I just saw a post that claimed that there isn't actually a lack of information coming out of Sudan, it's just people are being antiblack and not listening, then comparing the situation to Palestine. And at the end they listed literally only 1 Sudanese journalist to follow whom I was already following, because there aren't any others active on IG.

Sudanese people have already asserted that there is no prominent journalism or media institutions because of the previous authoritarian government and that even things like cinema and literature only started to make a comeback recently. We literally know that journalists in Sudan have been killed and disappeared and I don't know their names. We cannot honour the martyrs if we keep avoiding this truth. There is an active silencing campaign of Sudan and its people by the RSF and it's not any less part of the war (and by the SAF but I'm not gonna get into that).

Two things can be true at once: the lack of information coming out of Sudan because journalists cannot exist without being tracked and killed by the RSF, and also people are not trying to look into it through other sources because they do not care about the deaths of Black people or the destabilization of African countries. The extermination of Black journalists by the RSF is not removed from the antiblackness at play and it's not useful to overlook it just to make a point.

not that either is a good thing but there is a small cosmic sort of irony to appreciate in the way that the russian invasion of ukraine and the most recent nakba happened so close together and how they through comparison made it undeniably clear how much the definition of war crime and genocide and atrocity &etc depends on the geopolitical interests of the imperial core

in spite of whatever hole resembling a grave our ceo is currently digging himself into i want to emphasize that trans women are invaluable to our communities and you enrich our lives just by being here. i know my life wouldn't be the same without the trans women in it and the same goes for hundreds of thousands of people. i'm horrified thinking about what predstrogen and every other trans woman on this site is going through right now and i cannot stress enough that regardless you are loved and my support for trans women will always be unwavering

the palestinian red cross released an audio recording of their emergency worker rana, who was on the phone with hind for over three hours, trying to keep her calm. she makes her recite the fatiha (one of the opening verses of the quran that all children know) and the sound of rana holding back tears as she tries to stay calm for hind, and hind's baby voice repeating after her dutifully is really breaking something in me. i am living, as we all are, but there is a part of me that will remember this and so many other things until the day i die.
