louder than before.
Your father was right....
You were dying.

Destiny Calling: Chapter Ten
Tumblr media
"You could have picked a better spot." Gimli said as he struggled to see past the wall. "Well, lass, whatever luck you live by, let’s hope it lasts the night." He said to you. "Your friends are with you." Legolas said to you and Aragorn. "Let’s hope they last the night." Gimli said. A crash of thunder made you look up. You felt a droplet of water on your face. You looked back to see the Orcish armies all standing ready for an attack. You and Aragorn walked alongside each other, him being insistent you not separate from him.
"A Eruchîn, ú-dano i faelas a hyn an uben tanatha le faelas. (Show them no mercy, for you shall receive none!)" Aragorn yelled. You looked at the elvish soldiers around you. They stood with that stone cold demeanor you used to make fun of. Now you understood why they were like that. They mustn't show fear. The opposing army let out a yell, ceasing movement from where they stood. "What’s happening out there?" Gimli asked. "Shall I describe it to you? Or would you like me to find you a box?" Legolas asked. Gimli laughed and the army slammed their spears down, growling at the soldiers. Aragorn drew his sword, you already having yours drawn and ready. Gimli jumped, attempting to see what was happening. An elder with a bow released too early, killing an orc with a stray arrow. "Dartho! (hold!)" Aragorn halted. The orc hit by the stray arrow fell, earning a growl from another orc before it hit its armor. The forces charged and you stood next Aragorn.
"Tangado a chadad! (Prepare to fire!)" You yelled. "Tangado a chadad! (Prepare to fire!)" Aragorn relayed, louder for the other archers. The elves all drew their bows, aiming at the orcs. "Faeg i-varv dîn na lanc a nu ranc. (Their armour is weak at the neck, and beneath the arm.)" Legolas said to a few of the elves around him. You watched the forces, cupping your hands to make louder noise as you commanded your forces. "Hado i philinn! (Release Arrows!) You yelled. They released their arrows, taking a wave out of the orcs.
"Give them a volley." Théoden said, the men now drawing their bows. "Fire!" Gamling commanded. Another soldier relayed the command. "Fire!" More arrows flew, hitting the orcs. "Hado ribed!(Hurl to flow!)" You instructed the lower forces, their arrows flying overhead to hit their unseen targets. Crossbows were brought from the other side, striking your soldiers down. You looked over the wall and frowned. "Aragorn te're using pendraith.(Aragorn, they're using ladders)." You said, backing away with your swords drawn. "Pendraith! (Ladders!)" Aragorn yelled. "Swords!" You and Aragorn yelled in unison. He shook his head with a smile at you. "That's my girl." He muttered making you smile.
An orc attempted to breech the wall, Gimli dealing them a cruel hand as he brought down his axe. Aragorn dodged a blow from an orc, you killing it. Haldir brought down a few near the ladders. One knocked down Aragorn, you immediately killing it. "Not today." you huffed, pulling Aragorn up. Screams of war filled the air around you, the smell of blood becoming very strong.
"Legolas! Two already!" Gimli shouted to Legolas. "I’m on seventeen!" Legolas yelled. "Twenty!" You yelled to the men making them both smile. Aragorn chuckled, shaking his head as you fought next to him in amusement. "I’ll have no pointy-ears outscoring me!" Gimli exclaimed, killing another orc as it climbed over. Legolas struck two more. "Nineteen!" Legolas yelled. Aragorn kicked down a ladder, it falling onto orcs below
The Battle of Helm's deep raged on, you fighting hard the entire time. Maybe it was that Elven resolve so many men talked about. Or maybe it was the desire to keep your lover safe. Théoden noticed whatever it was, watching you keep others safe, especially any younger fighters near you.
"Seventeen! Eighteen! Nineteen! Twenty! Twenty-one! Twenty-two!" You heard Gimli call out. You frowned. "They're making a shield wall." you said to Aragorn, him looking through the rain to see the group of orcs attempting to make their way to the keep. "Causeway! Na fennas!(Causeway!)" You yelled. Elves aimed towards the causeway you were referring to, killing some of the orcs. You looked over, eyes widening. "Togo hon dad, Legolas! (Bring him down, Legolas!)" You screamed, referring to the orc with a bomb.
Legolas fired an arrow, striking its shoulder but still it ran. "Dago hon! Dago hon! (Kill him! Kill him!)" Aragorn yelled. Legolas fired again, his arrow hitting his other shoulder. It wasn't enough, the orc being able to throw himself into the drain. Aragorn's eyes widened, pulling you to him and ducking. The explosion hit the wall, men and elves both sent flying. You hit the ground, Aragorn falling next to you.
Your ears rang, your vision blurry as you saw figures fighting in front of you. You lifted your swords, using them as a way to get up. "Brace the gate!" Théoden yelled. Men ran to the gate throwing whatever they could to keep them from breeching the gate. "Hold them! Stand firm!" Théoden yelled.
You helped Aragorn up, kissing his face as a way to let him know you were alright before stabbing something near him. "Aragorn!" Gimli shouted before slamming himself on top of a few orcs in front of you. "Gimli!" You both gasped in surprise. He killed the orcs near him until he slipped and fell back into water. "Hado i philinn! (Release Arrows!)" You yelled to your forces, arrows flying as you prepared to charge. "Are tye readime mime mel? (Are you ready my love?)" Aragorn asked, preparing to charge next to you. "Ve ni indóme voro n-, mime melin (As I will ever be, my dear)" You replied. You rose your sword and pointed. "HERIO! (CHARGE)" You yelled, your men charging towards the orcs. A few of your men died at the hands of a spear, you reaching the water Gimli fell in and pulling him up.
Théoden looked at what was happening to the breach, you killing orcs near you. "Y/n! Aragorn! Fall back to the Keep! Get your men out of there!" Théoden commanded. "Nan barad! (To the Keep!)" You yelled. "Nan barad! (Pull back to the Keep!)" Aragorn shouted. "Haldir! Nan barad! (To the Keep)" You called. Haldir nodded, looking to the elvish forces still around him. "Nan barad! (To the Keep!)" Haldir yelled. Haldir rushed forward, killing an orc but being hit on his arm. He looked down to see his forces retreating and turned to leave. You didn't have foresight for the nightmare that came next.
Haldir turned his back to leave but an orc behind him took the opportunity to strike. Sound seemed to drown out as you pushed through your men, Aragorn trying to stop you as you ran to Haldir just as he was struck. You caught him, looking at him with wide eyes. "yes was an honor serving tye, aranel (It was an honor serving you, princess)" He whispered against you. You felt tears fall as he let out a last breath. You looked at Aragorn who was fighting orcs off in front of you. You noticed a few climbing up the wall. "Aragon, follow me!" you said, getting up. Aragorn followed you to a ladder. "What are we doing!?" He asked. "Can you think of a quicker way off the wall!?" you asked, earning an eyebrow raise from Aragorn. You jumped on one side of the ladder, Aragorn jumping on the other and both of you used it as a quick way off the wall.
The gate was finally breached, soldiers around you yelling commands. "Brace the gate! Hold them!" A soldier yelled. Orcs with crossbows shot down more soldiers as they breeched the gate. "To the gate. Draw your swords!" Théoden yelled to his men. Gamling was grabbed by the throat by an orc, Théoden cutting of its hand. Gamling stumbled backward. Théoden was stabbed with a spear, his yells of battle being ones of pain before he drove a spear into an orc before falling back to the hall. "Make way! We cannot hold much longer!" Gamling yelled.
You, Gimli and Aragorn ran into the hall. "Hold them!" Théoden instructed. "How long do you need?" Aragorn asked. "As long as you can give me." Théoden said. "Gimli, Aragorn!" you called, nodding to a doorway. You three rushed out, walking along a ledge near the wall. Aragorn looked over and saw the orcs still attempting to breech the Deep. " Come on. We can take them." Gimli said. "It’s a long way." Aragorn observed. Gimli looked again, looking at you and then Aragorn and then the ground. "Toss me." Gimli said. Both you and Aragorn looked at him. "What?" You asked in unison. "I cannot jump the distance! You’ll have to toss me!" Gimli said. You blinked looking up at Aragorn before shrugging. Aragorn put Gimli's arm around him. "Don't tell the elf." He said. "What happens on the battlefield, stays on the battlefield." you assured before Aragorn launched Gimli across the gap and onto the causeway. You both jumped over, killing orcs next to Gimli.
"Shore up the door!" Théoden yelled to his men, soldiers coming through with materials to barricade the door. "Make way! Follow me to the barricade. Watch our back!" A man yelled. The orcs were loading a giant crossbow, preparing to fire. "Throw another on over here!" A man yelled. "Higher!" Théoden commanded.
The orcs fired the crossbow into the wall, another one being fired soon after. Some of the orcs used rope to scale the wall, others used the ladders. Legolas fired an arrow at one of the ropes, knocking down orcs climbing up and ones on ladders. "Hold fast the gate!" A soldier yelled.
You fought off the orcs near the gate. "Gimli! Aragorn! Y/n! Get out of there!" Théoden yelled. An orc gripped Gimli and Aragorn's neck, you decapitating it and them looking to you. "Y/n!" Legolas called, dropping a rope for the three of you. You climbed up it, being pulled up by a soldier while Aragorn and Gimli were pulled up.
"Pull everybody back. Pull them back." Theoden commanded before walking away. "Fall back! Fall back!" Gamling yelled. Orcs breeched through the gate, Gamling frowning. "They have broken through!" Gamling yelled. "The castle is breached. Retreat!" Theoden yelled. "Fall back!" a soldier relayed. "Retreat!" Théoden repeated. "Hurry! Inside. Get them inside!" Aragorn yelled to nearby soldiers. "Into the Keep!" A soldier yelled.
The orcs flew their flags at the top of Helm's Deep by morning, charging the battering ram against the final gate. Men braced the door and Théoden sighed. "The fortress is taken. It is over." Théoden said. Aragorn frowned as you ran with Legolas to barricade the door. "You said this fortress would never fall while your men defend it. They still defend it. They have died defending it." Aragorn yelled.
"Is there no other way for the women and children to get out of the caves?" You asked, looking at Théoden. "Is there no other way?" Aragorn repeated the question. "There is one passage. It leads into the mountains. But they will not get far the Uruk-Hai are too many." Gamling replied. "Tell the women and children to make for the mountain pass. And barricade the entrance!" Aragorn told Gamling. "So much death. What can Men do against such reckless hate?" Théoden asked. "Ride out with me. Ride out and meet them." Aragorn said. "For death and glory." Théoden said gravely. "For Rohan. For your people." You said. "The sun is rising." Gimli said.
You felt lightheaded, gripping Aragorn's arm. "What's wrong with you girl?" Théoden asked. "A vision." Aragorn said, looking at you and awaiting an answer. "Look to my coming at first light on the fifth day. At dawn look to the east." Gandalf's voice rang out. You paused, looking at Aragorn shocked. "There is still hope." you reminded. Aragorn seemed puzzled before he remembered Gandalf's words to him before he left. "Yes. Yes. The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the Deep one last time." Théoden said, Gimli perking up. "We have to keep the men going. We can win this Aragorn, I know we can." you said.
A loud bang came from the door, it almost being breeched. You drew your blades, looking at the door. "Let this be the hour when we draw swords together." Théoden said. Gimli ran off, reaching the horn at the top of a tower. "Fell deeds, awake." The gate opened a little more, you looking at Aragorn as you mounted a horse. "I love you." you said. "I love you too." He said softly, readying himself for war on his horse. "Now for wrath, now for ruin and a red dawn." Gimli blew the horn, it echoing through the hold as the gate opened. "Forth Eorlingas!" Theoden shouted, you all yelling a battle cry and charging. You killed orcs as they made their way inside, riding down the causeway into the battlefield.
You looked over the hill in the distance noticing a rider on horseback as the steed stood on it's hind legs. "Gandalf." You said relieved. "Théoden King stands alone." Gandalf said, looking at him from the hill. "Not alone. Rohirrim!" Éomer called. The orcs growled in response, seeing the forces of Rohan all aligned for battle. "Éomer." Théoden said relieved. "To the king!" Éomer yelled, the forces charging down the mountain.
As the men charged you fought until your horse could no longer bare the sight of war, dismounting and fighting once more. The riders of Rohan drove the orcs to the forest, Aragorn riding by and scooping you up so you rode on his horse. You both watched the enemy forces retreat, watching them with wide eyes. "Aragorn... We did it... We won." you said softly. "Indeed we did my love..." He said, equally surprised by the outcome. "Victory! We have victory!" Théoden yelled out.
You rode back to Helm's Deep, hugging Éowyn as you arrived. "Final Count, forty-two." Legolas said with a smirk. "Forty-two? That’s not bad for a pointy-eared Elvish princeling. I myself am sitting pretty on forty-three." Gimli said. Legolas shot a orc that Gimli was sitting on. "Forty-Three." Legolas said with a satisfied look. "He was already dead." Gimli huffed. "He was twitching." Legolas shrugged. "He was twitching because he’s got my ax embedded in his nervous system!" Gimli grunted. "Uhm, if I may." you raised your hand, Éowyn smirking. "Fifty-six." You said, both men looking at you surprised as you entered the hall with your friend.
You watched people around you celebrate but you slipped off, walking up the steps and standing on the remnants of the wall. You sighed, thinking of Haldir. An arm wrapped around you, pulling you close. "Haldir would've liked this." You muttered. Aragorn said nothing, pressing a kiss to your head and looking out at the sunlight over the hills.
Hope had come again, Aragorn reaching a silent decision he never thought he'd make.
He was going to make his claim for the throne of Gondor.

Hello! Are you doing requests? If so can you do a Legolas x reader with the reader being the chief of a savage tribe and is now a prisoner in Mirkwood. She has tattoos, face paint, and jewelry all over her body to show her rank and is very physically strong. Legolas was told not to associate with her because she’s a savage that has no manners or morals, but to his surprise the reader is actually very intelligent, knowing and understanding many languages. And She’s quiet the looker and is quite cunning!
Sorry it’s long or if you don’t understand. If you don’t want to do my request that’s completely fine! have a good rest of your day!
THIS IS SUCH AN INTERESTING IDEA, MY GOD YOU'RE ALL CREATIVE.
Tumblr media
You were shoved into your cell, shackles on your hands. "Osán- anann ar sarda about your stupiditime on sina amaurea, selde. (Think long and hard about your stupidity on this day, girl.)" The guard said, earning a glare. Legolas had seen you escorted in, hair in various braids and blue markings across your skin. You wore many rings and two necklaces, one of a crow skull and the other was a pendant that even you didn't recognize. Your head rested against the back wall, you staring blankly at the ceiling. How did this happen?
Well for that explanation I'd have to explain your people. Witches. You essentially were from a conven of witches. You were a special one amongst your people though. Your blue markings were not warpaint but legitimate symbols that appeared on your arms when you first used the ability to control water, which so happened to be your second best ability outside of healing. You though, were a fighter. Your coven lived amongst a village and protected them proudly. The Astogars were a proud unknown people who were trained by wizards, unbeknownst to that idiot elven king who insisted on your capture.
Your people sent you on a mission. Find the bear that was killing people from your village. You recognized the difference of a Beorning, so finding Beorn vs a bear would be easy for you. This was just a bear. You however were ambushed while in the woods, Thranduil thinking you were a threat. Unless pushed, the Astogars were a peaceful people who protect instead of blindly attacking.
Legolas walked into the throne room. "Father, why is there a woman in our prisons?" He asked. "A savage was sent to hunt us." Thranduil said. Legolas already felt doubt of that statement settling in. That seemed false considering your response to getting taken in was more annoyed but obedient. When you were put before Thranduil, you didn't speak, making him believe you didn't speak their language. This of course, was incorrect, for the people of Astogar actually did speak fluent elvish due to the fact that your people were actually mostly elven. You were adopted into them after you were abandoned as a child.
"Are we sure she means harm? She seemed calm to me." Legolas said. Thranduil turned around slowly. "Make no mistake my son, she will hurt you when you least expect it. She is not to be spoken to or interacted with." Thranduil said. "...Alright." So what did Legolas do? Waited till his father was busy and snuck food down into the dungeons.
You had already used your abilities to extract water to you so you could drink. However, now there was a matter of how you were to eat. Legolas ushered a guard forward, the man unlocking the door. You looked up, confused. "I brought food." He said, holding up lambas bread. You watched as he held it out to you, you slowly taking it. "Let me know if my father comes this way." Legolas said to the guard, earning a nod. He closed the door, leaving you with him. "...I am Legolas, son of Thranduil... who are you?" He asked. Silence. You weren't touching the bread. "...Can you understand me?" He asked. Silence again. "...Alright then, there's a language barrier." He sighed.
