Just another strange moment of longing. Sometimes I wonder if I’m just waiting for the present moment to be a memory so that I can truly enjoy it through the lens of nostalgia.

Just remembered two things that happened every single week when I worked in the local public library.
1. A woman would come in every Saturday and loudly recite poems that she had written about Princess Diana, even after everyone shhhhhhed her.
2. A guy would come in and book time on the computer, but he’d just spend his entire allotted time watching YouTube videos of people breaking their legs (with the sound turned up) until a random stranger would lend him their headphones just to stop the screaming.

i needed this so much today, once again tranxio is an angel sent from psychology heaven
We don’t have to be miserable. Being afraid doesn’t make us smarter, or safer. We can’t say, “Things are bad, so this is the right way to feel.” There is no right way to feel. We can be alert to dangers, we can take reasonable precautions, we can seize on opportunities to make proactive improvements. Those are actions; we can take them no matter how we feel, and reacting from panic or fury helps no one. It’s okay to be afraid, to be angry, to be sad—our feelings tell us a lot about ourselves, our own beliefs and values. But they do not tell us anything factually definite about the world. And no matter how bad things might actually be—whether or not they’re as bad as we think—there are still, always, things we can do to feel less awful.

So technically you are permitted to do havdalah until Tuesday, so I think that in the western diaspora it makes perfect sense to do it on Sunday night, because that marks the true separation between the weekend and the week. I’m all for keeping the shabbat vibes running over until Sunday too, tbh.

Shabbat Shalom // שבת שלום
Eat, sleep, breathe, rest, smile, look at the sky, gulp down a glass of water, watch a bird peck aimlessly at the path in front of you, sing something silly, wear your favourite shirt, have a wonderful weekend! ❤️

How many eggs do you scramble for six adults. Twelve won’t be enough. Hmm

About to host beaucoup de goyim for Chanukah and then Xmas. I feel like that thing where the sea pulls back and waits for a moment before releasing a big wave onto the shore.
Please let my mother in law behave! Please let my brother in law be chilled enough to avoid meltdowns. Please let the cousins feel comfortable enough to make themselves at home. Please let my toddler feel celebrated and not overwhelmed!

The frost lifted by the time the sun began to set. It’ll be back again by morning.
