Folks, friends, y’all…. esk*mo is a slur. I understand a lot of people don’t know that, I don’t want to be a dick about it, but I’ve been seeing it in fics. Wanna write “esk*mo kisses”? Just say “nuzzled noses” or something.
I’m not here to call anybody out, it’s been in multiple fics, I’m not vague posting. This is just a psa. 👍🏻

I screamed this morning when I saw Kate Walsh's video letting us know Addison is coming back to Grey's. I've been boycotting since the Alex Karev devastation. But looks like I'm gonna have to start watching again 😍
Addison Montgomery is one of the best characters Grey's Anatomy has ever seen and I will physically fight anyone who disagrees.

Sometimes I'll just be chilling and then I get like a random memory from my childhood/adolescence and I'm like wow that was fucked why did I need to remember that right now I'm just trying to enjoy my evening.
Tonight's memories:
-That time when I was 13 and my mom called me a whore bc I was wearing black eyeliner emo-style, pretty on trend for 2006-2007.
-That time when I was 15 and my mom grounded me from the phone/internet/basically any communication with my friends for an entire year bc some dude sent me an unsolicited dick pic.

My city: back in a red zone due to a spike in positive cases
Also my city: hosts an air show, boasts about 1000s in attendance + tons of out of state attendees, schedules a hydrofest (boat races or some dumb shit like that) and a multicultural fair for the following weekend knowing goddamn well less than 50% of residents have been vaccinated.
I
Hate

I love scrolling through tumblr bc one minute you're reading an important, informative post riddled with people needlessly picking it apart with "Well technically" *inserts 6 paragraphs completely missing the point* and then you scroll to the next post and it's Ratatouille discourse.

The same people that mocked the BLM protests in my city and called protestors at large lazy and told them all to go out and get a job were protesting today at the county board of education bc kids have to wear masks to school.
Why?

I despise those videos rich people make showing how to save $10k in 100 days "easily" just by taking envelopes with different amounts written on them and just putting that much in cash in the envelope.
No one making these videos acknowledges the fact that in order to be able to do this you need to have either an amazing pay rate or absolutely no expenses and that most people do not have a wage that gives them a surplus income of $10,000 a year, nevermind in three months.
Can we please, for fuck's sake, stop perpetuating this narrative that people are only broke because they just spend frivolously and don't know how to manage finances, when people are being paid 1990's minimum wages in a 2021 economy.
Like how out of touch with reality do you have to be to actually think this is sound advice for someone who makes less than $30k gross a year?

Just saw a 1 star review for a bottle of castor oil, the reasoning being its too oily and stained someone's pillow cases.
Why are you out here sleeping on pillows with castor oil in your uncovered hair? What exactly did you think would happen? Castor oil is THICK. It's not like argon oil, which is is not nearly as heavy of an oil and absorbs relatively quickly, therefore has minimal transfer.
You cannot tell me this woman felt the consistency of this oil, and her hair once it was applied, and still thought "ah yeah this definitely isn't gonna get on my pillows."
Like don't blame the product bc you lack common sense.

I've seen it come up as a concern for some people, and I'd just like to provide some reassurance that receiving a professional diagnosis of DID will not
Prevent you from getting a job/allow your employer to discriminate against you
Prevent you from getting a driver's license/get your license taken away
Prevent you from getting medical transition
A job should not have access to your medical records. That is a major breach of privacy. Do not tell your employer about your diagnoses. If it's absolutely necessary/relevant, you can share things in vague terms instead (and this will likely be more helpful to them than name-dropping a diagnosis.) For example, asking for things to be written down for you or presentations to be emailed to you because of a bad memory.
If your dissociation impacts your ability to drive, having or not having a diagnosis won't change that. The DMV doesn't look through your medical files when deciding whether you pass the driving test. Your therapist does not give that information to them. Whether you pass your driving test or not is based solely on performance.
While many institutions that give access to HRT and other methods of medical transition do specify that mental health issues should be under control, that is determined by your psychiatric professional. If you've talked with them about your plans to transition and they approve, having or not having an official diagnosis won't get in your way. You can have DID and still be able to consent to HRT/surgery.
Many of these things are determined by presentation, NOT official diagnosis. There are very few things that are changed with an official, on paper diagnosis, and because that's very sensitive medical information, you will sign a waiver if they need to share that information elsewhere, including to other doctors.
If you present floridly enough for any of these to be a concern, getting an on-paper diagnosis is irrelevant in most of those situations, and may even help in many cases, such as backing up a discrimination claim should the need arise.
Don't be afraid of getting a diagnosis because of false information.