"Tar na- lala lambe astan, ni've understood ilqua -o i moment ni entered sina godforsaken nór. (There is no language barrier, I've understood everything from the moment I entered this godforsaken land.)" You said finally. Legolas blinked. "You speak... you speak Quenya?"' He asked, slightly taken aback that a human could do that. "Im am fluent in ui- edhelen languages, im was raised amongst i galadrim. (I am fluent in both elvish languages, I was raised amongst the elves)" you said calmly. You could speak both elvish languages. The only time Legolas heard that was when Aragorn spoke it in front of him. "...Why haven't you said anything to my father to get you released?" Legolas asked. You sighed. "Judging by your father's quickness to accuse me of being a threat, do you really think he would believe a word I said, regardless of language?" You asked. A valid point. "I'm going to take your awkward silence as a no." You said, leaning back. "...You haven't eaten." Legolas said softly. "Not sure I trust you." You muttered. "Why?" He asked, looking at you. "Mmm. Does your father locking me in a cell not ring a bell?" You asked.
He sighed. "I am not my father." He said. You stared at him for a minute, noting the disdain behind his voice. "Are you not a supporter of your father?" You asked. "No. He's... well not the best." Legolas said with a sigh. You nodded after a minute, eating the bread. "Reminds me of Astrid's cooking." You whispered under your breath. "Who's Astrid?" Legolas asked. You looked at him with a frown. "I... I dare not say anything about my people when there are people who support your father in my vicinity." You said.
Legolas nodded. "What are those markings? Did paint them yourself?" Legolas changed the subject. "I didn't paint them." Was all you stated. "Prince Legolas, your father is coming down here for an interrogation." A guard said. Legolas got up. "Y/n." You spoke. He rose a brow. "My name. You asked earlier." You said. He nodded, smiling softly before leaving.
Thranduil grew frustrated as his interrogation led to nothing. The entire time he spoke, you were in a meditative state. You wouldn't speak, at this point he was beginning to think you were mute.
The next day, Legolas was back, you were sitting against the wall again. "More bread?" He offered. You leaned off the wall and nodded. He also handed you a goblet of water. You set it down, making him raise a brow. Shouldn't you be practically dying of thirst? "I wanted to ask... what do your rings and necklaces represent?" Legolas asked. He assumed you might've been some sort of general by everything you wore. To the elf's surprise you started laughing. "By the Valar, everything I do is foreign to you isn't it?" You chuckled. He paused as you recovered. "Nothing. They all have sentimental value is all." You said. Legolas nodded with a small smile. "Is that why you have so many braids?" He asked. "Oh no, see these actually have meaning." You said.
He rose a brow as you pointed to one "Each braid is a victory." You said. Legolas nodded as you explained each one but you stopped on the fourth. "...I will not say what this one is for but... I earned it." You shrugged. Legolas nodded and you sighed, looking out the window that was up too high for you to even reach. "I miss my people." You said softly. Legolas looked at you sympathetically. "Who... are your people?" He asked. You looked at him and then fell completely silent. "Sorry... sorry..." Legolas realizing it sounded like an interrogation. You sighed. "What does your father plan on doing to me?" You asked. "I'm not sure..." Legolas said. "What typically happens to your prisoners?" You asked. "Typically we move them or hold a council for further action." Legolas said. You sighed, looking at him. "Your father seemed to loathe my existence.... I doubt his punishment will be kind." You said softly. "Again I know I've asked this but... who are your people?"he asked, hoping to see why Thranduil seemed to hate you. "Ask him." You said softly.
You left it at that, Legolas going back. This went on for days, you answering a few questions. You found comfort in his. Company, growing attached to the elven man. Thranduil walked as Legas ran over. "Father, I have some questions." Legolas said. Thranduil looked over. "Yes?" He asked. "Why do you seem to hate the prisoner?" He asked. Thranduil sighed. "Why are you bringing the savage up?" He asked. "Well, the guards tell me she's been calm and collected this entire time." Legolas lied. "Just because she seems that way now, does not mean she is actually that way." Thranduil said simply. "Why do you think that?" Legolas asked. "When we found her, she was armed. She won't answer any of our questions, I'm beginning to think she might not even be able to speak. Her markings, I doubt mean anything good. If we don't recieve questions by the end of the week, we will execute her." Thranduil said. "She was in the woods, which are dangerous. Maybe I should question her." Legolas said, fearing for your safety. Thranduil paused but sighed.
"Fine. Bring her here." He told him. Legolas walked back to the cells, you looking up. "That was quick." You said before he pulled you up, unchaining you from your spot. "Where are we going?" You asked quietly. "My father wants me to question you. Please, when he or me ask questions, give us an honest answer. My father wants to execute you." Legolas said. You looked at him concered but nodded following him.
You were brought forward. "What is your name?" Thranduil asked, looking at you. You looked at Legolas and sighed before speaking. "Y/n." You answered making Thranduil raise a brow. "Se speaks. Finallime. (She speaks. Finally.)" Thranduil said. "Ni've understood ilqua sina entire lú (I've understood everything this entire time.)" You said calmly. Thranduil's eyes locked onto you now. "Who do you belong to?" He asked. "The Astogars." You said. This was not a recognizable name to anyone. "Who are these people?" Legolas asked. "They're mostly elves that work alongside the Rohirrim." You said, looking at Thranduil. "Why were you armed when they found you?" Legolas asked. "I was sent on a hunting expedition, a bear had been terrorizing the people." You admitted. "And how do you know it wasn't a Beorning?" Thranduil asked, looking at you. "Beornings are larger than the average bear. This was one that was large, yes. But it wasn't the size of a Beorning." You said. "Your markings. What do they mean?" Legolas asked, hoping to ease his father's thoughts. "I was born with magic in my veins. When I was a child I had an aptitude for controlling water. When my people needed me during an attack, I used my abilities and my markings just appeared. They are not paint, if that is what you're asking." You explained. "Your necklaces. What are they?" "Simply Items of sentimental value." You shrugged. "I don't believe you." Thranduil said.
You frowned. "I was told to answer. I am answering and now it's not to your standard. What more do you want from me?" You asked. "The truth. Why do you wear a crow's skull?" "Used to be my pet. I carry Revna's skull as a token to her service to me." You said, Thranduil getting up. "Your other necklace, the pendant. What is it?" "I don't know, when I was a baby this is what was with me." You admitted. Thranduil shook his head. "Lies-" "I am not lying to you. I was abandoned and found by an elf who brought me back to their camp. I was raised amongst you all." You said honestly. "And I suppose your rings are also meaningless?" You sighed. "This one came from someone who was like my brother, this one came from a friend after she got married and this one was given to me by my adoptive mother, what more do you want?"you asked him. Thranduil scowled at your answers. "Father, she's provided an answer to every question...." Legolas said, looking at you. "You know nothing about your origins?" He asked. "No. All I know is what I have around my neck." You said. Thranduil leaned over, looking at the pendant and then back to you with a glare. "I hope you remember this night. It was your undoing." He said. "What?" Legolas asked. "That symbol is ours. She clearly stole it or has killed one of our people. Either way, she's not worth this trouble. Tomorrow morning, she will draw her last breath."
You said nothing as you were pulled back, Legolas standing there. "Father, she came with that necklace on her. She was telling the truth-" "Legolas. Stop. She is an enemy as far as I am concerned. Leave it at that." Thranduil said. Legolas frowned. "Why? Why is she an enemy?" Legolas asked. "Legolas-" "ANSWER ME." He yelled. Thranduil's eyes flashed with anger. "She is a human who hasn't told the truth. She's not one of the lakemen, she's claiming now that she has magic. Legolas, she's wearing our symbol. She is a threat." Thranduil said before leaving.
Legolas waited till nightfall, slipping into your cell. You looked up, wiping your eyes. You had been crying. "I can't seem to change his mind so here's what I can do. I can get you out." "And how long before he slaughters another one of my people for going on the same quest?" You asked, looking at him. "...Y/n-" "So long as there's a threat to my people, they will send one person to hunt. We've never had this much trouble with the elves and now he's telling me that my necklace is elven." You muttered. "You didn't know beforehand?" Legolas asked. "No. I can speak the language but the only foreign language I can read is that of the dwarves and that's for trading purposes." You said, leaning your head against the stone wall behind you.
"My people are peaceful, we would never attack anyone." You said softly. "I know." Legolas said to you. You looked at him. "Can you do me a favor?" You asked. He nodded. "If it is true, what he said, there's a chance one of my parents are here in Mirkwood. Can you take my necklace and try to find it's original owner?" You asked softly. Legolas nodded, untying the pendant and walking out. He told a servant and they nodded, rushing off. Legolas soon returned, you sitting on the ground still, looking at the moon through the window that was too high to reach. "I told someone and they looking into it as fast as they can." Legolas said softly. "Good." You nodded. "Why are you so accepting of this?" Legolas asked. "I'd rather die here than trying to escape and both of us going down." You said to him. Legolas sighed. "There has to be a law, something that can save you." He insisted. "He's a king Legolas, he makes the laws." You said to him. Now Legolas was pacing. "Maybe I can call on someone. Perhaps Gandalf." Legolas muttered. "You know Gandalf?" You asked, surprised. "...You know Gandalf?" He asked. "He often passes through our area, sometimes camps with us." You said. "....That's great!" Legolas said befoe leaving.
He did come back after a bit, hoping some good came of the message being sent. It was indeed something that got to the wizard quickly, seeing as he was passing through the woods as an elven messenger stopped him. "Y/n of the Astogars is in trouble. She claims to know you. Stop my father, please - Legolas" was all that was written. "Oh bullocks." Gandalf huffed, turning his steed back around.
You looked at Legolas. "Are you spending the night here?" You asked, looking at the moon that was now hanging higher in the sky. "Yes, actually I am." He said. You blinked. "Oh?" You asked. "Yes. I figure I'd be some entertainment to you." Legolas said. "Ah" you nodded. "Almost forgot" Legolas said before unlocking your shackles. You finally felt the heaviness of the iron leave you, you rubbing your wrists with relief. "Thank you " you said softly. "I'm sorry this is happening." Legolas said. "I'm alright. A little scared but, alright." You said softly.
Legolas sighed. "You deserve to be free. Maybe I should've contacted your people" "You would not know how to find us unless you can read our symbols." You said softly. Legolas looked over. "How has my father never heard of you?" Legolas asked. "We're a traveling group. But we mainly keep to Rohan." You said softly. Legolas nodded, feeling guilty. "This is not your fault Legolas. You tried to help, for that I am grateful." You said softly. He sighed. "Y/n-" his eyes widened. "I know how to save you" Legolas said. "...What?" You asked confused. "I know how to save you! By the Valar, at least stall longer till Gandalf reaches us!" He said. "Which is?" You asked. "I have to be engaged to you!" He said.
You blinked. "I'm sorry.... What?" You asked. "I will simply claim that I'm marrying you!" He said. You looked at him confused. "Legolas I'm not sure this is a good idea-" "Come with me-" "Legolas!" You whined as you were being pulled out. "You'd technically be protected under something called 'Hound Law', it's a law my father cannot go against, if I were to claim you as my wife to be, you couldn't be executed!" He said walking. "Wow, okay, slow down!" You halted. Legolas turned. "Do you want to be beheaded?" He asked. "No, I don't. But are you certain you won't have to actually marry me? Once you do, there is no going back." You said softly. "I am aware, and if I did have to marry you I wouldn't despise that choice." Legolas said calmly. You blinked. "You wouldn't?" "I think we can both agree there are worse options." He said. You nodded slowly and followed as he walked into the hall. "Father" Legolas called. Thranduil turned and frowned.
"Why is she out of her cell- Guards!" "STOP!" Legolas halted. "I am calling forth Hound law." He said. Everyone paused at this. "Legolas. You've got to be joking." "No, I am not. And before you claim she's enchanted me, she has not, this is a choice of my own." Legolas said. "You don't know her!" Thranduil said, clearly flabbergasted by his son's own choice. "Yes I do, I've been seeing her behind your back." Legolas said confidently. Thranduil pinched the bridge of his nose. "You're stalling her execution." Thranduil sighed. "And? Even if I was, she's still protected by the law." Legolas stated. "Legolas you are playing with fire!" "I am in love with her father!" Legolas yelled.
You blinked, looking at the man. "She has won me over with tales of her home, she is a wonderful soul despite what you believe. She is smart and kind and I do not care what you may think, she is not going to die because you won't listen!" Legolas snapped. This entire rant, Legolas had not let go of your hand. He held it, speaking passionately over you. "Three days." Thranduil finally said. "If you still feel this way in three days, she will live. However, if there is any uncertainty behind either of you, she will die." Thranduil said. "That's-" "Fair." You finally spoke. "Fine.... I cannot believe I'm about to say this... Legolas, take her to the guest quarters." "She stays with me." "...Fine, just... go."
You walked with Legolas. "Why am I staying with you?" You asked. "Safer, not sure if you'd actually be safe in the guest quarters." He said simply, opening a wooden door. The room was large, earning a gaping stare at it. There was a fireplace, which a bow rested against. Next to it was a terrace that over looked many trees and a few rivers. "Holy shit" you muttered. "It's quite large, I'm aware." He nodded. You saw a chair, walking to it. "What are you doing?" Legolas asked. "Well, it's night and there's this thing humans do called sleep, it's quite comfortable, you should try it some time." You said sarcastically. "You're taking the bed, I'm taking the chair." Legolas halted. "This is your room Legolas, you're taking the bed!" You said. "Yes but you're a lady!" Legolas said, making you sigh. "Legolas, just sleep in the bed!" You said, making him shake his head. "No, you sleep in the bed." "Only if you do!" "Fine!" "Fine!" "Wait what!"
So there Legolas was, looking at the ceiling as you slept soundly across from him. How were you sleeping right now? How? He was a nervous wreck, constantly looking at you to make sure you were asleep. Truth be told, strangers often camped with your people, forcing you to have to share a tent or occasionally sleep next to each other on a cot. This was normal for you. This was however, very much abnormal for Legolas. Your breaths were the only noise in the room outside of Legolas'. Legolas rose a brow though as he noticed something odd. Your markings, as you slept, glew. It was very dim but he could still notice it, making him confused. He almost touched them but something odd occurred. He couldn't.
Something your body did to keep you safe in unfamiliar environments was that it made a small force field around you. It occasionally did this when you were awake which is partially why you showed a small reaction to when your execution was announced. Legolas watched you as you slept though, thinking your face was beautiful when it was at peace.
When you awoke the sun was just rising. You opened your eyes to see Legolas staring back at you making you jump, a bright flash of your markings, and then a force knocking him off the bed. "Oh no- Legolas are you alright!?" You asked, slightly panicked. His hand shot up with a thumbs up. You blinked as he leaned up. "Uhm... Y/n what was that?" He asked. "It's a small defense mechanism, I'm not sure how it originated... probably should've warned you." You said softly. Legolas chuckled. "You get more and more interesting as time passes." He said as he stood up.
You looked out the terrace. "Legolas, what is your plan today?" You asked. "Well I figured I'd show you Mirkwood. Not everyone wants you dead, just my father." He said simply. You chuckled, nodding. You stood up before speaking. "Uh... would it be too much to ask for a bath?" You asked. "No, not at all. Over behind that divider is a tub, I will get someone to fill it-" "no need. I got it" you said walking. Your markings glew dimly before water slowly floated up from the stone flooring, moving into the tub. "...How did you do that?" Legolas asked as you moved behind the divider. "Magic." You said simply. "Yes but how-" "I meant that literally, that's my ability, I control water." You said making him blink. "I used the morning dew to my advantage. No point in getting someone to get what you already can do." You shrugged.
Legolas nodded before he heard the noise of you getting into the water. "Finally, I won't smell like a horse." You breathed making Legolas chuckle. It didn't take long for you to step out, Legolas already handing you a dress while turning the other way. "Thank you." You said softly, changing. "You can look now." You told him. He turned back, surprised at how lovely you looked. You were pretty before... but now "you're gorgeous " he muttered. You smiled softly "Careful now, I'm beginning to think you might want to marry me for alternative reasons." You teased.
You followed Legolas through the city. It was vast, yet beautiful, many of the elves staring at you with confusion. One woman stared at you though, with wide eyes. "...Can I help you?" You asked softly, noticing her stare. "N-no." She said before walking off. "...That was odd." Legolas said. "Yes... it was?" You said confused. You heard hooves as you approached the throne room followed by rapid footsteps. "WAIT!" a girl screamed after she entered before you. You blinked, knowing that voice. Thranduil turned and she was panting. "You can't kill Y/n! She's done nothing wrong!" She yelled. Thranduil blinked as Gandalf slipped past you, winking before sighing. "Calm yourself Meryl. She's safe." Gandalf said.
"What is the meaning of this?" Thranduil asked, staring at ths elven woman. "If you had done some investigating, you'd find that Y/n is from the Astogar clan, she's no threat to your people." Gandalf said. "She's said this, yet I don't even know that name." Thranduil sighed. "It's a caravan sir, we travel alongside the Rohirrim." Meryl said. You stepped between Gandalf and Meryl. "Hello Meryl" you greeted. "Hi Y/n, now if you'll just listen-Y/N!?" Meryl shrieked. "You know this elf?" Thranduil asked. "Yes, she's the closest thing I have to a sister." You said softly.
Thranduil seemed tired by all of this, sighing. "She isn't going to be executed" Thranduil said. "Good. Good." Meryl said relieved. "She is apparently marrying my son." Thranduil said. "Well I could always revoke the law" "No you can't. The law states once you called it, you cannot undo it unless harm has been done. Has she hurt you?" Thranduil asked. "Wait back up, so I have to actually marry Legolas!?" You asked. "....Shit." Legolas muttered. "Oh FUCK ME!" you groaned, earning a surprised look from everyone. "Sorry, you show no reaction to your execution, but this is where you show a reaction?" A guard asked. "Well buddy, it's been a rough week!" You groaned.
"Were you unaware of the law when you called it?" Thranduil asked. "...The pages were torn father, the law was incomplete to me." "SO YOU CALLED THE LAW WITHOUT KNOWING THE SECOND HALF!?" you squeaked out. "I was trying to stay your execution Y/n, excuse me for not realizing as I was SAVING YOUR LIFE." Legolas said through a gritted smile. Thranduil again, pinched the bridge of his nose. "Why is there so much chaos in my throne room? Why?" He sighed. "I believe the last time you had this much excitement was when you had dwarves and a hobbit here." Gandalf joked. "I literally just want to return to my people, now I have to get MARRIED!?" you asked. "Yes." "Oh my- this is ridiculous!" You sighed. "A part of me wishes I had been executed, at least I wouldn't have to DEAL WITH THIS!" You whined. "NO! NO EXECUTION! IT WAS A JOKE, A POORLY MADE JOKE!" Meryl said, looking at you wild eyed.
"ENOUGH! My god, you all are driving me mad!" Thranduil sighed. "The wedding is in two days, I will allow your people to stay now that I have official context of who you are" Thranduil sighed. You mentally screamed, leaving before anyone else did with Legolas following. "I cannot believe-" "Y/n" "that this is happening! This is actually happening-" "Y/n slow down" "I just want to go home!" You said to Legolas. For once, Legolas actively saw you cry and your marks were glowing. "I can't do this- I can't" you said, Legolas looking at you.
He slowly reached out. At first, a force wouldn't let him but he slowly powered past it, pulling you to his chest. Your heart pounded, you muttering things into him. "I'm going to bring you home. I promise you." "You have duties here, a life Legolas." You sniffled. "Oh screw this life!" He said with a scoff. You blinked. "I hate it here Y/n, do you have any idea how many times I've seeked opportunities to LEAVE?" he asked. "But-" "Marrying me does not mean you have to give up your life. Occasionally you might have to come back, OCCASIONALLY." You found yourself laughing through your tears, Legolas moving strands of loose hair from your eyes. "I promise you, even if this is a disaster I will try to make your life painless." He said softly. You laughed and hugged him, him holding you close. That is when it finally hit him.
He loved you. He had come to actually love you. You pulled away and Meryl sprinted, hugging you. "Gah!" You yelped, your force field making her bounce back. "Owww" Meryl winced. "Sorry!" You gasped, helping her up. "What are you doing here!?" You asked. "I am here because Gandalf told me you were in trouble, but apparently your fiancé, who I will discuss in a second, fixed it before we got here!" Meryl said with a huff. "Oh" you said softly. "...Where's your pendant?" She asked. "Apparently that symbol was that of Mirkwood." You said. "Mirkwood? So one of your parents are elven?" She asked. "Maybe." You shrugged. "I haven't heard if anyone's recognized it so far." Legolas said. You looked back at Gandalf. "I'm sorry you traveled this far for... that." You said, motioning to the throne room. "Well, I'm always willing to travel for a good old fashioned wedding!" Gandalf said making you snort. "I'm going to go get the camp, they'll be.. here!" She said pausing looking for a word. You nodded as she ran off.
"Sir, there's a response to the necklace." A guard said to Legolas. You looked at Legolas. "Well?" "Francesca Hawthorne." The guard said. Legolas blinked before looking at you. "Does that mean something?" "It does." Legolas nodded. "What does it mean?" You asked. "It means your mother is extremely powerful." Gandalf said. "Wait, she's alive!?" You asked. "Yes" the guard nodded. "WHERE!?" You all asked in unison.
You followed the guard to a large tree. It had been hollowed out, using it as a building. The guard knocked. "I'm busy!" "Royal business." The guard sighed. There was shuffling behind the door, followed by a thud and a "oh that's fucked". You all exchanged glances before the door opened, an elven woman opened the door. It was the same elven woman who was staring at you in awe. She froze, swallowing hard. Your heart pounded, wondering if she was going to slam the door in your face and ask to be alone but instead she hugged you. You slowly hugged her back.
You looked at her as she took off a cover up, showing similar markings as you, yet they were purple. "You've grown into such a strong woman!" She gasped, looking at you. "Where... why did you leave?" You asked. She breathed, looking at the guard. "Come in, please, we'll talk more." She said. You found yourself sitting next to Legolas on a small couch, surrounded by books. There were large shelves, loaded to the brim with books, none of which you recognized. She had a large table that appeared to once be a tree stump. "Tea? Anyone?" She asked, holding up a kettle. "Are you going to answer my previous question?" You asked. "...Right." she set down the kettle. "Thranduil wouldn't let me keep you here because you were human." She said softly. "...What?" "I gave you to the Astogars because I knew they'd keep you safe, the chief is your father after all." She said. "WHAT!?" she blinked. "Tristan never told you?" She asked. "NO HE DIDN'T TELL ME!" you gaped. "That blithering- I had hoped your father would have GIVEN YOU ANSWERS BUT APPARENTLY I WAS WRONG!" she huffed, the kettle whistling as her frustration showed. "I was working next to my father this entire time!?" You asked. "Yes! Again, I thought Tristan would've told you!" She said. "You- YOU DON'T JUST GET OFF WITH A TECHNICALITY WHERE MY FATHER DIDN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING!" you yelled. She sighed. "I know." She said softly. "You left me." You said. "...I know" she said even quieter now. "Why? Why not stay with the Astogars with me?" You askee. "Darling I cannot leave, I provide Mirkwood with magical protection. I'm a safeguard." She said. "You're my mother" you said, voice cracking. Legolas looked over. "Why is today the day I discover life altering things? Why? Is it a national holiday?" You groaned into your hands. Legolas put a sympathetic hand on your shoulder despite your markings glowing. Gandalf and Francesca both rose a brow at this. You sighed, putting your hand over his earning an exchange of glances. "When did you become... close with the prince?" Francesca asked. "I'm marrying him." You sighed, your markings dimming. "You're... what?" She asked. "It's a long story." You muttered. She looked out the window and walked over to a cabinet, pulling out a cookie tin and sitting down. "...We've got time"
So you explained it. "The hunting trip that went wrong" as you explained it. Legolas chuckled as you explained. You found yourself smiling as he laughed at your explanation for the throne room being called a "royal clusterfuck of events". "So let me get this straight. You originally were captured because Thranduil thought you were a threat" "Yes" "When you did tell the truth, he didn't believe you so he wanted you executed" "Also Yes" "So to keep you alive, Legolas called Hound Law" "Yes" "Was this before or after he legitimately fell in love with you?" Francesca asked.
You paused. "What?" Both of you asked. "Okay, so both of you have been subtly showing affection to each other, his arm has been around you the entire time you've explained this, everytime he laughs you smile, Legolas is clearly infatuated with you and you haven't noticed that you love him too." Francesca said. You snorted. "Yeah right, okay, sure mother, I'm positive he totally loves-" you turned to Legolas who was now nervously sipping tea. "...By the Valar" you whispered looking at him with wide eyes. "YOU'RE IN LOVE WITH ME!?" you gaped. "It was an accident, I swear"
So here you are, two hours later, pacing as Legolas sat in the room with you. "You love me. You love me? YOU LOVE ME!?" you asked frantically. "Yes... but in my defense I didn't realize that until after I called hound law." He said. You facepalmed. "Again, is it a national holiday? I find my parents, I get trapped in a marriage, I also find out the guy I have to marry is in love with me, DID I PISS OFF THE FORCES OF NATURE!?" you asked, steam emitting from the tub. "Is it that bad that I love you?" He asked. You looked at him with an unreadable expression. "I mean... no, it's just... today has been A LOT to take in." You said softly. "So let's make this the good thing, okay? Take everything in and celebrate a small thing" he said, holding your hand. You smiled and sighed. "For the record... I love you too." You said. He pulled you into his lap, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "I know. Your markings give you away." Legolas said with a chuckle. You let out a chuckle. "Damn things, giving me away." You said.
A knock landed on the door and you stood up. "Come in." Legolas said. Meryl came in. "So everyone's here, also there's like... a whole group of other elves- actually two." She said. "What?" You asked. Legolas sucked in a breath. "...Dear... what's going on?" You asked. "Can I add on just a little to this day?" Legolas asked. You squinted at him. "....So when a major event, such as the prince getting married happens... there's a dinner that has to be held where all the elven kingdoms come together." Legolas said. "So you're saying... all those people are" "There for us... and a official dinner where I have to introduce you." Legolas said calmly. Your left eye twitched and the steam practically made the room a sauna.

What a relationship is like with the Lord of the Rings women:
Éowyn:
Tumblr media
She is amazing in a relationship honestly
But DO NOT. TELL HER. WHAT. TO DO.
She is HER OWN DAMN WOMAN.
And will kick your ass if you try
She is very gentle though
Loves hugs, my god she gives the BEST hugs
She is very kind, listens to everything you say
She loves you, there is no question
...I wouldn't let her cook though unless you like gross food.
She uh... she can't cook man, it's BAD.
She loves her people, honestly she'd make a badass queen.
She's one of those types that charges with her men.
Arwen:
Tumblr media
She's very patient for one
Kind of have to be when you're thousands of years old
But she's beautifully kind, she makes kindness an art.
I have reason to believe she's sarcastic but no one really knows
She let's it slip in front of you though and it will be funny
She also can sing, my god the woman can sing
She often gets aggravated with her father for multiple reasons but she does love him
Elrond is... well he's Elrond
She's a bookworm, very much so.
She's also very skilled with a blade, I like to believe it's because each of Elrond’s children are trained in something because of Celebrían's insistance.
She is a world class hugger. Hugs feel heavenly when she gives them.
Galadriel:
Tumblr media
This woman does not have time for bullshit.
Very stern.
But with every hard stare there's a loving heart.
She is in fact a loving person, she just doesn't show it outwardly
She will often tell you sweet things but the second it calls for professional attitude, she provides it.
Little tip: she's not good with crying.
She sees people cry and she will basically pat their head and awkwardly stand there.
Big emotions are odd to her, she's more calm than anything
However if you piss her off... RUN.
Actually just accept death, there is no running from her.

Hi there! Could you do a Pippin x fem!hobbit!reader where the reader is best friends with Rosie, who dares the reader to confess (says she’ll confess to Sam if reader confesses to Pippin), but when reader does confess, Pippin confesses too? Oh and could it end with a kiss?👀 tysm! Sorry that was a long one 😅
This is such an adorable idea omg
Tumblr media
You sat at the small bar in the Green Dragon, watching Merry and Pippin dance, singing bar songs. You sighed, fiddling with your hair. "You could stand to actually talk to the man, I'm sure Pippin would love that instead of your staring." Rosie said, cleaning a mug. You glared at her, sighing and smacking your head onto the bar. "it's no use! I can't ever get a moment alone with the man, he's always with Frodo or-or with Merry. There's no point in talking to him." You said with a whine. "Sure there is, I'm sure if you asked for a moment alone you'd be fine." She said. You groaned and she rolled her eyes.
Finally the tavern emptied out, you helping Rosie turn over the stools. She was your dearest friend, always confiding to you. "I stand by what I said earlier." She said. "I cannot ask for a moment alone, my mouth goes completely dry when I try to speak to Pippin, like I've been feasting on crackers all day." You muttered. "Alright, so ask to get a drink with him." She said. "Tch. No." You halted. "Why not? It's not like he's never in here, he's a regular." She said. "Rosie, I am a lady." "HA! Okay." She snorted. "And just what is that supposed to mean?" You asked. She looked at you. "Besides the fact that you have a reserved chair here? At the bar? And that I am your only female friend. Not a chance." She said. You sighed. "you're working on being my last friend." You huffed. "Oh you don't mean that." She waved your words off. "I don't. But still. You don't feel any of this whenever you speak to Samwise?" You asked. She grew still, pausing at your words. "You know?" She asked. "Rosie, your emotions are as transparent as a glass of water." You said making her groan. "Alright fine, I do get the nervousness but you won't get anywhere if you let that control you." She said. "Practice what you preach." You sighed. "...Alright I will!" She said triumphantly. You blinked. "what?" "I will tell Sam my feelings ONLY if you tell Pippin yours." She said. "Rosie-" She shot you a look and you sighed, nodding. "Alright. Alright I'll do it." You sighed.
The next morning you were walking on the road with your basket, prepared to buy food. Pippin was walking with Merry before he noticed you, swallowing. He was behind you sure, but he noticed your beautiful locks anywhere. "...Gonna talk to her this time?" Merry asked quietly. "Well... I mean, it looks like she's having a peaceful morning, I wouldn't want to disturb that now would I?" Pippin asked. "Excuses." Merry scoffed. "I am not- Hi." Pippin gulped as you turned around, hearing voices. You opened your mouth, debating the idea of just screaming "I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU! BYE!" and running. You voted against it though, looking at him. "Hi" you finally said.
"It's a nice morning isn't it?" Merry asked as an awkward silence fell over the two of you. "Yes... Quite." You nodded, gulping. Pippin fidgeted. "Would you like to have dinner with Pippin tonight?" Merry asked. "What?" You and Pippin asked in unison. "Dinner. Y'know, one of the various meals we need." Merry said. Pippin shot him a confused glance but you found yourself nodding. "Sounds... Nice" you said softly. "..Great uh... See.. see you then I suppose" Pippin said.
As they entered the tavern Pippin sighed. "Merry." "Yes?" Pippin put both hands on his shoulders. "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!?" Pippin asked, shaking the man. "Calm yourself Pippin, I did you a favor. You don't want to be like poor sodding Sam do you? Always staring at the girl but never saying anything?" Merry asked. "I mean no. But still- I don't even know what to do!" "Leave that to me." Was where the conflict was left.
You stood at Pippin's door in silence, knocking. You seriously couldn't believe any of this was happening. The door opened and Pippin paused. "H-Hi." He said. "Hi." You greeted. He opened the door more, you walking in. "Tis a beautiful night."Pippin coughed out. "Yes, yes quite." You said, looking around you. He guided you to a chair and you sat down, looking at him.
I wish I could tell you this was when you finally said something. But no. The evening was awkward smalltalk, compliments to the food and that was it. "Soooo. How'd the dinner go?"Rosie asked the next night as you sat at the bar. "Oh gods." You groaned, smacking your head on the counter. "Was it that bad? Did he reject you?" She asked nervously. "Nothing happened. It was SO. AWKWARD." You groaned, voice muffled as you spoke still with your head on the bar. "You didn't tell him?" She asked, putting down the mug she was wiping. "No I didn't." "You were at his home, he was alone. And you didn't tell him?"Rosie asked. "No" you muttered. "Y/n, you should tell him, it's obvious he loves you too." She said. You scoffed. "He does not." You said. "Y/n, do you remember when you wrote that poetry piece, about love? When you said that you wished to be looked at with love so bright it could mirror the moon?" Rosie asked. "I remember?"you said confused. "I present, your moon. The man is always staring at you with that same love that you want." She said, motioning to the hobbit at the table talking to Frodo. You sighed. "He does not love me Rosie-"
She sighed and walked, yanking you up. "Wha-where are we going!?" She marched over to the table with Merry, Pippin, Sam and Frodo. "Frodo, Merry, could you give us a moment? Sam I have to speak to you." Rosie said. You blinked. "What are you--" "Pippin, Y/n has something she'd like to say." Rosie said. You shot her a look as she pulled Sam aside.
You breathed, looking at Pippin. "Is something wrong?" He asked, slightly concerned. "What? Oh no-no no." You stuttered. He stared, waiting for you to speak. "...Rosie uhm... she tells me she's seen you staring at me?" You said. He let out a long breath. "Pippin I-" "Before you speak, can I say something?" He asked. You nodded. "I..." he inhaled looking at you. "I am in love with you." He said. You blinked, your cheeks growing red. "You are?" You whispered. "I-I think I always have, you have this lovely laugh, you- you have a smile that would light up a room." He said softly. You smiled looking at him. "Pippin...I was going to say I loved you." You admitted. His eyes lit up. "You do!?"he asked. "Yes! By the Valar, you make me stumble over every word, you're funny, you're kind, I've always admired you." You said with a smile. Pippin seemed relieved, taking your hands into his.
You smiled at him as he leaned across the table, kissing you. You smiled, giggling as he pulled away. "What do you think they're talking about?" Pippin asked, nodding to Rose and Sam. "Same thing we were." You admitted. "Eh?" "Well, there was an arrangement we agreed on... If I told you how I felt, she'd tell Sam how she felt." You admitted. Pippin chuckled. "Sam might drop dead with joy then." Pippin said with a smile.
Frodo blinked as he watched two of his friends fall in love. "What the bloody hell is happening?" Merry asked. "...I think we're watching our friends fall in love Merry." Frodo said. "Oh no. No no no. Tell me we're not growing into adults, I'd have to kill myself." Merry whined. Frodo snorted. "I think we're safe. Those two though... I think they've succumbed to romance."

Tumblr media
You had grown up next to Boromir in the beautiful kingdom of Gordor. However when you were about the age of twenty you decided to venture out and explore, leading you to Rivendell. There you met him.
He was a man who immediately caught your eye, making your heart practically jump from your chest. At first, the two of you ignored each other's presence. However you were quite the busy one, always helping whoever you could out. This wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for the fact that this man typically profited from the same thing. It seemed you were always one step ahead of him, taking bounties off boards, fetching items from caves, even assisting farmers. You were that strange girl from Gondor. It seemed the only thing keeping the man from being completely questless was Gandalf.
Finally though, you officially crossed paths one night in the Prancing Pony. You were sitting at a table with your nose in a book, feeling someone staring at you. Your eyes wandered up to the closed figure smoking from a pipe, making you curious. Why he was there confused you, what confused you even further was the interest he had in the hobbits that walked in. You kept to your book seeing as once they had walked in, the man's interest fell to them. You read, confused further as you heard the hobbit ask for Gandalf, a wizard who hadn't set foot in the inn for months. Still the hobbits sat, two being amazed at the size of pints.
You got up, prepared to go as the crowds got louder before a strange thing happened. First, there was the debunking of one of the hobbit's name. Underhill was proven to be an alias by the brunette hobbit's friend at the bar who was clearly unable to hold a pint. The second thing that perplexed you was the hobbit flat out disappearing. You blinked, staring at the spot the hobbit was in confused, looking up to see that the cloaked man was now gone.
You quickly adjourned to your room, chalking this up for lack of sleep. What could turn anyone invisible after all? You laid down, allowing silence to fall over the room. You did drift off to sleep before another unusual combination of things woke you up. The smell of blood seemed to fill the air, along with a loud screaming like noise. You leaned up, slightly alarmed. Was that a dream? You slowly got up and jumped at the sound of knocking.
You opened the door to see the man. "May we come in?" He asked. "...We?" You asked. He motioned down, you seeing the hobbits behind him. You opened the door and he walked in with the hobbits. "I know you do not know me, not officially at least. I am Strider, a ranger." That title was something that gained immediate trust in you. "I need your assistance, Gandalf, should we find him can provide you with a payment." He said. You shook your head. "I need no payment, only details. What do you need assistance with?" You asked, grabbing your armor. "We need to make way to Rivendell, Frodo possesses the ring of power." He said. You halted, slowly turning to him. "The... the ring? The one ring?" You asked. "Yes." "The ring to rule them all?" "Yes." "That noise that woke me.... tell me those weren't..." "Ringwraiths" you sucked in a breath and put on your armor. "Rivendell will be a challenge, but one I know well." You said, grabbing your pack. "We stay off the roads and none of us go anywhere alone." You said sternly. Everyone nodded and you grabbed your blade, sheathing it.
You traveled for days, you often letting yourself look at Strider while he wasn't aware. You sat next to him on a rock as the hobbits slept. "Couldn't sleep?" You asked. "I'm typically awake during the night." He said. "I have that same problem." You chuckled. He smiled slightly at the sound of your laugh. He had noticed you long ago in Rivendell, unsure if you had even seen him. You typically found yourself with Arwen each time you stayed with the elves. She enjoyed spending time with you, listening to you speak of your home.
Strider though remembered the day you came into Rivendell. Your hair was braided back, certain strands sticking to your face from the rain. He was wearing regular clothing, standing next to Elrond. You were very respectful and official the entire time asking for shelter but something was off. You were shaking and pale, seemingly ill. You actually were very sick. This was made clear by Elrond granting permission and then you trying to follow him to your accommodations but collapsing before more was said.
Quite the impression you made on everyone that day. But Strider noticed you. From then on, it was difficult to not not know who you were. As annoyed as he was with you taking most jobs that provided him with income, Strider took notice in your typical refusal in payment. You were humble, you were kind. The people of Bree knew that, repaying you with free food and bedding.
"May I ask you something, Master Strider?" You asked. He nodded for you to speak. "How long have you been watching me?" You asked. He chuckled to himself. "I have not been subtle, have I?" He asked. You smiled, his heart beating faster as you did. "Well it's hard to ignore when we keep crossing paths coincidentally." You said. He chuckled, looking down. "I have been shadowing you for quite some time, though I'm not sure why." He admitted. "If I didn't know you as friend to the elves, my blade would be well acquainted with your chest at this moment." You said making him look over. "A fearsome one you are." He teased. You rolled your eyes. "I feared for your safety, truth be told. I knew the black riders were coming." He said. "How long have you known?" You asked.
He debated on what to tell you, struggling silently. "Gandalf sent me on a quest. I wasn't told much, but I could see what was coming." He admitted. You nodded. "it's odd to me that most of middle earth knows Gandalf." You said making him chuckle. You looked over at Strider. "Thank you. For... For looking out for me." You said softly. Strider smiled at you. "anytime."
From then on, the two of you seemed to be closer, always muttering subtle jokes to one another, making each other laugh. The hobbits were confused by the change in both of you but didn't question anything out loud. The group finally settled on a place for camp on a mountain, a few days from Rivendell. "does it bother you that Pippin is treating this like a camping trip?" Strider asked as you picked berries. Fire would be a bad choice in such a location. "yep." You breathed. "I can't fault them though... I mean... Hobbits, they're typically very introverted compared to the rest of the world. This is new to them." You said softly. "...New as in they're doing specifically what we told them not to do." Strider said nodding to the fire. You sighed, standing up.
Then you felt it. Your blood ran cold as the smell of blood intensified. You heard that shriek and took off, Strider following not far behind. The hobbits found themselves cornered as you and Strider rushed forward, Strider using fire to steer the enemy away. You however saw Frodo in danger. You bolted forward as the Nazgûl swing it's blade, taking the hit meant for the hobbit. Time seemed to move slower, voices fading as Strider forced the enemy back. The ringwraiths disappeared as you stumbled, falling forward onto the ground. "It appears we've won" Pippin said relieved. "Master Y/n!?" Frodo yelped panicked. Your eyes seemed white as you struggled to even speak. Strider kneeled. "no no no no" he whispered looking at you. You were shivering, making Strider pull off his cloak and wrapping it around you. "We need to move, she needs elvish medicine." Strider said, lifting you up.
You all trekked for days, Strider never leaving your side. However now it seemed you were getting even worse. You struggled to move, hell, breathing hurt. If you could speak, you were going to ask Sam to put you out of your misery. The group stopped in the woods, looking for medicinal herbs when Strider emerged with something odd.
An elf. She rushed over to your side, you looking at Arwen as sweat beaded on your face. "Ni've túl ana help tye. Lar- mime óma, túl at- ana i kal (I've come to help you. Hear my voice, come back to the light.)" She said softly. Your eyes flooded with tears from the pain coursing through you. Arwen shook her head. "She needs my father. I will take her." Arwen said. "Arwen no." Strider said. "I will be faster on my own. My brothers are nearby, we will be fine." She assured. "...Keep her safe." He said. "Ni indóme keep her varna. Yare se na- better, nimeár- her manen tye feel. (I will keep her safe. When she is better, tell her how you feel.)"
He watched as Arwen rode off with you in his arms. "What are we to do now?" Frodo asked Strider. "We continue to Rivendell, faster, all of you." He said, rushing as they walked. "should I not have given her the ring?" Frodo asked. Aragon paused. "You... Did what?" "I heard the elf ask for it when she looked at me, she told me she was bringing to to Rivendell." Frodo said. "then that means.... SHIT!"
Arwen rode as the ring was clenched in her hand, the black riders all galloping behind her. They knew somehow that the ring had been switched. Your eyes watched hazily as Arwen held you close, bobbing and weaving through the trees, hoping to lose them. She approached the river. "Give us the mortal, She-elf." One of the black riders hissed. "You want her, come and claim her." She said, drawing her blade in front of you. The Nazgûl prepared to cross but Arwen chanted, summoning the waters to wash them out.
Relief washed over Arwen before you cringed, yelping with pain. "No, Y/n, don't give in, not now!" She whimpered, lowering you. Your eyes closed as you accepted death, feeling every breath you took. Light seemed to blind you as you blinked a few times to reawaken in a room. "...Where am I?" You whispered. "You're in Rivendell." A voice answered. You slowly leaned up to see Boromir in a chair. Your eyes widened and he smiled. "you gave us a fright you know. Faramir nearly fought me to come instead." He said. You smiled as Boromir hugged you. You smiled, looking at him before you noticed a pair of eyes staring at you.
"Strider." You said relieved. He entered, feeling hesitant towards even speaking. "the hobbits, are they alright?" You asked. "Yes. All of them are fine." He assured. "are you fine?" You asked concerned. Damn it, he couldn't stay upset with that face. "I am fine." Strider said softly. "well if Strider ran off in here I'm sure it's her room!" A voice said. "what if you're wrong Pippin?" "Then we'll apologize and leave!" Pippin said walking in. You snorted and he looked at you triumphantly. "see I told you it was right-" the others pushed past him, including one extra human. "There you are!" "I thought I told you not to come Faramir." "Nonsense, my sister needed me, I was going to be here." The man snapped. "Are you alright? Is everything fine?" Frodo asked as the brothers bickered. "I'm fine Master Frodo. I think this belongs to you." You said quietly, handing him the ring. He took it, looking at you. "you look tired." Sam noticed, making the men hush. "I am. Of this bed." You said, slowly letting your feet touch the ground. You stumbled forward, Strider holding your arms so you wouldn't fall. Boromir rose a brow and Faramir looked at his brother with a questioning look, earning a confused shrug.
You looked into Strider's eyes and he looked into yours, almost seeming sad. Why was he sad? You opened your mouth but was interrupted. "I see everyone has found you." Elrond said, making Strider drop his hands. "Indeed it seems so." You chuckled. "Perhaps you need food?" Elrond asked. "Food sounds nice." You said softly. You took a step, legs still stiff and Boromir put a helping arm around you. "thank you" you said.
You soon sat in the food hall, Arwen looking relieved to see you. "Thank you Arwen." You said softly as she sat next to you. "I was worried I wasn't going to make it." She said. "oh no, I had faith you'd pull through. Well... Sort of, it was pretty touch and go there before I passed out" you admitted earning laughs from everyone. Strider through, seemed quiet. He'd look at the man sitting next to you and then you, before looking back at his plate. After a few minutes, he excused himself. "...Any idea what's bothering Strider?" You asked. "might be the two men you have with you." Arwen said, sipping wine from her goblet. "why's he got a problem with Faramir and Boromir?" You asked. "Probably because it seems like you and Boromir are together." Arwen said. You dropped your fork and Boromir gagged. "by the Valar- NO." you cringed. "What is the relationship amongst you all?" Frodo asked. "These two are practically my brothers, nothing would ever happen between any of us even if you paid us." You gagged. "agreed." Both men said.
"Even if it does appear differently though, why would Strider be bothered by that?" You asked. Everyone looked at you. "....Tell me you are not this dense." Faramir sighed. "What?" You asked confused. "She doesn't know? I thought from the look the two gave each other, that she knew?" Boromir said. "Know what?" You asked. Everyone exchanged glances before speaking in unison "Strider loves you"
You paused, looking at them "No, there's no way-" "Y/n... Talk to him." Arwen said. "But-" "Go!" Faramir ushered. You sighed, getting up and walking outside. Your legs finally felt better, though you still limped a little. Strider was not in sight, so you walked, wandering until you found him with the shards of Narsil. You stood next to him and he looked over. "I've heard the story of this when I was a child. How Isildur's sword broke during the war..." You said softly. Strider though, stared at this sword with an unfamiliar expression. It seemed... Heavy to him to even be in the same room as the object. "Strider?" You asked. He looked up and then at you. "I have not been honest about my identity Y/n." He said. You rose a brow, confused. "I am no simple ranger I am..." He stared at the sword and sighed. Your eyes widened, you putting everything together. "You're Isildur's heir?" You whispered. He nodded grimly. You looked at him surprised. "My real name is Aragon." He admitted. "I imagine this is quite the burden on you." You admitted. He looked at you slightly taken aback by you handling this so well. He stared at you confused.
You stared at the shards, them now having a new weight to them. "Boromir wanted so badly for himself to be the heir." You said. Aragorn clenched his jaw. You took no notice to that, continuing. " He wanted to be a hero to his people, ending the cursed line..." You said softly. You looked at Aragorn. "He's a good man Aragorn, and he means well. He's like my brother." You said. Aragorn finally looked over. "Brother?" He asked, slightly relieved. "You didn't think we were together did you? Because if so... Ugh." You grimaced making Aragorn smile. You looked at him and squinted slightly. "Why do you care?" You asked. He seemed to freeze up. "Wowww you reveal your identity and NOW is the time you choose to freeze up." You said making him chuckle slightly. He shook his head. "I do not feel it is wise to say." He said, walking. You followed. "Aragorn." You sighed. "I should see if Elrond needs-" "Ni am -esse mel as tye (I am in love with you.)" You said making him stop. His eyes went wide looking at you astonished. He didn't move, he didn't dare to as the two of you stood there in silence. Finally though, he moved, kissing you.
Even in his spontaneous decision he was gentle, holding your face as if you were the most precious thing to him. He loved you. He cherished you. You smiled as he rested his forehead on yours. "You are a gift to the world." He said softly. Your thumb ran over his wrist. "I love you." You whispered. "I love you too... And it seems we have an audience" he said noticing the group of people watching you. "Oh by all means, don't stop on my account." Arwen teased. Boromir snorted. You sighed, looking at Aragorn. "...Shall we adjourn to another location?" He asked. You smiled. "yep."

Hello! Could you do some headcanons for an olympic figure skater reader and the company? Like one day the reader is just skating on a frozen lake and the company sees them, so the reader just starts showing off. I‘d love to see their reaction! (Sorry if this is confusing english isn’t my first language, also i love your Destiny Calling fic! <3)
Alrighttttt I love your support friend.
Set in a modern!AU
You had been doing this since you were a kid
You had been training nonstop, it was your passion.
And it all started with a roadtrip.
You sat in the back of your coach's SUV
"Why am I practicing in Bree again?" You asked, fiddling with a bear you'd kept around for good luck.
"Cheap. Plus it's only a couple of hours from Rivendell, it might do us some good to be out and about, away from the familiar territory." She replied, parking.
You sighed. "Is it just us?" You asked.
"Eh. Some group apparently is coming but it's nothing big. Maybe like.... eight nine people. Dunno, Barliman wasn't clear. But uh... it's an outdoor rink Y/n, more people will in fact see you." She shrugged.
You sighed, getting out the car.
Lately you had been in this slump.
You were in the Olympics the last time it was held and suffered an injury.
Two months it took you to even approach the ice
It was like you were starting your career all over again.
You walked into the rink quietly, setting down your bag and putting on your skates.
You heard small bouts of laughter and giggles, making you look at your coach.
"First time since last year you'll have an audience. Plus they're just here for the food apparently, I asked." Your coach encouraged.
You nodded.
"Should I ask for the speakers?" She asked.
"No, I got my earbuds." You said, holding your phone up.
"Alright... you got this." She said.
You nodded, approaching a nearby bench to do stretches.
The first to notice was Frodo, but he kept quiet, complaining that Sam stole yet another French Fry.
You took your jacket off, approaching the ice.
You looked at your coach with hesitance but she shot you two thumbs up of encouragement.
You pressed play on your phone, sliding out and waiting for the queue for you to move.
Finally the piano started and you slowly moved.
Aragorn noticed movement but paid no attention until your first jump.
He found himself staring as you swapped directions with ease, raising one leg and turning sharply.
"What's got his attention?" Gimli asked before Legolas soon was staring with him.
You wanted this routine to be perfect.
You had to.
This was the same routine that got you injured, if you couldn't ace this, this was your stopping point.
You lowered yourself as the song slowed, bending backwards with grace.
Your coach seemed nervous as you rose back up.
Flashbacks of what happened last time bombarded her.
"Y/n maybe you should stop here-"
You sped back up, making her gulp but you jumped.
Time seemed to slow down as your coach watched, prepared to run out onto the ice.
You certainly captured the groups attention as you seemed to fly above the ice, spinning and then landing it.
Your coach let out a breathy laugh of relief as you spun and slowed back down before finishing with a flourishing bow.
"You did it! You actually did it!" She said relieved.
You stared at you the ice and then your legs.
"...I did it." You nodded.
"Do you think you can get the next routine down then?" She asked.
You nodded with a smile.
"That's my gal, come on."
The group watched you practice steps but noticed they weren't in order.
"Alright. Think you put that all together for our lovely audience?" She asked, motioning to the small group that gained three new members.
You nodded.
"Who is that?" Aragorn asked.
Arwen sipped her drink.
"That's Y/n L/n. She's actually an Olympic skater." She said, earning shocked looks from the table.
"The hell is she doing out here then?" Pippin asked.
"She suffered an injury the last time she competed, apparently it messed her up but it seems like she's getting back out there." She said.
"Glad to see it, she's talented." Éowyn said watching you.
You seemed to completely change demeanor, this time music playing over the speaker and your coach was in the rink with you.
You were skating to some sort of tango type song, sliding across the ice.
"TURN!" your coach shouted, you turning and skating backwards.
"FASTER, MOVE WITH THE MUSIC Y/N!" she yelled.
You swapped legs with the tempo, skating across the ice
You jumped once
Then again, this time sliding out with one foot as you landed.
Then to everyone's shock, spun and abruptly stopped.
Sam found himself clapping along with Merry and Pippin making you smile with relief.
"She's back bitches!" Your coach screamed.
"FAMILY ESTABLISHMENT!" Barliman yelled
"....Sorryyyy!"

Hello! If you like, I'd wanted to request some fluffy Fili x Beorning!reader. Like some flirting and obvious attraction between him and this bear woman twice his height. Maybe her first kiss being with him? Thank you and have a good one!
Life as a Beorning was odd to say the least. Some might consider it lonely if they knew the deep hatred for your people. You were unusual, not many people liked unusual. You were taller than most and also had the added factor of having the ability to turn into a bear. Gandalf however, found nothing wrong with this. In fact, he had an idea for you.
It all started with a mere suggestion. Fili had needed help with some large hunting trip and none of the company wanted to assist, all too busy with something at the time. You however showed up, hair in a long braid with a sword on your back. "Master Fili?" You asked. "...Yes?" He said confused, gaping at the obvious height difference between you two. "Gandalf told me you require assistance. Hunting?" You asked. "...Yes." Fili finally nodded. When Gandalf mentioned a Beorning potentially helping, he actually thought he meant the one he had met years ago, one that was a man. However you were a female and Fili had never seen you before.
You sighed. "Master Fili, can you please not stare?" You said, stopping Fili's train of thought. "Right. Sorry! Yep, let's go a hunting!" He said, walking. You followed for many miles in silence. Fili took this as awkward, you took this as a chance to listen to nature. "So..." Fili began making you look over at the small man. "What's it like? Being a Beorning?" He asked. You looked ahead and sighed. Many minutes were spent in silence making Fili believe he might've upset you. He opened his mouth to apologize but was met with an unexpected answer. "Lonely."
You finally reached the forest, it being nightfall as you did. You set up camp, sitting on a log at the campfire. "I didn't realize this could be lonely." Fili finally said. You looked up. "Not many people enjoy the presence of something unusual. I am not only tall, I am a bear." You explained. He nodded silently. "I don't find you unusual." He said after another bout of silence fell over the two of you. You smiled softly and that's when something happened.
Fili's heart hammered against his chest and he swallowed. "So... Might I ask what we are hunting, master Fili?" You asked. "...Uh... Right. Well, you see there's this nearby village I've been staying in." He said, clearing his throat. You nodded. "There's something attacking their people, killing them." He said. "Are we sure it's an animal?" You asked. "...Nope." "Well... I appreciate your honesty." You shrugged. "How will we know we've found it?" You asked. "Well, one of the villagers has claimed that they landed an elvish arrow into it, so I figure if we just went into the nearby wood and looked for a creature with an elvish arrow embedded into it's pelt, we'd be fine." He explained. "How do these people not know what's attacking them?" You asked. "It only attacks when it's out of sight." He told you. You frowned.
That sounded like something with motive. A purpose other than hunting for food. Animals do not hunt with motive. You looked at the fire in thought before speaking again. "You need sleep master Fili." He looked over. "So do you." He said. "I'm sure we'll both be fine so long as they see a giant bear next to you." You said simply. He blinked as you shapeshifted before his eyes, your large figure transforming into a bear. You walked in a circle, laying on the ground with a thud. Fili blinked before laying down on his pack and watched as you slept.
The morning sun hit your face and you leaned up, grunting to the smell of something cooking. "Oh morning!" Fili said. You nodded and he cleared his throat. "...You do realize you're still a bear right?" He asked. You actually forgot. Holy shit. Your fur soon retracted, you changing back to normal. "Sorry about that. Bear form is comfortable" you said softly as you got up. "No worries." He said. You noticed a plate of cooked eggs. "You went hunting?" You asked. "Actually, I managed to get a bunch off preserved food." He said motioning to his pack. "Let's just say that village is happy we're killing this thing." He said. You nodded. "Do you have any idea where we'd be going?" You asked. "Well, I figured we'd follow the large claw marks on trees. And the blood." Fili said making you frown. You nodded slowly. "But first. We eat." He said, handing you a plate.
You took it, nodding as a thank you. "Are you the only dwarf in your clan or something?" You asked. "No, I have my brother. And the rest of the company is like my brothers." He said. "Where are they?" You asked. "Well the company all is set out with their own ventures and my brother...." His eyes seemed dark, filled with sadness. "He passed I'm afraid." He said. "I'm sorry master Fili." You said softly. "It's... well it's not alright, the man was young but... It's not as if you can bring him back" he shrugged. You nodded, seeming to relate to the feeling.
"Have you ever... lost anyone?" He asked. You nodded. "I had a clan." You said softly, finishing your food. "They were.... hunted. All of them." You said. Fili looked at you sympathetically. "Beorning pelts are famously warmer than a bears so... they were hunted." You said, clearing your throat. "I'm sorry Y/n." He said softly, putting a hand over yours. You looked at him slightly confused. This was the first touch of a person you'd ever recieved. And you didn't hate it.
Your heart also confused you as it started hammering against your insides, you swallowing hard. What was this feeling? Love? No it couldn't be, you just met him. Ah. Wait. Maybe it was... Maybe it was hatred! You cocked your head to the side like a confused dog. You didn't feel that intense burn of wanting to kill him, so what was this? Your thoughts were interrupted by a snap of a twig, you standing up. The poor dwarf who was holding your hand, was yanked up with you. "Oh-Sorry master Fili." You gasped, helping him up. "Its alright! I'm fine I'm fine!" He assured. Your attention again was detered by another crack. You grabbed your sword, ready to pounce like a cat before a rabbit shot out of the woods.
Fili sighed. "It was just a rabbit." He said, slightly relieved as he lowered his blades. "No." You stated, still on guard. You knew better than that. Your ears were a lot better than the average persons, you heard a low growl and it wasn't that of a wolf's. Whatever this was, it was large. Fili looked at you, then back into the woods before seeing a red glint. It was eyes. You gripped your sword, eyeing the creature before it seemingly retreated. Fili looked at you. "Should we follow?"he asked quietly. You said nothing, sheathing your sword and pouring water on the campfire before lifting your bag.
"We hunt." You said simply, walking into the woods further. Fili followed, noticing the unsettling silence of the woods. You followed claw marks before noticing something under a bush. As you got closer, a stench got stronger, an unmistakable smell of death. You kneeled, pulling the source forward to see a man, disfigured to hell and back. Fili gagged at the stench and you stood up, frowning. "Whoever did this, it's something big and it's something with motive." You said, before walking further.
The smell of death got worse, Fili following with a cautious glance. "Y/n, maybe we should turn-" the low growl emitted again and you glared, drawing your sword. "Step out, now." You said, Fili filling with fear. Out came a wolf that stood on two legs. No. Not a wolf. But a man. It was something that alarmed you. "What is that!?" Fili gasped. You glared at it. "Take your form, werewolf." You said. It took the form of a man, one that looked annoyed. "What do you want?" He asked, voice low and filled with resentment. "You've been slaughtering innocent people, why?" You asked. He let out a humorless laugh. "Asking for answers before killing me? That is low Beorning." He said bitterly. You stood ready in case he pounced. "I am simply looking for food. Tis the villagers fault for making this easy." He said. "Surely you have more motive than that." Fili said. It was then that he noticed the dwarve.
A surge of protectiveness washed over you, the werewolf looking as if was ready to pounce on Fili. You slowly shifted in front of Fili, confusing him. What were you doing. "You want the dwarf, you go through me." You said through gritted teeth. "Well, well, well. Didn't take you to be one for protective considering his people killed yours." He said, you glaring at him. Fili looked at you slightly shocked. You felt this burning rage, one that made you let out a low growl similar to a bear. The man seemed to enjoy your anger. "How do you even exist? Your kind died out right as the second age began." You said. The man let out a low laugh, unsettling Fili. "You know why I'm back. Corruption will run rampant through these lands." Fili frowned. What did that mean? You however understood exactly what this meant.
This was far more dangerous than a hunting quest. This was something off, something dangerous. "You've noticed it. I know you have. The goblins roaming further than they used to, the monsters that usually stayed in the caves are now wandering outside. You know exactly how I am here." He said. Fili still wasn't following but that didn't seem to matter as you charged, a loud growl emitting from the werewolf as you attacked. You swing your sword, cutting his arm before he gripped the blade, preparing to break it.
However this did not happen. Fili swung at the creature and severed its arm off. A loud howl came from the man. You looked surprised but swung again. Fili however was hit with a stray scratch, a ting of fear filling you. You swung, this time slashing his chest and he collapsed, falling to his knees. "You cannot stop the corruption from spreading" he said before falling over and dying.
You ended up back at camp, cleaning the wound. Relief washed over you when you realized the lycanthropy didn't take. Fili was quiet the entire time as you patched him up. "You never mentioned it was the dwarves that killed your clan." Fili finally said. You sighed, looking at him. "You didn't kill my clan Fili. Neither did your company." You said softly. "But how do you know that--" "because I kept eyes on those men till they died." You said. Fili looked at you shocked. "...Perhaps we should rest--" "No, we need to find Gandalf." You said. "What?" Fili asked. "I will explain on the way, but I need to speak to gandalf." You stated.
So off you went, Fili waiting patiently for you to explain everything but again, silence filled your walk. Truth be told, your mind was racing. "Why are we looking for Gandalf?" Fili asked. "...Change is coming. Whether it's good or not is up for debate but right now it's bad. Very bad." You said, rushing as you walked. Fili noticed something. "Wait Y/n stop." He said. "What?" You asked. "You're injured." He said. "What?" "You have a large gash on your shoulder. Must've been when you swung at the man, I noticed your arm hit a branch but you didn't show a reaction so I thought I was wrong." He said.
"We have to-" "Gandalf can wait. You took care of me, now let me take care of you." He said. You sighed, shoving off your pack. "And I don't see why this can't wait until morning, you need rest." He said. You grumbled, one might argue like a bear. You argued mentally with yourself before speaking again. "Thank you. For... helping me." You muttered. "Well, you saved my hide back there, pretty sure he would've killed me if he was given the chance. So.." he said, cleaning the wound. You winced, him apologizing quickly. "Sorry- shit-Sorry!" He said, as you cringed again. "Part of me wishes we were closer to snow so we could just numb it and be done with this." You grumbled. Fili chuckled ever so slightly. "So where will you go... after we get to Gandalf?" Fili asked.
You stared at the ground. "I dunno. Usually I just wander until I find something to do." You said. "My mother used to tell me that wanderers were lost, looking for their purpose." He said. "Not all those who wander, are lost Fili." You said softly. "Glad to know she was wrong. Wouldn't want you to feel lonely." He said with a chuckle. "I never said I wasn't lonely. It usually is very quiet where I wander. It's... It's nice most of the time but lately I'm just... I'm tired of it." You admitted. Why you were saying these things aloud you didn't know. But Fili paused, looking at you. "You could... always wander to me." He said.
You paused for a moment before turning to the dwarf. "...Are you suggesting friendship?" He cleared his throat. "I'm uh... actually suggesting more than friendship..." he coughed. Your eyes went wide and your cheeks grew hot. "I see." You said, rising. "....Well?" "I will think about it." Was where you left it.
You traveled to Rivendell where Gandalf was residing for the time being. Whatever you said was treated with seriousness Fili hadn't seen before. You finally came out of the room, Fili sitting on bench. You paused, looking out at the scenery. "What's happening?" He asked. "I'm not sure, it has to be looked into." You answered. Thoughts came to you, many at a time. You wanted so badly for Gandalf to give you a quest but alas, you were told to wait. You had nowhere to go.
You sighed. "Fili... I accept your offer." You said, cheeks again warm. He jumped at this, staring at you. He never found you intimidating until now. You were three times his height. "Tell me you haven't changed your mind-" "No! No my feelings remain unchanged I just... I'm taking in your beauty." He said. You grunted, seeming to struggle to speak. "I-I... Well thank you I... I'm not good with these things so--" "It's alright. Now... I'm sure if we went back to the village, a great feast would await us." Fili suggested. You nodded slowly. "Fili... Uh..."you shuffled. He stared at you confused as you kneeled to his level. "I appreciate this. And you. For everything you've done" you said, still not making eye contact. Fili smiled slightly before doing something you didn't expect.
He kissed you. He cleared his throat, blinked, face extremely red before he walked off. "Are you coming?" He asked. You stood up, swallowing hard. "Uh huh... le... lead the way."

How ticklish is each member of the fellowship?
HAHAHA I LOVE THIS!
Tumblr media
Aragorn:
Not ticklish at all.
Finds it amusing when anyone tries really.
It's like he doesn't feel anything?
Tumblr media
Legolas:
Like Aragorn he doesn't have a reaction
He will he puzzled by any attempts you make to tickle him
Like... why? What are you doing? What's the purpose?
Tumblr media
Pippin:
Do not tickle, he will wage war IN YOUR SLEEP
He is in fact ticklish but he will take it as a challenge when you tickle him and will attack you with tickles.
He will tackle your ass to the ground
Tumblr media
Merry:
This goofball will cease all movement before planking if you tickle him
He laughs like a dying goat
He eventually curls into a ball if you tickle him long enough but he finds it fun
Tumblr media
Gimli:
He will pretend to not be ticklish but if you tickle him
He will laugh so loud people will hear that shit for miles
You might not wanna do that on a mission, especially if it's during the events of lord of the rings, Saruman would literally know your exact location.
Tumblr media
Boromir:
He's like Gimli in the sense that he tries to act like he's not ticklish
He is.
He will let a laugh slip and then freeze like a iguana in the cold.
Tumblr media
Frodo:
Frodo is in fact ticklish but he's like a less extreme Pippin where he will tickle you back
Adorable laugh
Actually, adorable reaction, it's adorable 10/10
Tumblr media
Sam:
He is surprisingly not ticklish
He will feel bad though and like... fake a reaction
It's odd, why isn't he ticklish?
Tumblr media
Gandalf:
You can't tickle him
Literally, the second you would try, bitch would fling you.
Like "oops. Thought you were a fly. My bad." And you'd have a crack rib or some shit.

Destiny Calling Chapter Ten
Tumblr media
You weren't thrilled that you had to do more riding. Especially after your wonderful experience with the first horse you had to ride. To conserve space however, you and Aragorn shared a horse, your hands around his torso. He held one hand over yours keeping his other around the reigns. "It’s true, you don’t see many Dwarf women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance that they’re often mistaken for Dwarf men." Gimli told Éowyn. She looked back, smiling at you and you chuckled. "It’s the beards." You whispered, making an invisible beard with your hand. Éowyn resisted a snort and Aragorn smiled, hushing both of you so you wouldn't be heard by the dwarf. "This, in turn, has given rise to the belief…" You rolled your eyes. "…that there are no Dwarf women…" You looked at Aragorn, resting your head on his shoulder. "Enjoying yourself?" He asked. "I'm certainly enjoying the view." you said, making him chuckle. He kissed you, smiling against your lips.
"I'm hopping off." you said. He nodded as you dismounted, walking with Éowyn as Gimli spoke. "and that Dwarves just spring out of holes in the ground…" Gimli finished. You smiled, Éowyn laughing with Gimli as they discussed dwarven culture. Gimli's horse neighed, sending him back as a few refugees looked over. "It’s all right. Nobody panic." He said, you helping him up. "That was deliberate. It was deliberate." He said, you shaking your head at Aragorn making him smile.
"I haven’t seen my niece smile for a long time. She was a girl when they brought her father back dead. Cut down by Orcs." Théoden said, looking at her as she laughed at something you said. Aragorn said nothing, seeming sad to the fact. "She watched her mother succumb to grief. Then she was left alone, to tend her king in growing fear. Doomed to wait upon an old man who should have loved her as a father." Théoden added. You brushed Gimli off, him huffing but accepting this action. "Y/n has a way of being able to make people smile in dark times." Aragorn said. "How long have you loved her?" Théoden asked. "forty years." he admitted, watching you make Éowyn laugh again as you explained a story to her about your travels with Aragorn. "Forty years and not married? You'd have to be insane." Théoden chuckled. Aragorn chuckled. "Her father is the only thing standing in the way." He said. "Ah." Théoden nodded.
Time passed, Éowyn walking around with a pot. "Lady Y/n?" She asked. You shook your head. "I'm fine, thank you though." You said. "I made some stew. It isn’t much, but it’s hot." She said to Aragorn. She scooped out a bowl, handing it to Aragorn who took it. He ate some of it, his expression freezing so he wouldn't grimace at its terrible flavor. "It's good." He muttered. Éowyn looked away, Aragorn dumping the bowl out once she was looking away. "I saw that." You teased. He put a finger to his lips and you chuckled. "My uncle told me a strange thing." Éowyn said, walking with you two, oblivious to Aragorn's removal of the stew. "He said that you rode to war with Thengel, my grandfather. But he must be mistaken." She said. "King Théoden has a good memory. He was only a small child at the time." Aragorn admitted. "Then you must be at least sixty. Seventy? But you cannot be eighty!" Éowyn gaped. "Eighty-seven" Aragorn admitted. "You are one of the Dúnedain. A descendant of Númenor, blessed with long life. It was said that your race had passed into legend." She said, looking at him with surprise. "There are few of us left. The Northern Kingdom was destroyed long ago." He said. "If you don't mind me asking, how old are you lady Y/n?" Éowyn asked curiously. You pondered. "Legolas!" You called. The elf looked up. "Yes?" He asked. "I cannot recall my exact age, help me out here." You said. He rolled his eyes. "2,124." He said. "There. It's that." You shrugged. "Elves truly are blessed with immortal lives." She gaped.
You walked with Éowyn, smiling at her. "May I ask another question?" She asked. "Curious woman you are." you chuckled. "Sorry." She said. "There's nothing wrong about wanting to learn Éowyn. Please, ask away." you said. She smiled. "Were you the one that gave Aragorn the jewel around his neck?" She asked. "I was. It's my family's symbol." you admitted. "To give a family symbol away like that, surely you know what that represents." She said, surprised. "I do." you said with a smile. Aragorn looked at you puzzled. "Aragorn does not though." you said, chuckling. "Are you going to give context?" He asked. "hmm. I think I'm letting you figure this one out." you said, walking ahead with Éowyn.
Háma rode past you, Théoden looking up. "What is it? Háma?" Gamling asked. "I’m not sure." Háma said. You halted, listening to nature before drawing your blades. Aragorn jumped down, drawing his blade. "What's wrong?" He asked. You gulped, clearly nervous after your last experience. "Wargs." you said. "Wargs!" Legolas shouted, you and Aragorn alerting the refugees. You and him charged into battle, Legolas shot an orc off of a warg, attacking the warg itself with his blade.
You mounted the horse, Aragorn sitting behind you. "All riders to the head of the column." Theoden yelled. Gimli struggled, eventually requiring assistance. "Come on. Get me up here. I’m a rider. Come on." He huffed. Théoden turned to Éowyn. "You must lead the people to Helm’s Deep, and make haste." Théoden said. "I can fight." She said as you rode past. "No! You must do this, for me." Théoden said, leaving Éowyn with the people. "Follow me!" The king yelled, you riding closely behind him. "Make for the lower ground!" Éowyn shouted to the refugees.
You rode into battle, both swords drawn as you jumped off of the horse, fighting orcs off of Legolas. Legolas shot a few behind you, Aragorn fighting the rest. A rider threw his spear, hitting another orc. You and Aragorn kept close to one another, fighting off orcs. Gimli let a warg charge at him, prepared to take it with his axe but Legolas shot it. "That one counts as mine!" Gimli shouted. Another soldier shot a warg down before another warg ran over him. Gimli nearly died until Aragorn slammed a spear into the creature, allowing Gimli to see another day. This may have been Aragorn's mistake, leaving you temporarily to protect Gimli. You slammed your sword into a warg before being tackled by another, your arm guard got caught forcing you to be dragged. "SHIT!" you gasped before stabbing the orc riding on the Warg, your sword shattered, your hilt hitting the ground as you were being dragged. You made attempts to get loose but failed before the Warg fell over the cliff. Your body collided with the water, feeling as if you were being slammed against stone. You were knocked out, letting out a breath.
Gimli yelled, killing another warg before they finally ran off due to the soldiers scaring them off. Aragorn sheathed his sword and looked beside him, noticing your absence. "Y/n!?" He called. He expected you to run over but anxiety filled him when he was met with silence. "Y/n!" Aragorn called, louder now as he did. Legolas called for you too. The orc you knocked off the warg let out a laugh. Aragorn ran over, looking at the devilish creature. "Tell me what happened and I will ease your passing." Aragorn said, a knife pointed at its throat. "She’s…dead. She took a little tumble off the cliff." The orc laughed. Legolas grabbed the orc, glaring at it. "You lie." he exclaimed. The orc laughed before letting out its final breath. Legolas tossed him to the ground, Aragorn noticing a green glint in the grass. He picked up what was shining, his heart dropping.
It was his ring. He looked over at the bottom of the cliff, seeing rushing waters. His heart was shattered, he was wondering if it were possible for him to just die of a broken heart right then and there. "Get the wounded on horses. The wolves of Isengard will return. Leave the dead." Théoden said to the men. "Come." Theoden said, Aragorn putting his ring in his pocket. Legolas and Gimli walked, their faces sad as they walked
"At last!" A woman gasped at the sight of Helm's Deep. "Helm’s Deep." Another person said. "There it is, Helm’s Deep." A small boy said. Éowyn stopped, looking at the large structure. "We're safe!" a refugee said. "We’re safe, my lady. Thank you." A woman said to Éowyn. She helped an elderly woman move on, the two children who came to the hall in Rohan riding past her. "Mamma!" The little girl said, running to a woman. "Freda!" She gasped. Éowyn looked at the food the people had and frowned. "Where is the rest?" She asked. "This is all we could save, my lady." A man answered. "Take it to the caves." She sighed. "Make way for the king. Make way for Théoden. Make way for the king." Gamling shouted. Éowyn ran over, noticing a decrease in the soldiers' numbers. "So few. So few of you have returned." She said, surveying the crowd. She was looking for you, seeing as she should've easily been able to spot the one lone female in this group. "Our people are safe. We have paid for it with many lives." Théoden answered. Gimli walked over to Éowyn, his face sad. "My lady." He greeted, his voice low as he did. "Lady Y/n…where is she?" She asked. "She fell." Gimli muttered, Aragorn looking like he himself had been shot despite not having any visible wounds.
Éowyn walked over to Aragorn looking in his eyes. "I am so sorry." She said. She hugged him, Aragorn didn't move. The man even appeared to be a wreck. He sighed after Éowyn let go, leaving with Legolas. He clutched your necklace, holding it in his fingers as Legolas turned around. "Take a few moments to grieve Aragorn. We have time." Legolas said. Aragorn looked at him, tears falling. He didn't realize he was even crying until he saw the tears fall onto his hands. Legolas hugged his friend as he sobbed. "I shouldn't have turned around- I should've-" he couldn't finish his sentence, Legolas holding his friend.
You had washed up on shore, your body unmoving. Well, at least it wasn't moving before a horse licked your face. Your shoulder was injured, as was your leg. You groggily opened your eyes, pulling yourself up by grasping the horse's reins. You threw yourself onto the horse, trying to voice your destination. "Hel... Helm's Deep." You whispered. The horse actually seem to register your words, riding off in the direction of Helm's Deep. Your tiredness slowly wore off. You assumed the exhaustion came from the blunt force of you hitting the water, seeing as it wore off as more time passed. You slowly encouraged the horse to move faster now that you were lucid enough to actually ride back to the group at Helm's Deep. You stopped on a hill, seeing forces march through. "Those are orcs..." You muttered before seeing how many there were. You gripped the reins, going as fast as you could.
Legolas looked up surprised as Aragorn sharpened his blade in the main hall. "Aragorn." Legolas called. Aragorn looked up as the doors to the keep were shoved open. You were soaked, your face determined. Aragorn sprinted to you. You stumbled, him holding your arms to keep you in place "The orcs- they'll be here by nightfall... We're not going to make it with just these men Aragorn, we're going to die." you said as Théoden walked passed. "They will break upon this fortress like water on rock. Saruman’s hordes will pillage and burn. We’ve seen it before. Crops can be resewn, homes rebuilt. Within these walls we will outlast them." He said. "They do not come to destroy Rohan’s crops or villages. They come to destroy its people, down to the last child." You said. Théoden turned to you in anger, Aragorn standing between you two. He let out angry breaths. "What would you have me do? Look at my men. Their courage hangs by a thread. If this is to be our end, then I would have them make such an end as to be worthy of remembrance." Théoden asked. "Send out riders, my lord. You must call for aid." Aragorn said. "And who will come? Elves? Dwarves? We are not so lucky in our friends as you. The old alliances are dead." Théoden asked. "My father would answer my call if I asked!" You said. "And just who is your father!?" He asked. "ELROND." you snapped. Théoden paused. "I can call for aid and I know that Gondor would answer." you suggested. "Gondor?! Where was Gondor when the Westfold fell?! Where was Gondor when our enemies closed in around us?! Where was Gon–? No, my Lady Y/n, we are alone." Théoden said with a shake of his head. "Gondor will answer." Aragorn agreed. Théoden walked towards the gate, ignoring you two. "Get the women and children into the caves." He said. "We need more time to lay provisions for—" "There is no time. War is upon us." Théoden said, you sighing.
"He's past reason." You muttered. "Contact your father, contact someone." Aragorn said. "You want me to go behind his back?" You asked. He shrugged. "Alright. I will do what I can." you nodded before turning to leave. Aragorn grabbed your hand, kissing you passionately. "Welcome back." He said before putting his ring back around your neck and running off to Legolas.
"Move back! Move to the caves!" A soldier yelled to the people. A line was formed, going down into the caves. "Come on, people! Quickly, now!" The soldier urged. "We’ll place the reserves along the wall. They can support the archers from above the gate." You said. "Y/n, you must rest. You’re no use to us half alive." Aragorn said. "My Lady Y/n!" a voice called. You turned to see Éowyn. "I’m to be sent with the women into the caves." Éowyn told you. You frowned. "Théoden really doesn't wish to have you fight." You muttered. "Still, that is an honorable charge." Aragorn said. "To mind the children, to find food and bedding when the men return. What renown is there in that?" Éowyn asked. "My lady, we cannot ask you to join us on the battlefield it is not our place." You said softly. "Let me stand at your side." She begged. "It is not in my power to command it." You said. "Surely you know how this feels Y/n..." She sighed. "Believe me I do. But I also know when my people need me." you said before leaving.
Aragorn sighed. "Y/n means well." He said. "I know... She is right." Éowyn said. "However... If a woman just... Happened upon the battlefield later... That would be very odd." He muttered, walking away. Éowyn smiled sadly to herself before turning to her people.
"Farmers, farriers, stable boys. These are no soldiers." Aragorn said looking to the soldiers as you put on your adjusted your vambraces. "Most have seen too many winters." Gimli said. "Or too few. Look at them. They’re frightened. You can see it in their eyes." Legolas said. Men turned around to all of you. "Boe a hyn neled herain dan caer menig. (And they should be three hundred against ten thousand!)" Legolas said. "Si, beriathar hyn ammaeg na ned Edoras. (They have more hope of defending themselves here than at Edoras…)" Aragorn replied. "Aragorn, nedin dagor hen ú-‘erir ortheri. Natha daged dhaer! (They cannot win this fight. They are all going to die!)." Legolas said. "Then I shall die as one of them." You said simply, brushing past the group. Aragorn followed, Legolas trying to leave with you. "Let them go, lad. Let them be." Gimli sighed.
"Y/n, did you get a response?" He asked. "I've communed with nature." You said, putting on a breastplate. "And received no answer." you added, looking at him. He frowned. "Y/n..." He sighed, pulling you into a hug. "I know this sounds so childish but... I'm so scared." You admitted. "I am too." Aragorn muttered, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "Whatever happens tonight Aragorn... Know that I love you." You said, looking into his eyes. "I love you too Y/n." He muttered.
Théoden stood in silence, deep in thought. "Every villager able to wield a sword has been sent to the Armory." Gamling said. "My lord?" He asked after receiving no response. "Who am I, Gamling?" Théoden asked. "You are our king, sire." Gamling answered. "And do you trust your king?" Théoden asked. "Your men, my lord, will follow you to whatever end." Gamling answered. "To whatever end." Théoden repeated. Gamling put Théoden's armor on him, trying to ignore the lowered morale. He wasn't stupid by any means. He knew his life would most likely end tonight.
You could feel the forces approaching, you praying silently that someone would answer your call. "Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?" Théoden asked. You sharpened your blade. "They have passed like rain on the mountains." You helped a boy with his armor, feeling absolute dread and sadness that someone so young had to fight like this. "Like wind in the meadow." A boy grabbed an axe, Aragorn frowning as he did. Why was Théoden so adamant about not asking for assistance? Gondor could have helped. Someone could've helped. "The days have gone down in the West" You walked through, seeing the soldiers with fear in their eyes. "behind the hills, into shadow." Aragorn stood next to you. "How did it come to this?" Théoden asked himself.
Aragorn noticed a child, looking scared as men shouted near him. "Give me your sword." He said. The boy handed him his sword, Aragorn taking it and examining it. "What is your name?" Aragorn asked. "Haleth, son of Háma, my lord. The men are saying we will not live out the night. They say that it is hopeless." He replied. "This is a good sword." Aragorn said, handing his sword back to him. "Haleth, son of Háma…" Aragorn began. He kneeled, putting his hand on Haleth's shoulder. "…there is always hope." Aragorn said.
You put on the rest of your armor in silence. You reached for your sword, realizing you lacked a second sword, your original one shattered after you took out a warg. Legolas handed you a new sword. You looked over. "I have trusted you since you were brought to Mirkwood. You have never led me astray. Forgive me. I was wrong to despair." Legolas said. You smiled. "Ú-moe edaved, Legolas. (There is nothing to forgive, Legolas.)" You said. You put a hand on his shoulder. "Aiqua happens síra. Sinte i tye were tare than faila mime otorno -esse arms. Tye are mime otorno till i tyelde mime nur.(Whatever happens today... Know that you were more than just my brother in arms. You are my brother till the end my friend.)" You said softly. Legolas hugged you and you smiled.
Gimli walked in with chainmail. "We had time, I’d get this adjusted." He sighed. He let go of his armor, it dropping to the floor making you snort. Aragorn walked in, looking at him before laughing silently. "It’s a little tight across the chest." Gimli said. You looked down trying not to laugh before you looked up abruptly. "There's no way." you gasped. "What?" Aragorn asked.
A horn sounded off, you rushing out and Aragorn following. "That is no Orc horn." Legolas muttered. "Send for the king. Open the gate!" A soldier yelled. "Open up the gate!" Another soldier yelled. Elves marched forward, you letting out a relieved laugh. "They came." You whispered under your breath. Aragorn gaped as Theoden walked out. "How is this possible?" He asked. "I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell. An alliance once existed between Elves and Men. Long ago we fought and died together. We come to honor that allegiance." Haldir said.
You ran out, hugging the elf. He hesitated but hugged you back. "Ni knew tye'd túl ter-.( I knew you'd come through.)" You said. Aragorn stepped out from the crowd, smiling at the sight of the familiar elf. "Mae govannen, Haldir. (Well met, Haldir.)" Aragorn said before hugging him too. He chuckled before Aragorn pulled away. "You are most welcome." Aragorn said. Legolas chose a less affectionate welcome, nodding to Haldir as a thank you. "We are proud to fight alongside Men once more." Haldir said. You smiled at your friend. "We go by your command My lady." Haldir said. "Me?" You asked, surprised. "Your father instructed to do specifically as you said. By no one else. But by you." Haldir said. You nodded, looking at Aragorn before shrugging.
You all eventually stood on the wall, waiting for the forces. Aragorn took his place next to you, you standing with your swords drawn. "Are you ready for what's to come?" Aragorn asked. You took in a deep breath. "No. But at least I've got you." You said. He smiled, looking out at the oncoming orcs. "any last pieces of advice?" A man asked you. "Yes. Charge with determination and fight with purpose so that your children may see the light of the next morning." You said. Aragorn blinked. "That was good advice." Aragorn said with a small smile. "What can I say?" You sighed.
"You have taught me well."

Lady of the Lake pt 2
Tumblr media
You stood on the wall, rain hitting your face as you looked at the army before you. You knew these men must've been scared out of their wits. You felt terror in your body along with them.
There are many theories as to why men scream when entering battle. Fear. To drive themselves. You stayed silent. Men were inspired by a speech given by Aragorn, as were you. They yelled and you just stayed silent, nodding in approval. Aragorn was next to you now, watching the lands. You could feel your tattoos practically burning. Should you use this ability? Should you risk death? Should you call for her?
You remembered the witch's warnings, you remembered what it was like meeting her once. Were you prepared to face that feeling again? Were you prepared for what may come?
As the orcs stood before you, you drew your blades, men following after. You weren't even listening to any orders being given. You were focused on the armies. You were ready for this. Now all you needed was that one word to be screamed. That one order so that you could charge. No one was moving, the silence being so loud. A man though, accidentally shot down an orc. You couldn't blame him. A person can only hold an arrow drawn for so long in the rain. Men tensed up and the orcs remained quiet. But finally an order was given.
"ATTACK!" was shouted, men charging and the sounds of sword fighting started. You blocked a few arrows, looking for Théoden. You found him fighting with ease, feeling a sense of safety as Haldir fought next to you. Aragorn also kept by your side, refusing to leave you outright. He felt as though he had lost enough, losing you was not going to happen on his watch.
Your blade struck down a orc behind Aragorn, you looking at him to silently ask his status. He nodded to you to say he was fine before you ran to the wall. You kept having this feeling. Someone was watching you. You spun around, the rain still coming down hard before you saw a shape in the night sky. It was a raven. You swallowed hard. She was watching. She knew something was going to happen. You ran across the wall, warning Théoden of the witch's arrival. He frowned, Gamling leading him into the keep for safety as you cut down any orc that tried to follow. You looked around to see the raven near Haldir.
You frowned as you started cutting down any orcs near you. It seemed like the bastards were just multiplying. You were trying to clear a path so Théoden would be safe while also trying to get to the elven general. You struck down another orc as another readied to kill you. It brought down its sword before Aragorn blocked the attack, stabbing it and kicking it back. A strike of lightning lit up the night. You turned to see Haldir orcs.
The battle raged on as you saw another blast of lightning and Haldir right before he was struck down. "NO!" You yelled, sprinting to him. Sound stopped. Everything felt frozen as his sword clattered to the ground. Aragorn yelled, running with you. You couldn't let your people lose. Not like this. You drew your dagger, looking at your wrist. The tattoos of chains seemed to almost move as you stared at them. Théoden ran towards safety before seeing a raven in the sky. He frowned before seeing you. He knew exactly what this omen was.
"Y/N NO-" "EVERYONE, OFF THE WALLS! NOW!" Gamling yelled as he noticed your dagger in your hand. Aragorn turned around, seeing you slide your blade across your wrist. A loud boom emitted from the skies, a force knocking everyone else over.
Aragorn slowly lifted his head seeing you standing. But there was a stranger sight. The rain had frozen in midair. It was like it had just stopped. Orcs were down, slowly rising. They were equally confused looking around them. "Atigat's ij witch katu! (There's a witch here!)" One of them shouted.
You were the lone woman, standing on the wall. Aragorn rose, using his blade as a source of leverage. "Y/N!" he called. He stumbled forward but a force seemed to block him. He blinked. "What magic curses this land!?" Gimli asked. "This isn't the land!" Legolas breathed. "Then what is-" You faced the battlefield. ".... It's her." Aragorn breathed. You steadied your breathing. "Lar- mime óma, ni am Y/n l/n, save mime nórë. Lar- mime summons (Hear my voice, I am Y/n L/n, save my people. Hear my summons)." You said, voice echoing.
Your voice wasn't raised. It was very low, but somehow it was traveling for miles. "What is she calling on!?" Legolas asked. "I don't-" a loud roar cut everyone off, a dark shadow flying overhead before landing in front of Helm's Deep. You locked eyes with a large bird before it took the form of a woman. Her hair was dark as the night that surrounded you, she wore red that resembled the blood on the ground. But her eyes, were a piercing yellow. Despite the strange characteristics, she was beautiful. But it didn't take a orc or a man to know who stood before everyone.
She looked at you, eyebrow raised. "You call on me, yet you know the risks. Is this what you wish to do?" She asked. You looked at Théoden and then to Aragorn. Your heart pounded in your chest as you nodded. "My life for these men." You said. She nodded. "Very well." She said, holding out her hand. She summoned a staff made of a dark wood, raven's feathers hanging off of it.
She spoke a language not even recognize by the elves but one you clearly knew as you spoke with her. A pulsating light formed in your chest. Your eyes seemed to glow as you both gripped the staff, speaking in the same ancient language. The rain water was moving to one spot, the orcs frozen in place. Morrigan watched you, saying nothing as you proceeded to use the rain almost like arrows.
Each of them fell, one by one. Morrigan finally slammed her staff into the ground, any wounds that the men had were healed, the orcs returning to the earth and leaving grasses behind. She looked to you as finally you let go. You saw the land, orcs gone, the battlefield still.
"Thank... you." You whispered before collapsing. Aragorn rushed forward, kneeling by your side. Morrigan stayed standing, not even giving you a second glance. Aragorn put his ear to your chest, hearing nothing as Théoden ran over. "What have you done!?" He asked Morrigan. She sighed. "'Twas the girl's choice Théoden. Her life for your men." She stated. Tears burned Aragorn's eyes.
Morrigan looked up to the sky. Théoden sobbed holding you close. He lost his son already, now he had to lose his daughter? Aragorn felt as if he left so many things unsaid with you. He felt something for you, something more intense than friendship. Morrigan looked behind her and saw the men all kneel in respect. You had changed the lives of so many people. "This girl. What has she done for you all?" She asked a man. "She saved me wife before the plague could take her..." "she saved my brother from a attack." "She always made sure my family wouldn't starve." "She loved my daughters and kept us safe." Morrigan closed her eyes, trying to make a choice. She sighed before turning to you. Your flesh was cold, your heart unmoving. She looked back at the battlefield. "She will live another day." She stated before tapping her staff to the ground and turning to a crow before flying away.
Aragorn looked at your body, still unmoving. His heart sank, him holding you close. Théoden bowed his head, tears falling from both of the men's faces.
Then... you coughed.
Aragorn pulled back, you coughing a few more times. He looked at you as you slowly leaned forward. "Y-you're alive!" Théoden breathed. "Indeed I am..." You muttered confused to your state. Aragorn looked at you up and down before kissing you. You sank into his arms, holding him close. "Don't you ever leave me again." He said. "No promises, I have shit do." You teased, him rolling his eyes. You stood up, looking at your wrists. The chains were gone now, replaced with strange runes.
"She... released me..." You muttered. Théoden looked at you confused. "Who was that woman?" Gamling asked. "The Morrigan. One of the most powerful witches in middle earth." You muttered. "You know the Morrigan!?" Legolas asked, clearly alarmed. "...I suppose I have some explaining to do. For all of you." You said.
You all returned to the hall, Rohan's people dancing and singing for their victory as you sat at a table with Aragorn, Éowyn and Théoden. You sighed, your eyes still looking at your runes. "The village... the first attack it was... it was my fault." You explained. Théoden looked at you confused. "When I was a child I had a history of having these... magical outbursts. Things would break on their own, objects would move... but then came a day when I heard my mother speaking to my older brother. She said that she couldn't take care of me anymore, my magic was becoming increasingly dangerous. So... I had a outburst and" you sighed, leaning back with sadness in your eyes. "I killed them. My selfishness costed most of the lives of my village and my friends. My mother remained and she just..." You shook your head. "You were a child Y/n..." Théoden said. "Murder is still murder. I killed them and that burden will stay with me for the rest of my life. " You said. "How did the Morrigan cross paths with you?" Aragorn asked.
"She was my guide to Rivendell. The travel was long and tiring indeed. But she guided me. The woman was cold at first but it was something where she observed me. Even after I was with the elves. The second time I used my abilities I used them again for my own life. I was attacked by Orcs roaming the lands and I found that I had a aptitude for controlling water so..." "You used the lake." Aragorn nodded. "Six men died because of me. It wasn't the whole village but it was enough to provoke Morrigan. She bound my abilities and told me if I were to use them again, it'd be lethal." You muttered. "How did those men die?" Éowyn asked. "Drowned... Caught in my crossfire but at the time I didn't care." You admitted. "Why did she let you live?" Théoden asked. "I-" "I believe I can answer that." A voice said.
Morrigan sat down, her staff by her side. "Y/n you started your journey dangerous and selfish. You were lethal to those around you and because you were a child with little understanding to the world, you didn't care. I bound you to me because someone needed to supervise you." Morrigan said. "Wait so her powers were locked until you showed up?" Aragorn asked. "Yes." Morrigan nodded. "...So why let me live back in Helm's Deep?" You asked. She sighed. "You have proven yourself to have changed. You're no longer that overly destructive child. You are someone who was willing to sacrifice her life for thousands. You chose your people over yourself." She explained. "Why are you here?" Aragorn asked. "Well I've never been one to miss a celebration." She said. "Really?" Éowyn asked. "No. Gondor may be in danger. I will be flying there tonight. Thought you all should know." She said before getting up. She walked off, opening the doors to the hall before turning into a raven and flying off.
You sighed. "She still watches you." Aragorn said. "I'm not sure as to why." You muttered. You turned to Éowyn and Théoden. "If you wish me to leave after this information... I understand-" "You saved us Y/n. You made it a point to save our people... as far as I know orcs happened upon the village." He said. You looked at Éowyn. "I still believe you to be a good person... have no fear Y/n our friendship has not and will not change my sister." She stated.
You smiled. "Thank you. Now... I believe there is a party and people want to see how much their king can drink." You encouraged. Both of them left the table and you played with your hands. "You deserve a break too you know." You said to Aragorn. "I should be saying the same to you." Aragorn said. You looked at him, and sighed. "We haven't... discussed... Us." You said. He rose a brow. "No we haven't." He agreed. "HA! I CAN GO FOR NINE MORE PINTS YOU LIGHTWEIGHT BASTARD!"
"Want to go outside?" You asked. "Please." He nodded before leaving with you. You sat on the steps of the hall, the stars scattered across the night sky. "You've sacrificed a lot." Aragorn said. "... I am scared... all the time... that I will become who I once was... and all of my work, all of my training.. everything will have been for nothing." You said. Aragorn sat next to you. "That won't happen." He said. You looked over. "How do you know?" You asked. "When all of us told you not to make that sacrifice you still did the moment you knew your men would all die. You made that split decision in a moment of fear that prioritized your people over your own life." He said. You looked at him. "You are very wise." You chuckled. He smiled. "87 winters and you'll learn somethings about the world." He said. "But not enough to take over Gondor, right?" You asked. He looked over. "I saw your ring... and I've seen you in visions." You explained. "...Visions of what?" He asked. You looked at him, almost seeing a vision as you made eye contact. For a split second you could see him with a crown in Gondor's armor. "You being king..." You admitted. He looked away, silent to your mentions of this.
"Why haven't you made a claim?" You asked. "I...I fear I am just as weak as Isildur. I cannot put my people through the same fate, not again." He shuddered. You put your hand over his, him looking at you. "You are not Isildur Aragorn. The fact that you stepped away from power out of fear of doing the same thing as him, proves that. Isildur would've accepted his claim, no questions. But you stepped away out of fear for what's best for your people." You stated. He blinked, looking at you. "...Y/n..." He muttered. "Or I'm just a crazy witch, who knows at this point." You shrugged. He chuckled, holding your hands. "Y/n, you're something else, you know that?" He said. "Mm. Many say I'm deadly. Others go with crazy." You answered making him smile.
This was a moment of peace. Finally. You could breathe, you weren't in some dungeon, you weren't in danger. You closed your eyes inhaling. "I'm glad I'm finally at peace... and I'm glad you're with me Aragorn." You said. He pressed a kiss to your knuckles. "I... Y/n when you died I realized I've left much unsaid with you. I don't want to call it love because it could be unrequited but I feel strongly for you-" you kissed him. "I do love you Aragorn. Life is too short to not tell you that." You told him. He let out a breath, presumably one of relief. You nearly kissed again but noticed something glow before a raven flew down, taking the form of a concerned Morrigan.
"Gondor calls for aid."

Destiny Calling: Chapter Nine
Tumblr media
You had made it through the marshes, running as fast as you could. The voices of nature seemed to get louder, every step you took away from Mordor. You were gaining energy too, rushing to find the river. Maybe it was hopeless, a exhaustion fed fever dream that your mind cooked up so you could leave. Or maybe, just maybe
Gandalf was still alive.
"Why should I welcome you, Gandalf Stormcrow?" Théoden, king of Rohan asked after Grima spoke in his ear, convincing him that Gandalf was less of an ally and more of a foe. His eyes appeared to be glazed over and he looked much older than he actually was. "A just question my liege. Late is the hour in which this conjuror chooses to appear. Lots spell I name him, ill news is an ill guest." Grima, the king's right hand said, looking at the group before him. "Be silent. Keep your forked tongue behind your teeth. I have not passed through fire and death to bandy crude words with a witless worm." Gandalf hushed Grima with a clear distain for the man. " His staff. I told you to take the wizards staff." Grima said. He backed away as soldiers rushed forward.
The group fought off the guards as Gandalf approached Théoden. "Théoden son of Thengel. Too long have you sat in the shadows." Gandalf said, earning the attention of the tired king. Gimli shoved Grima back down with his foot as the pitiful villain laid on the floor. "I would stay still if I were you." Gimli said. "Harken to me." Gandalf commanded, Théoden growling in response as Gandalf rose his hand. "I release you from this spell." Gandalf said.
Théoden laughed in the man's face. "You have no power here Gandalf the Grey." Théoden said. Gandalf removed his cloak, revealing the white robes earning a scream from Théoden "I will draw you Saruman as poison is drawn from a wound." Gandalf said, Théoden slamming against his throne. Gandalf pointed his staff at the king. A blonde woman sprinted forward, Aragorn grabbing her hand. "Wait." He said.
"If I go, Théoden dies." Théoden spoke, though it was clearly Saruman. Gandalf used the forces of magic to again, slamming Théoden back into his throne. "You could not kill me, you will not kill him." Gandalf said. "Rohan is mine." He said. Again, Gandalf shoved him back with magic. "Be gone." Gandalf commanded. Théoden lunged at Gandalf, Gandalf knocking him back once more, this time Théoden seeming to change. The woman rushed forward, catching the king before he could hit the ground. "I know your face. Éowyn. Éowyn." He recalled, earning a smile from her. "Gandalf?" Théoden noticed the man approach. "Breathe the free air again my friend." Gandalf said. Théoden rose from his throne, Gandalf smiling. "Dark have been my dreams of late." Théoden said, looking at his hands. "Your fingers would remember their old strength better if they grasped your sword." Gandalf said. Háma handed the king his sword, him taking it. Grima made an ill attempt to leave but Théoden noticed.
Grima was kicked down the stairs, Théoden clearly filled with anger as he followed the pathetic excuse of a man. "I’ve only ever served you my lord." Grima said, Théoden scowling at the man's words. "Your witchcraft would have had me crawling on all fours like a beast." He hissed. "Send me not from your sight." He begged. Théoden prepared to strike, Aragorn intervening. "No, my lord. No my lord. Let him go. Enough blood has been spilt on his account." Aragorn reasoned. He offered a hand to Grima but the man spit in his hand, getting up on his own and fleeing through the crowd. The king and Aragorn stood side by side before the people. "Hail Théoden King!" Aragorn yelled. The Rohirrim bowed to Théoden as Grima rode away from Edoras. Aragorn bowed to Théoden. He turned around looking to the group of people from the hall. "Where is Théodred? Where is my son?" Théoden asked.
Gandalf escorted Théoden away and Aragorn looked out at the horizon. He clenched the Evenstar in his hand, thinking of you. How his heart ached to see you again. He missed you. He missed seeing your face, finding reasons to smile during a stressful time. He hated this cruel reality that he lived in with you, hundreds of miles away from him. He wished he could communicate with nature as you did to see or hear of your status. Gandalf, around the time they entered Rohan, mentioned you being safe but gave no other words. He wanted to pester the man about it but now was clearly not a good time.
Aragorn sat on the steps of the keep, fidgeting with the necklace. "you miss her." Legolas said, sitting next to him. He nodded, sighing. "I wish she didn't plague my thoughts like this. I can barely focus. I can barely sleep." Aragorn admitted. Legolas opened his mouth but paused, seeing a horse coming over the hill. Éowyn looked over, walking down to the entrance gates. She was met not with one rider but two. Two children.
Everyone gathered in the hall looking at the two children. "They had no warning, they were unarmed. Now the wildmen are moving through the westfold, burning as they go. Rick, cot, and tree." Éowyn explained. So this was the war Gandalf spoke of in the woods. "Where is mamma?" The little girl asked. "Shh." Éowyn hushed, putting a blanket over the child. "This is but a taste of the terror Saruman will unleash all the more potent for he is driven mad by fear of Sauron. Ride out and meet him head on. Draw him away from your women and children. You must fight." Gandalf said to Théoden. "You have two thousand good men riding north as we speak. Éomer is loyal to you. His men will return and fight for their King." Aragorn said. Théoden rose from his throne. "They will be three hundred leagues from here by now. Éomer cannot help us. I know what it is you want of me, but I will not bring further death to my people. I will not risk open war." Théoden declined. "Open war is upon you, whether you would risk it or not." Aragorn said. "When I last looked, Théoden, not Aragorn, was King of Rohan." Théoden remarked. "Then what is the King’s decision?" Gandalf asked.
You managed to reach the boat at an inhuman speed. Whether it was pure desire to return to your lover or the sudden boost in energy as you left the area near Mordor, you didn't know. You rode though, finding a horse at the end of your journey. Whether it was Gandalf's doing or not you didn't know. But you rode, riding with the sounds of nature around you in full swing. "Send a message... I am coming." You requested to the trees. A large gust of wind sailed the airs moving past you.
You didn't know if this was a mistake. You didn't know if this was the correct choice but it was too late to turn back, you praying the city didn't fall to ruin before you arrived.
"By order of the King, the city must empty. We make for the refuge of Helm’s Deep. Do not burden yourself with treasures. Take only what provisions you need." Hama announced. Helm’s Deep! They flee to the mountains when they should stand and fight. Who will defend them if not their King?" Gandalf asked. "He is only doing what he thinks is best for his people. Helm’s Deep has saved them in the past." Aragorn muttered. Legolas felt the large gust of wind, looking up suddenly. "There is no way out of that ravine. Théoden is walking into a trap. He thinks he’s leading them into safety. What they’ll get is a massacre. Théoden has a strong will, but I fear for him. I fear for the survival of Rohan. He will need you before the end, Aragorn. The people of Rohan will need you. Their defenses have to hold." Gandalf said. "They will hold." Aragorn nodded. "The gray pilgrim, that’s what they used to call me. Three hundred lives of men I have walked this earth and now I have no time. With luck my search will not be in vain. Look to my coming at first light on the fifth day. At dawn, look to the east." Gandalf instructed. "Go." Aragorn said. Gandalf left, riding through the stable. Legolas tapped Aragorn on his shoulder. "A message." He said. "From who?" Aragorn asked. "Y/n." Legolas said.
"Y/n? But she is at least near the Black Gate by now." Aragorn said confused. "Gandalf asked me to keep quiet until it was sure. Y/n was forced to turn back, the corruptions through those lands would've killed her if she didn't. Y/n is coming. She is near." Legolas said. Aragorn's eyes were wide as he left outside.
He looked out at the horizon seeing Gandalf ride away. He sighed, closing his eyes. He prayed to any divine that came to mind, hoping that by some grace of Gods that he would be able to hear you, hell even see you. He needed to see you. He opened his eyes, Gandalf out of sight now. Aragorn sighed, turning around and heading back for the stable. He found comfort in horses. Years before knowing you, that was the only true travel companion he had. Plus he had a rogue steed to thank for leading him to you.
"Ho." A stablehand said, a horse fighting against two men. "That horse is half mad, my lord. There’s nothing you can do. Leave him." The other stablehand said, disappointed. "Fæste, stille nú, fæste, stille nú. Lac is drefed, gefrægon. (Fast, be quiet now, fast, be quiet now. A battle is stirred up, they heard.)" He said softly to the horse. The horse calmed down, still frightened but no longer thrashing about. "Hwæt nemnað ðe? Hm? Hwæt nemnað ðe?(What is your name? Hm? What is your name?)" Aragorn asked softly. Éowyn looked over. "His name is Brego. He was my cousin’s horse." Éowyn answered. Aragorn smiled, his eyes kind as he looked at the steed. "Brego? Ðin nama is cynglic. (Brego? Your name is kingly.)" Aragorn said. Éowyn noticed his gentle touches to the horse and how calm Brego was with the man. "Man le trasta, Brego? Man cenich? (What troubles you, Brego? What did you see?)" Aragorn asked the horse, his voice low and soft. "I have heard of the magic of Elves, but I did not look for it in a Ranger from the North. You speak as one of their own." Éowyn noticed. "I was raised in Rivendell … for a time. Turn this fellow free. He’s seen enough of war." Aragorn said, leaving her alone with the horse. she looked at him slightly shocked at his abilities and noticed that he removed the saddle from Brego.
People prepared to leave, horses and belongings beginning to leave. Aragorn sighed, fearing that you'd miss them, possibly entering an empty kingdom later. "I am ready Gamling. Bring my horse." Théoden said to Gamling. Gamling nodded, turning to leave. "This is not a defeat. We will return." Théoden said, making Gamling turn for only a moment before bowing and leaving. "We will return." He muttered. Éowyn took a sword from a nearby chest, unsheathing it. She turned with the sword, Aragorn blocking it while maintaining eye contact with the woman. "You have some skill with a blade." He observed. She swung the sword around, releasing it from Aragorn's hold and pointed the sword at him. "Women of this country learned long ago those without swords can still die upon them." She said, sheathing the sword. "I fear neither death nor pain." She commented. "What do you fear my lady?" Aragorn asked curiously. "A cage. To stay behind bars until use and old age accept them. And all chance of valor has gone beyond recall or desire." She said, looking at her blade. For a split second that reminded him of you. He shook his head though, looking at her. "You’re a daughter of Kings. A shield maiden of Rohan. I do not think that will be your fate." He said.
She gave him a small smile before Aragorn noticed Legolas walk by with a confused yet focused look. "The king has not-" "Do I look like I care!?" A voice came from behind the door, Legolas hearing it louder as he moved closer. "If I was truly the enemy wouldn't I have stabbed one of you incompetent fools by now?" The voice asked, it clearly being feminine. Legolas walked towards the doors before they were shoved open. Guards aimed their weapons at the stranger and they lifted their hands in surrender. "WAIT!" Legolas yelled, loud enough to catch the attention of Aragorn and Éowyn. Legolas peeled back your hood your face covered in dirt and sweat. "She is a friend." Legolas said with a smile, looking at you. "My horse literally launched me off of him. Little shit." You huffed, wiping dirt off your face before Aragorn dropped the sword he was holding, a loud clatter sounding off in the hall. Éowyn rose a brow. "You know that woman?" She asked, noticing the recognition in his eyes.
Your expression changed completely, it softening and him running forward. You ran into his arms, him holding you close. You instantly felt relief course through your veins, looking into his eyes before he passionately kissed you. Éowyn rose a brow, looking at the two of you before you kissed him, it becoming abundantly clear that you were with him. "I feared you'd miss us." He said. "I intended to stay but then I had so many visions, one of which was of you in battle. Then Sam and Frodo wouldn't let me proceed, they put up a very strong argument for such small men." You explained. He held you close chuckling, you listening to his heartbeat. "Whatever happened to never leaving each other again?" He asked, earning a small chuckle from you.
"Who is this woman?" Théoden asked, looking at you. You moved your hair aside, revealing your ears. "I am Y/n." You answered. Recognition came from your name but there was no clear reason why it was familiar. "She is an ally." Aragorn assured, keeping his arm around you. "If it pleases you to know, Gandalf sent me." You said to Théoden. "She is your wife?" Théoden asked Aragorn. "Lover." You corrected. "You let your lover wander the lands?" Théoden asked. "She cannot be controlled my lord. She is someone who acts on her own accord and I tend to just go along with her plans." Aragorn admitted. Théoden sighed, looking at you. "Very well. She will serve as a medic then and stay with the women and child—" "No." you halted. "No?" Théoden scoffed. "I did not end up in the Dead Marshes, hike through a fucking mountain, rowed down a river, ride a horse for six hours just to be kicked off and forced to walk to be treated like a child. I am charging with the men. End of story." You said. He sighed but nodded. "Very well. You charge with the men." Théoden said.
Gimli looked over. "Mistress Y/n!" He gaped. "By the Valar, was that excitement in your tone Gimli?" You asked making Aragorn smile. Gimli cleared his throat. "Glad to see you made it back alive." He said, a more serious tone now. You looked at Aragorn and smiled.
The city of Edoras cleared out, your party all standing on the steps of the keep. "By the way." you began.
"Frodo wishes us good luck."

Hey! Nonny here! I deactivated my account a few weeks ago, but i really liked your works! just never got the chance to let ya know :/ i’ve been really bogged down lately, so i had a legolas x reader request? maybe a “sad goodbye bc readers a human” request inspired by ‘Happiest Year’ by James whatshisface? But maybe they actually just end up staying together? you don’t have to write it if you don’t want to. thanks again :) -Nonny💞
Absolutely. I got you.
Tumblr media
Legolas was infatuated with you. You were beautiful, intelligent and you seemed to always understand where his mind was at. You and him met years ago when you left Bree-Land. You were sharp as a whip and skilled with a sword.
Something happened on your travels though. You fell in love. It all happened after you got imprisoned by Legolas's father See, Thranduil thought that if he could keep a measly human away from his son, then he didn't have to deal with Legolas being a brokenhearted man when you "inevitably" turn your back on him.
But Legolas figured out where you were rather quickly. The situation had his father written all over it. He ran into the prisons and then broke you out. Course, these were considered the most locked down prison in the lands so of course neither of you made it far. Thranduil told Legolas that both of you would be let go if he listened to his warning. Seeing as it was the least you guys could do, you told him to say yes. Legolas knew his father though, and was hesitant to respond. Eventually, after almost thirty solid , minutes of silence, Legolas agreed.
"They will leave you eventually Legolas, whether it be by choice or death. They're a human, son. They will meet their end." Thranduil said. You didn't seem to care about those words. You knew this, why it was being pointed out in such a serious manner didn't exactly make sense to you but still, his words didn't bother you.
Legolas took this warning and both of you left, Thranduil frustrated that neither of you seemed to care. Legolas and you were back on the road but he was quiet. "Legolas... What he said... Does that bother you?" You asked. He looked over. "I was going to ask the same thing." He asked. You chuckled. "I personally, don't give a shit. I'm perfectly aware that I am mortal Legolas." You said simply. He smiled, looking at you. "Glad to hear that you aren't distracted by that." He said. "Plus, I don't understand why your father was so.... Odd about that fact. He was acting as if we were a couple." You said.
Legolas tensed up and you stretched. "If... If that were the case, would you not be in a relationship with an elf?" He asked. You pondered. "I don't thin I'd care all that much. I think that as long as the other person acknowledged that I have a shorter life span, I think it'd be fine." You shrugged. "I am well aware you have a shorter lifespan." Legolas muttered, unaware he just gave himself away. You stopped walking and he turned around. "Legolas.... Do you... Have an interest in me?" You asked. He gulped. "Well... Yes. But we can choose to ignore that if you wish--" "Thank. The. Valar." You said before kissing him.
From that day forth the two of you weren't just travel companions. You were inseparable and happy. But after a while you started becoming a little slower. Small pains here and there would halt you. It was truly dawning on you that you were mortal...
However as you went through these changes, Legolas went through none. He was always going to be young and spry. Thranduil's words now had meaning to you. They weren't just a tactic to mess with you anymore, they were true. You were mortal and eventually you'd have to cease your travels. You were destined for an end, Legolas was destined for immortality unless he gave it up, which you made it clear he was not to do that.
You sat in a inn at a table next to the fire. It was late, no one but a couple of drunks passed out by the bar in sight. Legolas walked downstairs. "Darling? Could you not sleep?" He asked. You looked over. "No... No I couldn't." You muttered. "Is everything alright?" He asked. You looked at him and then the fire. "Sit next to me, will you? My hands are cold." You said softly. He nodded, sitting in a seat next to you, taking your hands into his.
"I think we should discuss something." You said softly. He nodded. "What ails you my love?" He asked. "Age." You said simply. He blinked. "What?" He asked. "Age. Age ails me. Mortality ails me." You answered. He rose a brow. "I.. don't believe I follow you." He admitted. You sighed. "I am getting older Legolas. Eventually my body won't be suitable for travel." You said. He nodded. "I know, but we both were aware of this." Legolas said. "I don't think we truly were. I think we disregarded your father's words too soon." You said.
Legolas drew back slightly at the mention of his father. "what are you saying?" He asked. You sucked in a small breath, looking back at the fire. "Y/n, what are you trying to tell me?" He asked. "I think we should part ways. Eventually I will pass Legolas. I will die and you will have to continue. At least now we can part ways and not go through the heartbreak in the future-" "No! Y/n, you told me that so long as I was aware-" "I know what I said. But things change. I changed. Legolas, what will happen when I'm 90 and unable to function properly? Not every human has Aragorn's blood, we don't live for centuries!" You sighed. Legolas shook his head.
"I'm not just going to part ways with you-" "I'm grabbing my things in the morning." You sighed. You got up, walking away. "Does this not hurt you the way it hurts me?" He asked. You stopped. "Of course it does. But the image of you having to watch me wither hurts me more." You said, turning around with visible tears in your eyes. He said nothing as you turned back around and left.
Sure enough, you left by morning. No one had seen you leave either. You just slipped out. You had gone to Rivendell, knowing Elrond very well. You would assist him with things around the place, him allowing you to live there in exchange for the help. Months passed and the ache in your heart wasn't going away. While you were organizing books one day though, you came across a peculiar sight. A hobbit. You recognized him as Frodo's cousin.
"Bilbo?" You asked. He looked over, now aged without the ring. "Yes?" He asked. "Oh I'm Y/n, a friend to Frodo. He's told me about you. You and your adventures." You said. Bilbo chuckled. "Yes, a fine boy he is. A hero too." He nodded. You smiled. "Have you had many adventures Miss Y/n?" He asked as you kept putting books on the shelves. Thoughts of Legolas bombarded you and you shook it off, clearing your throat. "Y-yes." You answered. "Of course you have.... Adventurers don't just find themselves here until they've concluded they don't want that life anymore." He stated. You gripped a book with a sad look. One that Bilbo recognized.
"What ails you?" He asked. You paused. "I doubt you'd want to hear it." You muttered. "I have much free time on my hands. Please. Indulge me." Bilbo said. You sighed. "I'm in love with a man who will never age." You said. Bilbo rose a brow. "He's a good man. But I couldn't pain him to watch me age and die." You muttered. "You left this elf?" Bilbo asked. "Yes. I had to." You muttered.
Bilbo grabbed your arm, stopping you from putting another book on the shelf. He pulled you over to a nearby bench. "Are you sure that was the wisest thing to do?" Bilbo asked. "It seemed to make sense..." You said. He shook his head. "I knew an elven woman like you once. She fell in love with a dwarve named Tili." He said. "Did they have a bright future together?" You asked, suspecting an optimistic tale. "No. He fell in battle, she passed on from a broken heart." Bilbo said. You blinked. "But I know that she was grateful for the time she did get to spend with him." He said. You blinked. "You shouldn't think so much about the future. You should live in the present. More exciting things happen in front of you there." He said.
You swallowed hard, looking at your hands. "Bilbo, are you distracting my help again?" Elrond asked. "Oh come now, she was in need of some advice! I was helping." Bilbo said. He rolled his eyes and you stood up. "I need a map. Or someone who can find someone for me I made a mistake." You said. Elrond blinked. "Who are you searching for?" He asked. "Legolas." You answered.
Bilbo blinked with surprise. "He passed through here an hour ago to Bree-Land. He was looking for a Marchant." Elrond said. You took off and Elrond sighed. "You know you're putting the books away." He said to Bilbo. "Nonsense, I'm much too short." He said. "We'll get you a ladder." He said making Bilbo huff.
You rode a horse as fast as possible. How you wish you had Legolas' tracking skills at this moment, you trying to find him. You noticed his horse though, stopped on the main road. You got off yours, venturing through the forest. You heard a snap in front of you, drawing your blades and inching forward before Legolas emerged with firewood. He froze, as did you. "...What are you doing here?" He asked.
"I... Saw Frodo's cousin and I realized something..." You said. He rose a brow. "I was wrong. I shouldn't punish you for my own predicament. Now I understand if you don't want to see me again, and if you say the word I'll disappear from your life completely but I want to say I miss you and I'm so sorry-" Legolas dropped his firewood and kissed you, you dropping your sword and hugging him.
"I love you so much." You said softly. He smiled, kissing your forehead. "I love you too, my dear."
